DB2 Connect or Data Server Drivers

Can we use anything other than DB2 connect such as Data Server Drivers from IBM to be able to connect to the databases on mainframe?

Whereas he's using Coldfusion, I am using Ruby on Rails so I choose HTTP from Select Service Type.
When I bind the data to the list, and select new service call, the values are student_requests for Service and index(search : Object): Student_requests for Operation. I click ok and it generates this code:

Then I run the application and rather than returning the data set, it returns: [object Student_requests]
Note that when I went to configure the return type and entered a complete URL:
http://localhost:3000/student_requests.xml
It gave me error message and said "The response is not a valid XML"
So I pasted the xml:

Can I specify e4x when using CallResponder?

DB2 Connect installation for more as one application-server...

Greetings,
We've installed SAP 4.6D and migrated to ECC 6.0...
also migrated from ICLI to DB2 Connect.
We've 4 application server's on Win2k3.
What's the perfect, with best performance - installation from DB2 Connect ?
DB2 Connect on every appication server or on central instance server (connect-mode: server client) ?
I'm not found tips or document's on SAP Notes (description installation procedure for <b>more as one</b> SAP application server's).

Hay Markus,
You have the classic tradeoff here: like Thomas mentioned installing a DB2 connect on every server reduce latency but give you more work on an upgrade or definition change, installing just one DB2 connect is easier and more secure but have an inherent performance leg.
Id recommend installing on all servers with a shared parameter file or write a distribution script to distribute the file to all severs from a central location.

Error while creating data server to connect into Hyperion Financial Manag.

I need some help in the follow issue:
I imported the technologie HFM (hyperion financial management) and it`s now displayed normally in the Physical and Logical architecture.
The drivers imported are: HFMdriver.dll
log4j-1.2.8.jar
odi_hfm.jar
odihapp_common.jar
And also imported the KMs about HFM.
Everything doing fine but when i try to create a data server into Physical Architecture, and went to test it, two different errors are shown (below).
i've already read many documentations but they didn't help.
I have ODI 10.1.3.4.0 and the hyperion server is working fine.
ODI server, my ODI client and HFM are located in the local machine.
In the "Topology manager" in "Physical Architecture" under the "Hyperion Financial Management" I try to create "Data Server" and in the definition tab I filled "Name", "Server" (without port), "User", "Password".
In the JDBC tab I did nothing.
I go test and the errors appears.
In the physical schema in the definition tab I cannot fill the items "Application (Catalog)", "Application (Work catalog)" because they don`t have any option and i let them "undefined"
When i select "Local (no agent)",receive the error:

Thanks for the answer but i'm still not able to connect to HFM.
I am getting an error while trying to reverse engineer (this errors is shown at Agent): error ocurred in driver while connecting to HFM [<undefined>] on [apphyp] using user-name [sql_hyp].
Caused by: com.hyperion.odi.hfm.wrapper.HFMexception: opening HFM application failed. Error code: 0x80046053 [This application is not registered with Hyperion Shared Services. Please contact your administrator]
You told me that it`s normal the error when i try to test the data server but both Application (catalog) and Application (Work) stay <undefined> and nothing can be select in that section. I guess this should be completed with my existing applications ate HFM.
Probably, the error mentioned happens because this item "Application" isn`t correct.
What am i missing?

Using INET and DATADIRECT JDBC Drivers to connect MS SQL Server 2005

I have reqmt to connect SQL server 2005 from ODI using INET and DATADIRECT JDBC drivers to test Local characters Encoding.
In my case, Oracle is the Source and SQL Server 2005 is the Target. I have problem while interfacing Local Characters to SQL Server 2005 using com.microsoft.sqlserver.jdbc.SQLServerDriver driver( which is default driver provided by ODI). To fix local charatcters issue, I want to try using INET or DATADIRECT JDBC drivers. Please provide me the below of any one has used these Drivers to connect SQL Server 2005 from ODI.
We are trying to connect to MS SQL Server 2005 from ODI Topology Mgr using INET and DATADIRECT JDBC Drivers. We need the following info to connect to the same,
--> What are list of the drivers need to be placed in OraHome_1\oracledi\drivers path?
--> Where can i get the latest driver versions.
--> What are the JDBC DRIVER and URL formats.
--> Any other additional configurations?
--> Does these drivers support interfacing of Local character data.

DB2 Connect Server appear after Migrating DB2 from v8.2 to v9.5

I migrated the database software of SAP ECC 5.0 System from DB2 v8 fixpak 17 to DB2 v9.5 fix pack 4. After I installed the SAP DB2 licenses, I noticed that a new product "DB2 Connect Server" remained in 'Trail' status.
Product name:                     "DB2 Connect Server"
License type:                     "Trial"
Expiry date:                      "01/02/2010"
Product identifier:               "db2consv"
Version information:              "9.5"
I did not select this product during the installation of Enterprise Server Edition.
Do I need to remove the product "DB2 Connect Server"?
Is there any problem with let the product "DB2 Connect Server" expired?
Will the following command remove the product?
db2licm -r db2consv

DB2 Connect Server is independent component whose purpose is to connect applications to data.
DB2 Connect provides connectivity to mainframe and midrange databases from Linux, UNIX, and Windows based platforms. You can connect to DB2® databases on OS/390 and z/OS, iSeries, VSE, and VM. You can also connect to non-IBM databases that comply with the Distributed Relational Database Architectureu2122 (DRDA®).
If you are not having any scenarios (in you system landscape) to use DB2 server/client Connectivity to mainframe/mid-range databases, then you can remove that product by executing db2licm -r db2consv
If your DB2 connect Server license is already expired, and you are not able to remove it, then following workaround will be helpful.
Workaround may be:
1. db2stop
2. Adjust your system clock at some point in past when this license was still trial.
3. db2licm -r db2consv

Sharepoint list dataheet view error "Cannot connect to the server at this time. You can continue working with this list, but some data may not be available"

I have a List which is having around 14000 items in it.while opening that list in datasheet view it is giving error .
Below is a summary of the issue:
After selecting datasheet view beow error occurs:
    "Cannot connect to the server at this time. You can continue working with this list, but some data may not be available."
    "Unable to retrieve all data."
    The item counts displays say 100 out of 14000 items.
Exporting List to excel is giving only 2000 records out of 14000 records.
Other Observations   -
This is happening to only one list on the site .There are other lists in the site whose no. of records is equal to 8000 to 9000.They are working absolutely fine without any error.
Also, If I am saving this list as a template and creating another list with it ,then it is working absolutely fine with 14000 records,so the issue does not seem to be related with no. of records as the template list is working fine.
I have checked the Alternate access mapping setting ,its fine.
It should not be related to lookup,datefield or any other column as the list created from it template is working fine with all these columns.
I checked below links also ,but doesn't seem to work in my case.

I have spent two days to resolve this issue. Microsoft has released two KBs with reference to this issue...but are not appearing in search results at the top.
I am sharing my finding.
1. First install the
KB2552989 (Hopefully you might have already installed it. The KB detetcts it and informs the user.)
2. Then update registry by adding new key for data fetch timeout as mentioned inKB2553007
These two steps resolved the issue in our environment. Hope it might help others as well.

Unable to connect to the server to pull data from mysql

I am novice working with Flash Builder 4 and I just created a test application which runs well in my computer pulling data from Mysql using PHP and populating a datagrid. But when I transfered it to the my hosting provider failed. I have been doing some modifications to the gateway.php and amf.config.ini to solve some of the issues. Now the application try to run but doesn't populate the data in the datagrid. I included a tracking point in my data service file to read the connections variables, but they come up in blank. Thank you for you prompt response. Yes, I have changed the connections variables in my dataservice ( I didn't post real values). You are right, after all I didn't make changes on the gateway.php except to add some tracking points. The one that I changed is the amf.config,ini. The application runs without any error exceptions, but don't populate the datagrid. According with the tracing is stoping just when establishing the connection to the database. Please let me know if you have any other clue. thanks

I am trying to connect to a Odata Data feed from Excel 2013 Power Pivot

Can't save BISM file pointing to excel sheet (data source). ErrMsg: "There were errors found while validating the page: Cannot connect to the server or database."

Me and a collegue is administrering our new enterprise BI portal in SharePoint 2013 (On Premise) and have a problem with using a specific Excel file including general ledger data as data source through a BISM file.
This particular BISM file can't be saved without getting the error message "There were errors found while validating the page: Cannot connect to the server or database."
BISM files against other Excel sheets and sources (for example SSAS tabular databases) works well.
Can anyone help us pinpointing whats wrong here, this is a really important stakeholder in our organization requesting this reporting?

Can't remotely connect to my server if I automatically set date and time

Hello.
I have configured my OS X 10.6.2 server and am able to remotely manage it.
The only ports I have opened on my router is for Mail and VPN services.
Things work perfectly because I can connect using VPN to iChat, iCal, Address Book, Server Admin, Workgroup Manager, AFP, FTP and such.
The problem is that on my laptop from home, or wherever, if its time is set to update automatically from an NTP server (I have tried with Apple's as well as my server for the NTP Servers) then I cannot connect to my server at all...
The moment I turn off the auto date and time and reconnect to the office's VPN, I am able to use Server Admin, AFP, FTP, Workgroup Manager, Screen Sharing, etc, etc, etc.
It's utterly frustrating because I have to open system preferences, disable the automatic date and time update, connect to the VPN and do stuff on the server. Then I have to disconnect from VPN and re enable the auto date and time.
Could someone explain why this is happening and any possible solutions I might be able to try?

OK, after some testing things seem to be working now.
I opened the NTP port for my server (So I don't have to be on VPN to update the time)....But regardless of that, Server admin and my corporate site work fine.
Here is my problem, I don't understand why it's working now when 30 minutes ago I was having trouble connecting to my server regardless of what NTP Server I used.
The only service I can't access is Workgroup Manager, but I don't know if that is supposed to be accessible only locally (though it doesn't matter since I can screen share but I would still like to know).

Can't Create a Data Source - Failed to test connection. [DBNETLIB][ConnectionOpen (Connect()).]SQL Server does not exist or access denied

Hi there,
I am having a serious issue with The Power BI Data Management Gateway which I am hoping that someone can help me with.
Basically I am setting a connection between a Power BI demo site and a SQL 2012 Database based on Azure. The Data Management Gateway and is up and running, and Power BI has managed to connect to it successfuly.
By following the tutorials at
here I was able to successful create my Data Connection Gateway with a self-signed certificate.
However, when trying to create the data source I come into problems. The Data Source Manager manages to successfully resolve the hostname, as per the screenshot below:
Bear in mind that I exposed the require ports in Azure as endpoints and I managed to modify my hosts file on my local machine so I could access the SQL server hosted in Azure using its internal name -- otherwise I would not be able to get this far.
However the creation of the data source also fails when trying to created it whilst logged in the SQL server in question:
The Data Source Manager returns the error when using the Microsoft OLE DB Provider for SQL Server:
Failed to test connection. [DBNETLIB][ConnectionOpen (Connect()).]SQL Server does not exist or access denied
I tried using the SQL Server Native Client 11.0 instead but I also get an error. This time the error is:
Failed to test connection. Login timeout expiredA network-related or instance-specific error has occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server. Server is not found or not accessible. Check if instance name is correct and if SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections. For more information see SQL Server Books Online.Named Pipes Provider: Could not open a connection to SQL Server [53].
Some considerations
If I provide an invalid username/password, the Data Source Manager does say that the username and password is incorrect.
Firewall is turned off in the SQL Server (either way, this error also happens if I try top use the Data Source Manager whilst logged in the SQL Server itself).
SQL Profiler does not show any attempt of connection.
The SQL server instance in question is the default one.
The error happens regardless if I select the option to encrypt connection or not.
In SQL Configuration manager I can see that all protocols are enabled (TCP/IP, Named Pipes and Shared Memory.
The Event Viewer does not provide any further errors than the one I have copied in this post.
I'm at a loss here. Could someone please advise what might I be doing wrong?

Here is what I had to do to solve this issue:
Basically I had to add the MSSQL TCP/IP port as an end-point in Azure. After I did that, then I was able to create the data-source. However, I was only able to authenticate with a SQL account, as any domain account would return me an error saying that the
domain isn't trusted.
What puzzles me here is how come the Data Source Manager would inform me that an account username/password was invalid, but it would fail/timeout if I provided valid credentials (!?!?!!?)

Having trouble connecting to your up-date server, I can't.

Have been trying for weeks to install your up-date that was sent to me and suggested to install. Problem is three fold:
1- I can not get past the pop up screen that states Downloading Firefox and connecting to Firefox server, green bar just keeps running back and forth, it will never connect. And reminder pop-up comes on every time I restart my computer and try to install it every time, with the same results, it just keeps running.
2- I also get Alerts from my Norton System that state " High Disc usage by Firefox.
3- I get lots of not responding messages and delays on Firefox
I'm sure all are related, but I'm computer stupid and don't know what to do.

If there are problems with updating then best is to download the full version and uninstall the currently installed version.
Download a fresh Firefox copy and save the file to the desktop.
* Firefox 4.0.x: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all.html
* Uninstall your current Firefox version.
* Do not remove personal data when you uninstall the current version.
Remove the Firefox program folder before installing that newly downloaded copy of the Firefox installer.
* It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.
Your bookmarks and other profile data are stored elsewhere in the [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox Firefox Profile Folder] and won't be affected by a reinstall, but make sure that you do not select to remove personal data if you uninstall Firefox.
