DBA Question User Deletion

If I delete a User from the Database, will it also delete (Automatically) all the Tables, Views, etc associated with the user?
If it does not delete the tables, etc what would be the best tool to use such that I get rid of all the objects under the User.
FYI, I am using Oracle 8.1.7

If I delete a User from the Database, will it also delete (Automatically) all the Tables, Views, etc associated with the user?Yes it will but you need use "cascade" clause.
So command should look:
drop user <username> cascade;

  • DBA Question - User stats

    Greetings,
So I am sitting at my desk when PHB (that's Pointy Haired Boss for the non-Dilbert people out there) comes in and asks - "so is anyone really using that database they told us to set up?"
"Uhh, gee, I don't know. I haven't gotten any phone calls..."
So, I pull out the books, only to discover that I have no clue how to ask the database for historical informatio like is anyone actually using the database.
So, can anyone help me out - what tables store that sort of information - such as logins, number of requests etc? Anyone have a quick SQL script that will pull that sort of information. I am not interested in the "database" just the user tables.
    Thanks,

    "DBA? I can spell Oracle..."

For table access and logins, you can enable auditing. To activate auditing at the database level, you need to set the AUDIT_TRAIL init.ora parameter (set it to DB). This allows the database to audit. Then you need to turn on auditing for the objects you want to audit (logins included). Be carefull, auditing has overhead associated with it. Audit the smallest amount to achieve your goals.
As far as activity is concerned. Oracle does not generate historical information about activity. It does have a cumulative table, V$SYSSTAT, which stores some usefull information. You can query this table to get some of your information. You may want to query V$SESSION periodically and store the output in a file. You can see how much activity is occuring, say, every 30 minutes.
    e.g. Select count(*)
    From v$session
    where status = 'ACTIVE';
    This may help some.

  • Question on LDAP integration & user deletion

In the "Administration Console Help" Document it states:
"You cannot invite user accounts that are mastered in an LDAP-based user directory; these accounts are created automatically when you synchronize the LDAP directory."
Does this mean that after configuring a LDAP Realm, the users specified by the filter should be automatically pulled into OnTrack? I do not see ldap users when executing a blank search from the admin console. At this point, I also cannot log into OnTrack using a valid LDAP user. I was trying to see if OnTrack worked similar to UCM where the OnTrack user acct would be created once the user logs into the application.
What I can do is go to "Create User" and enter the email address for a valid ldap user. then I see that user in the full search. that user can also log in successfully.
I wanted to know what the expected behavior was: is there expected to be a required 'registry' of ldap users into ontrack before they can auth into the app? Is there some sync process that needs to be run to pull in the ldap users?
Also, is there any current best practice of user deletion? I see in the admin console that there is a note that states: "Note: User deletion is not supported."
As always, thanks for the info!
    Thanks,

    Ryan,
It sounds like you figured this out.
There is NOT an explicit sync of users from LDAP into On Track. The On Track user object is created when the LDAP user first logs in (or when added to a Conversation by another user). After that point, the user will be visible in the admin console. (Note, however, that from the client, you can search for an LDAP user and add them to a Conversation's membership even if that user has not yet logged in to On Track. It does this by searching for the user in the LDAP directory, as well as in On Track's known users. This is a great way to "invite" other people in the organization to participate in On Track.
    As for your other questions:
    - The recommended way to "delete" a user is to mark the user "Disabled" in On Track. This will prevent that user from logging in and from showing up as a valid user in the client.
    - Once a user "[email protected]" exists, it should not be possible to create another "[email protected]" user, even if the first one is disabled, and regardless of which realm those users are in.

  • User deletes Installed Application / Directory

Can anyone help me? I have browsed through earlier threads but could not find an answer to my question.
My question is "What if the user plays around with the client(deletes the installed directory or removes or moves a few or all files) that is transparently installed on his PC?"
All documents talk about changing of JARS at the server but what about user manipulating at his end(Client end).
    Please help me ASAP.
    Thanking you in advance.

    >>
"Since JWS doesn't "install" any applications (it only caches the jar files for efficiency), this should have no real influence on the user's ability to run the app (of course, the application jar files will have to be loaded again if the JWS client can't find them). "
    >>
You are right in saying that JWS does not install any applications and it only caches JAR's. But my question was WHAT IF the user deletes the JAR's. In that case what happens when the user clicks on the desktop icon(created earlier)? Will he get an error? Or will he have to realunch the application again from browser by calling the JNLP URL? or by clicking on the desktop icon, JWS seamlessly calls the JNLP, caches again and runs the applicaiton transparently to the user?
    Please calrify.
Thanking you all once again in advance.

  • Question about delete statement

I have question about delete statement...
i am performing some simple delete statement against one table..but its taking so long..How can we check whether particular delete statements actually deleting records or not..?

Is the associated select-statement returning rows or not?
If yes -> delete is deleting
If no -> delete is just using CPU-cycles
To tune the delete-statement, you have to tune the corresponding select-statement. To tune the select-statement, you want to read the thread When your query takes too long ...

  • Ymail user deletes appointment sent by Outlook 2010 user

    Hello,
An Outlook 2010 user sent an appointment to about 20 individuals, some gmail, some ymail, some exchange users.  The ymail user deleted the appointment from their calendar because
they could not attend, and the deletion removed the appointment from the originating user (Exchange/outlook 2010) calendar, and automatically sent cancellation notices to all of the other users.
What is going on here?  Thanks in advance,

    Hello,
Normally, the recipient will not delete appointment from the organizer's calendar.
Please make sure you use exchange version. If you use exchange 2010/2013, I recommend you use Get-MailboxFolderPermission -Identity the organizer's SMTP Address:\calendar | fl cmdlet to level permissions for a folder.
Besides, please check if the issue occurs when other users( such as gmail users or exchange users) delete appointment.

  • Stickies question - finding deleted Sticky on Ext. HD

    Hi,
Stickies question - finding deleted Sticky on Ext. HD:
I have an iMac. I deleted a sticky awhile ago on it... and have never backed up on my External Hard Drive since then - so the text must be on the backup. Does anyone know where it would be? I had backed up the entire Home folder on my Ext. HD. I do see in Library - Stickies Database - but don't know how to open it (it won't open without an application).
Is there a possibility I can still find the missing info?
    Thanks in advance.

    Yes, very good questions!
    Quit Stickies.
I'd right click on the one you have now & choose Archive/Compress, move the resulting .zip file to a safe place, or just move the present one to say the Desktop for now.
Once you quit Stickies again, move the old DB in, you can copy that Sticky & paste even in Text Edit, then move the present one back, or unzip the original & replace while Stickies is Quit of course.

  • 11gR2 problem for dba group user

    Hi Pavan Sir,
After the 11gR2 Installation and connect to oracle as one of the dba group user(ex: tuser)
    1) when sqlplus / as sysdba --> startup nomount --> receiving the error ORA-48189 (The OS command to create directory failed) for the diagnostic_dest(ex: /disk1/oradata/test)location, but the specified directory is created and owned by the same dba group user(test).
    2) If suppose the "/disk1/oradata/test" directory permission are modified by 777, the dba group user(test) can connect to nomount stage, but the sub directories of diagnostic_dest automatically gets created (like /disk1/oradata/test/diag/rdbms then etc......) are being owned by oracle user and also if the db is created ,the control file, redolog file and datafiles are automatically getting owned by oracle user but not by the test user.
Which was not the case till 10gR2.
Plz. provide any body provide us with some solution to overcome the above experienced problem which is implemented in our Dev. box.
    Thanks in Advance.
    Best regards,
    Habeeb.

    Dear user,
Even if the perm are changed by -R ,the files are automatically owned by oracle user, not by the test user.
Have any body tried creating oracle database using dba group user in 11gR2, but the db files being created by test user should not be automatically owned by oracle user. If so , plz. forward me the steps.
    Thanx in advance.

    Posted Wrong question. Deleted it

You're late to the game, my friend... The news was posted two weeks ago! If you're only going to update your OS every couple of weeks, maybe Arch isn't for you. Why would you want to use a bleeding edge distribution then? Bragging rights? Maybe you want something like Ubuntu or Debian Stable. Of course, you're gonna get older packages but hey, at least it's stable, right?
You must not have read the FAQ. Specifically:
"1.3 Q) Why would I not want to use Arch?"
"1.10 Q) Is Arch Linux a stable distribution? Will I get frequent breakage?"
If you think an OS should configure itself and run "out-of-the-box", then Arch isn't for you. Arch is a DYI distribution, where you can tailor it after your own heart.
    $ find /lib -exec pacman -Qo -- {} +
^ This command should've told you which programs need removing or reinstalling, and which folders are left behind. If it's just "owned by glibc" or something like that (I don't even remember from two weeks ago), it means that you need to move (don't delete, that's just bad practice) the /lib/modules folder somewhere else and then run 'pacman -Su'.
    # mv /lib/modules ~/lib.modules
    # pacman -Su
Big deal. If you had bothered to search the forum you would've eventually got it.

  • Command-Line question. Delete all but particular folders

Hello. I need to create a batch file that will delete all folders within the "Users" folder except for the Administrator and Administrator.domainname.
    Can anyone help?
    Thanks

You could try something along the lines of
    FOR /F "tokens=*" %%G IN ('DIR /B /A:D c:\test') DO if not "%%G" == "test2" if not "%%G" == "test3" rd /s /q "c:\test\%%G"
but if you do, you may also delete
    c:\Users\Public
    c:\Users\Default         (a hidden folder)
    c:\Users\All Users       (a system folder)
    c:\Users\Default User (a system folder)
Which may be regrettable. If you want an example of what happens then, try reading

  • User deletion Requests in CUP

    Hi Experts,
I have a question regarding CUP 5.3 SP11, I am wondering if you all have had the same scenarios before. We have about 20 systems connected to the CUP. When an employee leaves the company a person in HR usually sends a termination request and they are not usually aware where all does the user exist. When we do a select all for the systems and procede with the request it gives you an error message with the systems in which the user does not exist.
Is there any way to ignore this and process the request to delete the user in the systems in which they exist, so that one does not have to slect the systems manually?
    Regards,
    Chinmaya

    Kumar,
As you know CUP is an ticket creation, user provisioning tool with automated workflow. So CUP will need to bring user details or user information for requestor, approver, manager etc. from some kind of source. This is where data source comes into picture. Whenever you need to search for an user ID, CUP will look at the search data source and whenever CUP needs to bring in user information like name, email, phone etc., CUP will use user details data source.
DO NOT USE JCO IN CUP, ERM AND SPM. You will need to have exactly same connector names in all four modules of AC 5.3 for all of the integration functionality to work. When you use JCo, it will not allow you to change the default name (virsahr_model in your case).
ONE MORE THING, NEVER EVER TOUCH JCo OTHER THAN VIRSAXSR3 EVEN FOR RAR (CC). VIRSAHR AND VIRSAR3 ARE NOT RECOMMENDED TO USE.
    I hope this helps.

    Alpesh

  • CUCM 8.6.2 LDAP User Delete Pending LDAP Sync Status Inactive

    BE6K ver 8.6.2
Client has a user who recently got married.  They changed her account information in Active Directtory to reflect her new last name. At that point CUCM shows her as
    Delete Pending
    LDAP Sync Status Inactive
    CUC shows
    LDAP User has been deleted.
The user still exists in both CUC and CUCM and is actively takign and receiving calls.  User has VM access.
Shorrt of deleting the user in AD and recreating her, is there a way to force this to re-sync?
    Thanks
    Matt

Then that's expected to happen, for all purposes to CUCM/CUC eyes, msmith no longer exists and will be deleted, and a new user mjones now will be imported.
Depending on when the change was done and when CUCM detected this, it might take up to 48 hours maximum to delete the user
You'll need to associate everything to the new user, and also add that new user into CUC.
Or switch back her userID to the old one, and just change the surname for directory purposes.

Create user account with username Guest. You do not need to assign any roles. Assign the user to Anonymous Users group.
#Comma-separated list of guest users that are supported. These users must exist with this unique ids in the user repository. This parameter does only take effect if ume.login.anonymous_user.mode=1
