Date Format weird

Hi Oracle Experts,
I have a table whith a column in the TimeStamp format, when i select from it using the to_date(created,'dd-mm-yyyy') I get data as
01-12-0004?? why not 01-12-2004 as the date should be ?

When the date was orignally saved to the database I guess you used a 2-digit year mask, either explicitly or implicitly.

  • SSRS is weird with date format

    hello everyone,
    I've got the weirdest problem.
At first it was the calendar in internet exporer showing the dutch format (which i want). After choosing the date i try to view the report. It wil tell me the date isnt in the right format.  So for example. 22-02-2015 is wrong and should be 02-22-2015.
For the normal user this is annoying enough and i dont understand why the datepicker acts different than the report wants.
But now even stanger. I wanted to put a default date in my variable so i can test a bit easier. So i fill in 31-12-2015 and its accepted. But when i run the report, it tells me that the format is wrong. Soooooo. I changed the default value to 12-31-2015
(the english format)..... BUT!!! now the variable default value isnt accepted because its not in the right format.
Can someone please tell me how i can avoid format changes between browsers/platforms/computers or what so ever.
there is 1 format i want and nothing else. dd-MM-yyyy thats the way and nothing else.

    Hi Fibre1980,
As per my understanding, when you preview the report, you hope that the date is displayed in the format dd-MM-yyyy in calendar, right?
In Reporting Services, the format of date in calendar control depends on your client machines language and regional settings. If you want to display date in the format dd-MM-yyyy, you can get parameter values from a query, so that values get populated in a
dropdown list and displayed in your required format.

  • Problem with date format from Oracle DB

    Hi,
I am facing a problem with date fields from Oracle DB sources. The date format of the field in DB table is 'Date base type is DATE and DDIC type is DATS'.
I mapped the date fields to Date characters in BI. Now the data that comes to PSA is in weird format. It shows like -0.PR.09-A
I have changing the field settings in DataSource  to internal and external and also i have tried mapping these date fields to text fields with out luck. All delivers the same format.
I have also tried using conversion routines like, CONVERSION_EXIT_IDATE_INPUT to change format. It also delivers me the same old result.
If anybody of you have any suggestions or if anybody have you experienced such probelms, Please share your experience with me.
    Thanks in advance.

Thanks for all your reply. I can only the solutions creating view in database. I want some solution to be done in BI. I appreciate if some of you have idea in it.
    The issue again in detail
I am facing an issue with date fields from oracle data. The data that is sent from Oracle is in the format is -0.AR.04-M. I am able to convert this date in BI with conversion routine in BI into format 04-MAR-0.
The problem is,  I am getting data of length 10 (Output format) in the format -0.AR.04-M where the month is not in numericals. Since it is in text it is taking one character spacing more.
I have tried in different ways to convert and increased the length in BI, the result is same. I am wondering if we can change the date format in database.
I am in puzzle with the this date format. I have checked other Oracle DB connections data for date fields in BI, they get data in the format 20.081.031 which will allow to convert this in BI. Only from the system i am trying creating a problem.

  • Finder date format in List View

I want to tell Finder NOT to display the day of the week or the spelling of the month in the date columns when it is in List View.
I want this exactly, and nothing else:
    mm/dd/yyyy 12:30
I want the month and day to always use two digits. It just think it looks better when a column of data is all formatted the same exact way. And, I don't need to know that 04/17/01 was a Thursday (or whatever it was)!
I know you can resize the columns to get various amounts of info and formats, but that's too much effort, plus you get all these weird ",..." filler garbage. Let's just make it simple!!!

I think the width of the column is the sole determinant of the date format shown in list views. I use an applescript to set the size, position and column width of Finder windows to my preferred specs; it sets the date column width so that a shorter (but not shortest) date format is used (because I'm picky about that, too ). You can easily tinker with the numbers so the sizing suits your own preferences.
    -- works on frontmost Finder window;
-- settings appropriate for display res 1440x900
    <code>
    tell application "Finder"
    set bounds of window 1 to {230, 120, 1260, 820}
set sidebar width of window 1 to 200
set width of column name column of list view options of window 1 to 280
set width of column modification date column of list view options of window 1 to 180
set width of column size column of list view options of window 1 to 100
set width of column kind column of list view options of window 1 to 180
    end tell

Instructions for saving scripts in case you or other readers need them: Copy and paste the above into a new Script Editor document (or highlight and use the Services -> Script Editor menu). Save as file format: Script at this path -- ~/Library/Scripts/Applications/Finder/ -- creating any folders that don't already exist. You can change the numbers in the script and use the Run button in the Script Editor toolbar to test until you get something you're happy with.

  • Date formats for SQL statements used by recordset object

    Hi,
Date formatting appears to be quite problematic for Business One.  I did a forum search for date issues and I don't think I saw any of them with an "answered" status.  I have an issue with formatting a date for the creation of an SQL statement that the DI sends to SQL Server 2005.  I need to format a date so that the localization parameters don't matter for either the client machine or SQL Server's machine.  We don't have a problem as long as our machines are localized as USA.
I have PL 22 and I have a form - ours - where I use the Today() function to fill a date field.  So this is a date that is not entered by the user.  The result of this function is consistent with the localization parameters on my machine.  We have two other date fields on the form where the user must type in the date.
As a test, I changed my machine to the UK parameters.  I then set up the language parameters of Business One for English(United Kingdom).  I changed the date format specifications in Business One so that its format is dd/mm/yy.  I then brought up the form and the field that is formatted by the above function arrived in the form's field as dd/mm/yy.  I then typed in the two other dates in the same format and added the record to the database.  The form's table is user-defined.
I dismissed the form then brought it back up loaded with the new record.  The date that was entered by the function appeared in USA format (mm/dd/yy).  The dates that were typed in appeared in the Business One format (dd/mm/yy).  This of course is not consistent.
When I looked at what got into the database, the formats were the opposite.  Weird!  To make matters really confusing, I run an SQL statement within SQL Server Mgt Studio, and use the WHERE clause to filter on the date that was based on the function.  It didn’t matter what format I used for the WHERE clause, the record came up.  Does anyone have any idea about how I can ensure that I always use the correct date format for SQL statements passed by Business One to SQL Server regardless of where in the world the application is being run?
    Thanks,
    Mike

    Ian,
Here's what I'm concerned about:  I’m using the date in a “WHERE” clause.
Assume the date is Aug 3, 2007.
"SELECT * FROM Table WHERE StartDate > ‘8/3/2007’"
    OR
"SELECT * FROM Table WHERE StartDate > ‘3/8/2007’"
If the client machine is set up as USA, the today function will provide the date as formatted in the first query.  If the database server is setup as let’s say the UK, I believe that SQL Server query parser will interpret the date as Mar 8, 2007.
If the client machine is set up as UK, the today function will provide the date as formatted in the second query.  If the database server is setup as let’s say USA, I believe that SQL Server query parser will also interpret the date as Mar 8, 2007.
In both cases it would be wrong.
I know I could use the DATEPART function to get the three parts and this will make the code indifferent to the localization specs of the client machine.  I need to then be able to concatenate those date parts for the “WHERE” clause so that the localization specifications of the database server don’t matter.
    Thanks,
    Mike

  • Why is the date format tied to regional settings

i like my date/time format to be customized to my liking. for me, the only way i can do this is to set my region to be the uk, even though i live here in the us. i find this kind of annoying since this causes some weird things to happen in other apps as well. for example, visiting the apple link would take me to the uk site instead of the us site. i understand that this is because i chose the uk in the international settings. but it's the only way i can get the date format that's close to what i want. is there a reason why apple doesn't allow you to customize the time/date format separately from choosing what country you reside in?

"We" are users like you, with no knowledge of why Apple does or does not include particular features. In this case, I'd guess for simplicity, but that's just a guess.
You can submit feedback to Apple: http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphone.html.

  • Date Format issue while Connecting to Oracle8i and Oracle10g

    Hi All,
While playing around with JDBC drivers, I came across this weird issue. I have a Local machine with Japanese Locale and I have 2 Database Servers that too with Japanese Locales and Oracle 8i and Oracle 10g each. Now, I connect to these database using JDBC drivers for 8i and perform "select sysdate from dual". Then, m getting dates with 2 different format. While 8i being returning Date with 'DD-MON-RRRR' format, 10g returns date with 'DD-MM_RR' format.
Initially I thought it might be because of some VM Locale thing but when I connected to 10g DB from 8i Oracle client, this behaviour did not changed. Which mean in this case also the date format returned ny the query was different.
Guys F1! F1! (Help! Help!) Appreciate your help to understand this process. Links and suggestions welcome... :)

I guess u did not read the whole content. I mentioned this but the difference in behaviour with respect to JDBC drivers made me post this in Java forum.
As I mentioned, it has something to do with the jdbc driver or oracle server itself. Agreed, but what that "something little to do" is the maiin question.
I mentioned that I want to understand this process about how JDBC driver works with Client VM specific Locale settings while interacting with Oracle Database.
Don't you think it could be interesting to know, what it is which brings this difference in results. Its all about clarifying the small bits & pieces which stays unanswered if one overlooks. Its own perception, I felt like asking question, no offense right!

  • Date format disappears after 3 or 4 executions

    Hi
My requirement is that i have to set my "current date" format as yyMMdd, setting this format is fine. It executes also normally with  the desired output. After executing 3 or 4 times, the target format of my date ,ie yyMMdd disapears and hence the output is a blank. its a bit weird.
Any idea why this is happening.
    Thanks in advance
    Saiyog

    Hi,
I beleive you are using Graphical mapping and Date is disappearing after producing the values for earlier occurences of field.
The only reason due to which it can happen is that you are not handling the context of occurence of source field. The occurence of source date should be equal to occurence of date field n target.
you may need to write some UDF or You can use SAP standard functions to achieve it.

  • Date Format problem in a Spanish OS?

    Hi Experts,
I have been stucked with this weird problem I am experiencing right now. I am able to process the date formats using SBO 2007A PL 37 and an English OS (XP, Vista) with no problem. But when we test the same application on a Spanish version of XP, I am getting an invalid date format.
Btw, in an English OS I can process all sbo date formats (mm/dd/ccyy, mm/dd/yy, dd/mm/yy, dd/mm/ccyy, ccyy/mm/dd, dd/month/yyyy). Is there anything else that I need to check somewhere?
    Thanks,

    Hi Marlon,
The OS Local definitions. Different countries have different date formats for their location. Check the date format of the OS CultureInfo settings.

  • HT3345 Importing from xls problems with the date format (mixed european format)

    Hi.
I made some spreadsheets with Neo Office and saved them in xls format. So I can import them in numbers, doing so in OpenOffice, LibreOffice or even the worst in Mircosoft Office on a PC works just fine. But importing them with Numbers 2.0.4 it just don't work.
    I have Mac OSX 10.5.8 and a PowerPC G4 1,67 GHz.
The date format in all other programs is " 21.05.2011" and numbers creates "21/05/2011" out of it. Although my international setting is set to 23.05.2012. It defines the cells as my own format and takes than the totally wrong format.
Does anyone know how to solve this problem, or how to change all the weird own formats in my international setting, which would be correct.
    Best regards.

    Hi Franklin,
I used to have similar problem with date too. To make my forms and reports work for all date, I used to send the parameter from forms to the report in text format. In the report, I grab that parameter as "Text Format" (I mean the parameter created in Oracle Reports was really as Character in datatype property) then I manipulate them in my SQL to convert that "date" into real date using TO_DATE function. Usually I use DD-MM-YYYY as my date format.
    Hope this help.
    Regards,
    Franko Lioe
    Hello friends at www.oracle.com,
when I sent some informations to Reports, one of these informations was a date field. Here, the format mask may vary from one computer to another - some computers here are using american date format; however, my computer was using brazilian date format.
The fact is that I was sending date information to Reports using the mask dd/mm/yyyy, and Reports (in the computer that uses american date format) couldn't recognize it, stating that I was sending an invalid month. So I had to change my date information to dd-mon-yyyy and Reports could run in the other computer, but doesn't run here anymore - fact that obligated me to change my date format to american format.
Is there any way for me to use a date format mask that's valid to all computers here? If other computers - with other format masks - meet the same problem, the use of this program may become something very complicated.
    Thanks for all answers,
    Franklin Gongalves Jr.

  • Problem with Date formatting

    Hi Tim,
I am facing some issues with formatting the date using XMLP. The following is the sample XML data file i am using:

    <G_HEADER>
    <QUOTE_HEADER_ID>1455</QUOTE_HEADER_ID>
    <QUOTE_NUMBER>2027</QUOTE_NUMBER>

    <QUOTE_DATE>27-OCT-2005</QUOTE_DATE>
    <CURRENCY_CODE>GBP</CURRENCY_CODE>

The formatting i use for my date field i.e <QUOTE_DATE>, ends up either with NO formatting or giving me an error "[010906_114656657][][ERROR] Invalid XSD string: 27-OCT-2005 (XMLP Template Viewer)". The default formatting available with the form field dialog box (MS-Word) feature also doesn't work.
I have the following formatting for this field in the form field:
    <?format-date:QUOTE_DATE; 'MEDIUM' ?>
When i read the user guide, it reads that the date should be in the canonical format i.e: YYY-MM-DDThh:mm:ss+HH:MM
However i am not getting the date from the base table's in this format. Is the error happening due to incorrect format or is there some other reason behind this? Please let me know, how can i overcome this issue.
    Thx,
