DBLinks Problem in 10g Release 2

I have many mappings taking data from tables in a remote database asociated with a Source Database module. All was working OK but after some changes in one mapping, when I triyed to deploy that mapping I got a warning in the Control Center's Job Details:

Right Now we are seting up the Timezone patch y the 9i database. I'll tell you later how goes all the process but meanwhile here are some strange things about the ORA-01882 error:
I've tested the DBLink using Oracle SQL Developer an it doesn't work. But if I test the same DBLink using SQL*Plus (no matter client version or platfom) it works...
I realize that when I created a new DBLink via SQL*Plus to determine if the problem was related to OWB 10.2. Running OWB 10.2 client from Windows or Linux produces the same error in deploy. Testing the BDLink from SQL*Plus from Windows or Linux produces no errors. Althought I can't recompile the package generated when the mapping was deployed, I get the same ORA-04052 - ORA-00604 - ORA-01882 errors.
When I completed the patch installation I will tell you the results...

  • Various problems installing 10g Release 1 (10.1.0.2.0) for Windows

I have been trying in vain for quite a while now to install the above mentioned release. I opted to copy all the required installation files from the CD to a location on my HDD. My issues are as follows:
According to the documentation I started the 'Autorun' but did not get the option 'Install/Deinstall Products.' I had just one option which was to simply 'Start the Installation' which I selected. Following this, nothing happened. There was absolutely no activity thereafter.
Next I launched 'setup.exe' from the 'Install' directory which seemed to start things off. After selecting options like installation location and type of installation I get an error message to say that 'Exception generated when IP address of host cannot be determined.' I have no choice but to Ignore and continue since 'Retrying' doesn't solve the issue and annulling the operation stops the installation completely as it should.
This message appears again after selecting the kind of database I choose to install in the next step and again just before the actual installation begins, after all the options are selected.
The next error message I get is 'Error when starting service OracleCSService.' Again I have no choice but to Ignore and continue.
Finally at the end of this exercise I cannot use this installation. My final target is to use the default database created through Informatica, an ETL which never can manage to log into this database.
Are the error messages cited above common? What can be the possible solutions?
    Regards

The 'autorun' not starting the setup.exe is a pretty well known problem. Your workaround to using the install\setup.exe is correct.
The "Exception generated when IP address of host cannot be determined" comes from not having a properly configured network subsystem. Perhaps you are using DHCP to get the IP address. However, Oracle is desiged to work in a server environment and the key difference between a server and a workstation/desktop/laptop/client is that a server has a well known static location (hostname and IP address) where all the clients can find it.
To get around this second problem may be as simple as setting up the Microsoft Loopback adapter. You should find more than a few references to that using a forum (or Google) search.
Your troubleshooting approach of 'ignore until everything fails' is perhaps not the ideal approach in Oracle. It takes a lot longer, but I'd recommend you stop to investigate each of the problems. Many are resolved through the documentation, however many are also well documented in these forums and on various web sites. Google is indeed your friend.

  • Installation problem with oracle 10g release 1 in RHEL ES 4 platform

    Hi,
I am facing such a problem. I want to install Oracle 10g release 1.
    I am using linux 86_64
os is RHEL ES 4 UPGRADE 5 X_86_64
When i put the command ./runInstaller It shows os is not supported.
Is there any way to install this oracle version.
Can u please suggest which version os is suitable for this.
    please suggest.
    Thanks & regards

WHICH 10gR1 software do you use? Oracle provides different versions, you need 10.1.0.3 for Linux x86-64 from the OTN download page.
By the way I would install 10gR2.

I figure out you are trying to install 10gR2 on top of an existing 9iR2 Oracle Home. This is corrected at the Path definition window. Most probably you just click on the <Next> and by default the 9iR2 Oracle Home was selected. You must define a new oracle home for the 10gR2 install.

  • Problem in oracle 10g release 2

I faced strange problem while selecting data from join of tables (in oracle 10g). While selecting, when the order of fields in "group by" clause is changed, the resulting summary of values is changed too. For eg,
    query1 = SELECT F1, F2, F3, SUM(F4)
    FROM TBL1
    GROUP BY F1, F2, F3, F4
    query2 = SELECT F1, F2, F3, SUM(F4)
    FROM TBL1
    GROUP BY F2, F4, F1, F3
The results SUM(F4) given by query1 and query 2 do not match. While testing these querries in differnt environments, we found such problem in ORACLE 10g RELEASE 2 only and not in ORACLE 10g RELEASE 1. I need to execute this query in oracle 10g. Can anybody help me finding the exact problem?

The results SUM(F4) given by query1 and query 2 do not matchSince the group by clause is not same, the result of sum can be different.
Can you provide us some dataset ?
    Nicolas.

  • Reporting problems in 10g preview release

is there a mechanism to report issues with the jdeveloper 10g release? i haven't found one (a mechanism) and i have found one (a problem).

thanks. i thought i had read that no one from oracle was watching the list. my mistake.
anyway, here it is. i have the following class, and in jdeveloper 10g the constructors that use Point2D.Double are all underlined in blue, with a tooltip that tells me there is no such constructor (actual message is "Method '<init>(int, int)' not found in java.awt.geom.Point2D.Double" . but there is such a constructor (class compiles and runs just fine), because the numbers i have typed in are treated as doubles, which is really what the constructor wants).
note that i did not see this behavior with the latest jdeveloper 9i.
so here is the class, not very interesting:
    package client;

    Hey Guys,
I am Srinivas Here who had been trying to install Oracle Database 10G on Windows X86 on Windows XP Professional.
If you have Win-XP Professional as your Operating System. Do not download the oracle Database using windows - XP Professional because XP will block certain installation files while downloading. In your machine install Windows 2000 or any other Windows version as a dual boot. First the download Database Zip files using your other version of Windows Operating system and then when you Unzip the files it will create a folder called Database and all the files will be present in it.If you want to store the same to cd for having to install the 10G Rel 2 database through CD then copy the contents of the unzipped database folder and store only the contents of the database folder and write them to CD's. Please see to it that while writing on cd's do not copy the folder itself .
After this, restart the system and get into windows XP Professional (Your XP Professional should be with Service Pack 2 in order to install 10G Database on windows XP - The Basic requirements for Oracle Database 10G on Windows X86).
I request you to check the software and hardware requirements from oracle Documents before you install the Oracle Database 10G on Windows x86 as well as Oracle Database 10G on Linux X86 or any other operating systems.
Finally, After you run the Oracle Universal installer in the last you will get messages for all products installed Success and finally it will ask the password for DBA and open the password management and give the password and reenter password and on the left you will have to unlock the items you would like to use.
In the last it will give you various URL links for Isqlplus, DBA, Enterprise Manager and a log report stored into oracle directory stored in your C:\Program files\Oracle folders. The correct link will be given at the end and you will have to watch the installation carefully. You can find DBCA and other options working. Try login in to Oracle through Command prompt, Sqlplus prompt availabe in Start ->Programs->Orahome10G->application Development-sqlplus as well as login through isqlplus link- Before this you should login at the command prompt as SYSDBA. YOU CAN SEE THAT YOUR DATABASE IS NOW WORKING IN WINDOWS XP PROFESSIONAL.
THANKS IN ADVANCE TO ALL FORUM MEMBERS WHO GAVE ME IDEA AND SUPPORT

  • Will OWB 10g Release 2 (10.2.0.3) for Vista 32bit work 100% on XP Pro

    All,
I have a problem with installing Oracle Warehouse Builder 10g Release 2 (10.2.0.1), after the install i cannot run the design center. So I removed this software and installed the newest version (see title). But there is "Vista 32bit" in the download title. Now I installed this and it seems to be working but I don't want to see my future work become invalid after a while. I can't find in the documentation anything about this new version working on XP.
Anyone who can help me out pls.

For oracle, you should use the correct version for the right o/s only.
Thank you for info. Can I get a XP version of 10.2.0.3 without having to patch from previous version?AFAIK, I don't think its possible. You have to install 10201 and than apply the patch to it to make it 10203.

    Hi,

  • Oracle Data Miner 10.1.0.2 Interoperate with Database 10g Release 2

    Hi all,
I cannot connect from Oracle Data Miner to a newly upgraded Database 10g Release 2 with Data Mining option. This database was 10.1.0.2 before upgrade, and I could connect via Oracle Data Miner before the upgrade (though it needs to be upgraded to 10.1.0.3+ for data mining to function).
I have similar problem for a new installation on another computer. The error message in either case is "Cannot connect to specified Data Mining Server. Check connection information and try again."
I can use SQL*Plus to login as the data mining user using the net service corresponding to the connect string. I check the v$option and DBA_REGISTRY as per the Data Mining Admin. documentation to verify that the data mining option exists and is valid. I am able to use the same connect string "host:port:SID" to connect from Analytical Workspace Manager to verify that the connectivity is OK.
Furthermore, some Oracle by Example seems not valid for a DB of version 10.2. For example, at the URL http://www.oracle.com/technology/obe/obe10gdb/bidw/odm/odm.htm#p, the point 6 <ORACLE_HOME>\dm\lib\odmapi.jar is not applicable, because the path <ORACLE_HOME>\dm no longer exists.
Therefore, I have query if Oracle Data Miner 10.1.0.2 can work with DB 10.2? What procedure should I follow? Please advise.
    Thanks and regards,

I am waiting on the beta version since I have installed Oracle10gR2.
I've been checking the OTN website every day to see when it is released.

  • Database link in forms 6i stopped working in database 10g release 2.

    Hi,
We have Forms 6i with all patches added.
We were able to recompile the form that contains database link in database 10g release 1 environment. Recently we migrated to database 10g release 2.
We still can run the form (previously compiled in database 10g release 1), but when we tried to modify the form and recompile it in databbase 10g release 2,
the forms developer closed down without giving any error message.
When we removed any reference to the database link from the form, we were able to recompile the form with no problem. Database Linkd in SQL works.
The question: what do we need to do in the database 10g release 2 to make the link in forms 6i work?
    Thank you. Lev.

I recently upgraded my development environment from Forms 10.1.2.0.2 to Forms 10.1.2.3 and am experiencing the same problem -- not able to COMPILE a form that references a database link. The error is: "Error 352 at line 99, column 3 Unable to access another database 'LINKNAME'". This occurs on an UPDATE statement within PL/SQL code in a form trigger that used to compile and work fine.
I tried the database link in SQL Plus and the link is working fine.
Database environment is 10g 10.2.0.3 on Windows Server 2003.
Is anyone able to do this?

  • Problems installing 10G (r 10.2) on Windows 7 64-bit

Hello. I am taking an introductory Oracle SQL class. The professor gave us a link to install Oracle 10g release 2, which I followed and performed on my Windows 7 64-bit laptop. The installation seemed to run through okay. When asked (again, per instruction), I created a database named CIS276 (the class name) instead of "orcl" as suggested during the setup. I am having problems getting connected to the database, however, and since the class is online, I can't go to our campus to sit down with the professor to work out where the trouble is, so I'm hoping somebody out here can help me. Here's where I am:
I am able to get to the Enterprise Manager through the loopback address and port that was given to me during installation. I am able to log into EM using the SYS account with the password I entered during install. I get to a screen that has a button labelled "Startup/Shutdown." When I click that button, I am taken to a screen asking for Host credentials (OS account name and password) and database credentials (I use "SYS", the password I created, database is already filled in, and "SYSDBA" for "Connect as"). After entering this information, I click on OK. I get an error message at the top of the screen saying: "Couldnot contact the agent. Verify that the url for the agent is null." I looked up this string and a suggestion was to run " lsnrctl status"--I think (I've been trying a lot of things over the past couple of days to try to get this running) and the program replied that the environment variable "ORACLE_SID" wasn't set. I looked up what I was supposed to do and went into Windows 7 Environment area and set the value.
I rebooted the computer and tried again and am still getting the same problem. So I Googled the error message again and saw a suggestion to stop and restart dbconsole. When I did that, I got an error (stopping and starting) telling me that I was denied access.
At this point, I felt I'd better stop and get any suggestions from more experienced Oracle users. If anybody could give me some suggestions as to what to try next, I'd truly appreciate it.
And one other question: when I followed the link to download Oracle, there was another download listed called something like "Companion Disk 2". Is this a necessary download or is it just extra stuff that I may not use for now?
    Thank you again.
    Eric S. Bauman

    Hi Eric,
I thin your problem is not related to Operating System. Right now I also use Windows 7 64 bit. and the oracle database that i used is Oracle 10g (10.2.0.3) for windows vista 64 bit. still up and running good.
"I am able to get to the Enterprise Manager through the loopback address and port that was given to me during installation. I am able to log into EM using the SYS account with the password I entered during install. I get to a screen that has a button labelled "Startup/Shutdown." I looked up what I was supposed to do and went into Windows 7 Environment area and set the value."
from your problem let's do it one by one:
to run lsnrctl, from windows desktop--> click start menu -> on search program and files box type cmd, the start menu will change its appearance and it will show you black icon with names cmd.exe do right click on that icon then choose run as administrator. It will open DOS command prompt for you.
on DOS prompt type : set ORACLE_SID=<your database name>, example : set ORACLE_SID=orcl then enter
now you can execute your lsnrctl status from the prompt.
in case you need to start listener you can use : lsnrctl start from previous DOS Prompt or you can start it via services.msc as follow : from windows desktop--> click start menu -> on search program and files box type services.msc then enter on window that open find oracle<oracle_home>TNS listener services then double click this services click on button start.
as for the agent problem is not running try to check the services with names oracleDBConsole<dbname> is it run or not.
    hope it helps.

  • Error Creating Database on Oracle 10g Release 2

I'm having a problem creating a second database on 10g release 2 on Windows server 2003.
I have created an initialization parameter file on %Oracle_Home%\database\initDB2.ora
However, whenever I try to run sql command to create a database with the same name as the db_name parameter in the initialization parameter, it gives an error database name 'DB2' does nto matchthe parameter db_name = dbase
dbase is the first database that was created automatically when I installed Oracle.
Any solutions? Why is the server not using the parameter file I have created? Why does it seem to use the initialization parameter file that belongs to the first database?
    Cheers

'startup nomount' with 'pfile=...initDB2.ora' clause? In this case Oracle chooses a server parameter file (spfile) by default and I still assume ORACLE_SID is set to your first database. So automatically spfile from the first database is used. You should try:
    set ORACLE_SID=DB2
(now in sqlplus) startup nomount pfile=%ORACLE_HOME$\database\initDB2.ora

Any idea as to where this is comming from?
    Thanks,
    Mike

rpm-org need lua and then beecrypt to work. I could pacman lua but the other bit needed to be taken in as a tarball. I had to do that "tar -xvzf beecrypt" then entered beecrypt and ran makepkg. Bunch of words, then I got a "beecrypt-4.2.1-2-i686.pkg.tar.xz" file. I turned into the super user and did "pacman -U beecrypt-4.2.1-2-i686.pkg.tar.xz" which installed the program.I did the same process for rpm-org. This is the correct way to do these things right? As I was unable to do the process directly with rpm-org since it was requiring dependencies and I should not assume super user to install programs outside of a pacman call?
mcmillan wrote:And once you have figured out how to use the AUR, I think you should look to install one of the oracle-xe packages, rather than rpm as in that link, unless karol had a specific reason to suggest installing rpm-org. I have a feeling that mixing package managers like that is likely to end up causing more problems.
Ok, so now that I have the ability to actually open this, oracle-xe-10.2.0.1-1.0.i386.rpm, file. You are saying that doing it this way could be bad for the system and I should just use the package build from AUR? How is it bad for the system? Does it merely make it so that pacman cannot uninstall the software.
Also, I can delete the stuff I independently downloaded the,*.pkg.tar.xz files and the *.tar.xz files, without effecting the running installs?
