Dbca - what $OH/rdbms/admin scripts does it run, like catalog.sql etc.

Hi,
I have a database we've been using on Oracle 806. I am using dbca to create it in Oracle v9.2
In our database creation scripts, we run the following oracle admin sql scripts. We may run more, but these are what I've found so far:
catalog.sql
catproc.sql
dbmspool.sql
prvtpool.plb
utlexcpt.sql
Is there a need for me to run these scripts when creating a database using dbca in v9.2, or does dbca run them?
Thanks much
-Bob

Thanks you guys.
I checked the creation scripts, and it ran these:
connect SYS/change_on_install as SYSDBA
set echo on
spool /occ/cots/oracle9i/assistants/dbca/logs/CreateDBCatalog.log
@/occ/cots/oracle9i/rdbms/admin/catalog.sql;
@/occ/cots/oracle9i/rdbms/admin/catexp7.sql;
@/occ/cots/oracle9i/rdbms/admin/catblock.sql;
@/occ/cots/oracle9i/rdbms/admin/catproc.sql;
@/occ/cots/oracle9i/rdbms/admin/catoctk.sql;
@/occ/cots/oracle9i/rdbms/admin/catobtk.sql;
@/occ/cots/oracle9i/rdbms/admin/caths.sql;
@/occ/cots/oracle9i/rdbms/admin/owminst.plb;
connect SYSTEM/manager
@/occ/cots/oracle9i/sqlplus/admin/pupbld.sql;
connect SYSTEM/manager
set echo on
spool /occ/cots/oracle9i/assistants/dbca/logs/sqlPlusHelp.log
@/occ/cots/oracle9i/sqlplus/admin/help/hlpbld.sql helpus.sql;
spool off
spool off
exit;
So, I only need prvtpool.plb, dbmspool.sql, and utlexcpt.sql for my needs.
I need the exceptions table for sure.
And dmbspool.sql for memory efficiency and keeping an eye on object sizes - dbmspool.sql also calls prvtpool.plb, so it's two birds with one stone. So I'm set.
Thanks again all

  • Db creation: what admin scripts should I use (like catalog.sql)

    We're creating databases on an 8.1.7 server.
    What admin scripts are needed to complete a good database creation?
    We're trying to build a nice collection of scripts to do this efficiently, but the only samples I see are from a previous 8.0.5 database
    creation, and they might not be as good as I hope.
    An early step uses catalog.sql to build data dictionary views.
    One of the last steps runs a number of oracle/product/8.1.7/rdbms/admin and sqlplus/admin scripts.
    What admin scripts are needed to complete a good database creation?

    You need to run CATALOG.SQL and CATPROC.SQL

  • Why does quicktime run like crap?

    Why does quicktime run like crap, skips frames like crazy? If I install xvid codecs instead and play the movies in windows media player they play without a glitch. Why is that? I'm must say I'm not impressed with the first apple software I've tried. Also another annoying thing... I don't want iTunes and all the other crap with it! Just quicktime. Also almost all the menu's are blocked with pro upgrade.... do apple customers have to buy quicktime pro as well?

    Impossible to say, "allp", without knowing anything about your system, the version of QT you're running, nor the movies you're trying to play and from what medium you're playing them. QT movies work just fine on my Dell Dimension 8200 (specific specs on request).
    You can download QuickTime alone, without iTunes, here.
    And yes, the menus involved with editing and exporting will almost all be nonfunctional until you buy the Pro upgrade. And it's the same with Macs as with Windows; we all have to purchase the Pro upgrade to get that functionality.

  • Intermittent "Power Shell Script failed to run" after installing SQL MP 6.5.4.0

    We recently installed the SQL MP.  One thing I am struggling with is this "Power Shell Script failed to run" that occasionally comes up, but, not always on the same server, and not always at the same time.
    It says it ran past the configured timeout of 300 seconds.
    The post that seemed to have me on the right track was
    https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/c539a55d-dd48-438f-b7d5-06ed2cecf6e9/powershell-script-failed-to-run-alerts-from-sql-management-pack-6410?forum=operationsmanagergeneral
    However, even after getting one of the several scripts that have been generating the error, out of the extract management pack, it has parameters that need to be fed to it that I have no idea what they are....
    Example.  ActiveRequestsDataSource.ps1 requires $computername, $connectionstring, $tcpport, $sql_wmi_namespace, and $servicename.
    The computername is easy enough...  so is tcpport.  but, the others... not so much.
    I am fairly certain I will be able to run these manually, if I just knew the parameters...  I am also fairly certain we are getting these because at the time of the check, resources on that server are tied up for one reason or another.
    Can someone please help?  This is killing me.

    Hi,
    As this issue happens after you installing SQL MP, so from my point of view, it seems like caused by the runas account for the SQL MP is not configured well, I would like to suggest you follow the article below to configure runas account for the management

    Oracle has no equivalent to onstat - http://www.oninit.com/onstat/
    Oracle also has no knowledge of your 'script' contents.
    As SB mentioned you can get a list of sessions and their identifiers. Then you can query the V$SESSION_LONGOPS system view to get information about long running operations.
    See V$SESSION_LONGOPS in the Database Reference. The same doc (see index) has information about V$SESSION and V$SQL
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/B19306_01/server.102/b14237/dynviews_2092.htm#REFRN30227
    >
    V$SESSION_LONGOPS
    This view displays the status of various operations that run for longer than 6 seconds (in absolute time). These operations currently include many backup and recovery functions, statistics gathering, and query execution, and more operations are added for every Oracle release.
    To monitor query execution progress, you must be using the cost-based optimizer and you must:
    •Set the TIMED_STATISTICS or SQL_TRACE parameter to true
    •Gather statistics for your objects with the ANALYZE statement or the DBMS_STATS package
    You can add information to this view about application-specific long-running operations by using the DBMS_APPLICATION_INFO.SET_SESSION_LONGOPS procedure.

    If you provide more information about what commands are in your script, what the script does and what information you are trying to obtain maybe we can be of more help.

    I believe the top-level script our DBAs run is initjvm.sql. It's usually in <oracle home>\javavm\install. You might want to double-check to make sure this is the only thing you'll need.
    Hope this helps,

  • What exactly are the cron scripts doing?

    Hi,
    Hope the subject says it all: I have searched but not found a detailed explanation as what the cron scripts (daily, weekly, monthly) actually do, and if the utilities (Onyx, Cocktail, Xupport, etc) are doing exactly the same.
    Can someone point to a site or explain?
    TIA
    Dan

    Hi Dan,
    (in addition to Barry's reply)
    Yes,
    1) running the Daily, the Weekly and the Monthly tasks manually with an utility, or
    2) running them yourself with the
    sudo periodic daily
    sudo periodic weekly
    sudo periodic monthly
    Terminal commands
    (or this one: sudo periodic daily weekly monthly), or
    3) leaving your computer running 24/7/365 so that they run automatically,
    all three ways do exactly the same thing.
    --> To see what they do exactly, the best way is to open Console, and in the /var/log section, look for "daily.out", "weekly.out" and "monthly.out".
    What exactly are the "cron scripts" doing?
    (Periodic tasks)
    In Console, you'll find a lot of different files that grow with more and more information every minute, even every second for some of them.
    The three Periodic tasks regularly rearrange them and compresses them so that they don't take too much disk space.
    They also rebuild some system database so that the data never gets unusable by the system.

  • Is there a way to find out what each file in core does?

    I would like to know if there is a way to know what the packages in [core] does (i.e., even during install)? If I re-install, I only want to install the packages that I need. There are some packages that I understand from experience, such as Wifi for wireless and some from experience from other Linux distros as well, but there are other particulars I don't know about. TIA

    run pacman -Qi pkgname for each package you want to learn about. The Description at the bottom should give you enough information for your purposes. You can also see if its required by anything else that's installed.
    You could, of course, write a script that does this for all files in [core], snips out the descriptions, and cats them to a file.

  • Script does not pick up values as intended

    Hi
    I have written a CALC routine where in i want to do the following:
    -If there is any input done for that rate in the month, the routine should do nothing
    - If there is no input in that rate account in the month, it should pick up the previous period data.
    But this IF condition does not work and I have not been able to understand why so.
    Can someone pl tell me what goes wrong in the below script?
    If i remove the IF command the script works (but if then overwrites any input made for the period)
    SUB Exch_Rate_Cf
    'carry forward of composite exchange rates for FA Opening Balances
    IF HS.GETrate("A#Exch_EquCap.I#[ICP None].C3#[NONE].C4#[NONE]") = "0" THEN
         IF HS.PERIOD.MEMBER = "JULY" THEN
    HS.EXP "A#Exch_EquCap.I#[ICP None].C3#[NONE].C4#[NONE] = A#Exch_EquCap.Y#Prior.P#Last.I#[ICP None].C3#[NONE].C4#[NONE]"
    ELSE
    HS.EXP "A#Exch_EquCap.I#[ICP None].C3#[NONE].C4#[NONE] = A#Exch_EquCap.P#Last.I#[ICP None].C3#[NONE].C4#[NONE]"
    END IF
    else
    END IF
    END SUB

    Hi
    I have tried both the approaches.
    "JUL' does not work as we have given JULY as the dimension member name
    The other approach also does not result in any result being calculated --- i think something is going wrong and the script does not go into the IF condition itself :(
