Date Transformation  - "Unparseable date error"

Hi,
I am getting an "Unparseable date error", my source date format (from IDOC) is 27102006, in the target format it should be along with the time stamp like 27102006132010.  I tried using the date transformation function and I am getting the following error:
“RuntimeException in Message-Mapping transformation: Runtime exception during processing target field mapping /SiebelMessage/ListOfAssetManagement/ListOfAssetMgmt-Asset/AssetMgmt-Asset/InstallDate. The message is: Unparseable date: "27102006" “.
solicit ur inputs!!!
Thanks & Regards
Viji

Hi,
Check your  java code in Message  Mapping,  Check out  whether  you  have  declared the data typr  exactly and again  import the java code  and activate the objects.

    Hi,
    I'm trying to use JobBeans as described in http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nwce711core/helpdata/en/44/3b022e36634a8fe10000000a1553f6/content.htm and have a Date parameter to pass in from the Java Scheduler.
    My job definition file looks like:

           <job-definition-parameter name="AgreementDate" data-type="Date" direction="IN"/>
        </job-definition>
    </job-definitions>
    When its deployed, I schedule the job to run, but as I hit finish (to schedule it) I get an error:
    The task was not added due to:Illegal date format: Unparseable date: "2010-09-03"
    The date I'm selecting is from the date picker on the Set Properties page. Any ideas on why this happens?
    Cheers,

    Well, for 720 the fix is in the 720 SP4, which is planned to be available soon.
    If you would like more details on the fix or a way to get this fix in your SP level, please open a CSN message in component BC-JAS-BTC.

  • SQL DM - Data Transformation and Data Movement option ?

    SQL DM - Data Transformation and Data Movement option ?
    I am using SQL DM 3.0.0.665. I need your thoughts on following.
    We find that Erwin introduced Data Transformation and Data Movement functionality to support ETL need. We were able to generate ETL spec using this feature.
    Does SQL DM have any plan to introduce such features?
    How do we use the current SQL DM to build ETL spec ?
    Thanks in helping us out.

    Hello,
    I am currently experimenting with SQL Data Modeler to produce high level solution designs and ETL specifications.
    Have not completed what I am doing but so far have come up with the following:
    Current assumption I am working on:
    All objects specified within the SQL Data Modeler will export to the Reporting Schema tables set up in an Oracle database. Once the data is within these tables then it will be a simple task to develop a SQL report to extract the data in any format required.
    1) There is nothing in the physical (Relational) Model section that supports this
    - though I have yet to fully use the Dimensional Modelling functionality which may have the mapping functionality required to specify an ETL
    2) We need diagrams of the processes as well as the ETL mapping
    - Process modelling is available in the Logical
    - Reverse Engineer all Physical objects to become Logical object i.e. one Table to one Entity
    - For each Entity set up an Information Structure
    (Currently this can only be done in a convoluted method via creating a diagram, creating a Flow and editing the Flow then drilling down)
    MESSAGE to SQL Data Modeler Support: Can things be set up so that Information Structures can be set up directly from the Browser, current method is a bit nonsensical
    - You are now set up to use the Logical Process Modeling functionality to capture the ETL requirements
    - Advise that you reference the training to understand what primitive, composite and transformation processes objects are
    - Also, take the time to understand what an external agent object is
    - Will assume you know what a Data Store is
    Here is the standard I am heading towards that seems feasible, will need to run a proof of concept within the larger team to ensure it works though:
    - A Logical is kept that is a one for one with the Physical
    (The only reason for this is that there is no process modeling functionality for the Physical objects
    MESSAGE to SQL Data Modeler Support: Can you duplicate the Process Modeling for the Logical to be available for the Physical objects too, would be a great help to specify ETL jobs.
    - An External Agent is used to represent an external source e.g. Billing application
    - A primitive process is used to represent the high Level design
    - A composite process is used to specify processes which can be further broken down to ETL jobs
    - A transformation process is used to represent an ETL job
    Within a Transformation process you can specify the mapping from multiple sources to a target table
    There are some negatives to this approach:
    - You lose the physical schemas the tables are part of, though a naming convention will get round this
    - You need to maintain a logical that is one for one with the physical, this is not a big overhead
    However, as I have stated in my message to the SQL Data Modeler support team, would all be resolved if the Process Modeling functionality were also made available within the Physical objects environment.
    Please note that we have not as yet adopted the above approach and are still assessing is SQL Data Modeler will meet this requirement to our satisfaction. The critical bit will be if the data exports to the Reporting Schema, if it does then we have plenty of SQL resource that can produce the reports required procided the data can be captured.
    Hope that all helps.
    Also, hope I have not missed the point of your email.
    Kind regards,
    Yusef

  • Unparseable date: "" error in  pi

    Hi Experts,
    Can anyone please help me for the below query
    On the receiver side I need to get value  as ' 2010-12-30TO8.00:00 '.
    To achive this in graphical mapping i used date trans but i am geting error as unparseable date..
    Regards
    Akhil

    Hi,
    This error Usually Comes .,. when Ur Transform(Date Function) is expecting Date in Some Specific format and your are Providing Input Date in some Other format .
    So Please Check , what is the format of Actual Coming Date and then Double Click on DateTransform Function and Match the format of source Date Format.
    if both Not same , make both format same,
    INPUT DATE        -        TRANSFORM DATE  FUNCTION         - OUTPUT DATE
    TRANSFORM DATE Has 2 values ( Source Date and Target Date)
    So INPUT date format and Source date format of DateTrans Function should match.
    similarly
    So OUTPUT  date format and target date format of DateTrans Function should match.

    Thanks in advance!

    setDateFormat() is expecting a format mask that is valid for the java.text.SimpleDateFormat object.
    So, just do:
    setDateFormat("d/M/yyyy");
    null

    In the Connector configuration page, I have the following values set:

    Any idea on how I can resolve this issue ?
    Thank you in advance

    Hi,
    Your Source Date Format should look like "MM/dd/yyyy hh:mm:ss a".
    It should be same as your target system date format.If "MM/dd/yyyy hh:mm:ss a" didn't work then try to find out correct format for "10/31/1983 12:00:00 AM" .
    Hope this will help.

  • Unparseable date error

    hi,
    i 've developed and application, in which at some point it compares dates. i have used win2k (english) version for development evn.
    when the qa is testing it on non english w2k, they are getting unparseable date error.
    ===========
    WARNUNG: java.text.ParseException: Unparseable date: "Fri Feb 01 10:04:25 CET 2003"
    ===========
    the formatter i have used is "EEE MMM d HH:mm:ss z yyyy". so could this error be just because of non enlish version of w2k??? or something else??
    thanks a in advance.
    ri

    Ok, so now I have found out where the problem was and I was able to correct it... here is how it went...
    What was the code doing and why the error was there...
    1. Code was stording a String as returned by new Date.toString(), which is always with locale en_US
    2. When comparing the dates code was retreving the date from the file.
    3. It was parsed using new SimpelDateFormate(String pattern).parse(dateobjcreatedfromStringobj) which returns the date with default OS Locale.
    4. So now I had en_US date string being parsed by default OS Locale.
    new SimpelDateFormate(String Pattern, new Locale("en","US")).parse(dateobjcreatedfromStringobj)5. This is what was generating unparseable date exception.
    6. This was making the development comp to generate no exception as it is of locale en_US. And making the testing comp generate exception.
    Hope this help out all the readers.
    Thank you all.

  • Error Unparseable date: "1999-05-03"

    Hi All,
    I am getting an unparseable date error. The database returns date of format "1999-05-03". I would like to format the date to yyyyMMdd format. My code is as follows
    Date effectiveDt = new Date();
    String dateFormat = "yyyyMMdd";
    DateFormat format = new SimpleDateFormat(dateFormat);
              format.setLenient(false);
    effectiveDt = (Date)format.parse(rs.getDate("ear_date_fr").toString());I tried another way by converting the date returned by the databse to SQL date and it still gives problem...
    effectiveDt = (Date)format.parse(formUtil.returnSqlDate(rs.getDate("ear_date_fr").toString()).toString());formUtil.returnSqlDate code is actually as follows:
    public static java.sql.Date returnSqlDate(String formDate) {
         java.util.Date utilDt = null;
         SimpleDateFormat df1 = new SimpleDateFormat("yyyyMMdd");
         try {
              utilDt = df1.parse(formDate);
         catch (ParseException pxp) {
              return null;
         return new java.sql.Date(utilDt.getDate());
    }any help appreciated..
    hepzi leon soon

    If i use the following:
    effectiveDt = rs.getDate("ear_date_fr");it returns the date good... like: 1999-05-03
    but I just wanted to change the format to 19990503
    that is where it is giving me error

    hello,
    I've a source field datesource type date and

    datesource = yyyymmdd and i need in datetarget = ddmmyyyy.

The message is: Unparseable date: ""
    thanks very much

    If you feel that 00000000 is not passed properly to the target then instead of the DateTransform function why dont you try for multiple substring functions in the mapping logic for the target date.......looking at your req you will need three substring functions and two concat functions....
    Ultimately your requirement is to convert yyyymmdd to ddmmyyyy then it can be even achieved using substring functions....the reason for using DateTransform function is that it is simple, has capability to insert date separator.....
    So if you feel for 0s the o/p is wrong then you can consider substring logic (it works for date ---> date mapping and have just tested it)....and it works for 20090630 as well as 00000000
