Datasource Classification Data

Hi friends,
i have the following problem.
Previuosly I explain the situation.
I'm doing an COPA extraction to BW.
In R/3 I have 2 cliens (100, 500). The first one is allowed to customize but it doesn't contains data. The second contains data but it's not allowed to customize. It's the second one which is connected with BW.
The situation is the following. I've created a Datasource (1CL_O_MA001), in 100, to extract the characteristic AD_SIZE_ML. I define it ok but when I try to activate the Datasource it's not possible because the charateristic AD_SIZE_ML is not defined in 100.
So, I transport, by Tcode SCC1, to client 500. But when I try to activate the Datasource it's not possible becuase "Changes to repository or Cross-client customizing is not permitted".
I don't know what to do, because when I replicate the datasource in BW this one doesn't appear because it's not firstly activated in R/3.
Can anybody help me, please?

Hi,
Please go through the documentation using the following path:
sbiw -> Settings for application specific datasources -> Cross application components -> Classification system.
You can also check with you basis team and see whether the client needs to be opened ( transaction scc4 ).

Text Data source for Classification Data

Hi BW Gurus, Ajay Das and Kishore helped me very well on this, just last step doubt. In r/3 system I have added the char tYPE AND kyf TYPE CHARACTERISTICS to classification data now it has generated the Classification customer attribute data source 1CL_0CUSBMW01 and I see the text datasources generated afor char type characteristics in /NCTBW such as 1CL_AABMW01,1CL_AABMW03, etc.. now when i go back to BW
i see the customer attribute data source 1CL_0CUSBMW01 and also text datasources generated in datasource overview, but when i go infosource tab in rsa1 I WAS INTstructed to create the infopackage on 0customer for customer attribute data source 1CL_0CUSBMW01 AND load the data now I " Have a doubt I think I also have to create 4 more infopackages and specify the text datasources generated for the characteristic added in CTBW ex 1CL_AABMW01,1CL_AABMW03. to load the text for the characteristics. please clarify asap if it is required to create all these text infopacks to load the text datasource to respective infoobject or just customer attribute data source 1CL_0CUSBMW01 infopack will take careof every thing, beacuse my manager did not told me to create the text infopack so how will the text get loaded for the infoobject

1CL_0CUSBMW01 is the DS containing 0CUSTOMER and the two (or more) characteristics I assume. This has to be used to update 0CUSTOMER. You can either use the existing infosource, or, create a new one to do this. You will then need a new infopackage to run this.
Let us say one of the characteristics also has text, and you want to bring that to BW using generated DS 1CL_AABMW01. You will replicate it, and use it to update texts to infoobject XXXX (whatever this characteristic is, in BW). This will not be used to update 0CUSTOMER.
Let us say your class char was COLOR. Its values were 1,2,3,4,... and the associated text was Red, Green, Blue...
Now, based on the above, 0CUSTOMER will have an attribute COLOR which will have values in Attr table as 1,2,3,4...
The text table for characteristics COLOR will have values as
1--Red
2--Green
3--Blue.....
The text will NOT go to 0CUSTOMER if that is what you are asking.

What next...After Loading 'Material Classification' data in to BW from R/3

Hi all,
    We want to load the 'Material Classification' data in to BW from R/3.
    0MATERIAL_ATTR and 0MAT_PLANT_ATTR are the Basis DataSources and the following DataSources are created with Tcode CTBW:
    1CL_OMAT001, 1CL_OMAT002 & 1CL_AMFG002 (for Texts).
    Suppose the DataSources are Replicated, the InfoPackages are executed. What is the next step, please? Do we have to create any InfoCube after that ?

Hi,
First you have to create info objects to load the data into.
You then have to create infosource and assign the datasources to the infosources.
Once you have finished your replicates and made sure that all rules (transfer and update) are active you execute the info packages and load the data to the info objects.
After you finish with the data loading, you then run the attribute/hierarchy change run to activate the master data you loaded and then load your transaction data.

Load 'Material Classification' data in to BW from R/3

Hi all,
We want to load the 'Material Classification' data in to BW from R/3. There is no 'Classification' tab with Tcode 'MM03' in R/3. We have very little MM functionality on R/3 with just MARA table. I have to start from the scratch on R/3 side. We don't have any MM Functional consultant.
I read the 'Understand the R/3 Classification System and How to Extract Classification Data into BW' document from BWExpertOnline. It will help on creating the DataSource.
How can I do the Material Classification on R/3 side and what is the best way to proceed on it?
If any one has worked on this type of request, could you please pass any document or share their knowledge, PLEASE ?

Do you know what classification data you want to define/add in the R/3 system? I think it is not a technical exercise, more of a functional work where you first have to determine your classification requirements and configure the system accordingly. Do you know what classification you want to use (any examples of how you want a particular material to be classified)? If not, this is not going to work without functional help.
You can explore the config part in SPRO->Cross-application>Classification, and setup the data for classification from main R/3 menucross-application componentsclassification systemmaster data (characteristics, classes).

How to Extract R/3 Multiple Valued variant Classification Data in BI

Dear Gurus,
                    got stuck in a situation where I am in need of your help. My Client want to extract the R3 Classification Data(Variant, Batch) into BI. I will share till what point I had reached. Used Transaction Code CTBW, was Trying to create Datasource based on Basic datasource 2LIS_11_VAITM for transactional Data. when I was trying to add the new Characteristics (CVN_L_AVG_SH) using Class with type 300(Variant), Getting an error "Characteristic has Multiple Values". I do know that Characteristics (CVN_L_AVG_SH and a fewmore) is having Multiple values, how can I add the same so that I can create classification datasource. Tried SDN got a PDF " How to Extract R/3 Classification Data in BI by Affine" but didn't helped Much.

You cannot extract the multiple values using classification data sources, this data can be extracted by creating a generic extractor based on a view (with join on tables AUSP and INOB). this extractor brings the data in the following format.
OBJEK | ATINN | ATZHL | ATWRT
1 | HOBBY | 1 | CRICKET
1 | HOBBY | 2 | PAINTING
1 | HOBBY | 3 | READING
2 | HOBBY | 1 | CRICKET
2 | HOBBY | 2 | PAINTING

i.e. for field Hobby these are values assigned, if you want you can create 3 InfoObjects in BW and flatten this data by setting flags as below.

Extracting classification data

We would like to extract data that is maintianed in the Charactreistic value filed for a given class.
For example : For a given Class say 'ABC' we have a Characteristic as 'EFG' and the value is maintained as 'Y' or 'N' .
We would like to extract the 'Y' or 'N' into BI.
Explaining how to use the classification data sources in this scenario would be really helpful.
Require your help to suggest alternatives.

I'm not sure if I understood your suggestion:
With this option, Do I have to enhance Extract structure of 1CL_AEST001, to append the custom field, and to fill it with R/3 user-exit?. In this way, I still have assigned this Datasource to an InfoSource, I cannot assign it again.
Or Do you mean that I need to create a generic text Datasource for ZSTYLE_TEXT and fill it with the same Abap code that uses the generated Datasource 1CL_AEST001?.

Classification data extraction questions

Hai All,
I have few questions regarding the classification data extraction from R/3 to BW.
Does anybody know if I can do the following(classification data sources in CTBW):
1. Extraction of Characters that permit multiple value valuations
2. Extraction of characters intended for intervals
3. I know that only FULL update is supported for classification data as of BW 2x. Does anybody know if deltas are supported in any of the new versions upto BI 7.0?
I appreciate if any body can answer these questions or refer to documentation or SAP notes.

The selection after the key field during the extraction of the classification data from the class type that permits several objects (MULTOBJ = .X in table TCLA) does not work. The selection only works in such a case if an object number (CUOBJ from table INOB) is entered as a selection criterion.

Extracting classification data in BW

Hi experts,
We are extracting data from R/3 classification system into BW for 0MATERIAL.
We have followed the steps in R/3 for generate DataSources through the transaction SBIW. Then in BW, we have replicated the DataSources, created de InfoObjects for the new attributes and assign these InfoObjects to 0MATERIAL, but we do not which are the following steps to extract the data.
Could anybody tell us the next steps for extracting classification data??

For your 1CL_***** datasource the basic datasource should be 0MATERIAL_ATTR. If so when you replicate the DS to BW and do CTBW_META the datasource will be assigned automatically to 0MATERIAL.
Go to the 0MATERIAL Datasource and in the dropdown it will be 0MATERIAL_ATTR and then 0MATERIAL_TXT and the third one will be the 1CL_****.
Choose that and then propose the transfer rule. This DS will provide value for the classification characteristics for the attribute you defined.

Extractor to get Classification data from R3 (specifically AUSP table)

I have a requirement to get classification data from R3 to BW.
I have explored the following post
Classification data extraction
which discusses steps to get the datsource created using transaction CTBW
However this approaches requires us to specifiy the *fixed list of characteristics required.
So when new characteristic are added we would again have to regenerate the datasource and update the data flow in BI.
We need to get the entire classification data to BI. In our case it is possible to get new characteristics added in R/3 periodically and which would need to come to BI seamlessly.
Did anyone have a similar requirement in the past ? Are there any BADI, BTEs I could use?

Hi Saif,
datasources created with CTBW do extract one row for each classified object. Therefore CTBW generates an extract structure based on the set of characteristics which have been specified there. For extracting additional characteristics you will need to add them in CTBW and to generate the datasource again. There is no way to overcome this. So datasources created with CTBW cannot fulfill your demand.
You will have to create your own datasource from scratch. This datasource will need to return one row for each found value to be flexible enough and to be able to work with one extract structure that doesn't need to be changed.
In general the way how classifications are stored is quite complex and depends on settings in customizing of classification. So I would recommend to create a datasource based on your own function module. This could call BAPI_OBJCL_GETOBJECTS to find the classified objects and BAPI_OBJCL_GETDETAIL to read the valuations. For more information see please documentation of these BAPIs. Additional information on BAPI_OBJCL_GETDETAIL you will find in SAP note 1083983.

Classification Data

Im having issues with the classification CL24N tcode.
When i run the debugger i check the program and found out on save data they program recalls the tcode again thus resetting all the classification data to initial. Im having problem trying to achieve the same thing but without having to call the tcode again. Currently im able to update classification data upon saving and then my screen will become uneditable and should display the latest classification data.
anyone know the solution to this problem?

You need to create datasources in CTBW tcode.
How to handle with it you may see in the short documentation for the t-code in R/3:
SPRO->Settings for Application-Specific DataSources->Cross-Application Components-->Maintain DataSources for Classification Data (CTBW)
Also look at OSS Note #306046 - "Characters of classifctn - attributes in BW" with step-by-step guide.
To create the infosource (and infoobjects for the classification DS) on BW, run CTBW_META t-code and provide your source system and datasource info. This will generate the infoobjects and infosources for you.

For creating classification data, have a look at the function group CTMS and function module CTMS_DDB_SET_VALUE_INTERNAL.
Not sure what you mean by "Routing".
For BAPIs also look into the function group CLBPA, that sits in the same development package CLCL as the function group CTMS.

BP - default and check classification data at CREATE/SAVE using BDT + BADI

I do have several requirements around Business Partners and BDT.
1. When a BP is created, I want to default certain fields depending on what BP role is maintained, specifically I am looking at fields on the classification tab (BDT application CRMD).
--> I do not want to use transaction variants.
--> I want to use the BDT or implement a BADI (which I dont think does exist)
2. When a BP is saved, I want to check whether certain fields have certain values depending on the BP role.
--> Field selection is not sufficient.
--> I tried using the BDT calling own function modules at different events without success. When I call function module CRM_BUPA_FRG0040_GET_DETAIL to get current classification data at DCHCK, structure ls_frg0040 is not updated yet.
At a later event I can not stop the save.
Is there a way to force an update of memory, so that function module CRM_BUPA_FRG0040_GET_DETAIL returns current values.
--> I also tried BADI BUPA_FURTHER_CHECKS, but it is not called at all.
Any help is highly appreciated.

From the BADI stand-point (and assuming dialog usage).
1/ You have:

You should even be able to set a particular tab to which you want to navigate and then fill in the relevant fields, prior to having the screen completely painted.
