Database performance report

Hi all,
I'm a DBA and my Boss want a daily and monthly dataabse performance report like CPU usage, memory usage, IO. I know for me i can monitore that in Oracle enterprise manager but my boss no, and he wants a xls file with graph and chart like in Enterprise.
That i want is if somebody has script to retrieve those information or where can i get those informations in what dba tables or views.
You know i want to get the information used in Enterprise manager but i don't know from which v$view oracle retrieve these information.
I want CPU, MEMORy, I/O average usage by hour or by day.
My database version is 10.2.0.3 with ASM configuration
Many thanks in advance.
regards
raitsarevo

Yes that's a good idea but i just want if this AWR informations are stored on some V$ views or tables.
I'm afraid about runing statspack report every hour for performance reason, i think AWR runs every hour and they both has the same activities, so why to need runing statspack.
thanks for your advise.

  • Performance reports using Grid Control

    Hello!
Can we create and schedule database performance reports using oracle 10g grid control?
    Thanks.

    Hi
Yeah its possible to generate the performance reports using Grid Control.
    Ex:
Oracle Enterprise Manager GRID Server contains built in reports to support Database Administrators to generate sightly reports.
First Thing is to click to "Reports" tab on the top, right hand side of the GRID Management Console (figure_grid_management_console). This page is where all the predefined and custom reports can be find. Now click on the "Create" Button on top of the page to create a new custom report. "Create Report Definition" page comes to the screen. There are four tabs for the definition of the report.

Got it working. Can now use my DiNovo Keyboard without its dongle. Yeah. NO BSODS.
This is what I did. I put in the dongle for the keyboard, rebooted to an account with Admin privileges, used flashcards to go to BT not the F8 key the actual BT one that shows your comp name and ID#. I removed the dongle for the keyboard, turned on the keyboar adn clicked its connect button, clicked the flashcard and it brought up BT Settings.  It did not BSOD.  So I think Imo454 has it right about the dongle and using it for drivers.  Although it did not show anything installing.  Set up device, it saw keyboard, I configured settings, closed BT setting manager and now have Icon in tray and BT information manager works.
Reinstall your stack again and then try this.  I also gave my users permission to the BT Manager and BT Info.  I don't think that made a diff but it can't hurt.  Not full permission but write and mod as well as the standard read.
The Toshiba stack from what I can tell is very persnickity.  Everywhere I  have read to fix this talks of this.  I got my stack from the Toshiba Europe site.  They have more current stacks than USA.  Plus if you run on Toshiba HW you do not need a new key.
Thanks to you Imo454 and to Jerry.

  • Performance reports and measures for Online Trading Customer's databases

We have a client from online trading commodity domain. there databases are running in healthy stat.
We on daily basis share with them AWR report of time span 9:30AM to 10:30AM (peak trading hours).
can you suggest what all recommendadtions we can include in this AWR report or how we can study on daily basis this AWR report extracted to mention recommendation to customer.
apart from this what other performance reports we can share with customer which will make cilent view their database stat in terms of performace tunning and all.
We can share daily database checks and all but I am trying to have some good performance end reports which can be extract to share with client??
What performace reports you are sharing or can suggest in this regards??
    Thanks friends in advance.

We on daily basis share with them AWR report of time span 9:30AM to 10:30AM (peak trading hours). I have written a few blog posts about AWR analysis (http://savvinov.com/category/awr/) -- some of them may be useful to you. However, AWR reports are not so good for monitoring purposes. Monitoring is about trends -- AWR doesn't have that. Plus, application performance should be measured in its native metrics (KPIs or "key performance indicator"). For instance, for an online shop that would be the number of orders processed, average time it takes to process an order etc. Low level stats such as the number of table scans per unit time or IO stats doesn't really tell whether or not an application is performing satisfactorily.
From the database point of view, a simple overview of the OEM Performance Page should be enough to get a basic idea whether the database is ok.
can you suggest what all recommendadtions we can include in this AWR report or how we can study on daily basis this AWR report extracted to mention recommendation to customer.I've seen a lot of such recommendations -- 99% of them are garbage, and the customers treat it accordingly. Unless there are clear signs of a performance issue, recommendations are generally neither necessary, nor possible (without additional information about the application). Ain't broken -- don't fix it.
apart from this what other performance reports we can share with customer which will make cilent view their database stat in terms of performace tunning and all.
We can share daily database checks and all but I am trying to have some good performance end reports which can be extract to share with client??Ideally, you should have SLAs with your customers which should clearly define how much time a certain user action should take. Without an SLA and/or specific complaints from the user there is little you can do about database performance, except for when something obvious shows up on the report.

  • Regarding Database performance for report creation

    Hi,
Currently i have one database in that two schema one for table data and second for reports creation. But it is taking more time to display data because there is more load on first schema.
I want to create second database for report schema .But i have to access table data from first database .
    1) There is one option to fetch data from first database is through DB Link . But i think it also takes more time to fetch data.
Is there any way i can access data from first database and i get more performance with creating new database.
Kindly give me suggestion . What should i do to improve reports performance?

    1. Use Oracle Streams and replicate tables between databases. WHile using reporting, you'll refer to the second database
    2. Create Standby database, it's the clone of your database where you can update it by adding archived redo log files from primary database

  • How to report database performance to upper management?

    Hello all.
I am looking for a way to report database performance to upper management.  I'll start by giving you an overview of our team structure. I manage a team of various roles: Level 2 support specialists, configuration managers, and DBAs - we are dubbed the
"Production Support Team".  I report directly to the VP of Software Development who oversees the Design, DEV, and QA, team managers.  This means that our team, Production Support, can be considered a peer team of Design, DEV, and QA.
The manager of each team compiles metrics from their team members and reviews them on a weekly basis to ensure we are headed in the right direction.  We then take our metrics, and distill them down into a few key metrics that we then report to the VP
of Software Development.  Those metrics are easy tom compile for the L2 support roles (number of tickets escalated, number closed, etc.).  However, I've been struggling with how to report DBA performance for a long time.  Every time I start
to compile numbers, I end up with tons of things that are great for a DBA, but don't mean much to upper management.  Does anyone have any suggestions.  Surely I'm not the only person that has had this issue?
I'd be happy to provide more info if needed.  Thanks!
    Clint

  • Vendor Scorecard Performance Report

The Vendor Scorecard Performance Report data is based on dates entered in the PO (dates provided by the vendor to us at the time we cut the PO or even months after the PO is cut-this date can change) as opposed to our expected lead time (lead time promised by the vendor in general). We always need to put the vendor's advised date in the PO so that our back-order reports have the correct ETA info. Currently, the report will show the vendor as having an almost perfect record because our expected receipt date is based on the vendor's production schedule (whether it is within our expected lead time or not).
We need some kind of indicator in the vendor set up which tells the system that the expected delivery date is "out of tolerance". Is there any way to achieve this and have the report based on expected lead time as opposed to PO dates?
Could somebody please help me to achieve this...?

No database version? No example tables and data? No attempt to solve this yourself?
Please provide the necessary details as mentioned in the SQL and PL/SQL FAQ:

  • AWR - Database Performance Slow

If my Whole Database Performance is slow,
running AWR report include current time statistics when the DB Performance is slow ?

The default AWR Snapshot Interval is 1 hour. So, if you have the default implementation, you will be able to create an AWR report for the period 10am to 11am. It will not reflect what or why "slowness" occurred at 10:45. The statistics in the AWR report will be a summation / averaging of all the activity in the entire hour.
You could modify the Snapshot Interval (using dbms_workload_repository.modify_snapshot_settings) to have Oracle collect snapshots every 15minutes. But that will apply after the change has been made. So, if you have a slowness subsequently, you will be able to investigate it with the AWR report for that period. But what has been collected in the past at hourly intervals cannot be refined any further.

  • TFS performance report pack not working on TFS 2013

    Hi
I have TFS 2013 setup and I found TFS performance report pack from http://blogs.msdn.com/b/granth/archive/2009/02/03/announcing-tfs-performance-report-pack.aspx URL.
These reports don't work after uploading to my report server. The blog talk about creating a shared data source TfsActivityReportDS
    and using Data Source=localhost;Initial Catalog=TfsActivityLogging
    as connection string.
I don't have any database by name TfsActivityReportDS in my TFS and as a result I am not able to run any report on my TFS 2013 server.
Is there any way to get these reports work for TFS 2013? Or is there other TFS performance report pack made for TFS 2013?
    Regards, Premal Acharya

    Hi Charles,
Thanks a ton for your help. :)
It worked on TFS 2013. I followed your steps. I also found one easy way to edit the queries mentioned in those rdl files. I opened them in text editor and replaced TfsActivityLogging with my TFS project name (Tfs_DefaultCollection). Saved rdl file and opened
it in report builder and then my job was only to modify the data source.
I really appreciate your help for getting the reports worked on TFS 2013.
However I am only stuck with one little issue pertained to Server Status - Source Control Request Queue.rdl file
This report file doesn't have any queries and it also uses XML as connection to the data source. When I run this report on my TFS server I am getting error as URL "http://localhost:8080/versioncontrol/v1.0/administration.asmx" not found.
Detailed information about the report file is given below.
    Report Name
Server Status - Source Control Request Queue
    Connection type
    XML
    Connection string in data source
    http://localhost:8080/versioncontrol/v1.0/administration.asmx

       </Method>
       <ElementPath IgnoreNamespaces="true">*</ElementPath>
    </Query>
    -------END---------
I don't know how to get it work. Your help and advice on this will be highly appreciated.
Thanks again for helping me to get other reports worked with TFS 2013.

  • Snap ids to generate performance report

    Hi,
I have a basic idea on statspack, and implementing this first time, looking for your help to generate statspack report.
    scenario is this :-
we have to do a performance testing during bulk loading which happens daily at night for 1 hour.
i have sheduled a job to generate snaps on every interval of 15 min say :-
    NAME SNAP_ID Date/Time
    oracle 4 13.11.2006:08:45:00
    oracle 1 13.11.2006:08:00:00
    oracle 2 13.11.2006:08:15:00
    oracle 3 13.11.2006:08:30:00
suppose at 08:00 there is no loading so i am considering this as a baseline snap ,
so, which snap ids i have to include to generate various performance report (like sp_1_2,sp_1_3,sp_14 etc) .
    Asif

Snap is a snap. A snapshot of database status at a given point in time. Statspack was designed to help DBA's diagnose the performance problems of a database during a particular interval of time by recording what all went on with the database.
If you are trying to analyze the database using only one snap, you will never get the correct picture.
Lets say in your case, you generate the report s_1 only which is before load. How will you diagnose the problem that happened after this snap?

  • Regarding Database Performance

    Hi All,
I have installed *10gR2 on RHEL4 (4GB -- RAM, space is enough)*. One application (oracle ucm) is running on that. Its contains apache and content server. After 2-3 weeks, developers were saying taking long time for opening url. So done gather database statistics (after that daily gathering db stats using scheduler). After that, it was working fine. Again after week they are having the prob. They are doing lot of dml on db. Checked in os level using top command. But oracle ( installed entire application as oracle) user is not consuming that much memory. set pga_aggregate_target to about 500M. Sga (sga_max_size --- 950M) is auto tuning. db is of size 8GB. workarea_policy_size is auto.
Please suggest any solutions for improving database performance.

  • Database Performance Monitoring

    Hi,
I use oracle 11.2.0.2.0,IBM AIX 6.1 operating System.
My client/User complainting that the Application process is taking long time than usual, especially when they implementing some module in their applications.
So when i closely monitoring my production(LIVE) database at the time of implementation,im unable to find any issues in DB side.So what are all the possibile areas to be focus on this situation?
I really thinks it could also possible that the issue belongs to the Network failure/bandwith running slow.
So what i really expect is ,Are they any monitoring tool or any trigger applicable/available for this scenario?
    Looking for Helpful Answers..
    Regards
    Faiz

for information ,Here i post my actuall scenario
Only in two out of 200 client branches ,the application performance was taking long time than usual,
So that i enable trace (TKPROOF)for that corresponding sessions, also i generate and analyze AWR report durig that particular time,
I found that no issues from database side.Later i come to know the actual issue was being in the Network side(i.e Network speed was very poor).
So henceforth,i have been asked that if the problem persists again,i need to make ensure that the problem which not belongs to Network part before go and check
    database performance.
So any tool or monitoring script or any packages available to make ensure that the actuall problem not belongs to Network related issues, befor check DB performance.
