Dates and differences?

Hi I am interested in setting up two dates, one is the current day and one which indicates when an activity last took place.
For example when I insert into a database I want to set the date of last actity to the current date, however then I want to be able to check whether that last activity date was longer than seven days ago...how would i go around this in the best way?

I accomplished something similar by having a class with two dates in it. Just set the lastRan date to the mostRecentlyRan date and mostRecentlyRan to the current date.
Conversely, the database could have two date fields, following the same logic.

What is the difference between delivery date and actual goods issue date?

Can you please tell me the difference between Delivery date and Actual goods issue date ?
Delivery data can be be greater than goods issue date?

Hi Ajay,
Delivery date means its the original date on which the delivery should be done.Actual goods Issue date is the date on which goods to be delivered according to the purchase order.There can be delay in the delivery so we maintain 2 objects.
Yes delivery date can be greater than Goods Issue date.

I am trying to check the last date (i.e. max date) and also check the penultimate date (i.e. the second to the last date). And then find the difference between the two (i.e. last date minus penultimate
date).
I would like to do that for each of the companies listed in Table 2: Tickers. I am able to do it for just one company (MSFT) using the queries below:

Difference between Invoice Date, GL Date and Accounting Date Oracle AP

I have a question that might help a lot of people too later.
I tried to run these queries
select aia.INVOICE_ID
from AP_INVOICES_ALL aia, AP_INVOICE_DISTRIBUTIONS_ALL aida
where aia.INVOICE_ID = aida.INVOICE_ID
and aia.INVOICE_DATE <> aida.ACCOUNTING_DATE
select aia.INVOICE_ID
from AP_INVOICES_ALL aia, AP_INVOICE_DISTRIBUTIONS_ALL aida
where aia.INVOICE_ID = aida.INVOICE_ID
and aia.GL_DATE <> aida.ACCOUNTING_DATE
I can see that there are lot of results for these queries, where the Invoice Date is not equal to the Accounting date and the GL_Date of an invoice is not equal to the accounting date in the distributions table.
So, what is the difference between these dates.
And if I had to take the Invoice Accounting document entry date, which date do i have to take for these invoices in AP

Let me try to explain this with an example.
Suppose I buy some stationary from a vendor and he provides me with a detailed invoice of the goods puchased.
In this case the invoice will always have a date printed on it and this date should ideally be entered in the invoice date at AP_INVOICES_ALL level.
Now suppose the invoice happens to be received by me in february and for some reason I could not capture the invoice in my books in february and made a provision for the liabilities and close the books.
However in march i want to book the invoice say on 10th of march in my books and pay the vendor the amount payable.(I Have to reverse the already provided liability in march to reverse the accounting effect).
In this case my book entry date of invoice is the accounting date i.e. 10 March.
In case of oracle, the accounting is maintained so that the invoice header hits the liability account while the invoice distribution hits the charge account(expense account so to say). And to gain more flexibility oracle provides date in both header and distributions to provide an option of booking liability and charge on different dates..
As per the 11i checks there is no check on any of these dates except that accounting date at header and ditribution level must be in an open AP and GL period.

Posting Date: Date which is used when entering the document in Financial Accounting or Controlling. The posting date can differ from both the entry date and the doc date.
Document Date: The document date is the date on which the original document was issued. Ex: Inv date, Bill date etc.,
Invoice Date : Usually the date when goods are shipped. Payment dates are set relative to the invoice date.

Difference between Posting Date and Posting Day

In Accounting Document Header table BKPF, there are 2 fields: BUDAT (Posting Date) and PSOBT (Posting Day), both of DATS type. What is the difference between the two?
Why is that substitutions and Business Transaction Events allow changing of Posting Day (PSOBT) and not BUDAT (Posting Date)?
In that case, how can I change the Posting Date of a document based on certain rules?

13 period is a special accounting period, so the situation you described is perfectly normal. The reversal document will be posted in the same period.

Difference between "Database Variant To Data" and "Variant To Data"

Can anyone tell me the differnce between the 2 VI's "Database Variant To Data" and "Variant To Data"?
I am using the database connectivity toolset and making a query.
I have tried using both, but the give me the same result.

You won't see a difference between these two functions with just a string or other simple data types. Where you'll see a difference is with clusters and more complex data types that come from the database. The variants returned by databases can be slightly different than the standard variant. That is where the Database Variant To Data is needed. Otherwise, if you are just reading string information, either function will work fine.

My date and time format is like: 2013-12-24T10:47:38 and have three fields Start date, End date and Actual time taken.
If start date and end date filled then actual time taken field should automatically should fill, for example 2 days 12 hours 48 min 3 sec.

As an addendum to this, I thought I'd add this in also: If you have two valid DateTime objects you might consider using a class which I put together a few years ago
shown on a page of my website here.
To use it, just instantiate with two DateTime objects (order doesn't matter, it'll figure it out) and you'll then have access to the public properties. For this example, I'm just showing the .ToString method:

I have a requirement where i want to stop replicat if particular record is encountered on target.
if PARAMETER_CODE="APPLDATE" and difference between parameter_value is 1 then replicat should stop.
the code i am using is,

Replicat process abends with error in filter clause.
Concern here is the parameter_value column is in varchar2 and not in date. (if its date than filter (on updates, @datediff ("DD",before.PARAMETER_VALUE, PARAMETER_VALUE) =1) is working correctly). I need to stop replicat when date(in varchar2 format) gets incremented by 1.
Please do help in solving the issue.

    Because some time in my org. po created after GR means in past date. So there is difference between

Please check table EKKO with ta SE11.
Created Date => EKKO-AEDAT
Date on which the record was created
Document date => EKKO-BEDAT
Date on which the purchasing document was created
EKKO-AEDAT = Date on which the record was created
and also "Created By" also recorded automatically
by system.
Document date or EKKO-BEDAT normally default as
today when you create the PO via ME21N. This field
appear at top right of the screen. However this date
can be change to any date that required.

Officer in-charge of payroll accounting

also from where I could get the accounting cluster data for the wage types
I want to know from where I can get these fields and how ther are related with wage types.

Check through PA30,there are different infotypes by which these data are maintained in the Employee Master.
