Thank You
AnneI found the problem. Since I added NIST FIPS 140-2 in the database by add a file
$ORACLE_HOME/ldap/admin/fips.ora
SSLFIPS_140=TRUE
This cause the Agent not start. Do you have any suggesting?

Oracle 11g Enterprise Manager Issue -- Cannot run DB & em dbconsole at 1ce
Hi All
I am coming for your help with a query uncommon. I have configured, my oracle 11g database, on windows 32 bit machine. Initially I had set sga_target to enable ASMM expecting Oracle to manage this part. However, upon subsequent restart, DB could never be started with continuous +"ORA-12853 cannot allocate xxxxK blocks to PX"+ stuff.
Reading some content over the net, I've unset SGA_TARGET and turned OFF ASMM and managed to start the db. Now, when I configured the EM on this machine and start it up I am able to open the URL https://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:1158/em, I am not able to login as authentication failure is returned where as the same set of userid and password work with out any complaints. Upon some look up, I realise EM dbconsole on the db server is consuming almost all of the available memory on the host leaving no space for Oracle or other processes on server. I cannot add any more memory for H/W restrictions. Having a page file of 4xRAM is not doing the trick. My attempts to grow oracle also do not help. I thought if I could control the memory utils of the EM AGENT and the corresponding Java process, it might help. I do not if that could be achieved.
Can we control, the REAL Memory Utilisation of the EM processes? Does any OS setting or Oracle setting help us achieve this? Please advice.
Regards!

As you have mentioned that the sysman account was locked I would recommend to change the sysman password as per below doc to ensure the password is consistent at both config file and DB level

Then try accessing the DBcontrol using below URL

Oracle 11g unreasonable large data file that can't be shrunk
I got this Oracle 11g installed on my win7 just for running my local application. In the Enterprise Manager the "USERS" tablespaces shows over 12g for allocated size, about 1g for Space Used(also see the table snippet below), only about 8% of space is used. However, when I tried to shrink the data file/space even to half of its current size, both from command line(resize) and Enterprise Manager, i got the error that says "Failed to commit: ORA-03297: file contains used data beyond requested RESIZE value ". I was able to resize my TEMP tablespace successfully with the same command.
Any insight on this? thanks a lot. I'm about to run out my hard drive space.

You have an object stored at the end of the datafile, you will need to move it down the file (or to another tablespace) before you can shrink the file. I though OEM had a "tablespace map" feature to help you see what objects were located where but if not, see:In EM (or 10g dbconsole, at any rate), you select a tablespace, drop down menu Show Tablespace Contents, then there is a tablespace map icon to expand the map. It can be slow. Then you can scroll down to the bottom, scroll up and look for where the last non-green extents are. Also, you can find the beginning of datafiles (if you have multiple data files in the tablespace) by watching for purple header blocks. Hovering over the segments gives information, and clicking on them (or selecting segments in the contents list up above) shows where all the extents are in yellow. I haven't tried the reorganize link... -
We have moved our applications in a mix environment (DB on Linux and App. Server on Windows) on Oracle 11g.
On the past we have tested the applications and they were working, now seems nothing is ok, it is like the 10g instant client on Windows is unable to communicate with Oracle 11g DB working on XMLDB.
May I ask if someone have seen the same problems?
Testing on Windows all the environment it was all working, but it was installed all on the same machine.

Just need confirmation that the old 10g Java based Enterprise Manager is gone forever with 11g and there is no management console in the 11g client installation (at least I cannot find one). Confirmed. Same as in the Database install.
And after searching the threads ond Oracle documentation, it appears that I can install 11g database on my local pc and then have a dbconsole (not grid control). Please confirm that this dbconsole only points to the specific database installed on the same local pc, and it cannot be used to manage remotely located 10 or 11g databases. Confirmed. The DB Console is tied to one ORACLE_HOME one one HOST for one INSTANCE. The HOST and INSTANCE are used in the directory naming (of all stupidity) and configuration file contents under the ORACLE_HOME.
I am still in the planning stages for grid control installation and would like to use the smaller enterprise manager - java control. But again, there is no such Oracle application for 11g now? I must use grid control to manage multiple databases?Confirmed. Fortunately, the Grid Control is included in the Database license as per the database Licensing manual, and you can put the Grid Control on a separate machine. Since the Grid Control is fed using a single agent for all product (database, and anything else) on the target host, the Grid Control puts on a much smaller footprint on a database machine than even the old Java console.
Note that the 11g Grid Control will be (at least) announced tomorrow by WebCast - check OTN. -
Oracle 11g new insatllation - perl.exe issues
Hi all,
I have recently installed oracle 11g. It was running fine for a few days and then i get errors like 'TNS:listener does not currently know of service requested in connect descriptor'. I checked this out and the reason i get these errors is because the machine that i am running oracle on is using all of its available memory.
The reason that this is occurring appears to be the 10+ instances of perl.exe that are running on it.
When i restart the machine there are 2 instances of perl.exe, but over time they multiply until the memory is used up.
Any ideas on why this is occurring or how to fix it would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advanceBecause of perl.exe I guess you're talking about an installation on Windows. What you see is not a bug, these perl instances belong to Enterprise Manager dbconsole. Perl processes are opened and closed permanently,especially during dbconsole startup you may see 10 and more. When these processes fill up the available memory, I think your machine has not enough RAM. Either add more RAM or - as a workaround - don't start dbconsole.

How to start oracle 11g?
Hi, I just did an installation of oracle 11g on my fedora 9. The db installed ok and I managed to connect as sys using sqldeveloper. After reboot, the database doesn't start automatically (which is what I want). But I don't know how to start it!!!
I looked around the net and I currently execute these commands:
cd /home/ariskk/programs/oracle/ariskk/product/11.1.0/db_1/bin/
export ORAENV_ASK=NO
export ORACLE_SID=orcl
#replace orcl above with the SID in whose ORACLE_HOME you find the listener
. oraenv
unset ORAENV_ASK
./lsnrctl start
./dbstart $ORACLE_HOME
but when I try to connect I get the following error:
ORA-12505: TNS:listener does not currently know of SID given in connect descriptor
My connection descriptor is correct because it was working before rebooting.
Also I am not able to run em. Again, em was running correctly before rebooting (URL: https://localhost.localdomain:1158/em/ was working fine before the reboot)
Any help would be appreciated.ariskk,
Once you have set your ORAClE_SID=ORCL or whatever your database name iis as an oracle user. Do following and post its output here? For readability enclose your code or output between \.To Start database
$> sqlplus '/as sysdba'
$> startup;
To Start Listener
$> lsnrctl status
$> lsnrctl start
To start database control
$> emctl status dbconsole
$> emctl start dbconsole

Allow Windows AD domain user to access and manage objects in Oracle 11g
Hi,
I'm using Oracle 11g on Windows environments, XP, server 2003 etc.
If I use a domain user (user1) maintained on domain server (adsvr.company.com) to manage Oracle objects in DB server (dbsvr), do I have to assign user1 as member of administrator on DB server (dbsvr)?
I'm asking this because my software vendor requires for it but our security policy doesn't allow us to assign normal domain user (user1) to administrator group on local machine (dbsvr).
If I have to assign user1 to administrator group on dbsvr, please point me which document says so.
Thank you in advance.
JeffreyLooks like some left-over processes keeping a hold on configuration files.
Manually kill the left-over processes and start the DB Console.

Error while creating a JDBC connection to Oracle 11g using WLS 6.1
Hi
I am trying to connect to Oracle 11g database on Weblogic 6.1 server.
First of all i would like to know if this is compatible?
The environement that i have is this
1. JDK 1.3
2. Database 11g is on remote system
3. Oracle client on my local system ( Connecting to the 11g DB through the client works fine)
4. Weblogic server 6.1
5. Currently the application is connected to Oracle 10g DB and working fine(We are attempting to move it to 11g)
Below are the steps that i followed to create the connection:
1. Made an entry for the datasource in config.xml under <WLS_DOMAIN>/config folder as below
<JDBCConnectionPool DriverName="oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver"
MaxCapacity="4" Name="CADConnectionPool"
Properties="user=abc_proxy;password=proxy_abc;dll=ocijdbc8;protocol=thin"
RefreshMinutes="5" ShrinkPeriodMinutes="10" Targets="CAsvr"
TestConnectionsOnRelease="true" TestConnectionsOnReserve="true"
TestTableName="dual" URL="jdbc:oracle:thin:@gen11t-ora.db.lab.xyz.com:1530:GEN11T"/>
2. Restarted the server.
3. Ran the application and get the following error on the server console:
<Aug 22, 2011 12:39:42 AM CDT> <Error> <JDBC> <Cannot startup connection pool "C
ADConnectionPool" weblogic.common.ResourceException:

Could not load 'com.neon.jdbc.Driver
If this is a type-4 JDBC driver, it could occur if the JDBC
driver is not in the system CLASSPATH.
If this is a type-2 JDBC driver, it may also indicate that
the Driver native layers(DBMS client lib or driver DLL)
have not been installed properly on your system
or in your PATH environment variable.
This is most likely caused by one of the following:
1. The native layer SO, SL, or DLL could not be found.
2. The file permissions on the native layer SO, SL, or DLL
have not been set properly.
3. The native layer SO, SL, or DLL exists, but is either
invalid or corrupted.
For more information, read the installation documentation
for your JDBC Driver, available from:

Would like some help on this asap as the project is in critical stage.
ThanksThe driver being used by your weblogic is too old and incompatible with the DBMS. Upgrade the driver.
