Databinding.cpx in 10.1.2

We have a problem with loading the cpx-File.
In 9.0.5.2 it was possible to move the cpx-file into a different location(i.e. "prodatic.application.cltAbrechnung.DataBindings.cpx"instead of "DataBindings.cpx") and load it from there in the bootstrap-code.
With the new release 10.1.2 this is no longer possible. We get the error
"oracle.jbo.InvalidDefNameException: JBO-25004: Definition name prodatic/application/cltAbrechnung/DataBindings.cpx for type Application Definition is invalid"
We tried to debug this problem, but we have no source-files for oracle.jbo.mom.DefinitionManager.java, so we get no result.
Can anyone help us?

Can you provide detailed steps to reproduce the problem in 10.1.2 ?
Are you seeing the problem after migrating a 9.0.5.2 application to 10.1.2, or while developing a new application under 10.1.2 ?

  • Databinding.cpx and Plugins

    Hello,
    I use JDeveloper 10.1.3 and I want to have multiple Databindings.cpx for a Swing JClient project.
    I have currently a core Application with one Databindings.cpx. Now I want to be able to extend this core application with multiple plugins. It is very essential that the core application works without any plugin.
    So I've created an extra project in my Application for each plugin. Since some plugins provide windows that use ADF Databinding the plugin projects have Databindings.cpx files too. On Designtime this is no problem but during Runtime the Databindings.cpx of the plugins doesn't get found, although I've changed the filename of the cpx file and provided this new name to mgr.loadCpx() method call.
    I've already searched the forum and the only possible solution for 10.1.3 (upgrading is not possible) seems to be merging the cpx files. For the few plugins now it may be an option (a pretty pretty ugly one. Almost as bad as Spaghetti code) but it may be impossible to use later when I have a huge amount of plugins.
    Isn't there another solution? The content of the core cpx file needs to be registered somewhere. Why can't I add manually additional entries?
    regards
    joerg
    P.S.
    It is very anoying that there is no javadoc for the loadCpx method. Ok, it is generated by JDeveloper but how should a Developer understand the code when there is not javadoc?

    Joerg,
    Is [url http://technology.amis.nl/blog/?p=653]this blog entry of any help to you?
    Best,
    John

  • DataBinding.cpx & 10.1.3 production

    Now that dataBindings.cpx includes a path do we still need to have ONLY one when we deploy?
    if there any additional information on the use of panelBinding.findNestedPanelBinding ?
    does this method find bindingPageDefs only located in the current package?

    anyone?

  • How to change default encoding in DataBindings.cpx

    Hello,
    How to change default encoding in DataBindings.cpx,
    on windows-1251 for instance?

    I've filed Bug# 3147045 for this. Our DataBinding.cpx file and UIModel XML files seem to be getting hardcoded to use the ISO-8859-1 encoding. Our ADF Business Components XML files correctly pickup the IDE encoding.

  • Cpx and jpx file

    Hi,
    Can anybody tell me why we need cpx and jpx files when we deploy web application developed with Jdev9i on oc4j stand alone application server ?
    I would like to know in detail of cpx and jpx files when server is looking into these files and for what ?
    Thanks

    Hi,
    *.cpx – speaking for ADF: The DataBinding.cpx file is automatically created and contains the data controls for the business service used within an application as well as a reference to the UI client model definition in the UIModel.xml files.
    Before ADF the cpx file was used to configure the AM module refrence to BC4J
    *.jpx - the online help does describe it as follows:
    Oracle ADF Business Components projects are very similar to other JDeveloper projects. However, in addition to the .jpr file that governs all JDeveloper projects, a Oracle ADF Business Components project is defined by a .jpx file that contains the following information:
    - The database connection used by the project
    - Whether to subclass framework classes for the project or just use XML Message bundles to use in the project (which aids in internationalization)
    - Whether to immediately load all packages in the project when the server starts up
    - Which business components to substitute for components in the project (which aids in customizing legacy Oracle ADF applications)
    - Which base classes to use, if the framework has been extended Any custom declaritive validation rules registered with the project
    The cpx file is requiered at runtime the jpx not as I see it.

  • How to change default encoding in java?

    Hi,
    I want to set the default encoing to "UTF-8" while starting the application itself. How to achieve this. I know this can be acheived by java -D option but I want to know the property name.
    Thanks in advance for your reply.
    Rajani Kanth

    I've filed Bug# 3147045 for this. Our DataBinding.cpx file and UIModel XML files seem to be getting hardcoded to use the ISO-8859-1 encoding. Our ADF Business Components XML files correctly pickup the IDE encoding.

  • How to copy a Jdev project to another Jdev on a different machine

    I have an application running in JDev 9052 using uix and bc4j objects connecting to an Oracle database. It is running on a Terminal Server Windows 2000 machine.
    I want to move this project to a different PC in a different location running Windows XP professional and Oracle Personal Version.
    I have done a clean install of JDeveloper 9052 and zipped up the project on the Terminal Server and downloaded it to the new location. I setup my JDeveloper environment to be identical to the original. Same JDevhome and My work environment and so on.
    The only difference is that the connection information is slightly different since the host name and SID are different. The connection name is the same.
    After unzipping the project into the new environment, I open the projects JWS file to add it in. I then rebuild the bc4j and web portions of the project. I can then run the bc4j part and see the database records. I can also open up my UIX pages in the preview section and they connect to the database properly.
    When I run the application from JDeveloper I get the following error: The page cannot be found
    This is caused by the URL being rendered improperly. What it tries to find is:
    http://192.168.1.101:8988/SMART/Login.uix%20"%1"
    If I erase the characters at the end in the browser address field and get:
    http://192.168.1.101:8988/SMART/Login.uix
    Then the application will work.
    The only thing I can figure out is that I don't transfer the application properly.
    Does anyone have any ideas on what is wrong here?
    Thanks ver much, Steve

    Here is how I got it working
    1. open the projects and make sure the Dependencies are checked for the other project
    2. open the JClient client project that contains the calling form
    3. select the databinding.cpx file and you see that one datacontrol is used
    4. To add the other datacontrol (the other BC project) select an attribute from it in the data control palette and drop it to the calling JClient panel.
    5. Delete the create item because all that we care for is to get the the second data control registered in the project's cpx file
    6. Open the databinding.cpx file of the second (the called JClient project) and copy everything between the <containee> elements into the clipboard. Note that you can have one or more of them
    For my example, the databinding.cpx content of the second JClient project contained the following binding reference
    <Containee
    id="FormUIModel"
    ObjectType="BindingContainerReference"
    FullName="mypackage3.FormUIModel" >
    </Containee>
    7. Open the databinding.cpx file of the calling project in a text editor and paste the content of the clipboard to it. Save the file.
    8. Add the following code to a button that calls the JClient form in the other project (in my example the called form has a name of "Form" and is in a packe mypackage3 that I imported
    Form frm = new Form();
    frm.setBindingContext(panelBinding.getBindingContext());
    frm.setVisible(true);
    The reason you have to do all this is because the binding context is passed from one form to the other, which means that its databinding.cpx file need to contain all the binding information.
    You could make your life a lot simpler if you don't use two model projects. But this is your design decision and i can only tell you how to get it working.

  • JDev10g and ADF/Struts input form errors

    I followed a demo for creating an input JSP form from Business Components. However, although I can create and run a report or read-only form without a problem, I cannot create and run an input form at all as I keep getting the following error:
    javax.servlet.jsp.JspException: No getter method for property FirstName of bean org.apache.struts.taglib.html.BEAN
         at org.apache.struts.util.RequestUtils.lookup(RequestUtils.java:968)
    Any ideas?

    Justin,
    This usually happen because the data binding called FirstName cannot be found in the binding container associated your JSP.
    The binding container associated with your page is most likely the name of your page with UIModel.xml.
    You can see the list of bindings available in the binding container by selecting the DataBinding.cpx file in the Navigator and look at the Struture Pane.
    The FirstName binding might not be thre of the wrong binding container may be associated with the page.

  • ADF Mobile Error handling and redirect

    I'm stuck on how to handle errors within my ADF Mobile application. My application consumes a number of web services and we have found we often get error messages when phone connections switch from wifi to 3g or lose connection altogether. These are errors such as SSL handshake failure, HTTP500 errors, and also errors where it can't display the binding eh "Unable to get value for the property due to invalid binding iterator" because a WS call has failed. From the little information I can find - and none of it specific to ADF Mobile, I think I need to write an error handler class which I set against ErrorHandlerClass in databinding.cpx - if that correct? Am I able to catch these errors using that method and if so has anyone got any examples at all. Ideally what I'd like to do when I've caught those errors is redirect to another page (showing something like facebooks app does when it loses a connection and says tap to try again), does anyone have any suggestions or examples?
    thanks

  • ADF: How to setup of a Batch Client project?

    Hi,
    I want to write a simple ADF application which uses no GUI. In the "New Gallery" wizard is no batch/commandline client type available. Is that kind of client not supported? Unusual for ADF applications?
    I selected a JClient Empty Form from the "New Gallery" which generated a DataBinding.cpx and some other files in my project. I created a new Java class (including a main() method) and copied some ADF startup code into the main method:
    String amClassname = "batchclient.model.AppModule";
    String configName = "AppModuleLocal";
    ApplicationModule am = Configuration.
    createRootApplicationModule(amClassname, configName);
    Starting the application, I got an error:
    oracle.jbo.JboException: JBO-33001: Cannot find the configuration file /batchclient/model/common/bc4j.xcfg in the classpath
    In the project editor, I appended the path to my model project classes to the classpath of my client project and the application runs fine. With JDev9i, a batch client was simpler to develop.
    Do I missed some documentation/samples which explains the development of batch clients or is there a simpler way to generate the batch client (project)?
    Thanks, Markus

    Thx S.
    Basically the program is used to create/delete/modify entries in a table and mantain the Address information.
    The buttons to show the pop-up where the information is maintained are in the ALV button bar and I can deal with them in my user command.
    I'm not looking for an alternative (for example a program to upload an excel and so one); I would like to know if it is possible to define something to identify which button has been pressed in a Batch Input.
    You will get the same issue trying to catch in a Batch Input actions on SE16N.
    Thanks

  • ADF Custom error handler not working.

    Hi All,
    i am using jdev version 11.1.1.5.0. i have created one custom error handler class in model layer which extend DcErrorHandlerImpl class.
    and do the entry in Databinding.cpx file
    *<Application ErrorHandlerClass="mypackage.classname"/>*
    i have override getDisplayMessage(BindingContext ctx, Exception ex) method to show SQL Exception which comes from database table trigger.
    code is following-
    package com.in.jagran.view.services;
        import java.sql.SQLException;
        import oracle.adf.model.BindingContext;
        import oracle.adf.model.binding.DCErrorHandlerImpl;
        import oracle.jbo.JboException;
        public class AclasErrorHandler extends DCErrorHandlerImpl {
          public AclasErrorHandler(boolean setToThrow) {
            super(setToThrow);
            System.out.println("Inside Error Handler class");
          public AclasErrorHandler() {
              super(true);
           // this(true);
           * Returns the message that will be reported to JSF for each error that occurs.
           * Returning "null" is the way the custom error handler signals that a given exception
           * should not be reported to the client.
          @Override
          public String getDisplayMessage(BindingContext ctx, Exception ex)
            if (ex instanceof oracle.jbo.ValidationException) {
              return super.getDisplayMessage(ctx, ex);
            else {
              // Extract and return the error message that has to be displayed
              Exception exception = ex;
              String message = "";
              // If this exception is an instance of JboException,
              // try to find the cause by recursing over the eventual causing exceptions
              if (exception instanceof JboException)
                Throwable[] exceptionList = ((JboException)exception).getExceptions();
                while (exception instanceof JboException
                        && exceptionList != null && exceptionList.length > 0)
                  exception = (Exception)exceptionList[0];
                  if (exception instanceof JboException) {
                    exceptionList = ((JboException)exception).getExceptions();
              // *** Special processing of SQLExceptions
              if (exception instanceof SQLException) {
                message = exception.getMessage();

                int ind = message.indexOf("ORA-06512");
                if (ind > 0)
                  message = message.substring(0, ind);
              // *** If the the reason for the JboException was data creation exception then display the message
              // of the top JboException (i.e. JBO-*****: Invalid numeric value, date format or time format)
              else if (exception instanceof NumberFormatException || exception instanceof IllegalArgumentException) {

                message = ex.getMessage();
              // Otherwise report the message of the lowest exception in the hierarchy
              else {
                message = exception.getMessage();
              return message;
        }but it is not working for me.
    thanks in Advance.

    yes i have used dubugger.
    i have set break point to following line-
    return super.getDisplayMessage(ctx, ex);
    if (ex instanceof oracle.jbo.ValidationException) {
            return super.getDisplayMessage(ctx, ex);
    }when atttribute validation done like i have attribute of type number and i have done the validation "must be greater than 0" now when i have given negative value control go to above line.
    and i have added following code also in handler class
            @Override
               public void reportException(DCBindingContainer dCBindingContainer,
                                           Exception exception) {
    System.out.println(exception.getMessage());
                       super.reportException(dCBindingContainer, exception);
                   }now when i have done commit operation control go to here and println statement print follwoing error on log window.
