Dates in charts

Hello,
I have a dataset from which I draw a chart. The data has a transaction date and a value for each day in a month except for those days where the value is NULL.
In excel the chart scales nicely for the full month but in Web Intelligence i get a bar only for those dates available in the dataset.
As a workaround i've tried to merge the query with the following sql statement which returns all days for the previous months:
select trunc(trunc(sysdate,'MM')-1,'MM') -1 + level as DateRange
from dual
where (trunc(trunc(sysdate,'MM')-1,'MM') -1 + level) <= last_day(trunc(trunc(sysdate,'MM')-1,'MM'))
connect by level<=31;
Unfortunately that doesn't work either. If I insert the query in the Universe I get "table missing". Inserting it in the report doest work either (Invalid type of column).
There must be an easier way to build a nice chart, can someone please advice?
Thanks
Robert

Chaitanya,
Thanks for your answer, unfortunately it didn't solve my problem.
Regards
Robert

    Hi Mario Castro,
In selection Screen  initially u have to enter the input value after provides some user command only next screen will be trigger.
In the next screen PBO event you cant assign selection screen Variable into next screen fields.
    Eg.
    Selection Screen Variable
              s_belnr
               s_bukrs
               s_gjahr
    Next Screen
               t_belnr
               t_bukrs
               t_gjahr
    In PBO  you can code
              t_belnr  = s_belnr
              t_bukrs = s_bukrs
             s_gjahr  =   s_gjahr
Revert back if any difficulties to do.

  • How to extract data from Chart History?

Dear all, I have read a lot of posts, but still don't understand how to extract data from Chart history.
Suppose you acquired 1024 points of data every time, then use "build array" to build an array, then send to intensity chart to show, then save the history into a .txt file,  but how to extact data from the file?
How Labview store the data in the 2D history buffer?
    Anybody has any examples?

The simplest would be to save the 2D array as a spreadsheet file, the read it back the same way.
Maybe the attached simple example can give you some ideas (LabVIEW 7.1). Just run it. At any time, press "write to file". At any later time, you can read the save data into the second history chart.
If you are worried about performance, it might be better to use binary files, but it will be a little more complicated. See how far you get.
LabVIEW Champion . Do more with less code and in less time .

  • Problems with displaying data in Chart

    Hi, everyone
I am stuck with displaying data in Chart. I set the minimum
and maximum for LinearAxis of a LineChart, so the chart only
display the data within this range. But sometimes I still need to
keep the trend of all data even the data is out of range.
eg, the range of verticalAxis is 0 -100 and I got data 70,
120, 90. Neither I want to set the data 120 to 100 in order to keep
the data point nor make the data 70 connected directly to data 90.
All I want is to keep the shape, from 70 to 120, from 120 to 90,
but 120 doesn't display in the chart.
My another question is when I try to select an area of a
chart to zoom in, how can I the get the exact area that I select to
    zoom,
for example: I want to use exactly the result of the
    following line:
    ((firstMouseX - this.mouseX)/ this.dataRegion.width) *
    chart.dataProvider.length
that is I don't want to use methods ceil or floor to get the
    approximate area.
Excuse me, I got one question more. The weird things is my
chart won't resize itself when I resize the VDividedBox or other
containers. I set the width equals 100% wherever it needs to be.
Just like the Flex sample - dashboard. If I open a small window at
the very begining and then maximize the window, the chart still
keep the small part of its container. I don't understand why.
    Sorry for too many questions.
    Hope someone can help me.
    Thanks in advance.

Can I use the Interpolate to solve the first problem?
But I have no idea about interpolate at all.
    Please help!

  • Show data in chart is overlaping

in one of my chart in webi i switch on the property of show data in chart.
i have three measures in the chart.
Now the problem is somtime these measures data is overlap on chart.
how to avoid this overlaping of chart data.
    Regards
    Malik

Chart type is Vartical and Line.
    i have three measures
    Sales Value
    Stock Value
    GP%
Even my Sales and Stock values are in thousands.
Sales and Stock is in bar and GP% represend by line.
GP% is creating problem. somtimes GP% exactly come to the place of Sales or stock value data value
so GP% and Sales or Stock value will overlap and we can not read anything what is exact value.
    i hope you can understand.

  • Date in chart title

    Hello all,
Sorry to say, but i don't have a lot of experience with Birt, but basically the thing i want to achieve is to put a date on chart's title.
I've been searching the web for something similar, but haven't found anything ( or at least similar).
First question would be if that's even possible to do and secondly if it is possible, what should i have to do..
Will appreciate at least a hint.
One option would be, inserting a text field and adding a new Date() to the text, but in this case i cant really find a way to rotate this text.

This looks to be a duplicate.
I have replied on the first post here: https://www.eclipse.org/forums/index.php/t/1069242/

  • How to get the data in Charts

    HI Guys,
In the BEX reports for the rows used the date and in the columns i have created a structue using the selections based on the KF. i have used the 29 KF in the structure. My problem i want to dispaly the data by spliting the key figures from 1-15 and 16-29 in the WAD for the tables and graphs
i did the settings for the tables as followed and getting the data correctly
Display data from value column = 1
Display data  to value column = 15.
i want to apply the same settings for the graph.
Please help me where i need to do the settings for the series(legends).
    Thanks,
    Visu
Edited by: visu rao on Apr 9, 2008 5:45 PM

    Hi Visu,
In Chart, you cannot have such option. You should have two same queries as such with 1 to 15 KF's in one query and 16 to 29 KF's (with structures) in second query with all other similar fields. Now use these two queries in two different charts with 15 categories in first chart and the other 14 categories in second chart. You can have the categories what ever you want... U just need to maintain in the query in the structure, the number of KF's... and the same number of categories in chart.
You can have the categories and series count in "Edit chart-->Wizard and Chart designer".
Assign points if this helps u...

    KK.

  • Highlighting  Source Data When Chart is been moved to Another Sheet?

    Hi,
I know that when a chart is chosen, it's corresponding data becomes highlighted when the two (table and chart) are on the same sheet. Is there a way to highlight the data when the two are on separate sheets, so one could toggle between the two sheets and make changes as necessary? I know I can move the chart back to the data sheet, make the changes and then move it back again to its own sheet. I have to do this, anyway, if I want to crop the chart (without deleting data) or shift the data in the chart to the right by a column or two, for example, but it would be so much nicer, if I could just highlight the data 'remotely' from the chart, so-to-speak. I have a couple of other reasons for wanting to do this also:
    (1) I make my charts almost full screen size, so moving them back to the data sheet cuts them off (tough to see any changes without scrolling or shrinking the chart).
    (2) I have multiple data tables on one sheet with multiple charts to complement the data tables. Putting all the charts and data on the same sheet can make for one very untidy sheet no matter how big the screen.
I've looked around on the forum and in Numbers Help, but found only one reference to moving charts to separate sheets. Unfortunately, it didn't address this particular issue. If I can suggest this to the Numbers developers, where can I go?
    Thanks!

    Hello
The only workaround that I found is to use an auxiliary table in the sheet where you display the chart.
In this auxiliary table the used formula is:
    =Feuille 1 :: Tableau 1 :: A

  • Use comment from X-Channel data in Chart Legend

    Hi,
Does anybody know how to set up a chart legend that will display the channel comment for the X-Channel?  There is a standard option for selecting the Y-Channel comment and the line below also achieves this.  In my case the Y-data is shared across all curves and the X-Data is independent.  Thanks in advance!
    Display the Y-Channel Comment:
    @CC(CCN)@

You're right, it doesn't work with "curve-related text", no idea, why...
But there is a way - probably not the best one - to do this.
Dim oMy2DaxisSystem, oMy2DCurve, oMyShape, oMyPosition, oMyLegendColumns, oMyCurveLegendPos

    oMyLegendColumns(2).Type = eLegendTextCustomText
    oMyLegendColumns(2).RelativeWidth = 1
    oMyLegendColumns(2).Text = "@CC(CurrXChnNo)@"
    Call Report.Refresh()
The code is available in Examples, I just added some minor details.
Another way (shorter, but not so universally valid) is to extend your code:
    Report.ActiveSheet.Objects.Item("2DAxis2").CurveLegend.Columns.Item(1).Type = eLegendTextCustomText
    Report.ActiveSheet.Objects.Item("2DAxis2").CurveLegend.Columns.Item(1).Text = "@CC(CurrXChnNo)@"
IMO, this works only if you already have the graph.
And take care about the object name ("2DAxis2"), this can vary from page to page...

  • Overlapping data when more data column chart SSRS

    Hi guys,
In my ssrs report the column chart  display is not good when more number of datas are viewed. How to overcum this issue
I searched more on this issue no good solution found.
I attached screenshot for this report,
    any suggestions pls
    Thanks,
    R.B

    Hi R.B,
I can reproduce the issue in my local environment. If there are more column data with adjacent values in the chart, the label will be overlapped due to the insufficient space. In this scenario, there are several properties you can use to try to get the labels
to fit better. Click the data point to open the Properties Windows, then go to the SmartLabels node.
Expand the "NoMoveDirections" node. This will give us a lot of directions that we can use to restrict the directions that the labels can move in. We can try to change directions to see if it helps.
Try to enlarge the chart size and use the method below to adjust the column size, it will free up more space to contain the label.
    http://www.bidn.com/blogs/ChrisAlbrektson/bidn-blog/1832/ssrs-adjust-bar-chart-width
If we want to remove the black arrow, we can refer to the following thread:
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/e3019086-4f72-4898-ba86-2e7c97c8fae4/ssrs-series-lable-overlaping-issue?forum=sqlreportingservices
Alternatively, we can use Tooltip property to instead of actually displaying. Type the same expression with Value field in the Tooltip property.
    Hope this helps.

  • Label and legend problem in grouped month data pie chart for Crystal XI

    Post Author: mikeyplop
    CA Forum: Charts and Graphs
Hi all, I have a problem with a pie chart I created based upon monthly figures that were grouped.  The data type is DateTime but I have modified the report to show the date as January 2007, February 2007 etc. etc.  This is all fine and appropriate as it is based on a gouping of all the data into months. However, when I chart the same data the labels and legend do not reflect this formatting.  Instead they show up as 01/2007, 02/2007 etc. etc. I have searched the forums, but was unable to find any one else who has had the same problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Kind regards, Mikey

  • Problem with MS Powerpoint: cannot edit data in Chart or print

Not sure if anyone has advice but here goes.
Today while editing a Powerpoint slide show, i discovered I was unable to create a new chart or edit the data in an existing chart.
Further, I am unable to print out of Powerpoint or MS Word.
Once I have tried command-P, I am then unable to even quit out of the MS programs suites.
This just started today and was working fine yesterday.  I did get a message that I needed to download a new XL converter from teh MS site (error msg. -2147483640) but I cannot locate that download either.  MS help line was no help.
Using Powerpoint v.11.6.4  on an iMac Intel (OS 10.6.8).
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Do you have any programs or drivers you have moved over from a PowerPC Mac?  The latest security update 2012-001 has disabled many applications ability to print.  This may just be a side effect.

  • Automatic update of start date and finish dates in chart

    Hi,
Are having several charts in our customized reports where we weekly go in and change the start and finish dates of the charts in order to show fresh data. Is there way of doing this using VBA? (Next week for the below chart would then state 3 as start
week and 10 as finish week.)
The dates are today Changed manually in the below standard form.
Hope it is explained clear enough and that there is a way of programming it.
    Kind regards //Anders

Have been trying a bit more and found out how to access the chart to a certain extent. It seems to be possible the change the X-Axis Values via:
    chart.axes(xlcategory).minimumscale
    chart.axes(xlcategory).maximummscale
Are however not able to find values that really will show up, have tried numerous formats, and by using just simple numbers like for example 100 the code runs, but the X-axis values dissapears instead of changing.
The question is if it is at all possible to then also change the actual data in the chart to show the weeks that are entered. No use of changing the axis values without changing the data for the weeks as well. Have not been able to find anything about accessing
the data values, perhaps they are not accessible? From within MS Project it is not possible to Clock on the "edit source data" in the menu which appears when right clicking on the chart.
    Any ideas are welcome.
    Kind regards //Anders

  • Buffer data before chart it and block size

I hope you can help me with this situation because I have been stoped in this situation for two days and I think that I won't see the light in the short time and the time is a scarce resource.
I want to use a NI DaqCard-AI-16XE-50 ( 20KS/s accordig to specifications). To acquired data in DasyLab I've been using OPC DA system but when I try get a chart from the signal I get awfull results.
I guess the origin of the problem is the PC is not powerfull to generate a chart in real time, so Is there a block to save the data, then graph the data without use "Write Data" Block to avoid write data to disk?
Another cause of the problem it could be an incorrect set value of Block size, but in my piont of view with the 10Khz, and 4096 of block size is more than neccesary to acquire a signal of 26[Hz] (showing in the photo). If I reduce the block size to 1 the signal showing in the graph is a constant of the first value acquire. Why could be this situation?
Thanks in advance for your answers,

     ASCII [M] hex 4D = Model/ Password/ ID#/ # of zones
