Date format in Apple Mail

Ladies and Gentlemen:
Is there a way to use international date formats in Apple Mail.app with the AppleStationeryDynamicElement?
Example: < span class="AppleStationeryDynamicElement" contenteditable="true" apple-content-type="date" *apple-date-format="%b %1d, %Y"*>xxxxx<\span >
In my case it always displays the English Format "October 22, 2010" instead of the German format although in the language settings everything seems O.K. .
Thank you very much!
Kind regards
Dieter Zakel MD MA

As I said, I'm not that knowledgeable, but I can read - it seems to me all the examples given assume the English language (month first), so have you tried:
%1d/%1m/%Y
I am asking because you said:
+I have in my mail template the string "apple-content-type="date" apple-date-format= *"%b %1d, %Y"".*+
From what I just looked at, "b" or "m" is the month, so if that is what you have entered, it'll show "March 2, 2010"; however - at least in Germany - the date is displayed as 2. März 2010 (I know the Viennese have their own way of doing things, but..
The other thing that puzzled me is the fact that it says "allowNaturalLanguage: No" - again, I have no idea, but logic would dictate that yes, of course, you want the natural language which, in this case, would be German. Just a thought on this one.

  • ICloud date format - especially in Mail

Since moving over to iCloud the date format in my Mail (and presumably anywhere else in iCloud) has changed from day/month/year to month/day/year.  My System Preferences are in the format I want but this doesn't seem to have any affect on the iCloud preferences.  Does anyone know how I can change the date format or will Apple fix this in an update? Thanks,

This does not solve the problem. Much like date format settings on Mac do not change the date format on the menu bar of a mac, where it matters most. The date format settings in icloud calendar do not change the date format. Anyone have a solution?

how do i change the date format in mac mail?

I just had this problem and I already was using "classic layout".
I went back to mac mail and at the top, it says, MAIL, FILE, EDIT, VIEW (etc). In VIEW, in the drop down, one of the options is ORGANIZE BY CONVERSATION ..I saw that mine was CHECKED.
I unchecked it and now all the emails are fine again, showing one by one, as opposed to all my emails from one client getting lumped together.

If I change via the command and + key the style format in an email, these settings will be deleted when making a new email. How can I make changes in a style in an email permanently?

Have you gone to Mail preferences and investigated the 'Viewing' and 'Composing' tabs?

    Thanks!

    Steve,
I think that you may have the "wrong" choice in the Systems Preferences/International preference pane. If this is set to "United Kingdom" then Mail will generate iCal events with the correct date.
However, if (like me) you customise this in any way, OS X creates a "Custom" profile. This is no longer recognised by Mail as using UK date formats and the program then seems to default to choosing US dates. So, if you are willing to lose your customisation and switch back to the standard "United Kingdom" choices this should work.
It is just a shame that you can't have a UK date format, and some customisation of (for instance) the date/time display.

  • How do I restore an Apple Mail account to a previous date?

I have three accounts in Apple Mail: my Exchange server account, and two IMAP accounts. I need to restore ONLY the Exchange server mailbox to where it was on April 1st and can't do so the normal way of having the Exchange mail stores restored.
Is there anything in Time Machine back on April 1st that will either let me restore this account to that date, or at least act as an archive of the folders and their content that was in this account on that date?
I see the folders names I need (corresponding to my Mail tree structure) under home/library/mail/exchange/ but when I open any of the folders they each have one .plist file in them...that's it...no messages.
Thanks in advance for any help.
    LarryMcJ

you still should be able to do it just like I said. When mail is active, start TM and go back to the time point where all those folders were still present. Highlight them and click restore.
That's how TM is intended to work in Mail. really!
If you don't believe me and are determined to do it in Finder you can do that too.
Quit Mail and go to the folder homedirectory/Library/Mail
select the folder for the mail account that used to contain all those folders.
Start TM and go back to the time when those folders were there. restore them.
Finally, move the file Envelope Index from homedirectory/Library/Mail to desktop and start Mail. Mail will say that it needs to import your data. say yes. It will reindex everything and you'll be back to where you want to be.

The genius bar technicians can check your MBP for possible hardware problems and specific software issues that you may have.  The diagnosis will be free.  Any extensive repairs will not be free.
If you have minor software problems, you essentially will have to deal with them yourself.  Examine these two comprehensive documents for possible problem definition and solutions.  If you encounter problems that you are unable to cope with, start a new discussion and there will be persons willing to assist you in solving them.

Mail: do not have the same account loaded onto the two devices.
Photos: go into Settings->Photos & Camera->and turn off photo stream.
everything else, sign out of the Apple ID on the device you dont want to be visible.

The .plist files are almost always preferences. I believe "plist" is short for "property list". It contains a list of keys (configuration options) and settings for each key, similar in some respects to the way the Windows Registry works, except that there is a separate file for each set of settings, instead of a single registry file as in Windows. In this case it's a shared settings file for Mail, but I couldn't tell you anything more about the contents.
You were smart to back it up. Usually .plist files can be deleted without signicant loss, because they will be recreated automatically with default settings. But sometimes they contain important settings that may be hard to set up again, especially if you had help setting up your computer in the first place, or have lost important details that you'd need for setting up an app, such as Mail. But sometimes the settings are trivial, for example the position and size of windows, etc., and do not contain settings you'd care about, which may be in another .plist file or in some other kind of file/database.

  • How can I copy-paste text from Firefox to Apple Mail preserving all formatting? It works with Safari but not with Firefox, otherwise I'd pick Firefox

I have a very big list of correspondents to whom I often send articles.
I cannot copy them from Firefox and paste them onto Apple Mail because they look WEIRD and not at all like the original. Most formatting disappears.
I do not encounter the same problem with Safari, and THAT is one of the two reasons I am forced to use it even if it gives me lots of problems.
The other one is that Safari 5 has a built-in RSS reader, which is essential for my work.
If you could manage to have those two things working, I'd pick Firefox in a second and advertise the fact to thousands who would do the same.

Try one of these feed readers if the build-in Firefox reader doesn't suit you.
