DBEnv initialized with DB_INIT_CDB and readers only, blocks indefinitely

I create and open an environment with DB_CREATE | DB_INIT_CDB | DB_INIT_MPOOL. After that I run a writer that creates a large number of databases in the same physical file. I terminate the process properly, by closing the Db and DbEnv instances.
Then, I create another process with readers only, after opening the environment using DB_JOINENV. If I let the readers process terminate successfully everything works fine, and I can run the process as many times as I want without any problems.
Nevertheless, if I terminate the readers process prematurely (i.e., ctrl-c) without properly destructing the DBEnv instance (since in C++ destructors are not guaranteed to be called on such an event), then I run into problems.
If I try to run the readers process again, then the process blocks waiting for a read lock. This does not happen immediately. I might have to run the readers process and terminate using ctrl-c many times (usually around 10 times), until the next execution of the readers process blocks.
It is as if there was a writer lock that was not properly disposed of, even though the process only opens databases using DB_RDONLY. Notice that only certain databases within the environment block on the Db.open call. Some of the databases can be opened without problems.

What version are you running? One suggestion is to make use of the environment failchk method if you are not already doing so. This is documented at:

Another suggestion is to add an application handler to trap the events terminating the process, control-c, etc. and then allowing the thread to exit gracefully, performing the needed cleanup. This should release all resources.

I havejust taken a series of photographs with my iPad that I would like to share with family and specific friends ONLY. I have set up the photos I want to share in Photo Stream. I have synced them to my PC via iCloud. Everything is fine except, the pictures are far too large to share ... and I don't know what exactly I am supposed to do in order to give my family access to these Photo Stream pictures.
How do I reduce the size of photo stream pictures once they are on my PC via iCloud?

Thanks for the replies. It took a while not hearing anything so thought I was alone. I have done many of the suggestions already. The key here is that it occurs on both phones with apps, and phones still packaged in a box.
A Genius Bar supervisor also checked his Verizon data usage log and found the same 6 hour incremental use. Suprisingly, he did not express much intrigue over that. Maybe he did, but did not show it.
I think the 6 hour incremental usage is the main issue here. I spoke with Verizon (again) and they confirmed that all they do is log exactly when the phone connected to the tower and used data. The time it records is when the usage started. I also found out that the time recorded is GMT.
What is using data, unsolicited, every 6 hours?
Why does it change?
Why does it only happen on the iPhone 5 series and not the 4?
Since no one from Apple seems to be chiming in on this, and I have not received the promised calls from Apple tech support that the Genius Bar staff said I was suppose to receive, it is starting to feel like something is being swept under the rug.

This is for iMessages only, not for text messages as in SMS/MMS.
Settings > Messages > Send & Receive > Apple ID.
Select your Apple ID and at the menu window that appears, select Sign Out.
Turn iMessage off at Settings > Messages > iMessage.
Then follow these instructions.
You can remove an iPhone from your support profile by following these steps.
Step 1: Click on this link to open the login window of your support profile.
Step 2: Log into the website using your Apple ID – same as your iTunes login.

Problem with copying and pasting text blocks in Fireworks CS5

Until recently when I copied and pasted a text block in Fireworks CS5, the block would retain all formatting applied to the copied text block, font, size, color, etc. Now, the pasted block reverts to some default setting. Oddly, if I copy multiple text blocks, the formatting is retained as expected, but not if I copy a single text block. I cannot find a preference that affects this, and I cannot figure out what might have changed. The current behaviour is definitely not desired, and is dramatically affecting my efficiency. Anyone experienced something similar or have any ideas how to correct this? Thanks.

Sure, thanks for replying so quickly. My workflow is simple. My problem is limited to copying and pasting within Fireworks. I typically select an entire block with the main selection arrow but I sometimes use this one too depending on the context. I usually just use the keyboard CTRL-C then CTRL-V to paste. Previously (and I have been using FW for years, it's always been the same) it would paste an identical text block directly over the top of the copied one, and it looked exactly the same, same font, same color, etc. Now, it pastes a new block in the center of the document and all the formatting has reverted to what I guess is the default, in this case Myriad Pro 12pt. The behavior is the same no matter which arrow I use to select the text block. I tried Edit>Copy and Edit>Paste, the effect was the same. The Duplicate function seems to work as desired, but I had never noticed or tried that command before reading your post. Using the keyboard to copy/paste is such an ingrained habit I'd much prefer to continue using it as I always have instead of trying to retrain myself. (I'm old, retraining is hard!)

Most often I copy and paste directly on the canvas, but occasionally will do it within the layers panel. Both now have the same undesired effect. I also tried creating a new document to see if it was a corruption in my current file, but the issue persisted to the new document as well.

Strange problem with RDP and mouse, only solved after minimize/maximize

We have this very annoying problem with a RDP Terminal Server. It is Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1.
This server has the Session Host role installed, with local RDP user licenses.
We only have this issue when running a certain application.
This application is called Rockwell FactoryTalk View and this in an application to display industrial processes.
It will take the Full Screen in a fixed resolution and will display buttons, objects, values... The application also uses Internet Explorer cache so I think it uses ActiveX, Flash or Java, I don't know.
What sometimes happens is this:
- The mouse point is able to move in the entire screen (good)
- The mouse button will only work in 1 certain area of the screen (which is a small rectangle)
- The mouse "hovering" above objects will also only highlight items that are in this rectangle
- The keyboard remains functional and with alt-tab other objects or other applications can get focus, but still no mouse clicking
The problem can be solved by:
- Minimizing the RDP window and maximizing it again
- Or: Sending a message to the session using task manager, after clicking "OK" on that message the problem is gone
Normally, about 5 users will have this application opened in their session, the "crash" is only effecting 1 session.
The problem seems to happen randomly and we don't know if we should point to the FactoryTalk application, or to Terminal Services/RDP. The end users have no rights to minimize/maximize, this is not the solution.
Is it possible to have any input on this please?

Firstly please check with the application support team whether the application is fully supported by Windows Server 2008 R2 in remote session. In addition, suggest you to update the client RDP version to RDP 8.1 and check the result for better feature and functionality.
Apart from this, there is Hotfix for the issue. Please download, install and check the result.
Cause:
The issue occurs because the remote desktop ActiveX object does not deactivate the focus of the remote desktop session when the focus is lost. Because the focus is still activated, the remote desktop ActiveX object cannot set the focus of the remote desktop
session again when you change the focus back to the session.
A remote desktop session does not respond to keyboard input or mouse input after it loses the focus in Windows 7 or in Windows Server 2008 R2

I'm at the end of my tether with not being able to access itunes which I could do perfectly well before! Now my laptop won't even connect to the internet despite the connection at the hub being excellent! No problem with ipad and phone - only windows!

Just a few lines to assure you you are not alone regarding speed delivery. By no means.
I'm on Infinity 2 with HH5 - was virtually guaranteed 63 d/l and told possibly even up to 78. My actual speeds are nearer 15 (yes 15!) to 28 d/l if I am lucky. I've played all the obligatory games of checking and posting and reviewing my HH stats - and of course wasting my time with India "help" customer services who are instructed to read from a script of inane generalities which are usually completely irrelevant and have no connection whatsoever with a user's Specific problem.
It more often than not turns out that the automated monitoring system imposes a software called DLM = Digital Line Management = which (with the endless excuse of improving line stability) increases noise margins and drastically reduces speed. This can kick in pretty rapidly and can take at least 3 to 4 days to modify itself - if indeed at all!!! Usually an Openreach engineer visit is then needed - who will re-set the Profile to what it is you are supposed to be paying for ..... then of course it is totally possible that DLM will re-emerge and the same old cycle of troubles will have to be endured.
We pay in good faith at the outset on the back of so many promises - only to be cynically let down and dismissed once signed up. It is quite wrong we have to continually argue our case to (try) to get anywhere and are always reminded that we are tied into contracts with expensive escape clauses - or that an engineer's visit is only free IF it is proved the fault is not inside your house - which it very rarely is! This is often more an Ordeal than a subscribed service. Superfast reliable Broadband in the UK ? Ha!

Join two Connect By Prior Start With trees and return only common records?

I have two tables that have tree structured data. The results, when running the queries individually are correct, however I need to join tree one to tree two in order to obtain only the common records between them.

You can use WITH clause or sub-query by using in-line view, without creating any view object in database.

Every time i open my system pref it never works and it just shows my cursor with the busy signal. and i can't do anything with it and the only way i can exit out of system pref is by going to force quit. and there it shows system pref is not responding.

4s Hotspot tethering only works with USB and BT but not with wifi

Hi,
XP sp3 - iPhone 4s with ios 5.0.1 - on Three one plan
Tethering with wifi works to a friends Samsung phone, wifi on the pc confirmed working with the apple store wifi, tethering with USB and BT works with good connection speeds on my laptop but when i try to tether with wifi it connects to the laptop at 54mbps and all appears well, even claims to have received a small amount of data packets, but no data comes to any browser. The iPhone reports 1 connection to the hotspot and stays connected with a non-pulsing blue bar after the first minute.

I've deleted my firewall (zone alarm) completely and turned off windows firewall to go naked surfing for a second even though they don't cause a problem with USB tethering, makes no difference

disabled bluetooth
rebooted many times
reinstalled itunes (latest)
loads more things i can't remember
This is causing me a nightmare. I've been through everything i can find online, been to the Apple store genius bar (genius appeared to have sub zero knowledge / interest as it involved a MS machine), been to a Three shop (legally not allowed to touch my PC apparently) and been to a Sony shop (laptop make, not their fault if my iphone doesn't work). All very frustrating.
Please help if you can! Any suggestion will be tried unless it involves sledge hammers or lakes, and only then for a few more days at most.

Turned off bluetooth on phone, turned off hotspot and on again, phone asked if i wanted to turn on bluetooth or go with USB and wifi only, said usb/wifi only. Still nothing. Rebooted PC and iphone. Turned on hotspot, pc seemlessly connects to network, still no data comes.
One odd thing is zone alarm asks me to "select a security zone for the wireless network at ip address: *******.0" every time and doesn't seem to remember the setting over sessions. When i get the status of the connection the ip address is *****.2 and default gateway is same ********.1 Not sure if that's anything.
Also getting a javascript error about an undefinded component (trustcheckermozilla) since i updated zonealarm but as i said even completely uninstalling zonealarm made no difference. I'll update firefox as well but tried with IE and still no data.

Problem with JTextPane and StateInvariantError

Hi. I am having a problem with JTextPanes and changing only certain text to bold. I am writing a chat program and would like to allow users to make certain text in their entries bold. The best way I can think of to do this is to add and tags to the beginning and end of any text that is to be bold. When the other client receives the message, the program will take out all of the and tags and display any text between them as bold (or italic with and ). I've searched the forums a lot and figured out several ways to make the text bold, and several ways to determine which text is bold before sending the text, but none that work together. Currently, I add the bold tags with this code: (note: messageDoc is a StyledDocument and messageText is a JTextPane)

Can't tell from you code what the problem is because I don't know the context of how each method is invoked. But it would seem like you are trying to query the data in the Document while the Document is being updated. Try wrapping the getMessageText() method is a SwingUtilities.invokeLater().
There is no need to write custom code for a Bold Action you can just use:
JButton bold = new JButton( new StyledEditorKit.BoldAction() );Also your code to build the text String is not very efficient. You should not be using string concatenation to append text to the string. You should be using a StringBuffer or StringBuilder.

Error loading with firefox and sometimes IE

Hi experts,
I published about 250 AW 7 learning objects and got a
frustrating feedback of my students. Most of them are using firefox
and got a red bar with "error loading" without more information.
Other students got errors like missing file or wrong length of
xtras. The same learning objects are running under IE without
problems.
Last year I worked with AW65 and had only a few problems with
my studends.
I used the default settings for publishing (I changed only
the window style to"onTop").

Some versions of Firefox will not display the security dialog
- I don't know
why. If your students can make sure that your site is a
trusted site (or the
whole domain as you have) then it should work without any
problems.
Unfortunately without something being trusted in the first
place your
program can't make that setting. They'd have to locate the
file and edit it
by hand. You could have them load the application one time in
IE. Have them
set the domain to trusted when the security dialog appears.
From then on
they could use Firefox becuase the trust setting will be
there. This should
at least rule out the security dialog being the issue.

It seems you are experiencing an issue with contact syncing and management. It seems you've removed an email account which contained a number of contacts that are not associated with your iCloud account. You can import an electronic business card, also called a vCard, into iCloud Contacts. If the vCard contains contact information for more than one person, each contact becomes a separate entry.
In iCloud Contacts, choose Import vCard from the Action pop-up menu , which appears at the bottom of the All Contacts list or a list of group contacts
Select a vCard to import.
The contacts from the vCard are added to the All Contacts group in Contacts. You can add the contacts to any other group by dragging them to the desired group.
