  • Oracle 8i XML Parser for PL/SQL

    Hi,
    Using "Building Oracle XML Applications" by O'reilly, I am
    trying to get XML working on an Oracle 8i database. I have done the following steps:
    1) verify oracle.xml.parser.v2.DOMParser class is running;
    select substr(dbms_java.longname(object_name),1,30) as class, status
    from all_objects
    where object_type = 'JAVA CLASS'
    and object_name = dbms_java.shortname('oracle/xml/parser/v2/DOMParser');
    CLASS STATUS
    oracle/xml/parser/v2/DOMParser VALID
    OK
    2) Check for Oracle XML Parser for PL/SQL is installed:
    DESCRIBE xmlparser
    ERROR:
    ORA-04043: object xmlparser does not exist
    So apparently i need to download the Oracle XML Parser for PL/SQL.
    I cannot locate this download on the oracle site for version 8i (8.1.7.4 specifically).
    Any helpers out there?

    You can use the latest version.

    Found the solution on metalink. There is a file under /$ORACLE_HOME/javavm/install/init_security.sql
    which needs to be run under username where you are installing xml parser.
    This step is not in readme.txt file provided as a part of download from the OTN website.

    Hello.
    I have exactly the same problem and the above SQL does not return any rows.
    I upgraded my 8.1.5 on NT to 8.1.6. On trying to install the PL/SQL XML parser, received errors with resolving classes. Suspecting problems with Java VM, I re-installed the JVM using initjvm.sql. On successfull completion, i re-tried installing the parser. Still have the same problems.
    Is there anything else i could try?
    regards
    Krishnan.

    Hi, I have run into the same problem. I think the parser is looking for c:\XML on your sever instead of your local drive. Try creating a dir on the server called \xml and rerunning the script. I don't know whether it will fix your problem, as i am sitting with the same thing, but it is a step in the right direction. Also check your separators. If you are running unix servers use / instead of \

  • DOMParser object not found in database

    Hi, I'm not sure if this should go here or somewhere else.. Anyway, I've got a really simple java function that takes a CLOB as a parameter and simply returns whether or not it's a valid document. Works fine in JDeveloper, but when I try to load it into the database, I get:
    Errors in cdh_j_validate:
    ORA-29521: referenced name oracle/xml/parser/v2/DOMParser could not be found
    The XML Parser is installed on the database and is functioning properly.. I am deploying my Java stored procedure to the same schema that the xml parser was installed into. Any suggestions?
    Thanks in advance,
    Craig Drabik

    Would you load xmlparserv2.jar to DB? Or before this check if it is loaded to your schema by:
    SELECT SUBSTR(dbms_java.longname(object_name),1,35) AS class, status
    FROM all_objects
    WHERE object_type = 'JAVA CLASS'
    AND object_name = dbms_java.shortname('oracle/xml/parser/v2/DOMParser');

  • Urgent -- ORA-00600: internal error code, arguments: [17177],  -- on insert

    hello,
    I have a table with 7 columns, 6 columns are of datatype of VARCHAR2/DATE/NUMBER, one column is of datatype SYS.XMLTYPE.
    I am trying to insert one record into the table. The insert script is as below:
    INSERT INTO t1
    VALUES (234556789,1045,0,SYSDATE,SYSDATE,'SYSTEM',XMLTYPE('<GSL>300</GSL>'));
    There are no garbage characters in the above insert statement.
    When I run this script on UNIX I get the error below:
    ERROR at line 1:
    ORA-00600: internal error code, arguments: [17177], [0x000000000], [], [], [],
    ORA-31011: XML parsing failed
    ORA-06512: at "SYS.XMLTYPE", line 0
    ORA-06512: at line 1
    I verified the ora 31011 which says
    31011, 00000, "XML parsing failed"
    // *Cause:   XML parser returned an error while trying to parse the document.
    // *Action:  Check if the document to be parsed is valid.
    But the xml document is a valid document. The same insert script works on an NT machine without any errors.
    The version of oracle on unix is 9.2.0.3.0.
    The characterset is UTF8
    I fired the query below to verify:
    SQL> select substr(dbms_java.longname(object_name),1,35) as class, status
    from all_o 2 bjects
    where obj 3 ect_type = 'JAVA CLASS'
    and obje 4 ct_name = dbms_java.shortname('oracle/xml/parser/v2/DOMParser');
    CLASS
    STATUS
    oracle/xml/parser/v2/DOMParser
    VALID
    Is there any setting (enviroment or any other setting ) needed on UNIX to be able to successfully insert this record in the table. What are the steps I need to do to insert this record
    The problems seems to be in XML insert. Can anyone help pls ASAP.
    thanks

    Hi,
    the bitmap parameter disables the use of bitmap plans for tables w. only B-tree indexes. This will cause a performance problem in a DWH. So I would prefer to change the optimzer mode. The optimizer than uses a mix of costs and heuristics to find a best plan for fast delivery of the first few rows. This will not produce so much problems.

  • Using PL/Sql And XML

    Hello,
    Am trying to use the xml packages from pl-sql. Could someone please tell me what priviliges are required to use these package fully. I also guess that public synonyms should be set up.
    Tia.
    Rgds.
    Kim.

    I have checked that the XML parser is installed using the suggested select statement. It seems ok.
    Logging in as dba user, using Desc xmlparser is ok.
    Created user XmlTesting, granted the roles javauserpiv and javasyspriv to this user. Desc xmlparser give error sys.xmlparser does not exist.
    More thoughts appreciated.

    <BLOCKQUOTE><font size="1" face="Verdana, Arial">quote:</font><HR>Originally posted by ilho Ye ([email protected]):
    You first need to install XML parser for java since XML parser for PL/SQL depends on it.
    Try this SQL and see if Oracle XML parser is already installed on your machine.
    select substr(dbms_java.longname(object_name), 1, 30) AS class, status
    from all_objects
    where object_type = 'JAVA CLASS'
    and object_name = 'dbms_java.shortname('oracle/xml/parser/v2/DOMParser');
    If you see the result that status is valid and class is 'oracle/xml/parser/v2/DOMParser.
    Then you are good to go.
    secondly try this after connecting sqlplus
    describe xmlparser
    If you do not get anything, then you need to install XML parser for PL/SQL.
    You can download it in which there is a readme that would help you to install from technet.
    Also make sure that you grant javauserpriv and javasyspriv privilege to the one who is going to execute XML.
    When you finish up installing all this, try the command, describe xmlparser again.
    If you now see the result, you are all set.
    From now on you can run PL/SQL to access and retrieve XML.
    Hope this helps !!! <HR></BLOCKQUOTE>

  • Ora-03113 on dbms_java.grant_permission in oracle 10.1.0.4

    Hi.
    I recently installed Oracle 10.1.0.4 enterprise edition.
    when I try to grant a user java permissions I get the error:
    ERROR at line 1:
    ORA-03113: end-of-file on communication channel
    this happens when I try to create a java source object too.
    I've searched metalink but didn't find anything relevant.
    any ideas?

    user446591,
    I'm only guessing, but it seems like your [database] java installation was not successful. There are ways to verify the success of the java installation which are documented in the Oracle documentation (but I forget where and I'm too lazy to start looking for them now).
    One thing I do remember is simply issuing the following command (from an SQL*Plus session):
    desc dbms_javaIf you don't get any errors, that means that the "dbms_java" package was (probably) successfully installed. If you get errors, then you probably need to reinstall java (in the database).
    Good Luck,
    Avi.
