DB start & Stop With Multiple Homes

I have four instances on my box in total. Two instances(orcl & prod) run on a file system, One instance (+Asm) is ASM storage and the last instance(test) uses the asm storage.
Following are the contents of my oratab file in /etc/oratab
orcl:/u01/oracle/software:Y
+ASM:/home/oracle/oracle/product/10.2.0/db_2:Y
test:/u01/oracle/software:Y
Prod:/u01/oracle/software:Y
Following is my db startup and shutdown script:-
ORACLE_HOME=/u01/oracle/software
ORA_OWNER=oracle
case $1 in
'start')
#If the system is starting, then .
su - $ORA_OWNER -c $ORACLE_HOME/bin/dbstart #Start the database
'stop')
#If the system is stops, that is we.re shutting down our OS, then
su - $ORA_OWNER -c $ORACLE_HOME/bin/dbshut
esac
When i hash out # the instances using asm in /etc/oratab (+ASM & test) the script works fine as usual i.e it will show me orcl and prod when i do a ps -ef | grep pmon , but once i un-hash all the instances in the oratab it doesnt bring up any instance on startup.
And what's funny is when i run the script manually like this su - $ORA_OWNER -c $ORACLE_HOME/bin/dbstart, it would bring up all the instances.
Not sure what the problem is, can you point it out please.

  • How do I prevent an extension/plugin update tab to automatically and recurringly start up with my home page?

I am using Firefox 4 in Windows 7 Professional. Every time, I start up Firefox 4, a tab of any recently updated extensions/plugins will automatically start up with my home page. I tried resetting my home page and uninstalling and reinstalling the extensions/plugins; but, to no avail. Each time this happens the only way I could resolve this problem was to remove the extension/plugins. I am afraid if this issue continues, I will have no extensions/plugins left in my browser; unless, you can help me find a better solution.

It could be that you somehow have both pages set to be your home page or you got firefox set to remember your tabs from last time. Check your home page settings with the instructions in [[How to set the home page]].

  • I have asked this once now I ask again. How do I stop Firefox from being my home page? I have my homepage set but Firefox starts first with my home page and I cant stop it. If I cant stop it then I will just have to uninstall.

When I start Firefox my home page does not start first, it is set as my home page but Firefox starts first. This is since upgrading to the newest version,

  • How can I open safari with multiple home pages

    Hi All
On my iPhone 4 I always follow the same four websites (2x e-mail, 1x news and 1x sport page).  Is there a way that I can set Safari on the iPhone to open these four pages on startup.  i.e. open up with 4 home pages.
    Thanks in advance
    Sathers

It strikes me that it should be possible to do that (or something similar) by building a safari extension, TC. Both Sessions and SafariRestore are able to launch multiple tabs from a previous session, so it seems like you should be able to create an extension that launches multiple tabs open to specific sites when Safari is launched.

  • How to set the PATH Environment variable with multiple homes?

I have several Oracle homes, and now I cannot get reports to work anymore. These are the things I installed, in this order:
    - Oracle Database 10g
    - Oracle Developer Suite 10g
    - Oracle Discoverer 4
    - Oracle HTMLDB
Now my PATH environment variable is flooded with paths, but none seem to work when I want to start Reports 10g. I deleted all of the paths from the other homes and still no luck.
    This was my original PATH:
    C:\oracle\product\10.1.0\db_1\jre\1.4.2\bin\client;
    C:\oracle\product\10.1.0\db_1\jre\1.4.2\bin;

  • Start - stop with two daq counters

    I have the following problem:
I have two channels. One channel consist of one ttl pulse, repeated with a frequency nu1. The other channel consist of two ttl pulses (with a certain distance in time deltat1= (B-C)), repeated with a frequency nu1.
The scheme below should help to visualize
    ......][......A....................][.....
    ......][............B....C........][......
I would like to measure the time difference B-A, and C-A.
Is there a simple way to do that using the counters? I have a DAQ card of NI with two counters on it and LV 6.0. Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks you a lot
    -Claudio

    Hi,
What you need is 'Two Edge Seperation Measurment', and this is only available on a NI-TIO based devices (660x family). This can not be achieved with the card you have - I assume it is an E-Series card. There is a shipping example that ships with LabVIEW 6.0 that would measure edge seperation (Two Edge Seperation Measurement (NI-TIO).vi).

  • How can i control when my animation starts/stops with external JS

I am making a web app that will allow you to go through "pages" by clicking and dragging or sliding your finger (touch devices).
I am wanting to make a seperate animation on Edge for each page and play it when the current page is on witht the relevant edge comp.
So far my code allows me to know what page is being viewed and that the animation should be played, however I can not figure out how to play the comp.
    ie.
    WHEN page = 1, play composition "page1".
If currentPage is not currentPage, stop composition "page 1".
Please could you help me as I've been racking my brain all day to figure this out.

    Hi,
    You'll find a tutoriel here.
Then, example #1 and example #2.

  • When I set up multiple home pages, I get two NEW pages when I click "home"

    Firefox 19.0.2 on XP
I have always had firefox set up to open two page, so my home page setting reads
    https://www.google.com|https://www.google.com
When I open Firefox, I get two tabs, both on Google. If I opened a 3rd tab I got a blank page. Just what I wanted.
Now, suddenly - when I open Firefox, I get my two home pages, but if I'm in Page 0 and click HOME, I get TWO MORE tabs open to my home page (for a total of 4 pages).
I read online to replace the pipe with %7C but that causes a -27 Service error.
Something changed inside FF in the latest updates ... how do I get the expected behavior back?

I have had the same original problem here as dbdataplus12 for a while now concerning having multiple tabs set as home page.
For my use, I have 4 tabs set up as home pages - each tab being set to a different web address, as I always use all 4 websites whenever I start any browsing sessions.
I had given up hope of trying to find an answer to resolve it or at least find out why it happens.
If it's just because it's the way FF works then so be it, and I'm stuck with FF doing something that, as far as I'm concerned, it shouldn't really be doing that way - but I'll have to put up with it anyway ;)
But having come across these replies to dbdataplus12 query it's prompted me to have to post here.
I can see why dbdataplus12 basically gave up on trying to get a clear answer to his query. "That said, I'm bored with this entire conversation - and now I will do what true Americans now do in cases like this - I will lower my expectations. "
So maybe I can explain better what I see as my problem with multiple home pages, what is happening within FF and why I think that it shouldn't be doing things that way, and what I think FF should be doing instead.
If it turns out that I'm just expecting too much from FF or the people who program FF, or maybe my expectations are too high to have something so obvious be able to be done - that just doesn't happen in FF, or maybe just plain wrong of me to expect certain things from a tool such as FF - then so be it ;)
As dbdataplus12 said " ... if I set up my home page option with TWO home pages (google | yahoo) then when I open FF I get two tabs with their respective pages loaded."
When I startup FF I get my 4 tabs opened to their respective web addresses. So far so good :)
I then use those 4 tabs during my session, and again so far so good ;)
The problem then happens when I wish to go to my home pages again.
On clicking the Home button, a new set of 4 tabs open up, each going to their respective web address as they are supposed to.
Why aren't the original, existing tabs used to go to the home pages?
I would have thought that it was obvious that when I click on the Home page button that the 4 tabs that are open go to the home pages.
If I had closed one or more tabs then I would expect FF to open new tabs as required, and use those tabs to go to the relevant home pages.
If I had opened new tabs myself during my session to visit other web addresses, I would expect that the first tabs be used to go to the Home pages - any other tabs that may be open would stay on their relevant pages.
That's what I would expect to happen.
Not for FF to just open up 4 new tabs.
As I say, to me, it's just plain obvious.
The first tabs onscreen should be used to open up any Home pages set up, so that whenever the Home page button is pressed those tabs are used.
And for FF to open up additional tabs, if tabs had been closed and are needed to enable all the home pages to be shown.
As I say, to me, it's just plain obvious.
So, if it's just that FF doesn't work that way - then so be it. I'll accept that as the answer and have to put up with new tabs opening every time I press Home ;)
But maybe someone, somewhere, could think about altering FF so that it uses existing tabs etc instead of just opening new ones. Maybe you could have a setting in the preferences to switch the option on or off to reuse tabs whenever the Home button is pressed.
Just a really, obvious idea ;)
Thanks for reading - and hopefully replying.
And hopefully taking the idea onboard ;)

  • How can I setup multiple home page tabs?

I am trying to setup mozilla like I have internet explorer. This is to say with multiple home page tabs on opening. Can I do this, if so how?

    See:
    * https://support.mozilla.com/kb/How+to+set+the+home+page

  • When I close my browser and reopen, it, all of the tabs that were previously open reopen, does not refresh and open with my home page opening.

when I close my browser and then reopen it, it does not go to the selected home page, but reopens with all of the previous tabs. reviewed the available knowledge based answers, but none seemed to fix problem. I'm not certain that I did everything correctly, but I believe I followed the directions properly. problem persists.

Assuming Firefox is set to start up with your home page, there are two common reasons for this:
    * You have a user.js file instructing Firefox to ignore your previously saved settings and restore the earlier session. See this article on tracking down and removing that file: [[How to fix preferences that won't save]].
    * Firefox is crashing, and doing an automatic crash recovery. As a diagnostic, you can change what Firefox does during a crash recovery, from automatically restoring to showing a list of windows and tabs from your previous session so you can pick and choose what to restore.
    ''To try the change:''
    (1) In a new tab, type or paste '''about:config''' in the address bar and press Enter. Click the button promising to be careful.
    (2) In the search box above the list, type or paste '''sess''' and pause while the list is filtered
    (3) Double-click the '''browser.sessionstore.max_resumed_crashes''' preference and change the value from 1 to 0 and OK that.
    Hope that helps.

  • Which is the best structure for start/stop data logging?

    Hi everybody,
hope I can explain my problem good enough that anyone can help me:
I have a VI which continuely shows on a graph the voltage of a Analog Input of a DAQ device. Now I want to allow the user to start/stop with a click on a button data logging. Means that a second loop writes to a selected path every ms the data to a spreadsheet file.
At the moment my VI works like this:
You run the VI and Labview asks you one time for the file path, then you can start and stop the data logging. But you can do it only one time. If you want to log a certain time later another file, you have to close and open the whole VI again which is not very professional...
    My target is:
It is onlyl necessary to start the VI one time. Then you can select a new file path, log data, select another file path, logging data again....and so on...
Which programm structure is necessary, can anyone help me as a labview beginner with that issue? I attached the VI if someone just wants to edit that...
Thank you for your help!! Markus

    @NaruF1 and GerdW
you are right, there is a mistake, both loop rates should be the same (10 ms) :-)
    @NaruF1
yes you understood correctly that the file dialog should appear every time the user wants to start writing a new log-file. The voltage we measure is a analog signal, so there will be several interesting periods we want to save for a later analysis in Excel.
To your 2nd point: if it works with a array it will be fine. But it must be possible to log data for lets say 5 minutes, so the array won´t be too large? (5 min @ 10  ms loop rate will be 30000 rows..
attached is the VI, saved as LV2009..
    Thanx a lot!
    @GerdW
..you ask why I didn´t create a structure like you recommended with notifiers or queues? The simple answer would be that I am not familiar with all this.. just began to write my first Labview programm. I will have al look to the LV help with all that stuff... Thank you a lot

  • When working with multiple artboards, are there separate layers panels for each artboard?

Just started working with multiple artboards in ai but have read nothing about the layers panel, whether you use one layers panel for all the artboards or if the layers panel is duplicated so there is one for each artboard.

I don't really understand your problem, but I've had headaches with managing a GUI before (as many programmers have, I'm sure).
My best advice, if the scheme your using to build and manage a GUI is too confusing for you, the programmer, to easily understand/manage, change the scheme. Even if this means recoding a good deal of your program (though, hopefully, you've kept the GUI as seperate from your functional code as possible) it should be worth it.
Perhaps a clearer explination of your problem would help better illustrate your problem?

  • What means the nomber of starts/stops?

I bought my ipod classic about a couple of weeks ago. I bought it in a shop, so it was new. But on the second day of using i have done the S.M.A.R.T disk test and it showed the 32 nomber of reallocs. I decided, that it's a kind of a software mistake, becouse it works very good. But there is another problem - hard drive has 1253 start/stops with just 11 poweron hours. all smartData looks like this
    retracts:0
    reallocs:32
    Pending sectors:0
    start/stops:1253
    Temp: current 25C
    Temp: min 20C
    Temp: max 52C
Please tell me how bad is it and what can I do with this?

when i close window with multiple tabs and start new session (open new window) old tabs open again, how can i stop it?

It is possible that there is a problem with the files [http://kb.mozillazine.org/sessionstore.js sessionstore.js] and sessionstore.bak in the [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox Profile Folder]
Delete [http://kb.mozillazine.org/sessionstore.js sessionstore.js] and sessionstore.bak in the [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox Profile Folder]
    * Help > Troubleshooting Information > Profile Directory: Open Containing Folder
If you see files sessionstore-##.js with a number in the left part of the name like sessionstore-1.js then delete those as well.
Deleting sessionstore.js will cause App Tabs and Tab Groups to get lost, so you will have to create them again (make a note).

  • Timesheet formulas in numbers '09 with multiple Start/Stop columns

    Hi there you amazing people
I am creating a timesheet which will have the date, start time, stop time but also 3/4 start/stop times for breaks.
I would like to have formulas that allow me to enter as many or as little info as I need (sometimes there are no breaks and sometimes there will be several) and still give me total hours works in that day.
Apoliges if my quiery isn't clear or this has been answered before, I have had a good look!

    Hi Lil,
Numbers '09 will think for you. Start with an empty table with one Header Row and enter the headings for your work day:
In Cell A2, enter the Start Time as 8 am (not 8am)
In Cell B2, enter Morning Coffee as 15 m (not 15m)
    In Cell C2, Lunch is 1 h (not 1h)
In Cell D2, Afternoon Tea is 15 m (not 15m)
In Cell E2, Stop Time is 5 pm (not 5pm)
Please note the spaces (for example, 8 am, not 8am) then the cells will automatically format as Date-and-Time or Duration.
Formula in F2 (and copy down) is
    =E2-A2-B2-C2-D2
Tip: When you enter a Time, it carries a Date with it. The Date-and-Time format in Numbers is exactly that. A Date and a Time from 1 January 1904 (the starting date that Apple uses as the base date).
Call back if this does not help.
    Regards,
    Ian
