Database is started but Listener won't start

Hi community,
During the weekend, an outage took my Windows Server 2008 R2 down and my database by the same way.
I Started the database back on but I'm having some issues starting the TNS LISTENER of my 11.0.2 database.
I tried starting the service : OracleOraDb11g_home1TNSListener
but i get the following error : The OracleOraDb11g_home1TNSListener service on Local computer started and then stopped. Some services stop automatically if they are not in use by other services or programs.
the LSNRCTL Status gives me this :
Connecting to (DESCRIPTION=(ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=IPC)(KEY=EXTPROC1521)))

TNS-12560: TNS:protocol adapter error

TNS-12541: TNS:no listener
TNS-12560: TNS:protocol adapter error

    Hi,

I can log into the XE database via SQLPLUS from dos after defining oracle-sid; i also had to manually set the ORACLE_HOME env variableDo you have more than one sqlplus.exe on this box?
What is the output of following commands
    cmd> set
    cmd> ipconfig
    cmd> hostname
listener.ora (i changed the computer name to the 127.0.0.1)Why the change?
What happens if you use hostname instead?
If you rename the listener.ora (to e.g. listener.ora_xe) and try to start the listener, what do you get?
btw: i deinstalled oracle10g client....other than Toad 9.7 there's no other Oracle-related products on the laptop.Possibly, there's left-overs from uninstall and maybe it could interfere.

  • Firefox won't start, profile manager won't start, but firefox.exe shows in processes list (task manager)

Firefox will not start, even though it is listed in my processes in task manager. Can't get profile manager to start either.
I have tried the following to no avail:
    - try to start FF in Safe Mode, doesn't load
    - started Windows Vista in Safe Mode, FF still does not load
    - turned off Kaspersky AV, FF still does not load
    - uninstalled FF, cleaned out user/####/AppData/Mozilla/Firefox folder, as well as ProgramFiles/Mozilla/Firefox folder, and cleaned our Registry manually from all references to Firefox. Downloaded FF 3.6.3, installed. still does not load
    - whatever i seem to do, does not fix the problem. When I try to start Firefox, no window appears. I can see the process starting in my task manager. I can "end process" and try to start the program again by double-clicking program icon. Process starts in task manager, but no app window appears.
I am frustrated and have just wasted 2+hours of my night trying to get this to work. Downloaded Google Chrome, unless there is a fix for FF (which I would prefer to use), i will have to switch to Chrome.
I can't pinpoint when this trouble started, but may have been after a recent Windows Update. I already did a System Restore to a restore point about 5 days ago (the oldest one available to me, and I believe that was before the FF trouble started). This has not helped either.
I have run a full virus scan with Kaspersky and a Full scan with Windows Defender. Nothing came up.
Anyone else been able to find a solution to this?
    == This happened ==
    Every time Firefox opened
    == Less than a week ago ==
    == User Agent ==
    Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.0; en-US) AppleWebKit/533.4 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/5.0.375.86 Safari/533.4

I found a way to make it work somehow but not really fixing the error... one day when I got really pissed off because FF just won't open, I clicked the icon and killed the enter button, then multiple FF windows appeared. I tried to open it with just a single hit of the enter or double clicking but it won't work anymore, but repeatedly clicking the enter button (mine works with just 3 hits, sometimes 6) seem to open it. And until now, I have no technical explanation for this.

  • Listener won't start (11g)

    Hey all -
I have an 11g install on CentOS5. For some reason, the lsnctl command will not start. The following is the output:

I have the feeling that this is just some OS level permissions - at least I hope so!
The DB is started and open, and the ORACLE_SID is set properly. I am using the "oracle" user created during the install to start the DB and strart the listener.

My $ORACLE_HOME variables are set correctly. I am able to bring up the database instance. Just can't get this listener started and don't have the slightest clue why.

You may want to try this:

        (DESCRIPTION =
          (ADDRESS_LIST =
            (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = dina.dhcp.2wire.com)(PORT = 1521))
)And make sure dina.dhcp.2wire.com can be solved against an IP. On the other hand, it seems like you are getting your IP from a dhcp server. Even though you could start your services, it is advisable to use a fixed IP address or have a loopback adapter properly configured, otherwise you may face configuration issues with the EM DB Control Console.

  • I dwnloaded 3.6.15 but it won't start

Downloaded Firefox 3.6.15 but whether I click on the icon or the program it just won't start. Nada, nothing, no response.

This is a bigger problem than seems to be realized. I also have it. Were you able to run the install wizard without that "another copy running" message? I have not been able to do so, and as a result cannot uninstall Firefox to try a clean reinstall -- since the uniinstall wizard generates the same message. thinks another copy is running. The profile.ini program seems to be exactly like the example show of a proper profile file, so that can't be it either. And the colunteer help desk was not staffed Thursday PM or Friday to see if some hand-holding might resolve it.

Does it work in your old account?
If so, delete everything in the folder /Users/controlled account name/Library/InputManagers.
Also try deleting /Users/controlled account name/Library/Preferences/com.apple.safari.plist.

I tried to boot from the CD to repair the disk permissions but when I try to verify them I get the BSOD. Is this because I am running Boot Camp? Please note -- I have not gone online while in windows. Only use to play episode 1.
This doesn't look good. I just installed eyeTV, and have recorded a few programs for my ipod. I realize that recording digital tv is a ton of use on my hard drive. But I haven't let it record more than 2 gigs at a time.
Does anyone else have a similar problem with eyeTV? or any suggestions??

Have you moved anything around in your file library? The Mac OS likes things in one place.
You may want to repair permissions if you have not yet done so.

  • After maxing out RAM, laptop starts fine, but OS won't start

My laptop is a Toshiba Satellite C655D-S5057. I swapped out 2x2GB for 2x4 GB modules. The BIOS posts fine and I can enter setup. However, Windows will not start from the HDD. The laptop freezes on a black screen with a white cursor line in the upper lefthand corner (just prior to what would be the Windows screen). The cursor blink about twice and then freezes. Also, I cannot boot from my DVD-Rom either.
It also freezes when I have just 1 x 4Gb in either slot.
However, if I put 4GB in the bottom slot and a 2GB in the top slot, Windows starts normally.
The BIOS is the latest version ( 1.8). I also disabled legacy USB support with no luck. I dropped HDD to be the second boot device, however, no luck there either.
I am running with 6 GB since that allows it to start, but I'd rather use my pair of fours...

what memory are you using?  You should always make sure the mfg (corasair, etc.) certifies that the memory you are planning in using has been tested and compatible with your computer.  You need ddr3-1066 but this does not tell you the timings.  that is where the mfg's come in.  Use the wrong timings and your lucky to get it even to boot.  Using mismatched is also not recommended as you will loose the dual channel feature and you might as well just put your 4gb kit back in as it will perform better than a mismatched 6gb kit.
