Database Synchronisation

Hi,
I have 2 oracle databases that I need to keep synchronised in real-time. They both have different data structures and updates can be made to both databases through different systems. i.e. two-way synch.
I am currently thinking that I could use triggers on tables in both databases with a log table that both databases can access.
Could anybody give me advice on whether this would be a good idea? Are there any alternative methods that I could investigate

it is somewhat complicated to guess what you really want to do. the technologies, which might help you include:
- make tables in the either database visible via a database-link
- setup snapshot-replication between the database. this can be done either in a way, that data can be updated on both sides or in a way, that tables are read-only in one system.
- setup a multi-matser replication between the two databases. there are again many options like doing it synchronously or asynchronously.
after setting up some replicated environemnets i am quite sure, that it is normally no good idea to write a replication on your own -- it looks quite easy from the distance but error-handling is terribly complex.

Some doubt regarding oracle 9i lite

Hai,
I am doing R @ D on 9i lite. My scenario is as follows,
1. first i installed oracle 8i 8.1.7 database.
2. using oracle 9i lite 5.0.2 setup, In another machine instllaing mobile server and mobile development kit.
3. how to synchronize the 9i lite database with my 8i database.
My scenario is i need to create a standalone mobile server environment.
help me.

Your environment is older versions than we use, but the basic process for creating oracle lite client databases synchronised with the main server database is as follows
1) install the mobile server following the installation guide.
This will create the mobile server repository (schema MOBILEADMIN) and application on the app server or standalone. For production the repository data would normally be a seperate schema in the main database, and the mobile application running on one of the app servers
2) next you need to create your 'application'.
This consists of defining the tables or views from the main system you want to be able to synchronise with the offline clients. If you are just starting, the easiest way is to use the wtgpack wizard that comes as a part of the development kit. Start this up, create an application name, specify the client environment it will be going to (eg: WIN 32 or PPC2003) do the connection to the main server schema, select a table from the main system you want to synchronise, and take it through to publish
For the first go to see it working i would advise keeping it simple and just picking a small table, and set the refresh option to complete, with server wins in the conflict resolution. Once you have got things working, you can then go back and add other tables and start to look at using thre data subsetting to select only data relevant to a particular client, fast refresh options, and using views from the main system as the basis for the snapshots (in 5.0.2 i would avoid sequences)
3) when the application is published, start up the mobile manager tool
you should now be able to see the application you created, and the publication items (the tables that will be synchrionised). You now need to go to users and create a user and associate them with the application
4) set up client device
on a device of the type you want to synchrionse with (we use PDAs), go into IE, and enter the mobile server URL/webtogo/setup. This will give a list of the downloadable clients. Pick the appropriate one and follow the install instructions, using the user/password set up above
5) synchronise
on the client device run the msync utility. This will ask you for the user name/password and the server url, enter these and press the sync button and two datyabase files (.odb) should be created on the client - a control one concli, and one with the same name as your application. The client set up should have also installed a utility msql that you can use to look at the new local database

User and Group information not updated in Sharepoint 2010

Hi,
Recently, our orgnisation has maked update of user and group in the Active Diractory. The information was not update in the site collection. I was try to :
-recreate and synchronize a new service application ( no effect)
- Delete old database synchronisation( stsadm -o sync -deleteolddatabases 5)
- stsadm -o sync -synctiming m:5 and stsadm -o sync -sweeptiming m:5 (No effect)
-I have no error or warning whn i make the synchronisation, all data bases is started.
Anyone can help me please??

Does this mean that once a "flow" is created in a primary box, the state information will be replicated to the backup one? Are there any delay in the state replication? Is there any routine state database sync in addition to the real time replication?

as mentioned in the doc, when the flow is created on the active box, the flow info is immediately forwarded to the standby device.
Full database synchronisation will only occurs after failover of one of the two devices.

Due to some reasons that link is down, could any one suggest how we keep continue synchronisation of these two databases, we can not modify any thing on DATABASE A we can only read it as it is master database while DATABSE B is updated by A.
Table of DATABASE A is containing 2 Million records same with B. Can any one let me know how to compare the rows of the tables of each database and if some rows are missing in DATABASE B it should be updated by DATABASE A.
Please suggest any solution so that both databases should be kepy synchroinised at table rows level.

To compare table try :

i have two databases having tables with same fields and i would like to transfer the data from one database to the other , how do i do that? is there any link which talks about synchronisation of data between two databases?

We are using a Customised ERP based on Oracle 8i And Developer 5i.We have Four Servers Lying to four Different Locations.For Synchronisation to Primary server.We used to export data from all locations and import it over here.Its a very Hectic Job , takes more than 2-3 Hours.Now as we want to have Consolidated Sales on Daily Basis.So is there any other means to synchronise all servers with our Primary Server.I have used the concept of materialised view too But for So much table Replication takes a long Time.

Synchronising 2 Palm devices with 2 different Outlook database on the same PC

Hi,
My wife and I are both equiped with Palms (T5 and T3).
On the familly PC (W7 64 bits) we would like to sync each Palm on a different Outlook (2003) datafile already existing. There only one Outlook profile existing but depending on the email accounts, emails are directed to one database or the otherone.
Once installed the aceeca usb driver (64b..), there was no pb to sync with Palm Desktop.
But I wanted to switch to sync with Outlook, beginning by calendars, there only one calendar available.
As I dont want to mess up the 2 calendard I cancelled the sync.
What is the trick to have separated syncs with the existing 2 different Outlool database files?

Your contacts are not part of your iTunes library. iTunes only syncs contacts with your phone from a supported program such as Outlook or mac Address Book. If you are trying to sync you contacts to the same program they will be merged. You could, however, set up two contact groups within Outlook, one for your contacts and one for his. Both groups would still besynced to both devices but you wouldn't have to look at the contact group you weren't interested in. Another option would be for one of you to continue to sync with iTunes with, for example, Outlook and the other sync contacts with another service such as Google or iCloud (be sure to uncheck Sync Contacts on the Info tab of the the iTunes sync settings for this phone).

I have got two databases and there is a transparent partition between both these databases with MYACT being the source database and MY06W being the target databse. whenever there is any addition of members to my source database how do i sync my target database using maxl script. Can anyone of you help me out in this regard....

You could also look into the partitioning synchronisation seeing as you have already developed the partitions.
You can set outline changes to pass the same way as the data or vice versa and it keeps track of changes in .chg files.
Have a review of this functionality, it may be the simpler way to complete.

How to connect one database in two threads?

If anyone can tell me how to connect one database concurrently?
I tried the following idea:
1.create a Hashtable to keep database objects(those databases have been opened)
2.Before openning(connecting) a database:first step is to check the hashtable.
If the the database object is in the hashtable, this object will be returned.
If the datatbase object is not in the hastable, open the database and store this opened database object into the hashtable.
I failed the test of this implementation. My test is:Create two threads (extend java Thread class).In each of these two threads, try to open the same database.Just like the following:
MyThread thread1 = new MyThread();
MyThread thread2 = new MyThread();
thread1.start();
thread2.start();
I guessed the database object in the hashtable would be returned in the second thread.Unfortunatly, I only got an exception which meant the database couldn't be opened twice.It looks like the second thread happened before the opened database object stored into the hashtable.
I cannot figure out if my design is wrong or my test application is wrong.

um not sure i follow exactly but in your code add the word synchronise to it and this means only 1 tread can access it at any 1 time.
So your could have a class which is a singleton so it only opens the dbase once and then all other access share your connection.
so
public class foo{
foo INSTANCE = new foo();
private foo(){} //private constructor
then all your methods use foo's internal dbase connection. Am i making sense

ITunes & iPod song synchronisation problem.

Dear Experts,
I want iTunes to scan through it's song database and remove from its Library the songs that no longer exist on my iPod.
The reason for this is that once I've copied tracks to the iPod, I delete them from the Mac's hard disk. So now, my iTunes library has lots of tracks listed which are NOT present on the iPod.
i.e. is there a script which can synchronise the contents of playlists (which contain tracks on my iPod) with the main iTunes library,so that the Library lists ONLY the songs present on the iPod and playlists?
Any idea on how to do this? Suggestions gratefully received. (I have searched the forum without any succcess and I've checked the iTunes script site.)

Why assume that Podcasts are not music? Or that files in a user's Library are music? I subscribe to music podcasts and my Library has many audio books and spoken word recordings. Shouldn't my iPod let me arrange these tracks in the order of my choice, rather than assuming (incorrectly most of the time) that I would want the podcasts on top? I don't think I would have any difficult finding and playing podcasts if Apple left my song order untouched. (Needless to say, like the originator of this thread, I am not using it in "shuffle" mode.)

and listen to just Podcasts (and not music) if they
were NOT placed at the top of the list in that play

How to get "Synchronize with database" to compare/generate changes for database 'contexts'?

Using SDDM 3.3.
How does one get to synchronise changes/differences in 'contexts' (defined in physical model - Oracle DB)?
I have tried to synchronize both ways, i.e. model to db and db to model, but never does it show the DDL necessary to create the missing context.
Yes, Context is selected/ticked under preferences for Oracle DB synchronization preferences.

If I use the "generate DDL" option from the toolbar, it does generate DDL for the context I have in the physical model. I can select/deselect them in the DDL Generation Options window.
Why then would it not generate DDL when comparing the model with the database, i.e. using the "synchronise data dictionary to model" option? It successfully generates a 'patch'/change script for tables, views, packages, etc.?
