Date format for oracle lite client database

hello....
When data is entered opened on the oracle lite webtogo OC4J client is giving the following errors:
JBO-25009: Cannot create an object of type:java.sql.Date with value:2/21/08 12:00 AM
JBO-27014: Attribute CreationDate in AppModule.ApplicantIncomesView1 is required
JBO-27024: Failed to validate a row with key oracle.jbo.Key[85685 ] of type AppModule.ApplicantIncomesView1
Which date format is supported on the OC4J client? The application has been developed using Jdeveloper JSF/ADF BC technology.

  • Administer defrag remotely for Oracle lite client database?

    Hi all,
My client has installed Oracle Lite version 10.3.0.3. Oracle Lite Database file (ODB) tends to grow too large. Oracle recommends resizing the Oracle Lite database by running Defrag.exe tool. But it has to be installed manually on each handheld device. Does anyone know how to administer Defrag.exe remotely from Oracle Lite Server or can it be done in another way?
    Thanks.

  • XE for Oracle Lite

Is it possible use Oracle XE as back-end Oracle database for Oracle Lite clients?
    And how about java support?

Technically it would depend on what dependencies the sync server that Oracle Lite uses. I believe that it has java dependencies, so probably not. I will check with the Oracle Lite developers.
From a license point of view, we will have to decide. Given that we don't see XE as suitable for a master in a replication environment, I doubt that we will see it as suitable for the equivalent functionality in an Oracle Lite environment

  • Difference between Data Providers for Oracle

    Hello,
There are 3 .NET Data Providers for access an Oracle Database:
    1) ODP.NET, who uses Oracle API to access an Oracle Database.
    2) Microsoft .NET Data Provider for Oracle, who comes in the Assemblie System.Data.OracleClient
    3) Microsoft .NET Data Provider for OLE DB.
    My questions are:
    1) There is another Data Provider to access an Oracle DB ?
    2) Which is better, for example to handle LOB fields ?
    3) Which is better in performance ?
    4) ODP.NET uses some Oracle API to handle a DB, and the others ?
    5) What is the requirement (Oracle Client, OS) of each of them ?
    Best Regards
    Alfredo DS

I would recommend using ODP.NET. Overall, I've seen better performance from it than other Oracle providers. It requires the 9.2 client and any OS that the 9.2 client supports.
With respect to LOBs, the first ODP.NET version was consistently faster retrieving LOBs than other Oracle providers. The latest version of ODP.NET (and the upcoming version) have made some substantial improvements in LOB performance on top of that.

  • Date formats for SQL statements used by recordset object

    Hi,
Date formatting appears to be quite problematic for Business One.  I did a forum search for date issues and I don't think I saw any of them with an "answered" status.  I have an issue with formatting a date for the creation of an SQL statement that the DI sends to SQL Server 2005.  I need to format a date so that the localization parameters don't matter for either the client machine or SQL Server's machine.  We don't have a problem as long as our machines are localized as USA.
I have PL 22 and I have a form - ours - where I use the Today() function to fill a date field.  So this is a date that is not entered by the user.  The result of this function is consistent with the localization parameters on my machine.  We have two other date fields on the form where the user must type in the date.
As a test, I changed my machine to the UK parameters.  I then set up the language parameters of Business One for English(United Kingdom).  I changed the date format specifications in Business One so that its format is dd/mm/yy.  I then brought up the form and the field that is formatted by the above function arrived in the form's field as dd/mm/yy.  I then typed in the two other dates in the same format and added the record to the database.  The form's table is user-defined.
I dismissed the form then brought it back up loaded with the new record.  The date that was entered by the function appeared in USA format (mm/dd/yy).  The dates that were typed in appeared in the Business One format (dd/mm/yy).  This of course is not consistent.
When I looked at what got into the database, the formats were the opposite.  Weird!  To make matters really confusing, I run an SQL statement within SQL Server Mgt Studio, and use the WHERE clause to filter on the date that was based on the function.  It didn’t matter what format I used for the WHERE clause, the record came up.  Does anyone have any idea about how I can ensure that I always use the correct date format for SQL statements passed by Business One to SQL Server regardless of where in the world the application is being run?
    Thanks,
    Mike

    Ian,
Here's what I'm concerned about:  I’m using the date in a “WHERE” clause.
Assume the date is Aug 3, 2007.
"SELECT * FROM Table WHERE StartDate > ‘8/3/2007’"
    OR
"SELECT * FROM Table WHERE StartDate > ‘3/8/2007’"
If the client machine is set up as USA, the today function will provide the date as formatted in the first query.  If the database server is setup as let’s say the UK, I believe that SQL Server query parser will interpret the date as Mar 8, 2007.
If the client machine is set up as UK, the today function will provide the date as formatted in the second query.  If the database server is setup as let’s say USA, I believe that SQL Server query parser will also interpret the date as Mar 8, 2007.
In both cases it would be wrong.
I know I could use the DATEPART function to get the three parts and this will make the code indifferent to the localization specs of the client machine.  I need to then be able to concatenate those date parts for the “WHERE” clause so that the localization specifications of the database server don’t matter.
    Thanks,
    Mike

  • Date Formats in Oracle Applications Forms and Oracle Self Service

Can someone tell me what determines the Date format that appears on Oracle Applications Forms and Oracle Self Service ?
*1.* In Oracle HRMS,all dates i see on the Forms are of the Format "MM/DD/YYYY" but my NLS Parameters are not in this format .I'm giving the results for the NLS parameters below.I thought the date formats are determined by the NLS format. Is there something else that determines the date format appearing on Oracle Applications Forms ?
    NLS_DATABASE_PARAMETERS
    NLS_DATE_FORMAT     :DD-MON-RR
    NLS_DATE_LANGUAGE     :AMERICAN
    NLS_LANGUAGE     :AMERICAN
    NLS_TERRITORY     :AMERICA
    NLS_INSTANCE_PARAMETERS
    NLS_DATE_FORMAT     :DD-MON-RR
    NLS_DATE_LANGUAGE     :
    NLS_LANGUAGE     :american
    NLS_TERRITORY     :america
    NLS_SESSION_PARAMETERS
    NLS_DATE_FORMAT     :DD-MON-RR
    NLS_DATE_LANGUAGE     :
    NLS_LANGUAGE     :american
    NLS_TERRITORY     :america
*2* What about the profile option : ICX_DATE_FORMAT_MASK ? Does it determine the Date Format for Self Service alone or does it impact the date format appearing on Oracle Applications Forms and the actual database also ?
*3* If I use a to_date function in ,say, a pl/sql function that i code for some custom requirements, what will be the output of the date format ? Does it take the format given in NLS paramaters or is it determined by anything else?
    Thanks in advance...

    Hi,
Thanks for your reply ,but I'm still confused ..
Here are the profile options I'm seeing for one of my instance :
ICX: Date format mask - 12/31/1999
ICX: Date language - American English
    ICX: Language - American English
    ICX: NLS Sort - BINARY
    ICX: Territory - United States
    ICX: Numeric characters - NULL
NLS parameters are given in my original email.
In Self Service applications(OAF) ,the date format is appearing in "mm/dd/yyyy" format but when i login to Forms based applications ,I see the date format as "dd-mon-yyyy".What determines this date format ?
How can i make the date format to always return one format everywhere ,be it Self Service (OAF) or Oracle Forms ?
I'm getting date format related errors for my code because of default date formats changing intermittently when i log into Self Service.I want to know if there is anyway to prevent this from happening?
    Thanks in advance.

  • Type initializer for 'Oracle.DataAccess.Client.CThreadPool' threw an excep.

    Hi all,
I have a .NET application which save data in an oracle database (about 2000 database read / write each day).
Every thing works fine since few years...
However, yesterday, one of my client got this error :
System.Runtime.InteropServices.SEHException: External component has thrown an exception.
    at Oracle.DataAccess.Client.CThreadPool..cctor()
The type initializer for 'Oracle.DataAccess.Client.CThreadPool' threw an exception.
    at Oracle.DataAccess.Client.CThreadPool.SetMaxThreads(UInt32 MaxWorkerThreads, UInt32 MaxIOCompletionThreads)
    at Oracle.DataAccess.Client.OracleCommand.set_CommandTimeout(Int32 value)
    Any ideas ?
    Regards.

    Hi,
thanks for the answer. Yes the Inner exception returns "The provider is not compatible with the version of Oracle client".
Could it be the Oracle Client Version? I just noticed that on that machine there is the Oracle Client version 11.1.

  • OIM 9.1.0.2 - Weblogic JDBC Multi Data Sources for Oracle RAC

Does OIM OIM 9.1.0.2 BP07 support Weblogic JDBC Multi Data Sources (Services>JDBC>Multi Data Sources) for Oracle RAC instead of inserting the "Oracle RAC JDBC URL" on JDBC Data Sources for xlDS and xlXADS (Services>JDBC>Data Sources> xlDS|xlXADS > Connection Poll> URL) ?
If yes, is there are any other modifications that need to be made on OIM, or just changing the data sources?

Yes, it's supported. You install against one instance directly of the Rac Server. Then you update the config.xml file and the jdbc resource in your weblogic server with the full rac address. It is documented for installation against RAC. http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E14049_01/doc.9101/e14047/database.htm#insertedID2

  • Configuring date format in Oracle 8.1.7

I have just unloaded records from tables into an sql script file with insert statements. However, the date format for the records that I have unloaded is MM/DD/YYYY. When I try to run this sql script, oracle gives an error, saying it's not a valid month.
Oracle date format is DD-MMM-YY. How can I change the date format in oracle, so that I could insert these records in?

If your script does not have explicit TO_DATE conversions (which it should, by the way), like:
insert into t values (to_date('11/21/2002', 'mm/dd/yyyy'));then you can set the default date format to match the format in your script. So, if your script looks like:
    insert into t values ('11/21/2002');then:
alter session set nls_date_format = 'mm/dd/yyyy';prior to running the script.

  • How to change date format for prentation variable

    Hi experts
In my prompt the date format is MM/DD/YYYY . I have created one presentation variable for that but i want to use this in Formula as well in Title as: DD-MON-YY
So how can i achieve it..
    Thanks in advance
    Regards
    Frnds

    Hi
i think this can't be done through any code like oracle uses to_char, to_date function.
    Just follow this
    http://oraclebizint.wordpress.com/2007/12/19/oracle-bi-ee-101332-dates-dates-and-dates/
With this, wherever you have this column, you will be getting this format dates..
if you don't want in reports you can change it by mentioning the data format for that paricular column in report, but for the same column, if you want different format at different places (for prompts), you can't do that..

  • Setting date format for the entire SQL Server installation - SQL Server 2008 R2-2012

    Hi,
I need to safeguard the behaviour of SQL codes that inserting into SQL tables with some date columns. For this purpose, I need to change the date format for the SQL instance and not using CONVERT and CAST.

The language setting is related to the database user.
    BOL: "DEFAULT_LANGUAGE = { NONE | <lcid> | <language name> | <language alias> }
Specifies the default language for the new user. If a default language is specified for the user and the default language of the database is later changed, the users default language remains as specified.
If no default language is specified, the default language for the user will be the default language of the database. If the default language for the user is not specified and the default language of the database is later changed, the default
language of the user will change to the new default language for the database."
    LINK: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms173463.aspx
The default language setting can be overridden by SET LANGUAGE for the session:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms174398.aspx
    Example:
    SET LANGUAGE us_english; -- mdy
    SELECT CAST ('12/13/2014' as DATE); -- 2014-12-13
    GO
    SET LANGUAGE british; -- dmy
    SELECT CAST ('12/13/2014' as DATE);
    GO
    (1 row(s) affected)
    Changed language setting to British.
    Msg 241, Level 16, State 1, Line 2
Conversion failed when converting date and/or time from character string.

  • Migrating System.Data.OracleClient to Oracle.DataAccess.Client - XSD error

Hi, I'm a newbie using Oracle ODP.NET provider for .NET.
We have a web application that uses XSD to connect to Oracle using the provider System.Data.OracleClient.
We want to migrate from System.Data.OracleClient to Oracle.DataAccess.Client.
Installing and referencing the Oracle.DataAccess.dll all works fine.
Then I changed all the references from System.Data.OracleClient to Oracle.DataAccess.Client and removed the System.Data.OracleClient.dll assembly from the web.config file.
All compiles well, until I run the application, looks like the problem is the parameter use in the XSD file... the error I get is:

Many thanks in advance for any help!

MS OracleClient binds parameters by name. ODP.NET binds by position. If you want to change ODP.NET's default parameter binding behavior, set:
    OracleCommand.BindByName = true;
Do this for every OracleCommand that binds parameters.

    Hi,
As per my experience, Type initializer exception by ODP coulod also be due to mismatch between ODP.Net and dependant layers, especially with the service layer, which communicates with the OCI.
    So, please do following:
    - As suggested earlier, if not installed and then do install the ODP ship home on the target test machine.
    - If already installed, ensure that versions do match, essentially you cannot pick a different ODP dll and try to make it work with a different version of ship home dlls.
    thanks,
    Mrinal
