Dcmctl to stop/start cluster -- restart application server "busy"
Hi,
I am running two instances of 9iAS 9.0.2.x and 9.0.3 on two servers with a third being the infrastructure server. The 9.0.3 instances are clustered together.
I'm using dcmctl to stop my cluster and start it again. We take the database offline nightly to reload the data from the customer site and need to stop the cluster while the database is being reloaded (schema user dropped and full import being done).
I use:
dcmctl stop -cl cluster
and
dcmctl start -cl cluster
from one of the server's scripts. However, when we restart, the user's try to hit the web page and get an error stating that the application server is "busy".
Is there a reliable way to stop and start, short of rebooting the servers?
Thanks,
Jeff

J2ee server status stopped in one of application server
Long Text
Dear supprot,
We have 3 application servers to our production server.
App1 and App3 are working fine. when i am trying to start App2
J2ee server0 for the same server is getting stopped.
at that time "r3trans -d" is also taking lots of time on all the servers but giving RC 000.
when i will stop the app2 application server again "r3trans -d" status is
coming fast with 0000 for remaining servers and at that time everything is working fine.
please kindly help me to resolve this problem.

NirgunHello,
Refer to the log files in the instance work directory for a clue why the server node does not start. Usually the files you are interested in are:
dev_serverX
std_serverX.out
dev_disp
If you share these files I could help you identify and fix the problem.

Message bean does not start automatically during application server startup
I have a message bean that does not start up during application server startup. I am able to successfully start the application manually using the visual admin tool.I searched the logs and found the following error. The error references the "QueueConnectionFactory" is not deployed or is not started. I have check and the "QueueConnectiopnFactory" is deployed. Is this a problem with the application trying to start before the "QueueConnectionFactory"? Is thier a way to define a dependency on my application not to start until the "QueueConnectionFactory" has been started, if so can how would I define this dependency. Please provide and example.
Thanks,
Bill

I've could change that yes, but the startup script doesn't seemed to have this mind.

Could not start Sun Java Application Server
Hi ,
I have been using JSC for a while, now and then it reports an error " could not start sun java application server...". Does any one know why it s not able to start java application server..
Before you say anything, I have tried
1. use netstat to find any port conflicts.
2. Tried to start application server manually
3. shut down and start studio creator and then try running the project
4. shut down and start PC
unfortunately none of them helped
Only reinstalling resolved the problem. But I cant keep reinstalling very often.
Does any one know the permanent solution for this problem.
Cheers
kushSometimes it appears this is a timeout issue because it's taking too long to come up. As Jonathan says, undeploy can help with this (along with his other suggestions).
How many deployed projects do you see (in the server navigator you can open up the deployed server and see what's out there)?
I periodically undeploy "junk" projects that I'm not really using because they slow down the server startup (same thing happens I believe for tomcat... when the server starts it has to load them all and it takes awhile). You can undeploy from within the server navigator by drilling into the server nav and right clicking on the deployed app and choosing undeploy... or you can use the server admin tool.

Starting and stopping 9ias Infrastructure and Application Server
I have Oracle9ias R2 Infrastucture and Application running on one machine (bad idea - I know) on Windows 2000. I had to restart the system and of course all the different instances from Infrastructure and Application Server started in the wrong order and now nothing operates at all. (It was fine yesterday - really, it was).
Could someone please give me a rough guideline on how to start these services, or instances in the right order.
Much obliged
WilliamSir,
Can you help me to do the installation of 9ias rel. 2.
I installaed 9ias infrastructure on separate m/c.
But unable to do single sign-on on 9ias server side.
How to configure it for web applicaions?

Applications stopped to work after application server restarted
Hi all,
Does anybody face the following problem? Applications which worked properly before application server (WLS Release 11.1.1) restart change their behavior. Particularly, instead label text of arguments of entity objects pages display arguments original names like control hints had not been configured. Only after redeployment the same ear file applications return back to normal. It never happens on local JDeveloper (11.1.1.3) environment. I guess that something wrong in application server application.
Thanks,
SNikiforovFor jdev 11.1.1.3 you need a wls 10.3.3 server. otherwise you run into problems. For more info check http://wp.me/pcBZk-7S

The most reliable solution would be to remove all spaces from your path before starting the Appservers components. |#]

Incorrect start dates in Application Server Enterprise Manager
I have an odd issue when I look in my Oracle application server control webpage my start up dates are incorrect in the internet browser (IE7 or Firefox). All components are restarted nightly and uptimes on server show correctly through opmnctl status -l. Anyone else experienced this issue? We have tried multiple PCs and same thing.
Have you check the date, time setting in your linux, as well the Timezone used?

Cannot start Coldfusion 9 Application Server Service
Note that this is for a Dev server. Not vital, but super annoying. I found my machine had been restarted due to Lumension. This is normal. However, since I imported a .car file from the old CF8 server directly to this CF9 Dev server I had not rebooted or restared the CF9 service.
I found these error messages in the Event viewer:
The ColdFusion 9 Application Server service could not be started. Check the server "coldfusion" log files for more information.
and
The ColdFusion 9 Application Server service terminated with service-specific error The system cannot find the file specified..
I checked the JRUN logs and cannot find any logs pertaining to anything matching today's timestamp nor anything out of place that appears to be the cause. Nothing in CF logs either, mostly because CF never got up to running status so no logs could be generated.
I thought I found the culprit in this post, http://www.houseoffusion.com/groups/cf-talk/thread.cfm/threadid:61223 ... but the fix had no effect. I didn't find anything in my search using grep outside of the JRUN temp folder which a single .xml file had an invalid Coldfusion8 path. Fixing the path or deleting the offending temp files didn't cure the problem.
I've also tried moving all the root files that was moved into the /ColdFusion9/wwwwroot/ directory out and trying to start the service, but same error and failure occurs.
I have not tried reinstalling. I did install the CF9.0.1 update and it was working just dandy until this restart. There are no other computer problems experienced that I can tell and not other errors were found in the event viewer. Thanks! I now have an error that I can chase and hopefully diagnose.
"Error: no known VMs. (check for corrupt jvm.cfg file)" was the exposed error.
With a little big of the Goog I ended up with a solution from another CF user experiencing the same joys: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/795168
Found the problem to be as I suspected some incorrect path. It was the java.home variable that was incorrect. java.home=<IncorrectDrive>:/ColdFusion9/runtime/jre I changed that to java.home=C:/ColdFusion9/runtime/jre and it fired up just fine. Solved! -
Which is the better one to stop/start the cluster 11.2.0.3;
What is the difference b/n these commands below ?
#crsctl start cluster
# crsctl start has
#crsctl start crsHello,
To understand the basic difference b/w all three commands, first you need to understand the daemon process architecture:
There are four levels of daemons are there from 11.2 onward.
Level-1 : OHASD'S Spawn_
Here OHASD(Super Daemon process) will spawn itself and it will start :
a) CSSDAGENT, b) CSSDMONITOR, c) ORAROOTAGENT and d) ORAAGENT
Level-2: OHASD cssdagent, cssdmonitor, orarootagent and oraagent spawn_
Here cssdagent, cssdmonitor, orarootagent and oraagent, they all will start:
a) CSSD, b) CRSD, c) CTSSD, d) DISKMON, e) GIPCD, f) GPNPD, g) EVMD, h) MDNSD etc.
Level-3: CRSD spawns:_
In this level CRSD will start again:
a) ORAROOTAGENT and b) ORAAGENT
Level-4: CRSD orarootagent and oraagent SPAWNS:_
Both orarootagent and oraagent both will start all the resources like ASM, DB, LISTENER, VIPs etc.
Now Answer for your question:
*# CRSCTL STOP CLUSTER:*
This command will stop all the resources being managed by CRSD's Oragent & Orarootagent.
*# CRSCTL STOP CRS:*
This command will stop entire gridInfra i.e all daemons.
*# CRSCTL STOP HAS:*
This command is similar like CRSCTL STOP CRS but better to use this command in standalone server having GridInfra.

Starting SOAMANAGER from Application server Problem
Hello,
We can get SOAMANAGER to start when attached to the Database server in our ERP2006 running with Oracle on Solaris, but when we are running on one of the Application servers we can not get SOAMANAGER to start. Is there some parameter or setup that is needed to get this to work from one of the Application Servers?
Thanks,
Dan AdamsHi,
Is the ICM started on your Application servers ? If not, SOAMANAGER will not run when launched from an appserver because the URL is genrated with the hostname of the appserver.
On my system where ICM is started on CI and DIA servers, SOAMANAGER runs from every server.
