Does it means CACHE SIZE value? Is size of the cache depends from size of the data or from quantity of the volumes?
I have 150000 pgs cache size, 15 volumes (20 ggd) Data about 70%
regards
Andrey

  • Database emergency startup

We have a Oracle9i database on RHEL ver.4.
After installed new storage, our disk partition was broken and database was shutdown.
    Question 1.
When File system was broken cause of media failure, we want know how startup database by force even though we lost our data.
Purpose of Our system is temporarily to manage data.
We want startup database emergency at either event that tablespace and data files exist or not.
    Question 2.
In above situation, we acknowledge status of our database in nomount but control file was broken cause of media failure.
So we don't startup our database immediately.
I wonder if we create new control file, whether we startup database or not.
    Please, be hurry.
We are in very emergency situation.
    Thanks.

    Hi,
    Database shutdown was unexpected.
    It was not clean shutdown.
We had not control file backup.(Actually, We had not any backup; COLD & HOT.)
So you don't have any backups in hand at the moment?Well prayers may help then.I shall suggest that you contact support for the issue. Its a prod db and you don't have a backup,I wont suggest you play around with it for any trial-see methodology.Let support take over the charge.
    Aman....

    Please Some Tips!
    Best Regards,
    Erick ILarraza

    Hi Deepak,
Thanks  a lot for your reply, in this case the problem was with the Dialog Instance (Only SAP apps, not Oracle).
We shutdown the instance with the Microsoft SAP Management Console (right  button -> Stop).
In general to shutdown the SAP System we first:
    1. Shutdown The Dialog Instance. (SAP Management Console)
    2. Shutdown The Central Instance. (SAP Management Console)
    3. Shutdown Oracle (BR*Tools).
    4. Stop SAP and Oracle Services.
Maybe is more a problem of Windows Memory Management.....
    Best Regards,
    Erick ILarraza

"LOG Q0I=> NiIBindSocket: bind (126: Cannot assign requested address) http://nixxi.cpp 3227"
I think its because of firewall. Check the portnumbers blocked by firewall and if there is only specific ip addresses allowed.
Also check  if it has some ingress filter method enabled in it.
If possible provide dispatcher trace. Also if you think there is some kind of port conflict, you can refer this.

    Not sure if this helps.

  • How to automate database startup/shutdown in RHEL4

    Dear All
    I have Oracle 10gR2 database on RHEL4.
If i want to automate database startup/shutdown with OS startup/shutdown,
Then where i need to update about dbstart.sh & dbshut.sh
I have already made entry in /etc/oratab as Y for database SID.
    I am using Bourn Shell.
    Thanks

You can refer to my post in my Blog

  • Can SPFILE be copied when database is shutdown?

can I issue the follow command when database is shutdown:
    CREATE PFILE FROM SPFILE;
    ?

Check op's question again (not only the subject line).
    CREATE PFILE FROM SPFILE;
    apex1: > export ORACLE_SID=spfile
spfile:  > sqlplus / as sysdba
    SQL*Plus: Release 10.2.0.3.0 - Production on Mon Nov 5 09:01:21 2007
Copyright (c) 1982, 2006, Oracle.  All Rights Reserved.
    Connected to an idle instance.
    SQL> create pfile from spfile;
    create pfile from spfile
    ERROR at line 1:
ORA-27037: unable to obtain file status
<your os here> Error: 2: No such file or directory
Additional information: 3Obviously, before nomount, Oracle don't know which spfile.
    Now with your alternative:
    SQL> create pfile from spfile='?/dbs/spfiletrestest.ora';
    File created.
    SQL> !find /u00 -cmin -5
.../db_1/dbs/initspfile.oraSo - no you can not (per op's question, when instance/database is shutdown), but as you pointed out - there's another way in which you can.

  • If the database is shutdown when the applcation is running what is happened

I am using coneection pool to connect database. If the database is shutdown when the applcation is running what is happened? and how the database will be reconnected.
    I am using MySQL 3.23.52, Tomcat 4.1.12

    Hi,
Performance of any n-tier system which takes the advantage of connection pooling will be much higher compared to its non-pooled counterpart.
You have to be very careful while designing/using a connection pool.if u are using pool obtained from a third party,ur control on this pool will be limited - with a few set/get methods.
A well designed pool wont create much trouble. if u are creating your own pool, basic steps required are
    1.create 'n' number of connections
2.whenever user requests for a connection, check the validity of the connection- by sendin a simple select query etc- and if its not stale, give this connection to the caller.
3.if the connection is stale ie it fails the pretest, close all the connections and create the pool afresh.
4.connections obtained from the pool will be automatically returned back to the pool whenever the applciation call conn.close().
from ur application, follow the steps for each connection you use (not necessary for a well designed pool)
    1.call ds.getconnection()
2.check validity of this connection by sending a simple select query.if it works, everything is fine. otherwise something is wrong with connection(not always).
3.sql exception may occur during the execution of sql query. this can be due to either
    a.database shut down (network related)
b.database specific - like wrong query, invalid objects etc
you have to look at the sql state/vendor code (which can be retrieved from the caught exception). the retrieved code will give you a hint why the error (network or database specific).and you can act accordingly.
Most of the app servers comes with builtin connection pooling module. and handling stale connection is not a difficult task for the programmer. eg: if you are designing applcations for IBM websphere, you can use StaleConnectionException in your code.if this exception is caught, the whole pool is destroyed and created afresh.

  • Emergency shutdown on MacBook Air?

Does emergency shutdown work the same on the MBA as other Macs – I.e. hold down power button for five seconds?

Thanks. My Windows using friend in another state just bought a MBA (which I've never used) and I'm trying to help him with it by phone.

  • Check the last time database was shutdown

how do I check to see the last time the database was shutdown?

    alert log is good source
you can first create a external table base on alert log
    something like this
    CREATE TABLE alert_ext
    text_line varchar2(255)
    ORGANIZATION EXTERNAL
    TYPE ORACLE_LOADER
    DEFAULT DIRECTORY bdump_dir
    ACCESS PARAMETERS
    records delimited by newline
    fields
REJECT ROWS WITH ALL NULL FIELDS
    LOCATION
    'alert_etest.log'
Then run this query (credit to Tom)
    SQL> l
    1 select last_time, start_time, start_time-last_time days
    2 from (
    3 select to_date(last_time, 'Dy Mon DD HH24:MI:SS YYYY') last_time,
    4 to_date(start_time,'Dy Mon DD HH24:MI:SS YYYY') start_time
    5 from (
    6 select text_line,
    7 lag(text_line,1) over (order by r) start_time,
    8 lag(text_line,2) over (order by r) last_time
    9 from (
    10 select rownum r, text_line
    11 from alert_ext
    12 where text_line like '___ ___ __ __:__:__ 20__'
13 or text_line like 'Starting ORACLE instance %'
    14 )
    15 )
16 where text_line like 'Starting ORACLE instance %'
    17* )

  • Hello! Recently encountered a problem with OSX start,  after an emergency shutdown macbook

Hello! Recently encountered a problem after an emergency shutdown macbook (it was shut off due to low battery) and now I can not boot in OS X, the fact that I can't see what became of OSX, so as I have in parallel is Windows that is loaded instead of OS X (video here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2oSTZhaVy9g sorry for the quality, with YouTube's nothing you can do) When you select a disk partition with OSX in Windows, via Bootcamp the same. What could it be? Maybe there is a function of the last successful run? I have the opportunity to the entire disk with OS X, from file system to programs. Moreover, OS X has remained 1password. I would be very grateful for help, because the answer is never found. I have MBP 371 ll/a with OSX 10.9.5.

Yes, I can see the partition with OS X and Windows, better watch the video, it demonstrates this point.
