Db verify utility help

Hi
how to use dbv utility for all the files in the database at a time.
Edited by: user10893424 on Jun 29, 2009 2:45 AM

Dear user!
If you want to use dbv then you have to execute one dbv command for each datafile you need to check.
dbv FILE=datafile_1.dbf FEEDBACK=100
dbv FILE=datafile_2.dbf FEEDBACK=100And so on.
If it is OK for you to not use dbv and instead of that use RMAN then it is much more easier to check the whole database with only one command.
BACKUP VALIDATE CHECK LOGICAL database; This command will not create a backup of your database but it will check all the datafiles of your database in one single step. If there are corrupt blocks within your database then they will be reported in V$DATABASE_BLOCK_CORRUPTION.
If you have Oracle Enterprise Edition you can repair blocks that are listed in V$DATABASE_BLOCK_CORRUPTION with the RMAN command:
BLOCKRECOVER CORRUPTION LIST;This recommends that your database is in ARCHIVELOG mode and you have all the necessary archivelogs for this operation.
If you have Oracle Standard Edition only you can also use V$DATABASE_BLOCK_CORRUPTION but you have to recover the whole datafile.
Yours sincerely
Florian W.

  • Drive Utility Help Viewer "does not know how to handle selected URL"

I have Drive Utility 10.5.6, according to . I'm trying to reformat a FAT32 partition on an external drive to Mac OS X Ext. Journaled in preparation for using SuperDuper to back up my Mac HD boot partition. For a time, which seems to have passed, now that erasing the partition has been done. The Disk Utility Help wouldn't work. Instead of putting up topic information, I got a message saying "Help Viewer does not know how to handle selected URL", followed by an reference to an html file that allegedly existed inside a set of folders inside the app. Where, of course, Finder cannot see. Once the erasing was done, Help seems to have come back. I tried Apple Support, but could only get a reference to OS 9 Appleworks macros not working in OS X. No help at all. Is this a question? I don't know. Help is working now. But for a while it was very annoying. It must be one of those little windows glitches that no one ever bothered to fix.

In order to change a FAT or NTFS formatted drive for use with OS X you will need to do the following:
    Extended Hard Drive Preparation
    1. Open Disk Utility in your Utilities folder.
    2. After DU loads select your hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
    3. Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID (for Intel Macs) or APM (for PPC Macs) then click on the OK button. Click on the Partition button and wait until the process has completed.
    4. Select the volume you just created (this is the sub-entry under the drive entry) from the left side list. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
    5. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Options button, check the button for Zero Data and click on OK to return to the Erase window.
    6. Click on the Erase button. The format process can take up to several hours depending upon the drive size.
If you have an Intel Mac and can partition the drive using GUID then you can have FAT32 and OS X partitions on the same drive.
As for problems with the Help viewer see:
In most cases doing the following will restore the Help Viewer:
    1. Trash the following three files, if extant:
    /Home/Library/Preferences/com.apple.help.plist
    /Home/Library/Preferences/com.apple.helpui.plist
    /Home/Library/Preferences/com.apple.helpviewer.plist
    2. Trash the /Home/Library/Caches/com.apple.helpui folder.
    3. Empty the Trash and Restart.
Visit The XLab FAQs and read the FAQ on the Help Viewer for additional suggestions.

  • Replication of utility/helper classes in JAR/WAR.

    Hello folks,
I have recently learned the class loader hierarchy that is employed in
the WebLogic server. Previously, I was including the local component
interfaces of my EJBs in the EJB JAR file as well as the web
application WAR file. However, since the EJB class loader is the
superclass of the WAR class loaders, the WAR class loader can see all
classes in its level as well as the level above it (the EJB class
loader and system class loader). Therefore, I removed the Local
component interfaces from the WAR file, and the system works fine.
However, I have various utility/helper classes that are in the EJB JAR
file as well as the WAR file. Is it safe to remove them from the WAR
file? Is there any need to duplicate classes in the JAR/WAR file if
they are packaged together as an EAR file? Any input is highly
    appreciated.

No, your helper classes will also be visible to the war class loader.
You might also consider packaging your helper classes in a separate jar
file. Then add a manifest class-path entry in your ejb.jar and your
web.war that references the utility jar file(s). This should work on
    any J2EE server.

I setting my Apple ID already, bud can't sign in for verify it help me please for verify it

Here's an updated set of instructions you can try:
Make sure you are signed into iMessage and FaceTime with your current ID.  If they are signed into the old ID, go to Settings>Messages>Send & Receive and Settings>FaceTime, tap the ID, sign out, then sign back in with your current ID.
Then temporarily recreate the old ID by going to https://appleid.apple.com, click Manage my Apple ID and sign in with your current iCloud ID.  Click edit next to the primary email account, change it back to your old email address and save the change.  (You should not have to verify the old email account so it doesn’t matter if you no longer have access to it.)  Now go to Settings>iCloud, turn off Find My iDevice and enter your current password when prompted (even though it prompts you for the password for your old ID).  Then save any photo stream photos that you wish to keep to your camera roll (unless using iCloud Photo Library).  When finished go to Settings>iCloud, tap Sign Out (or Delete Account if you are not running iOS 8) and choose Delete from My iDevice when prompted (your iCloud data will still be in iCloud).  Next, go back to https://appleid.apple.com and change your primary email address back to the way it was.  Now you can go to Settings>iCloud and sign back in with your current iCloud ID and password (your data will download back to your device).

    <Email Edited by Host>

As these are public forums, you're not talking to iTunes Support,  I've asked the hosts to remove your email address from your post - it's not a good idea to post it unless you like spam email.
The reset link will only show if you have a rescue email address on your account - a rescue email address is not the same as an alternate/secondary email address, they are different addresses/settings on an account.
If you don't have a rescue email address (you won't be able to add one until you can answer 2 of your questions) then you won't get the reset option - you will need to contact iTunes Support / Apple to get the questions reset.
Contacting Apple about account security : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5699
When they've been reset you can then use the steps half-way down the page that you posted from to add a rescue email address for potential future use

  • Frustrated - the publisher could not be verified error - help!

I am really frustrated trying to get this to work - here's what I did -
Everything was running fine with 8.2.1. with my iphone - no problems.
I decided to upgrade using the program auto updater. Tried many times but kept getting an error and it stopped the download.
So I thought I'll just uninstall everything and start again. I uninstalled itunes and quicktime. I uninstalled bonjour. All folders are gone. The only thing I left on there was the iPhone configuration utility, so not sure if that makes a difference. I've tried the options they suggest online. But I keep getting the warning, "the publisher cold not be verified do I want to run it" .. and when I hit RUN, nothing happens. I've also tried to take the itunessetup filed and right click, running as administrator. Sill no luck.
    What else can I do?
I even went to an oldapps site to download the version that was working but it doesn't load now either. Appreciate any help!

Okay, I finally got it to work. I uninstalled Norton anti-virus protection (which was not turned on anyway). Then windows installed service pack 2 tonight, then I re-downloaded the itunes installer file again. Clicked on it, and the warning came up again and I said to still run the file like I always had. For some reason this time it actually started and it's now installed. Everything appears to be working normally.

  • Confused - Mail - Disk Utility - HELP

Mail is slow to respond or will not respond at all leading to a forever spinning ball. Attempted to find an answer in mail thread. Was lead to Disk Utility. I do not understand this at all. Used Verify Disk, it states Invalid node structure The volume Macintosh HD needs to be repaired. Error: The underlying task reported failure on exit. Repair disk is greyed out. I started up from disk. Repair disk is still grey. Other person who was trying to help become obviously frustrated with me and said they give up and to get help elsewhere. Please help.

    Hi Cherryblossom,
Let's take this one problem at a time and the most important after reading your post is your internal disk. When you say you, "started up from disk", do you mean you started up from your Tiger restore disk? You're running 10.4.9, on a PBookG4 so you must have the Tiger disk. Running Disk Utility from the Applications/Utility folder on the drive can't repair the hard drive. Only booting from the system restore disk (Tiger in this case) can do the job.
If Disk Utility can repair the hard drive here is how to do that.
Make sure your PBook is shut down. Now, while holding down the C key, press the power button and insert the system disk all at the same time. You can let go of the C key when you see the Apple logo on the screen. Now, an Installer window will open by default. Quit the Installer from the Menu and instead click Utilities in the Menu, then click Disk Utility. When Disk Utility opens, select MacintoshHD in the panel on the left. Then click the Verify button. DU will scan the drive, report errors if any. Then the Repair button should be available at this point. If DU reports errors, click the Repair button. Disk Utility will advise one way or the other if it can repair the disk. If it can't, your options are this. You can purchase a great disk repair such as DiskWarrior from www.alsoft.com, OR, locate an Apple store or Apple reseller in your area.
As for Mail. Try this: Locate this file: com.apple.mail.plist
it's located here: MacintoshHD/Users/YourName/Library/Preferences. Open the Preferences folder, locate that file and drag it to the Trash. Now, try to launch and use Mail and see if it cooperates. You will have to reset your Mail/Preferences but if this works, it's minor in comparison to dealing with the spinning ball.
I sure hope something helps and you can always Reply for more help.

  • Disc utility help! USB shown there but not on finder!

    Hi!
I cannot access the information on my USB drive as it does not show on Finder (Macbook Pro with Retina Display - Late 2013).
I am using the 32GB SanDisk Cruzer Edge with some important documents that I would like to retrieve.
But then I found out that the disc was recognized on disc utility.
HOWEVER in my situation, I was unable to first aid the disk as the buttons 'verify disk' and 'repair disk' were all grey.
I tried to unmount the usb but it says that it couldn't until I 'first aid' the disk...
Any suggestions to how I can fix this?!!
    PLS HELP!!!

What are the settings in Finder Preferences?
    Ciao.

  • Western Digital drive not showing up in disk utility--Help please.

Hello all. This is my first post. I am having trouble with my WD 500GB external hard drive. It is not showing up in disk utility when connected either via the firewire or USB ports. I purchased the drive about 8months ago, brought it home and set it up as my Time Machine backup drive. It worked great for several months, until it got full. Then it stopped showing up on the desktop for no apparent reason. I discovered through reading support documents on the Apple web site that when I set the drive up initially I should have changed the partitioning protocol from master boot record to GUID, but I did not. I followed the apple web site instructions for making the change expos facto, but was instructed to press buttons that were "grayed out". As such, I couldn't do it. Perhaps foolishly, I thought that I would just start all over by reinitializing it, formatting it correctly (with my new found knowledge) and then do the time machine backup fresh. However, the drive no longer shows up in disk utility no matter how or in what order I connect it. When the drive is connected by firewire there is evidence of some recognition of the drive in system profiler, but it is listed as "External HDD Buttons and Lights". There is also evidence of the My Book showing up at a minimal level (eg. the firmware revision and a few other details are listed). On the front of the drive is a ring of blue lights that progress in a clockwise direction as soon as a connection is made via either firewire or USB. Before that it is solid blue. I have read through all the info that I can find on this site, and all the suggestions require the drive being recognized in disk utility. Without that, I am stuck. I know this must be a solvable problem, because the drive just a bucket of parts before it was manufactured. I just don't know enough to solve the problem or even know what qeustion to ask. I would really appreciate some help. Thanks in advance, and sorry for the long post.

If you can't boot from an OSX DVD, it sounds bad. Yet I think you said you were running Disk Utility from the DVD?
I got an external Firewire drive enclosure for 2.5 inch IDE drives from Other World Computing (OWC)
http://eshop.macsales.com/item/Other%20World%20Computing/MOTGFW400/ but similar items are available from many vendors like Newegg. About $60 for the basic model. More money can buy additional interfaces on the enclosure like FW800 and USB2; an AC adapter instead of letting the firewire bus power the drive (usually OK).

  • "revert" deleted hard drive name in disk utility HELP!!

I booted my wifes macbook pro 10.4.11 in target mode and connected it to my computer, macbook pro 10.5.6 and went into my disk utility to create a partition in the other computer. I used my disk utility from 10.5.6 because for some reason it got erased from the 10.4.11
so I started to do 2 partitions. It said there was not enough room so I clicked on "revert" and for some reason the name of the "macintosh hd" disappeared and I ejected the computer in target mode. Then when I tried to start it up, it just kept flashing a folder with a question mark. I booted again in target mode but still no "indented" "macintosh hd". it seems like it came unmounted maybe?
I have tried starting from x key, resetting pram, trying to load from install disc (which gets to the point where it asks where to install the OS and no HD shows up to choose) and even taking it to the apple store where they said the HD is damaged and/or corrupt. Before trying to reclaim the files, if I can, I wanted to see if anyone had this same issue and if it was solvable. I cant believe that I hit "revert" and it erased my hard drive name and it automatically made my HD corrupt or damaged?
    PLEASE help anyone!
or if this is a lost cause, is there a good file recovery program where I can get my WIFES files back! Yeah, I am in trouble.
    Thanks!

If anything can be recovered at all, you should quit using the computer asap. The more you use it the more OSX will write over those spots where the files were.
    Data Rescue II...
    http://www.prosofteng.com/products/data_rescue.php
(Has a Free Demo to see if it could or not, but you'll need another drive to recover to).
    Or FileSalvage...
    http://www.subrosasoft.com/OSXSoftware/index.php?%20mainpage=product_info&productsid=1
    to recover what you can.
BUT, you'll need that other Mac with this one in FW Target Mode
BTW, don't use Leopards Disk Utility to do anything to a Tiger Hard Drive.
