Date Format in Safari's SQLite feed Database?
Hi,
I am working on newsfeed visualizations and would like to use Safari's database. However, I run into problems parsing the dates.
Has anyone figured out the date format in Safari's feed database (located at ~/Library/Syndication/Database3)? It's just large integers, and does not seem to be a standard date or timestamp format. Any hints/clues?
Would be fantastic!
Mac OS X (10.4.7)
I have recently upgraded my DB to 11.2.0.1 and APEX to 4.0.1 then patched APEX to 4.0.2.00.07. With the upgrades, just like numerous other people, the date format is showing as mm/dd/yyyy in sql workshop tables and sql workshop window for my schema. The applications all still work fine with the previous and preferred date format of dd-mon-rr but trying to test code or export data from sql workshop gives errors when using my old code as my date format is dd-mon-rr.
Running the following select statement results in different date formats: select * from V$NLS_PARAMETERS
...when run in SQL Developer as user RSC result:
NLS_DATE_FORMAT DD-MON-RR
...when run in APEX SQL Workshop as user RSC result:
NLS_DATE_FORMAT mm/dd/yyyy
Telling me this is an APEX issue not a DB issue.
I have searched this forum as well as every other post about this and cannot find anything that solves this issue. If anyone has any ideas how to resolve this issue I would greatly appreciate it as it is terribly disrupting to the APEX work.

URGENT !!!! Problem with Date format MM/DD/YYYY in oracle database to BW
Hi
I am wondering if somebody can help me urgently.
I have oracle database where date is of the format MM/DD/YYYY and I am loading data into BW. DATE data type
Date in oracle database: 3/30/2007
First when I used InfoObject ZDATE (with 0DATE) reference (DATS data type) data load failed saying that
'Value '30-MAR-0 ' of characteristic 0DATE is not a number with 000008 spaces'
Then I created ZDATE InfoObject as CHAR Type (Length 10) with PDATE Conversion Routine.
when I created datasource using DB Connect and checked the contents using 'Display Table Contents' after creating data source the data field distorted as
AR/-0/30-M
After data load. when I checked PSA
The Date records look same as AR/-0/30-M
In cube the field appeared as 30-MAR-0 (last digit of year disappearing)
In BEx report also it looks like 'AR/-0/30-M'
Can somebody help me as quickly as possible.
What should I do if i want to still use DATS data type for ZDATE?
should I change date format in database if so to what?
If I should use CHAR type with PDATE or any other routine can somebody give me the routine to have the date in the report exactly as it appears in database?
I also tried changing date format in user profile...settings. But still its the same.
Thanks in advance.Hello Snrella,
You can solve this by converting the date format from oracle to the SAP internal date format using an ABAP routine in the transfer rules.
Assuming the oracle data field name is ZODATE then here's the ABAP you can use in the transfer rules. Create an ABAP routine transfer rule from ZODATE to your ZDATE infoobject, and then put this ABAP code there. (this code assumes that the format of the date from oracle is MM/DD/YYYY).
concatenate tran_structure-/BIC/ZODATE+6(4) tran_structure-/BIC/ZODATE(2) tran_structure-/BIC/ZODATE+3(2) into result.
Hope this helps. -
Uk date format issue with ASP and Access Database
I have an Asp form which updates records in an Access
database. Problem is
that the date format in the database record is dd/mm/yyyy
(UK), when
the record is displayed on the form it is mm/dd/yyyy(US)
which after I
update the record in the database the date has changed to the
new format.
I have tried everything I can to change the format but to no
avail...anyone any ideas how I can resolve this issue?
Thanks

Its not Dreamweaver, or Access, its your servers locale, its
set to US
format, not the UK.
On your page at the top use:
<% Session.LCID = 2057 %>
This will force the page into using UK formatted dates. Use
it on any
page that needs to format the page correctly.

How do I change the date format in safari?
I am in the UK, and the date format is the US format (ie month first) - I have changed my language in the Settings app, but no dice. In Chrome, Firefox etc there are language settings that I can change to alter the date format, but not for Safari ...
Hugh_Jarse_69 wrote:
I needed to drag British English to the top of the list of languages
It's great that worked for you, but you should be able to have any primary language you want combined with any date format you want by just setting the latter in system prefs/language & region/region. Did Safari not do the right thing with the Region set to United Kingdom? -
Hi,
I am building a data model using a SQL query in BI Publisher, the date format of the column in the database is DD-MON-YYYY. When I use this format in BI Publisher the query returns no results:
where trim(w.date_added) = '19-MAY-2010'
I have tried using trim(to_date(w.date_added, 'YYYY-MM-DD')) = '19-MAY-2010'
This also returns no results, however when running against the database I do see resullts.
Can anyone help?
Thanks
Edited by: sliderrules on 16-Sep-2010 02:22Hi,
If I run the query in the database using date format 'DD-MON-YYYY', I do get results. The problem lies within BI Publisher query, I have tried using java date format:
trim(to_date(w.date_added, 'MM-dd-yyyy')) = '05-19-2010'
This also returns no results, the actual date format in the table appears as '19-MAY-2010' -
Wrong Date format in SQL Server
Hello All,
I have an asp page with a hidden field that holds
<%=Date()%>. Because the
Session.LCID is set to UK this value today would be
12/03/2007 (UK format).
When this hidden field is fed into an INSERT Stored Procedure
in SQL Server
in my testing environment, the date format that is inserted
into the
database is the same as the value in the hidden field eg
12/03/2007, which
is what I want.
Now though, the site has moved to a production web server
with SQL Server.
When I perform this exact insert using the same webpages and
(from what I
can see) the same SQL Server configuration, the date inserts
as 03/12/2007,
US format. This is causing me big problems as the website is
complete but
the wrong dateformat is producing some undesirable results.
The whole site
is set up to expect the original format and I cannot see why
this is
happening.
Does anyone have any suggestions and more importantly how I
can change this
please. There is a real issue here and it has nothing to do with the
way that data
is formatted on the way out.
msSQL does seem to always assume that numbers entered in the
format of
00/00/00 follow the pattern of MM/DD/YY which is American
format. So the 8th
of March entered in UK format of 08/03/2007 ends up being
intrepreted by SQL
as 3rd August. However it only does this up to the 12th of
each month. If
you enter the 13th of March as 13/03/2007 SQL stores it
correctly.
The workaround does seem to enter the number in the
YYYY-MM-DD format as
Julian has suggested.

Dear all,
I am doing select and Insert statement from source database is 9i and target database is 10g using db_link.
Once done I check Birth_dt (date) column values
In source it appears 03/05/1922 and In my database it shows up as 03/05/2020 for some reason.
I am not sure why this is happening.
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks in advance

(THIS SKIPS 100 YEARS FOR SOME REASON)
Do I have to add century cc or scc to the date format ..?
my source database is oracle 9i and target database is 10 g R2
Any help is appreciated. It looks like the DOB column in your source table is a character data type and not a DATE data type.
If that is the case, you are relying on implicit conversion of DOB column values to DATE, which will
use the default NLS_DATE_FORMAT to convert the data.
In order to eliminate any ambiguity, you should explcitly convert the DOB column to date using TO_DATE
function and a date format. -

//replace embedded newlines with spaces
value = value.Replace(Environment.NewLine, " ");
swOut.Write(value); This forum is for Microsoft products, they have already and endless quantity of databases, many even freeware.
Try therefore for your question the forums for SQLite.
SQLite has very special own way of datatypes.

Date format issue in oracle database
Hi,
Back end : Oracle 11.2.0.2.0
Front end : Forms 11g
In our application we are facing issue with TO_DATE('DD/MM/YYY') Date format conversion.
Example: TO_DATE(P_date,'DD/MM/YYYY') giving the result as 20-Dec-0009
In the above eg the Parameter P_date is coming as '20-dec-09' from the front end (forms 11g)
The Nls_date_format parameter at database level is set as 'DD-MON-RR'
Its working fine after changing the conversion as TO_DATE(P_date,'DD/MM/RRRR') .- If we do like this , we need to change in many places , so instead of doing this, is there other solution wrt database settings/Application settings where we can change and fix this issue
pls help us to solve the issue.

sathish kWell the solution is right in front of you. As you say, your database environment is set to DD-MON-RR so your database is set to use 2 digit years (something most people moved away from with the millenium bug more than 10 years ago now). You can either change all your code to use RRRR as you've found, or change your database NLS setting to DD-MON-RRRR and change your front end application to pass you a date with 4 digit years so you get e.g. '20-dec-2009'.
So many people worked hard to resolve the millenium bug issues all those years ago, but still we have people, all these years later, who want to reintroduce the problem. So sad. -
As I opened the places.sqlite with an sqlite-editor I found out that firefox saves the last_visit_date via a timestamp which is 16 digits long. I realized that the first 10 digits are similar to the corresponding unix-timestamp but not equal. So.. how can i convert the firefox-timestamp into a normal date? Or into the corresponding unix-timestamp?
Write a bash script or 'C' program to change the date format and then use the sql update function to receive the stdio output 'where date_field='embeded date value'.

Date format in different databases like DB2, MS SQL, Oracle etc.
Hi,
Is there any standard date format, which works on any database like DB2, MS SQL Server, or Oracle 8i.
Right now I am using specific format for each database.
I am using the following syntax to retrieve the records on Jun 14, 2001.
MS SQL Server:
select * from tablename where
CONVERT(character(10),ReceiptDateTime, 120) >='2001-06-14'
and CONVERT(character(10), ReceiptDateTime , 120) <'2001-06-15'
Oracle:
select * from tablename where
TO_CHAR(ReceiptDateTime,'YYYY-MM-DD') >= '2001-06-14'
AND TO_CHAR(ReceiptDateTime,'YYYY-MM-DD') < '2001-06-15'
Is there any way we can generalize the date formt?
Any help appreciated.
Thanks,
NaiduHi,
Perhaps any difference when you compare the outcomes of
SQL> select * from nls_database_parameters;
SQL> select * from nls_session_parameters;on both databases? -
