Database Owner in transactions

All,
          I need to add the database owner name to all calls made by container managed transactions from the EJB's.
          If the current SQL looks like this:
          SELECT foo from table_foo
          We need the SQL to look like this:
          SELECT foo from database_owner.table_foo
          How would I do this so that the database owner name is added to all transactions?
          Thanks,
          Jim

          There's no way to do this. The best way is to define the connection
          pool so the JDBC connections are made with a user that uses the
          schema you want.

  • Best Practice for the database owner of an SAP database.

    We recently had a user account removed from our SAP system when this person left the agency.  The account was associated with the SAP database (he created the database a couple of years ago).
    I'd like to change the owner of the database to <domain>\<sid>adm  (ex: XYZ\dv1adm)  as this is the system admin account used on the host server and is a login for the sql server.  I don't want to associate the database with another admin user as that will change over time.
    What is the best practice for database owner for and SAP database?
    Thanks
    Laurie McGinley

    Hi Laura
    I'm not sure if this is best practise or not, but I've always had the SA user as the owner of the database. It just makes it easier for restores to other systems etc.

  • Database owner and database user with db_owner permission

    we deployed a java hibernate application which creates the database tables on deployment. A login is created and mapped for the database as the user. For that login the db_owner role is given. On the deployment we received an error mentioning execute permission
    issue.
    the same process is done and this time the login is created but not mapped as the user. the login is assigned as the database owner from the database property. this time the deployment worked fine.
    what is the difference between setting the login as database owner and setting as a user with db_owner role.

    The error i received was "the execute permission was denied on the object 'sp_tables'........".
    I solved this issue by giving db_owner permission to master database for the relevant user.
    In my local computer i didn't give permission to master database. I have only assign the user as the owner of the database and deployment was success.
    But this error comes in another place where I implement the system.
    if your application is not only a desktop application without anything critical on it, then I strongly advise to stay away from making anybody db_owner in the
    master-database. That's THE system database. It's easy to take over that system for such an account then.
    I am a bit surprised you are getting this error in that context. Originally the public role should have execute permission on it. So it seems someone has changed the defaults permissions (for hardening purposes?) Then reverting to original state is much
    less harmful than the db_owner role.

  • Database owner permissions

    Hi,
    We have custom database roles on some SharePoint databases like 'SPDataAccess', 'SPReadOnly'. SharePoint user 'domain\SPfarm' has membership on these roles. I have changed 'domain\SPfarm' to owner of that database with command:
    EXEC sp_changedbowner 'domain\SPfarm'
    Question is do I have to add back this user to these custom roles membership:
    EXEC sp_addrolemember SPDataAccess, 'domain\SPfarm';
    EXEC sp_addrolemember SPReadOnly, 'domain\SPfarm';
    Thanks

    the problem is that I have to remove user from all roles and database it self before I can change the owner or else I get error:
    An exception occurred in SMO. (Microsoft.SqlServer.Smo)
    The proposed new database owner
    'domain\SPfarm' is mapped as user
    'domain\SPfarm' in this database.
    Parameter name:
    'domain\SPfarm'.
    And the question is if I remove this user from roles and database and change owner to user 'domain\SPfarm'
    do I have to re-add this user to the same roles?
    Thanks

  • Adding Data to the database for SAP Transactions

    Hi
    I'm new to the whole ABAP. I would like to enquire about adding transaction data in SAP through ABAP but it must be immediate.
    I know that one can use a BAPI to add data and can rollback if any problems occur.
    But if no BAPI exists how does one write code to add a document to the SAP database but with everything SAP transaction requires like the BAPI. What is the process and how???
    So let say I wanted to do FB01 which is SAP FI document and must be immediate. There is a BAPI that exists for it but if there was not one how would I do this???
    I know one can also use BDC but that creates a batch and then needs to be executed in SM35, I want a way to add data for two or three SAP transactions, if any problems occur with any of the steps rollback everything else commit everything to the database.
    Any simple detail examples (code) that satisfy the above will be greatly appreciated and REWARDED.
    Thanks in advance

    Luis,
    i have a code exactly same BDC for FB01.

  • Updating values in database table through Transaction

    Hi,
    Actually We have one transaction named EWAWA01. In that when we display the values from the transaction, there is a netweight field. The transaction displaying netweight values, but that value is not updated in the database table named EWA_WA_WEIGHPROC. How can i update that netweight value in the table.

    data:v_v_EWA_WA_WEIGHPROC type  (v_EWA_WA_WEIGHPROC lenth) c.
    decleare the data in charter type.
    after pass the data charter type.
    v_EWA_WA_WEIGHPROC = EWA_WA_WEIGHPROC
    update db.

  • Database adapter -  commit transactions

    Hello everybody.
    Is it possible with the BPEL Process Manager (Databas Adapter) to handle some f.e. INSERTS on a database (also with more then one adapter) only with on database connection and commit all INSERTS only at the end of the process?
    So it is important that I use only one db-connection. I don't want to open a db-connection for every db-adapter I want to open (to do an Insert or sth else) .
    Thx a lot

    Hi Neil,
    at the moment it is not possible to have the entire bpel process from db adapter receive to db adapter invoke inside a single jta/global transaction context. We are working on some ideas for next the release.
    The best thing for now is to add exception handling to your business process and apply some compensation logic for the individual records which fail. I.e. if using the LogicalDeletePollingStrategy you could set the 'deleted' flag back to 'errored' for rows which are found to be invalid in the transform step and have a separate business process to deal with these.
    You could also try a large maxRaiseSize setting. That way if you read 100 rows they will be raised as a single xml document. If the transform fails then no rows will be written to the target database. However the commit will still occur on the source database.
    Finally, you could use a non-destructive polling strategy like the SequencingPollingStrategy or LogicalDeletePollingStrategy and a large maxRaiseSize. Your business process could look like this:
    receive (non-destructive destroy)
    transform
    merge all rows - target db
    delete all rows -source db
    If the 'merge' operation is jta enabled then it will be rolled back if either the transform or the delete fails.
    This above idea is like a two stage polling strategy. First the rows are marked as being processed by the receive, but only when they arrive at the target db are they marked a final time as being completed or deleted completely.
    Let us know if you need help implementing these ideas. To jta enable the merge see the recent thread 'oc4j-ra and data-sources.xml'.
    Thanks
    Steve

    Hi Anuj,
    I tried the Option 2 given in the thread which you have mentioned.
    Our DataSource is targeted to the managed server so we just restarted the managed server.
    I am still getting the same error of
    "Cannot call Connection.commit in distributed transaction. Transaction Manager will commit the resource manager when the distributed transaction is committed."
    Are there any other alternative approach to fix this issue?

  • How to get the database owner name in T-SQL script

    Hello, All!
    I want to get the database ower name (in format DOMAIN\user) by through T-SQL script. But SELECT * FROM sys.databases returns only owner_sid.

  • Sql Azure - Change Database Owner

    Is it possible to change the owner of a database in SQL Azure? I have a database that I'm trying to make a copy of, which I am not the owner of. My research seems to show that only the account that created the database (the owner) is allowed to run a command
    such as CREATE DATABASE ... AS COPY OF ...

    Hi lexk,
    According to your description, currently, personally, there is only one login which acts as the administrator. Usually, when you create a server in SQL Azure, you will create this login at the same time, which has access to all databases in the Server. You
    may create other login, however, they are less privileges than the administrator. So only the administrator can execute the create database ..as copy of .. command in SQL Azure database.
    This command requires that you must connect to master database, and also you must have the create database permission in the copy database. Even if you create a login and user in master database, and grant dbmanager permission to this user, when you execute
    the following command after connecting to master database, it will still show error 262.
    Create database <newname> as copy of < exist database>
    Msg 262, Level 16, State 1, Line 1
    CREATE DATABASE permission denied in database ' exist database '.
    If you just want to run create database command in SQL Azure database, you can ask the administrator to grant dbmanager role to your own login. For more information, see:

  • Database Owner Qualification

    Is there a way to turn off the owner qualification on the database object references?
    For example, if tablea is being referenced then toplink does it by owner.tablea. This causes an issue if you log into the database with any user other than the owner because it can't find the table.
    Thanks,
    Michael

    Register a preLogin Session event in the Mapping Workbench (or in code, should you wish). See the TopLink docs for more information on Session events
    public static void preLoginEventHandler(Session session)
    session.getLogin().setTableQualifier("foo");
    This will be executed before your session is logged in, and so you can still use SessionManager in the normal way.

  • Dbma_scheduler job executing procedure that loops through all client schemas in the database rolls back transaction incase of exception

    Hi,
    Needed your inputs on approach to implement a job using dbms_scheduler.
    We have around 2000 schemas. Each schema has a package with 2 procedures.
    The requirement is to create a single job in SYS that would loop through each schema and run the procedures at a specific time ( once a day) and send email notification on success or failure.
    Job script:
    BEGIN
        dbms_scheduler.create_job( job_name=> 'LOAD_EACH_SCHEMA_AUDIT_DATA',
                                   job_type=>'PLSQL_BLOCK',
                                   job_action=>'BEGIN  sys.p_loadaudit;
                                    END;',
                                   start_date=>systimestamp,
                                   repeat_interval=>'FREQ=MINUTELY;INTERVAL=1',
                                   number_of_arguments=>0,
                                   enabled=> true,
                                   comments=>'Job repeat interval is every 5 mins' );
                                   END;
    Note: for testing purpose i have set repeat interval to minutely.
    Procedure job will be executing:
    Procedure sys.p_loadaudit:
    CREATE OR REPLACE
    PROCEDURE p_loadaudit
    AS
        v_count          NUMBER:= 0;
        lv_error_message VARCHAR2(4000);
        vstmt            VARCHAR2(4000);
    BEGIN
        FOR i IN
        ( SELECT username FROM dba_users WHERE username LIKE 'ABCFIRM%'
        LOOP
            vstmt:= 'begin ' || i.username || '.pkg_audit_info.p_load_coa; end;';
            EXECUTE immediate vstmt;
            vstmt:= 'begin ' || i.username || '.pkg_audit_info.p_load_am; end;';
            EXECUTE immediate vstmt;
        END LOOP;
    EXCEPTION
    WHEN OTHERS THEN
        lv_error_message := 'Error in procedure p_loadaudit: ' || SQLCODE || ' -ERROR- ' || SUBSTR(
        sqlerrm,1,300) || '*' || dbms_utility.format_error_backtrace;
        raise_application_error(-20002,lv_error_message);
    END p_loadaudit;
    Example of one schema: SCHEMA_01
    create or replace
    PACKAGE pkg_audit_info
    AS
    type cursortype
    IS
        ref
        CURSOR;
            PROCEDURE p_load_COA;
            PROCEDURE p_load_AM;
       END pkg_audit_info;
    create or replace
    PACKAGE body pkg_audit_info
    AS
    PROCEDURE p_load_COA
    AS
    BEGIN
    INSERT INTO TABLE1();
    EXCEPTION
    WHEN OTHERS THEN
        lv_error_message := 'Error in procedure pkg_audit_info.p_load_COA: ' || SQLCODE
        || ' -ERROR- ' || SUBSTR(SQLERRM,1,300) || '*' || dbms_utility.format_error_backtrace;
        RAISE_application_error(-20002,lv_error_message);
    END p_load_COA;
    PROCEDURE p_load_AM
    AS
    BEGIN
    INSERT INTO TABLE2();
    EXCEPTION
    WHEN OTHERS THEN
        lv_error_message := 'Error in procedure pkg_audit_info.p_load_AM: ' || SQLCODE ||
        ' -ERROR- ' || SUBSTR(SQLERRM,1,300) || '*' || dbms_utility.format_error_backtrace;
        RAISE_application_error(-20002,lv_error_message);
    END p_load_AM;
    END pkg_audit_info;
    Table1 and table1 exist in schema_01.
    All 2000 schemas have same package.procedures.
    Due to security reasons i have removed the actual code.
    I was able to execute the job successfully. However, when a schema procedure (SCHEMA_01.pkg_audit_info.p_load_COA) throws an exception, the job fails and all transaction is rolled back.
    Is there a way to loop through each schema and execute the related procedures. Even if exception happens, it should rollback only for that schema and continue the other schemas in the loop?
    Please let me know if there is a better way to achieve this. Is the way i am handling exceptions in the job/procedure correct?
    Thanks

    Hi,
    RAISE_APPLICATION_ERROR will cause the program to exit back to the caller, even if you place it in a block within the loop, so the RAISE or RAISE_APPLICATION_ERROR instruction should be placed in your "pkg_audit_info.p_load_AM" and "pkg_audit_info.p_load_coa" procedures. This way, you can use a block inside the loop and log the error.
    FOR i IN
        ( SELECT username FROM dba_users WHERE username LIKE 'ABCFIRM%'
        LOOP
           BEGIN
            vstmt:= 'begin ' || i.username || '.pkg_audit_info.p_load_coa; end;';
            EXECUTE immediate vstmt;
            vstmt:= 'begin ' || i.username || '.pkg_audit_info.p_load_am; end;';
            EXECUTE immediate vstmt;
    EXCEPTION
    WHEN OTHERS THEN
        --> Log the error in a custom log table otherwise you will not know what happened for that schema: don't forget the username
    END;
    END LOOP;

  • Database Triggers - Autonomous Transaction Issue

    Hi ,
    I have a EMP table.
    I wrote a AFTER ROWLEVEL Database Trigger for EMP table.
    While Updating value in EMP table , my trigger is firing.
    Issue:
    My requirement is , I want to find the Count(1) in EMP table for the updated record.It is not including the updated record in my count.
    If i execute the count(1) , outside the session , it is giving the correct value.But inside trigger i am not getting the exact count.
    Can u pls help me.
    Sample Coding:
    While updating DEPT_CODE , the following trigger is firing.
    CREATE OR REPLACE TRIGGER testing
    AFTER UPDATE OF DEPT_CODE
    ON EMP
    REFERENCING NEW AS NEW OLD AS OLD
    FOR EACH ROW
    DECLARE
    t_count number;
    cursor c_emp
    is
    select count(1)
    from emp
    where dept_code = :NEW.DEPT_CODE;
    PRAGMA AUTONOMOUS_TRANSACTION;
    BEGIN
    open c_emp;
    fetch c_emp into t_count;
    close c_emp;
    dbms_output.put_line('t_count '||t_count);
    END;
    I got count as 5.
    But if i execute the count in SQL , it is giving count as 4.
    In the database trigger , it is not taking the record which was updated .

    why a trigger (... not even going to ask why an autonomous trigger... )

  • Recover UDB database to a transaction

    Gurus:
    Yesterday, one developer deleted some entries from a  table  accidentally.
    We want to use on-line backup to restore it right before the table entries were deleted.
    What is the command to use?    Thanks!

    Sorry for the delay. You need to use bprestore command to get the backup image from the veritas netbackup (tape).
    Here is the basic syntax:
    /usr/openv/netbackup/bin/bprestore -f restore_list -L restore_log_file
    where restore_list has fully qualified path and name of the file you are trying to restore.
    If you need to restore a file to disk from tape that was originally archived using bparchive command (not backed up to disk using bpbackup command), you need to use u201C-Au201D in bprestore command. Sample command is shown below:
    /usr/openv/netbackup/bin/bprestore u2013A u2013K u2013f restore_list
    If you want to just have a list of files that are available on the tape, you have to use u201Cbplistu201D command.
    /usr/openv/netbackup/bin/bplist -A -l -R DIRECTORY > output_file
    -A | -B   Specifies whether to produce the listing from archives (-A)
                    or backups (-B). The default is -B.
    -R [n]    Recursively lists subdirectories encountered to a depth of
                    n. The default for n is 999.
    -l        Lists in long format, giving mode, owner, group, size in
              bytes, and time of last modification for each file.
    Hope it helps.
