Database Backup Failure
Hi,
We recently had a DBA here on a contract who did some work setting up backups and restores.
Unfortunately he is no longer here, and I have tried to perform a backup through OEM in his absence. The database was created by the DBA by copying the database from my development machine to a db server. On my machine some archive log files were in a directory:
C:\APP\RM\FLASH_RECOVERY_AREA\RONNIE\ARCHIVELOG
but on the server they are in the directory:
C:\APP\CS\FLASH_RECOVERY_AREA\RONNIE\ARCHIVELOG
When I am trying to run a backup from OEM, it is failing. Below is the output log. Can anyone advise?
The database is 11g.
Thanks

After upgrading to Yosemite (I don't have iPhoto anymore, only PHOTOS) my pictures will not import from my iPad or iPhone 5s or any picture from web, it shows "Database Error: failured to persist version". Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Sorry,
Yes, the error message is exactly like that ("Database error: failured to persist version")
No photos will import at all. I use USB to import from iPhone 5s or iPad 2.
About the difference? iPhoto and Photos . Are there two softwares?
I also will like to merge and/or synchronize all my photos I had saved to iCloud backups, Macbook Pro, iPhone 5s and iPad hard drives using iPhoto. It's call iPhoto library. At one point I turned off streaming.
Thanks again Larry HN. -
Full Database Backup in DB13 for MS SQL Server databases
Hello,
We have some SAP systems using the MS SQL Server database. I want to know if it is possible to setup the Full Database Backup option in transaction DB13 to store the files in a hard disk space.
I already did this type of configuration in SAP systems in Oracle databases and for this I used the init<SID>.sap where we can put all the configuration, for instance the disk path where we want to save the backup files! But for MS SQL Server databases, in DB13, I don´t know how to do that, when I add the "Full Database Backup" option in DB13, this show me some options but only for tape, but I don´t want to store the backup files in tapes, I want to store/save the files on the server disk itself or else to an external disk but I don´t see where I can set this way of storage!
This is what you see in DB13 (when using a MS SQL Server database) in "Full Database Backup" and as you see I only have options for TAPE not for a disk or other type of storage! How can I do that? (if that is possible):
Can you help me please?
Kind regards,
samid raifHello Raja
Sorry for the delay of my answer! Many thanks for that tip, it helps a lot and it solve the last error/problem that I reported here, in fact, the problem was we had named the device with two words containing a space. So we removed that space from the backup device (in SQL management studio) with one word only and the job runs successfully without any errors!
It works in Development and Quality systems but in our Production system (AM1) the Full backup option in DB13 stopped with the following error, in fact the error is on verification of backup, it means that the Full backup finished with success, but when it does the backup verification, the job in DB13 stops with an error, the following one:

SQL Server 2008 & 2012 Database backup on a shared loaction
Hi,
I have to plan for the Database backup on SQL Server 2008 & 2012 on a shared Path.
We are building a new Maintenance plan & specify the Database which needs to be backup & at the Folder location we specify the Shared Path Location. These steps I have followed using the below link,
http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/be138ca3-4b2f-4464-8115-9a0a6f2e0fe6/sql-database-backup-on-network-share-using-maintenance-plan?forum=sqldatabasemirroring
But the operation fails & throws the below error:

Regards,
Purvish ShahHello,
>>'\\DBBackup\SharePoint_backup\DB_backup_2014_02_13_122719_5314660.bak'. Operating system error 5(Access is denied.).
This clearly points out to fact that your SQL Server service account does not have permission of read/write on shared location, simple.
>>But when I open the shared path in the Windows Explorer it opens successfully.
This is because when you are browsing through explorer your windows login credential is used to access that folder but when you are running backup your SQL Server service account permission is used to write backup on shared folder ( which I assume it does
not have ) so the access denied error.
Hope this helps
PS: I reffered the link its maily how you specify backup path its not about access denied error due to SQL server service acount not having privilege

Tablespace Restore From Whole Database Backup
Hi
I tooks whole database backup.
BACKUP DATABASE;
Note:- No saperate tablespaces backup.
After that, if required I use to restore saprate tablespace from above backup.
RESTORE TABLESPACE tb_1;
RECOVER TABLESPACE tb_1;
Is this tecnique recomanded or not?
Wishes
JawadThere's no need to recover the whole database, if only one component has a failure. Tablespace recovery will only work, if the database runs in archivelog mode.

Restore new database form another database backup
It is possible to restore a new database on a new host from old database backup files (after old database failed from media failure)?
I want to do it just for testing purpose.
I appreciate your help.
Thanks in advance!Since you hide OS and database version, only a general advice is possible: see the chapter 'restore database to a new host' in the documentation provided for your environment.

Command - Take a full database backup
Hi,
I have to simulate a database failure. However prior to doing so, I have to take a "Take a full database backup". How do I execute this command? It is my understanding that this is different from selecting "Backup database"
Thanks in advance for the help!

it happend today but will again go on error free for next 13 days and on 14th day it will again give the same error.
I think there is some problem in ASPI manger when it calls the device to be initialized.
kindly help in resolving this...
precise and good answers will be rewarded accordingly.
thanks
saurabhHi Saurabh,
You need to remove this tape and replace it with a new one, youre not going to be able to do a backup of the tape because the tape is gone, just remove the tape and replace it with a new tape with a new label (or the same one if its possible)
Hope this help!
