Database schema problem

I granted object priviledge(e.g select) on a specific table
in my own schema to a specific person.
But when this person that I granted
access this table
.. error occured('table not exists')
not unless we put schema name beside this
(e.g dennis.payroll_transactions)
thank you very much in advance !

Hi,
You can do this two ways
1) If you have create public synonym privilege and you want all
other users to have the select privilege on this table, create a
public synonym as
Create public synonym payroll_tansaction for
dennis.payroll_transactions
and grant select privilege on this table to public.
The synonym name need not be payroll_transactions. If you name
the synonym as public_payroll, other users can select on this
table by query select * from public_payroll.
2) If you have create any synonym privilege,
create a private synonym for the specific person (dev) as
create synonym dev.payroll_transactions for
dennis.payroll_transactions
and grant select privilege on this table to dev.
Hope this will help.

  • Oracle 11g Database Schema problem

Hi I have installed the Enterprise Edition of Oracle 11g on windows XP SP2. I log in to Enterprise Manager. When I click on the schema tab I get the following error message.
    Error
Internal Error has occured. Check the log file for details.
Does anybody know why ? and which log file they are refering to?
Also can someone tell me where or how you can create normal users ?
    thanks

the related OC4J machine is failing, it could be due to a number of reasons. Sometimes it has to do with the TZ region Agent recognizes, but the only way to know it for sure is by taking a look at the operational log files. Those can be found at the EM Console directory under the ORACLE_HOME. You will see the ORACLE_HOME/EMConsoleDirectory/log at the log there are several files, take a look at them and feedback.

    Hi
I almost resolved the issue but i do not know whether it is a correct path that i used or not.
i have made some changes in build.sql as follow :
-i changed the schema name to HR , and its pass to HR_PASS
    -i comment schema creation command
    now it successfully executed.
but i can not understand what was the problem.
    Thanks

  • Installation stuck at Create database schema Phase 13 of 27

    Hi
I am installing the Netweaver 7.01 SP3 and have already removed it completely after getting stuck at the same installation step. Do not know what is going wrong. A small extract of the log is shown below. Any advice on how to proceed will be helpful. I know when einstalling it has to be removed completely which I did using uninstallation and then clean up tool. But again it is stooping at the same step. I had let it run more almost two days but of no use. My system configuration is good enough with 2GB RAM etc.

    Thanks in advance
    Vikas

Guess you are talking about sapinst.log file. Below are the last few lines after which it did not proceed
Do see the last step create DB schema....... The previos log was from sapinst_dev.log
Oliver I have a doubt could it be becuase of the host name.
The host name of my machine is "skumar278-1" with DNS domain name for SAP system "asiapac.globalcsc.net"
Could this be the reason for the problem i am facing i.e installation getting stuck at phase 13 Create DB schema.... Other than this I cannot see anything else which can go wrong.. Do have the DHCP server available..
The page file as per the ram settings i.e for 2 GB should be 3072 so I have set it to the same. Though
    the prerequisite page shows
"For the selected services at least 7138 MB swap space are recommended. Current value: 2851 MB. (Updated 2005-06-24)"
    Can this be the reason???
Also I just looked at the services file.. there are about about 4-5 different files with the name services .3 services.4 ...  services.5 etc als there is no entry for port 3900 3600 & 8000.. .. do not know what to do... Please suggest..

  • Database schema SCM does not contain the associated database objects

I am getting the following error when i am trying to migrate the form to apex using application migration.
"*Database schema SCM does not contain the associated database objects for the project, aafs.*
*Ensure the database schema associated with the project contains the database objects associated with the uploaded Forms Module .XML file(s).* ".
Actully i am having one schema which i named as SCM, and i have defined one table TT.
I created one form test.fmb in which i used TT table.its compiled successfully.
Then i generated the xml file using frmf2xml from fmb file. After that, I created the project in appication migration wizard in SCM schema.
Project creattion is working fine.but when i m trying to create application,it is showing me above error.
can any one help in solving this problem.

    Hi Hilary,
    Thanks for your response/feedback.
    1. The schema associated with the project does not contain the necessary objects Can you please verify that the schema associated with your Forms conversion project does in fact contain the objects associated with the uploaded files. Could you also verify that the object names referenced in the error message do not exist within the schema associated with your workspace. Ensure that the schema associated with the project contains the necessary database objects before proceeding to the generation phase of the conversion process.
    Ans:
Yes it does contain the objects (See results from SQL query Commands below):
    SELECT MWRA_CONTRACT_NO, OLD_CONTRACT_NO FROM PROJECTS@CONTRACT_LX19.MWRA.NET
    ORDER BY MWRA_CONTRACT_NO
    000000569 551TA

    2. The block being converted contains buttons, which may have been incorrectly identified as database columns, and included in the original or enhanced query associated with your block This is a known issue ,bug 9827853, and a fix will be available in our upcoming 4.0.1 patch release. Some possible solutions to this issue are:
-> delete the buttons before generating the XML
-> delete the button tags from the XML
-> add "DatabaseItem=No" for the button in the XML file before importing it in Apex. The button is excluded when creating the Application.
    Ans
yes it does contain push buttons to transfer to another forms and these are defined as Non data base items. Parial XML code provided below:
    - <Item Name="REPORTS" FontSize="900" DirtyInfo="true" Height="188" XPosition="4409" FontName="Fixedsys" ForegroundColor="black" DatabaseItem="false" Width="948" CompressionQuality="None" YPosition="3709" FontSpacing="Normal" Label="REPORTS" BackColor="canvas" FillPattern="transparent" ShowHorizontalScrollbar="false" FontWeight="Medium" ShowVerticalScrollbar="false" FontStyle="Plain" ItemType="Push Button">

  • VS2013 suddenly unable to read database schema on Azure server

    Hi,
I have 2 databases on an azure server. Everything worked well until yesteday: VS2013 is now unable to read any database schema on this Azure server (same operations on an SQL EXPRESS instance are performed without problem).
When I try to open any table definition, I have "the designer encountered an error while loading the table definition"
When I try to rebuild after update the model (EF6) from database (I added a stored procedure), I have:
"The target database schema could not be retrieved. Unable to reconnect to database: Timeout expired.  The timeout period elapsed prior to completion of the operation or the server is not responding. " (note that when I launched "update
model from database", I had no problem. The fuss happens during the build).
But I still can read data and execute procedure from Azure using VS 2013. I did not alter any credential. Using the same credentials, I still can create/update tables/procédures from Azure portal.
I am a very basic user of VS2013 and Azure, I did not install or create anything weird on it.
I emphisize same operations on an SQL EXPRESS instance are performed without problem.
    Thanks for help.

    Hello Olivier,
Sorry for the inconvenience because of the above issue.
Could you please try the new SSDT (preview) tool and check if you are able to get the table definition or not.

  • Cascade delete in container or database schema?

I am creating a database schema which I want to map EJB CMP Entity Beans onto. There are a number of relationships in the schema where I want to cascade deletion if a parent record is deleted and a number of relationships where I want to prevent deletion of parent records if child records exist for the relationship.
I am wondering whether it is better to implement this in the database schema (Oracle) or in the container (JBoss 3.2.2)? I believe it is possible to implement cascading delete in the container but I am not sure about preventing delete in the container? Is there a way I could do it programmatically? I want to use CMP though so I'm not sure there would be much scope for that.
Are there any rules as to which approach is better? Will the container have a problem if I implement it in the database schema? Obviously the ejbRemove may throw an exception if I prevent deletion in a relationship but that is fine. I believe it is not a good idea to implement it in both the container and schema as there will be a conflict when they both try to delete records.
    Thanks.

Container's cascade-deleting in jboss(tm)3.2.x working properly with any scope:
    This example with 1 scope:

  • SIMPLE Database Design Problem !

Mapping is a big problem for many complex applications.
So what happens if we put all the tables into one table called ENTITY?
I have more than 300 attributeTypes. And there will be lots of null values in the records of that single table as every entityType uses the same table.
Other than wasting space if I put a clustered index on my entityType coloumn in that table. What kind of performance penalties to I get?
    Definition of the table
    ENTITY
    EntityID > uniqueidentifier
    EntityType > Tells the entityTypeName
    Name >
    LastName >
    CompanyName > 300 attributeTypes
    OppurtunityPeriod >
PS:There is also another table called RELATION that points the relations between entities.

    >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
check the coloumn with WHERE _entityType='PERSON'
as there is is clustered index on entityType...there
    is NO performance decrease.
there is also a clustered index on RELATION table on
    relationType
when we say WHERE _entityType ='PERSON' or
    WHERE relationType='CONTACTMECHANISM'.
it scans the clustered index first.it acts like a
table as it is physically ordered.I was thinking in terms of using several conditions in the same select, such as
    WHERE _entityType ='PERSON'
AND LastName LIKE 'A%' In your case you have to use at least two indices, and since your clustered index comes first ...
    >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Have you ever thought of using constraints in your
modell? How would you realize those?
...in fact we did.We have arranged the generic object
model in an object database. The knowledge information
is held in the object database. So your relational database is used only as a "simple" storage, everything has go through your object database.
But the data schema is held in the RDBMS with code
generation that creates a schema to hold data.If you think that this approach makes sense, why not.
But in able to have a efficent mapping and a good
performance we have thought about building only one
table. The problem is we know we are losing some space
but the thing is harddisk is much cheaper than RAM
and CPU.So our trade off concerated on the storage
cost. But I still wonder if there is a point that I
have missed in terms performance?Just test your approach by using sufficiently data - only you know how many records you have to store in your modell.
PS: it is not wise effective using generic object
models also in object databases as CPU cost is a lot
when u are holding the data.I don't know if I'd have taken your approach - using two database systems to hold data and business logic.
PS2: RDBMS is a value based system where object
databases are identity based.we are trying to be in
the gray area of both worlds.Like I wrote: if your approach works and scales to the required size, why not? I would assume that you did a load test with your approach.
What I would question though is that your discussing a "SIMPLE Database Design" problem. I don't see anything simple in your approach when it comes to implementation.

  • A question about database schema when creating JClient Form

    Sir,
I created a JClient Form application using the wizard, in which a JCLoginDialog was generated. Then I modified the JCLoginDialog.java file so that it works with JDBC instead of with the OracleAS JAAS Provider. My name is the database schama name, and I created the form using my name.
When I log in using my name, It is fine. But when my colleague log in using her name, it is failed. The error message said that the table is not found. My colleague has access of the related database table through a database role.
I think it is the schema problem when I create the model project. I do not know how to add the schema name before the table name, such as stephen.mytable .
    Please help me. Thanks
    Stephen

I have solve the problem. That was a mistake I made.

  • Slow database/schema - network OK

We have an arrangement at a users site that has an IIS web server connected to an Oracle database Schema. The ping (<1ms) and trace route between them are very healthy. The web server is OK too. Yet when the server reads and writes data to the database the process is very slow.
We’ve even taken the web server out of the equation and got the DBA to run a small script that inserts and deletes data and captures some timings. The result is the read and write (Select, update and delete) take at least 200% longer than in most other environments we ran the same test in. All in all the bottle neck is the Oracle 9 server.
The database server itself is supposed to be very powerful. Any suggestions?

I don't think there is anything wrong with the Actual SQL of the application, under normal circumstances it is quite efficient, we have it running on several servers with no problems. The test script was devised to prove it wasn't the SQL of the application or the application server itself. It creates a table with two columns and using loops inserts, updates and deletes the data. The test table is index on the ID column.
In using this test script on other servers the time it took to complete the operations was very quick except for this one Oracle 9 server. We understand the server is hosting serveral Oracle databases each containing several users and schemas also in the afternoons the time the operation takes can be even longer pointing towards some sort of load management issue.

  • URGENT: Show the Database Schema in a JSP

    Hi,
I want to make a JSP to show the Database Schema.
    I'm using JDev 10.1.2 + ADF/Struts + Oracle Database.
I need show the tablenames in this page.
    How to do this ?

    more details;
    1. I developed a web-application, and now, I want to include a new module:
    - Import and Export database objects.
    2. I have a Stored Procedure that receives two parameters:
    - The table name and the operation(import or export).
This Stored Procedure import/export the table to/from a DBF file.
Well, I found two solutions and two problems:
    ---- Solution 01 ------
-> To make one Store Procedure to get the table object names and show this result in a JSP.
    ---- The Problem ----
I do not know how to "to pass/to transfer" the connection object from the Application Module to a JDBC connection object or from an Application Module execute a Stored Procedure.
    ---- Solution 02 -----
-> From the ADF objects, browsing the database objects(schema) to a JSP.
    ---- The Problem ----
I do not know how to do this. I do not know which objects to use.
Please, give-me an idea, how to do this, and in the your opinion which is the best solution.
thanks for any reply, for any help.

  • Migrating reports to new database schema

    Hi,
My company has numerous Crystal Reports .RPT files that work against the existing database schema, but we are moving to a new database with a significantly different schema.
Rather than have to manually recreate new RPT files for all the reports, it would be nice if it would be possible to automate the process.
I have looked through the documentation for the various Java APIs and am completely confused as to whether this is possible and, if so, the best way to do it.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks,

    Hello,
-> Are you using the "@" character in the passwords of the database users?
-> May be the issue is similar to the reported in the SAP Note 848436?
-> Please try to run the installation with default passwords:
           control/control
