Dead 17imac core 2 NO RESPONSE AT ALL

I have a 17imac the core 2 model I think they called it the education on student model. Anyway over the past few days we would wake up and it would be totally dead. Then go to turn it on and it is fine. It did this a few times over the past few weeks.
Today we went to start it up and it is completely dead? No response at all NOTHING.
Any suggestions? Sound to me like it is either the logic board or the power supply. Do these things even pay to replace? The machine is about 4 years old.
If I bring it to the apple store what do they charge to look at it? How much money do I invest in it?

Hi, you could contact an Apple Approved Service Agent, they could tell you the initial cost of
investigating the problems. from then on it's your decision as to how you proceed.
I buy my Apple products via Amex & some other CC offer a double warranty service.. You would need to contact your CC company if you purchased it using your credit card. To my understanding purchasing Applecare (3yrs cover):- If purchased via certain CC companies = 6yrs. No doubt this post will create many raised eyebrows but it is worth investigating & thinking about...

  • Is my P55-GD65 dead on arrival? No response at all.

    I'm not getting anything out of my new board.  I've built many systems before, but this doesn't seem to be working right.  I've got:
    - power supply connected at both the main power connector and the 8-pin aux power connector
    - CPU installed with fan plugged in
    - 2 DIMS of RAM installed
    - video card installed with PCI power plugged in
    - no front panel connections
    - board is sitting on my table, not in the case
    When I flip on the power switch on the PS, I don't get any LEDs on the board lighting up.  I couldn't find anything in the manual about a power LED except for the 6 CPU voltage phase LEDs across the top of the board, but I don't know if those should be lit without the machine fully on or not.
    Should the power and OC'ing buttons at the bottom be backlit when the machine is off? Shouldn't I be able to use the power button on the board to power up the machine without the front-panel switch?  I get no fans or drives spinning.  Should I be getting any voltage readings from the test pins when the machine is off, or only when running?
    I tried my old power supply with the same results.
    I'm guessing the board will need to be returned, but I just wanted to get a second opinion.

    Before I pulled the board out of the case to test it on my table, I did try powering up the system from the front panel power button.  When that didn't work, I removed the board from the case in the event the board was shorting out in the case.
    I'm assuming that the power button on the board itself should work to turn the system on instead of shorting the pins for the front panel button.
    So, on the P55-GD65 specifically, should there be any LEDs lit on the board when the PSU is on, but the computer is powered off?

  • DEAD - No response at all

    Went on vacation for three days and iMac was in sleep mode. Came home and no response at all. Tried all the resets, power off, hard reset, and I even put a DVD in trying to get it to think. It took the DVD but there's no video, no sound, no fan sound, no hard drive sound. When I tried to reset again you could hear it moving the DVD but thats it. DEAD.

    Well ... the charger is the original charger and just checked and confirmed it is a 5.1V charger. How come? Next is why when i connect my iPad via original usb cable, no response from macbook pro? used to sync with iTunes now totally dead.

    Try holding the Sleep/Wake + Home buttons down for AT LEAST 15 seconds. If that does not work, get it serviced. Sounds like a hardware issue--like battery, Sleep/Wake switch or logic board.

There is no other response at all no matter what I do, including holding both buttons down for extended period.  My other kid got one and it works perfectly.....I have interchanged usb cables ports etc. but still no response....I would really appreciate any help.  

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
    Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
    least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    -  Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since you have a hardware problem with the iPod. This is because as you said the same cable works with another iPod.

       we used SRM7.0 with Standalone Scenario.
       we need to restrict the bidder response for all items. in RFx items tab page, there is a checkbox 'RFX response Required for All items'. but it is doesn't work for this purpose. If the bidder reponse without price, they get warning message "Line 0001: '0' in the price field means that you are offering the item for free " . [there should be no free goods]

    Hi,
    In RFx, in Item tab, you have an indicator "RFx Response required for all the items", but unfortunately it does not work! I don't know why?
    One way to make it is, to do validation using BBP_DOC_CHECK_BADI. Other way is to create subline items under outline and check the "lot" indicator for the outlne. For this, you must have assigned HIER_SRM to the process type of RFx and RFx Response. Also refer to note  1267549 while making this assignment. Then if the bidder quotes for one item, then he/she has to quote for all items.
    If you wanted to allow bidder to quote there own quantity check "Bidder can Change Quantities" in item tabl of RFx. Then the bidder gets separate columns as Required Quantity and Submitted Quantity. However note that, the system will not generate any message if the bidder quotes more than the required quantity. If you wanted to so, you need to validate the entry using the same BAdI.

  • My Ipad 2 no longer displays anything.It may come on for a few seconds,but then half of the screen goes completely black, and the system becomes non responsive to all bottons. At other times all four sides of the display becomes black, about 1/4 inch.

    Can anyone help me on this one? I got my IPAD 2 in June 2011. It never gave problems until a few days ago. It began to "hang", becoming non-responsive to all buttons. Then just yesterday morning, it went totally black. The display no longer displays. The Battery was charged 96%. I tried the power adapter, but had the same result. I tried the resetting, holding the two buttons for 10 seconds or more but no result. I have already restored it to the factory setting,(via my PC) and put back my apps etc. But after all this I still cannot see anything on the screen.
    I know it is still working, because from time to timer I hear the message alerts, and other sounds.
    Waht is the likely solution?

    Try a Reset...
    Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears. Release the Buttons.
    If no joy... Try a Restore...
    1: Connect the device to your computer and open iTunes.
    2: If the device appears in iTunes, select and click Restore on the Summary pane.
    3: If the device doesn't appear in iTunes, try using the steps in this article to force the device into recovery mode.

    I suggest contacting apple support...I know in Australia it's 1300 321 456...Not sure what it is for where you are, try this website http://support.apple.com/kb/HE57. Alternatively, if you haven't already, sync it with iTunes. If the iPhone's not been synced before, try holding the power and home buttons down at once. That should reboot the phone. Might sound stupid, but make sure it's fully charged first.

    Are you sure that it has a charge? Try leaving it connected to it's wall charger for a while and then see if it will start up.

    you should probably charge it.  Plug it into the wall charger and let it sit overnight.  Then hold both the crown and side buttons together while it's charging for 10 seconds or more and it should turn on.

    First, did you use Setup or Migration Assistant? That can happen when coming from a PowerMac or sometimes even from another (Intel) Mac.
    Second, wait for the next version of Final Cut due very soon to ship (may have to wait for the ".1" of course to clean up any early issues.
