  • Can anyone recommend a good UPK library structure for Oracle financials 11.5.10.2 (using UPK 11.1)?

    Hi, Can anyone recommend a good UPK library structure for Oracle financials 11.5.10.2 (using UPK 11.1) please?

    If you are using the application server that comes with Oracle Applications - you probably need to use the JDeveloper version that comes with that one too. (The OAF forum will have more info on this).
    If you are using JDeveloper 10.1.3 then you can use a stand alone OC4J 10.1.3 to deploy your applications - and save yourself the hassle of messing up with your apps server.

  • Configuring Weblogic's jDriver for Oracle to use in distributed transactions

              Here is some errata to the instructions at "Configuring XA JDBC drivers" section of the online beta documentation:
              http://www.weblogic.com/docs60/adminguide/managetx.html#1041268
              The sample JDBC connection pool using Weblogic jDriver for Oracle should be:
              <JDBCConnectionPool
              Name="fundsXferAppPool"
              Targets="myserver"
              URL="jdbc:weblogic:oracle:localdb"
              DriverName="weblogic.jdbc.oci.xa.XADataSource"
              InitialCapacity="0"
              MaxCapacity="5"
              CapacityIncrement="1"
              Properties="user=scott;password=tiger;server=localdb;rmid=0"
              />
              <JDBCTxDataSource
              Name="fundsXferDataSource"
              Targets="myserver,server1"
              JNDIName="myapp.fundsXfer"
              PoolName="fundsXferAppPool"
              />
              Here is an example of an additional XA connection pool for a second database instance:
              <JDBCConnectionPool
              Name="fundsXferAppPool2"
              Targets="myserver"
              URL="jdbc:weblogic:oracle:localdb2"
              DriverName="weblogic.jdbc.oci.xa.XADataSource"
              InitialCapacity="0"
              MaxCapacity="5"
              CapacityIncrement="1"
              Properties="user=scott;password=tiger;server=localdb2;rmid=1"
              />
              <JDBCTxDataSource
              Name="fundsXferDataSource2"
              Targets="myserver,server1"
              JNDIName="myapp.fundsXfer2"
              PoolName="fundsXferAppPool2"
              />
              Please note the different "rmid" values for the 2 different database instances. Note also that the above sample only applies for Beta 1. Instructions may change in the future for Beta 2.
              Also, all the names of the data source properties shown in "Table 8-2 Data Source Properties for WebLogic jDriver for Oracle" should start with lower case.
              The Beta 1 online documentation will soon be updated to reflect the above. Our apologies for any inconvenience caused.

    You don't need a DSN if you use Oracle's JDBC driver.
    You didn't read ANY of the previous replies. What makes you think this one willk help? Or any instruction, for that matter?
    Sounds like you just want someone to give it to you. OK, I'll bite, but you have to figure out the rest:

  • Which structure is Oracle NoSQL used default? BTree or Hash ?

    Hello,
    Which structure is Oracle NoSQL used default? BTree or Hash ?
    Thank you for your answers.

    Oracle NoSQL Database uses Berkeley DB Java Edition as the storage engine. BDB JE only has a b-tree access method.

    I bought an external hard drive for backups to use with Time Machine, but however when I try to connect it with the other windows laptop it doesn't work ? intact it doesn't work on any other device except my MAC ?

    Do not worry about it.
    Time Machine needs that your external drive is formatted in HFS+, or better known as "Mac OS Extended (Journaled)". This filesystem is used by Apple on Macs and Windows cannot read or write drives formatted with this filesystem, being this the reason why all your devices do not read the external drive except your Mac.
    You can only use your external drive to make Time Machine drives. If you store anything different, you may damage the Time Machine structure, so it is better not to use it as a drive to store other data. Instead, get another external drive to do it or create a second partition on the external drive formatted in FAT32 by using Disk Utility > http://pondini.org/OSX/DU3.html FAT32 can be read by Windows PCs

  • 'Missing select' error for update statement using WITH clause

    Hi,
    I am getting the below error for update statement using WITH clause
    SQL Error: ORA-00928: missing SELECT keyword
      UPDATE A
      set A.col1 = 'val1'
         where
      A.col2 IN (
      WITH D AS
      SELECT col2 FROM
      (SELECT col2, MIN(datecol) col3 FROM DS
      WHERE <conditions>
        GROUP BY PATIENT) D2
      WHERE
      <conditions on A.col4 and D2.col3>

    Hi,
    The format of a query using WITH is:
    WITH  d  AS
        SELECT  ...  -- sub_query
    SELECT  ...   -- main query
    You don't have a main query.  The keyword FROM has to come immediately after the right ')' that ends the last WITH clause sub-query.
    That explains the problem based on what you posted.  I can't tell if the real problem is in the conditions that you didn't post.
    I hope this answers your question.
    If not, post a complete test script that people can run to re-create the problem and test their ideas.  Include a little sample data (CREATE TABLE and INSERT statements, relevant columns only) for all the tables involved, and the results you want from that data.
    In the case of a DML operation (such as UPDATE) the sample data should show what the tables are like before the DML, and the results will be the contents of the changed table(s) after the DML.
    Explain, using specific examples, how you get those results from that data.
    Always say what version of Oracle you're using (e.g. 11.2.0.2.0).

  • Database structure for a 5 star ratings system

    This is something I've been asked to look at creating. At the moment the site has a database back end storing details of a few hundred holiday properties. So that part is already set up.
    So I'm familiar enough with databases etc, but less so the formulas and any additional database structure for any voting.
    It would be pretty simple, ie visitors could vote 1, 2, 3 4, or 5 stars for any property.
    There needs to be a total score recorded somewhere for each property.
    And the site needs to display the average score for that property.
    Any pointers on this much would be much appreciated.
    Thanks.

    Consider my wrist duly slapped.
    Yes, Google is an excellent resource, although in my experience for many things such as this a search will return 101 different ways of doing something, many of which will do, or explain, 80% of what you need.
    So sometimes posting on a forum is better for getting a recommendation from someone for a good tutorial on something.

  • Test scripts for oracle applications using qtp testing tool

    hi
    i want some test scripts for oracle applications using qtp testing tool
    regards

    You will need to create separate scripts for Load testing. The functional scripts cannot be used in OLT. The exceptions to this would be the "General" items (Java Code Script & Web Services) which can also be used in OLT.
    e.g. Instead of selecting "Functional Testing - Oracle EBS/Forms"
    select "Load Testing (Protocol Automation) - Oracle EBS/Forms"
    Once you get into load testing you'll realise that you want to create very specific scripts and won't want to try re-using functional scripts. I know a lot of such tools are 'sold' on the fact that functional scripts can be re-used for load, but when it comes down to it you'll want to design your load scripts seperately anyway!

  • Creation of a database engine for mobile devices using j2me

    am trying to develop a database engine for mobile devices.. it is to develop a miniature version of the DBMS that
    can be deployed on a mobile phone..I have to develop my own code for performing tasks such a s creating a table,
    inserting values into it, selecting from it etc..
    I limited my self to develop the software so that it can perform 3 functionalities of create, insert,select..
    I should be taking the details such as table name and its parameters from the user and then should be able to
    create a suitable data structure for it(i tried to develop a class)...
    Usage of RMS package helps me partially in this.. I did that and ll be doing that..
    I got stuck while developing the code for creation of a table.. I am facing problems in creating a dynamic data
    structure for a table and also to use such data structure else where in my project..
    I need help in developing an algorithm for this..
    I would be very grateful to u all if u help me out in developing the code for this project..

    I'm sorry for the amount of time it took me to get back. Derby is an open source database written entirely in Java. I do not know if it can support resource constrained devices like MIDP compliant, but may work okay with CLDC.
    But outside of Derby being a solution, let me give you a few ideas off the top of my head.
    Set up a database server in a separate thread. This server will really be your controller for RMS access.
    Since RMS is just a big sequential 'pipe' you will have to think of data as 'frames' - (starttable) (tableID) (tablename) (data) (tablename) (data).....(endtable).
    When you need to write additional data, just append it to the end of the RMS object.
    When you need to retrieve data, thing are more complex.
    1. Read in all data, looking for your particular tableID. This may be made much easier using RMS filters - (I'm not sure, I've never used them)
    2. Once start of table of interest is found, stick the data elements in either a java vector or array until you reach the table end identifier. I think vector will be a better choice - trust me. (I think its available in J2ME...)
    3. Package this into a do while loop until the element you are searching for is read. If you need to do some sorts on the data or something else that requires the all the data to be present then you need all the data for that particular table. One thing will always be clear. The first data you grab will always be some start table identifier and the last data you grab will be an end table identifier. We just don't know which table because of how we put stuff in the RMS resource.
    This provides you a few positives as well as negatives:
    Positive:
    1. Fast data writes, no need to search for a particular table before accessing it, nor do you need to search for an index in that table.
    2. When looking for data, data may* be found without searching through the entire table. This is accomplished with RMS filters or logic test within the RMS read loop.
    Negative:
    1. Slow when all data of a table is needed (i.e. compute sums or averages of entries). The entire RMS database must be read to ensure all the entries are searched. An example of how this is a problem is as follows: You have 5000 entries in you RMS database resource and you are looking to compute the average of a value in some table. When you first wrote the data to the table, it was done sequentially and no other data for that table exist. But we can't tell if that's the case, so we have to read through all 5000 entries to make sure we looked for every piece of data.
    Beacuse of this issue, this database structure, performance may be fine for 50K - 100K entries (depending on table element size), if the reading requirements don't force full data reads. Otherwise, 25K may be an upper limit.
    I hope this helps.

  • To create a database link from oracle to sqlserver with NT authentication

    Hi ,
    I need to create a database link from oracle 9i to sql server database with windows authentication.I dont have the database username and password instead the access is given to my NT ID and password.So can anyone provide me the information about creating a dblink to sql server with windows authentication.
    Thanks

    Oracle is attempting to log in to SQL Server using NT authentication.
    The Oracle process, however, is running presumably with a local admin account (normal for a Windows service). SQL Server has no idea what this local account is, so it denies the login.
    You could change the Oracle service to run as a known user (presumably not as your Windows ID but some other Windows ID you create explicitly for Oracle) and then grant that Windows ID in SQL Server appropriate privileges. That would mean, though, that when you queried tables over the database link, you'd be using that new Windows ID's privileges on SQL Server, not your Windows ID's privileges.
    As I've said, though, this is a general architectural limitation for a multi-tier architecture. The end system (SQL Server) generally has no idea who the end user (your Windows ID) is when that user is coming through a middle tier (Oracle). So it cannot apply end-user permissions to connections created by the middle tier.

  • Database Structure For Articles and Categories

    Hi - This is a question about database structure - please help. Thanks
    For a website with many subjects or themes is it best to use 1 big table to hold or the articles or many small tables to hold articles for different subjects - I will explain what I mean.
    Say my website has a 'cooking' section, a 'sports' section and a general 'blog' section.
    In each section the articles will be organized into different sub-categories but I can't see a way to do this.
    Case 1: All the articles are stored in 1 table. There is a second table which 'assigns' an article to a category (the cateogries themselves are stored in a separate table) and also assigns a sub-category (sub-categories stored in a separate table???) and then what if there needed to be a sub-sub-cateogry?? This just doesn't seem to work well!
    Case 2: For each theme there is a separate table - Cooking Table, Sports Table, Blog Table. And for each separate table there is a categories table Cooking-Categories which assigns each cooking article a sub-cateogry (and the sub-categories are stored in a separate table also) - and what if I needed to make a sub-sub-category - then would I need to make another table? This just sounds like a lot of tables even though the end result would probably be easier!
    Case 3: All categories are stored in 1 table - as well as all subcateogires of those categories as well as all sub-sub categories, etc (each with an ID)... Each article is 'assigned' a category ID
    Please someone show me the light! I am confusing myself.
    Thanks
    Chris

    There is no 'best' way of creating a database. It's more logic that is involved in examining the parameters that determine what DB will suit your current requirement. These parameters may include but aren't limited to:
    Latency
    Performance
    Sortability
    Accessibility
    Ease-of-use
    Scalability
    If I were you, for the said purpose, I'd create with 4 tables as follows:
    Categories - this will hold your main categoriesCatID, Name, Order ID
    Sub-CategotiesSubCatID, CatID (that the SubCat is linked to), Name, Order ID
    Sub-Sub CategoriesSubSubCatID, SubCatID, CatID, Name, Order Id
    ArticlesArticleID, SubSubCatID (can hold multiple Sub-Sub-categories) SubCatID (can hold multiple Sub-categories), CatID (can hold multiple Categotries), Name, Order ID, Article Title, Article Description, Article Thumbnail, URL Name, Metatags (for SEO, if you're looking at doing SEO)
    The CatID in Article Table will usually be an INT value with limited chars, the SubCatID and SubSubCatID in Article Table will ideally be a varchar value with about 200 chars so you could assign multiple SubCatIDs to one article.
    I'd like to add here that this is very much a debatable post. What suits me may not suit you and/ or the others who may read this post! But this way, I can accomplish my programming/ coding task/ CMS integration with ease-of-use.
    Good luck with your DB!

  • Migration bigger database structure Informix- Oracle : neverending process ?

    I have problem: I tried to convert Informix source model to oracle model (real database structure - several tenths of tables, triggers, procedures, ... - without data). Log window "Creating oracle model" appeared and icon and text "Mapping" had been showed. And this state stayed permanent. Nothing following happened, no next changes on file 'omwb.odb' I could to see. After 6
    hours i 'clicked' on 'Abort' button. On following Workbench showed message that it could not to do abort and recommended me to restart program.
    Are there some limitations in Workbench for complexity of database structure ? How many time can take obviously creating of Oracle model from real (but empty) database ? Can it take more then 6 hours ?!
    null

    No, 6 hours is too long, something has gone wrong with the migration. Please send the error.log file (under %ORACLE_HOME%/Omwb/log) and a description of the problem to [email protected] and we shall do our best to assist you.

    Brian.
