Deadlock victim while concurrent users...

Hello-
I'm using Weblogic 6.1 SP3 and SQL Server 2000. In our application user create
packages...When concurrent users click at the same time to create the package,
application gets an error.
Create Package Functionality Overview: we've got the table called pt_package(package_id,
package_name, create_date, user_id). it has got relevant entity bean(PackageBean)
and we call ejbCreate...that go into the table and generete the maximum id and
then assign/create the package and write the details to the table.
Err Clip from console:

If you have any idea abt this, please let me know. I read bea documents, where
it says its due to insufficient number of connection. But I'm not very positive
abt it. Cause we conducted the test on our develeopement server as we had initial
5 connection and 15 as a max number of connection. We were only 4 person to test
that...Still we got the same err.......???
Thanx,
Ashish

with weblogic. The issue is a DBMS deadlock, where one DBMS client has locked some
page or database resource (let's call it resource A), and is going to try to lock some other
resource B. Some other DBMS client has already locked resource B, and now wants
to lock resource A. These two DBMS clients are deadlocked, and the DBMS recognises this,
and chooses to kill one client's transaction in order to at least let the other survive.
You should go over your tranasaction logic and DBMS locking to identify the locks
involved in the deadlock, and then decide if you can alter your logic to ensure that
every transaction locks A first, then B. It may also be an artifact of page-level locking,
where one tx may inadvertantly lock logically unrelated data, just because it is on the
same page as the logically relevant stuff.

  • JDAPI Error: ORA-04020: deadlock detected while trying to lock object

    I have written a JDAPI program to perform read-only impact analysis and report any problems.
    The following error is occurring:
    "A deadlock among DDL and parse locks is detected.
    This deadlock is usually due to user errors in the design of an application or from issuing a set of concurrent statements which can cause a deadlock.
    ORA-04020: deadlock detected while trying to lock object /NSPC6/CHECK_FOR_FORM_CHANGE"
    The error refers to a procedure in a PL/SQL library.
    In one case the error occurred after my final "end of processing" message, which is followed only by a call to "Jdapi.shutdown()".
    Any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Neville Sweet.

  • Is there something that needs to be done in response to deadlock victims?

    So, Friday I got a report by one user about an unusual error seen. It appeared to be a one time error that went away when the page refreshed.
    I went to the logs, tried to find an associated message to see if there were actions to take.
    (Boy, I wish there were a series of books for SP admins that covered all the event and ULS log entries and what action to take to resolve them)
    When I got onto one of the farm servers to look at logs, the event log had a number of unusual warnings and errors.
    I am taking a look at some of these to see if there is something that needs to be done.
    One of the errors - which has occurred 3 times in December - is related to the search software. One says "Foundation Search" and the other two say "Server Search".
    So, are these the kinds of things that an admin should just ignore at this noise level (3 in 2 weeks) or is there something that should be done?
    The warning is 57 and says that a database error occurred - a transaction was deadlocked on lock resources with another process and was chosen as the deadlock victim.
    The first 2 times the application was Search_Service_Application, while the most recent occurrence was
    'Search_index_file_on_the_search_server'.

    Hi Iwvirden,
    Deadlocks on SharePoint databases may cause performance issues in SharePoint.
    So if the error occurs on SharePoint content databases and occurs many times, then you need to troubleshoot this issue in SQL:
    http://blogs.msdn.com/b/grahamk/archive/2009/06/15/troubleshooting-sql-server-deadlocks-and-performance-when-running-sharepoint.aspx
    http://blogs.technet.com/b/christwe/archive/2014/02/06/what-can-i-do-about-the-deadlocks.aspx
    If the deadlocks occur on Search databases, then you can ignore them if there are not too many errors.
    http://blogs.msdn.com/b/sharepoint_strategery/archive/2014/02/10/sharepoint-search-and-deadlocks-in-sql-server.aspx
    By the way, the errors about search displayed in the ULS log should be checked as these errors may influence your search function.
    Best regards.
    Thanks

  • Deadlock issue while sending data from PI to JDBC !!!

    Hi All,
    We are getting below error while sending data from PI to JDBC (Database).
    Error - JDBC message processing failed; reason Error processing request in sax parser: Error when executing statement for table/stored proc. 'store_order_details' (structure 'Order_details_Statement'): com.microsoft.sqlserver.jdbc.SQLServerException: Transaction (Process ID 61) was deadlocked on lock resources with another process and has been chosen as the deadlock victim. Rerun the transaction.
    This is happening when more than one PI message is trying to deliver data at the same time to database.
    Can anyone let us know the root cause of this issue and how we can rectify this.
    Is there some setting which we can use to do parallel processing as Delivering one message at a time to database is causing performance issues & taking lot of time.
    Thanks
    Neha Verma

    Hello Neha,
    Strange but can please get below information.
    Please check with the DB admin about if the user is getting locked or is there any hanging threads related to user.
    Also confirm with DB admin if the exclusive lock is on table or on the row when you try insertign or updating information.
    You can share the user from the receiver channel.
    Regards,
    Hiren A.

    Excellent piece of follow-up on my first suggestion.
    I nearly made a comment about how the plan doesn't show Bloom filter pruning either - and then I realised why not. The plan you've shown us comes from Explain Plan with literal values present; the trace file shows bind variables with names that are generated when cursor_sharing is set to force or similar - so the run-time plan and the plan from explain plan are almost guaranteed to be different.
    Oracle support will need you to supply the plan you get from trying to run the query and then making a call to dbms_xplan.display_cursor() - dbms_xplan in 10g | Oracle Scratchpad If you do this I think you'll find that the pstart/pstop columns contain entries like :BF0000, and you may even find operations link PX JOIN FILTER CREATE / PX JOIN FILTER USE
    A couple of generic notes:
    if a query does sufficient work to merit parallel execution, then it's usually better to supply the best possible information to the optimizer, which means using literals rather than bind variables - you could try executing the query with the hint /*+ cursor_sharing_exact */ to stop Oracle from turning your literals into binds; it might be the presence of bind variables that's making the optimizer choose a path that has to include bloom filter pruning in your case.
    Where you have the to_date() call you've used a four-digit year - which is a very good thing and helps the optimizer - but it's also a good idea to include an explicit format string as well: with a four-digit year this probably won't make any difference, but it avoids any risk of ambiguity for the optimizer.
    I made a comment about the P->S stage and bottlenecks - I spent a couple more minutes looking at the plan, and I see the optimizer has used concatentation: in effect it has run three query blocks one after the other and fed the results to the query co-ordinator - in this case the P->S would make no difference to the end-user response time there's always a final P->S to the coordinator, you just happen to have three of them.

  • ORA-00060: deadlock detected while waiting for resource with Tbs Read-only

    Hi all,
    We're using Oracle 10.2.0.1 and 9.2.0.4.
    I'm testing the performing of a procedure that inserts, like this:
    CREATE OR REPLACE PROCEDURE P$TAD_TEST
    IS
    TYPE T_T1_C1          IS TABLE OF T1.C1%TYPE INDEX BY PLS_INTEGER;
    TYPE T_T1_DT           IS TABLE OF T1.DT%TYPE INDEX BY PLS_INTEGER;
    P_C1 T_T1_C1;
    P_DT T_T1_DT;
    P_RESULT NUMBER;
    BEGIN
    FOR j IN 1..4032 LOOP
    P_C1(j) := j;
    P_DT(j) := SYSDATE + (j/24/60);
    END LOOP;
    FORALL i IN P_C1.FIRST..P_C1.LAST SAVE EXCEPTIONS
    INSERT INTO T1 VALUES (P_C1(i), P_DT(i));
    EXCEPTION
    WHEN OTHERS THEN
    P_RESULT := SQLCODE;
    END;
    The table T1 is partitioned across 10 tablespaces. The test consist to take
    these tablespace read-only and perform the procedure, and analyze the results,
    like erros.
    but when I perform the procedure, The alert.log indicates the error
    ORA-00060: deadlock detected while waiting for resource.
    Why this occurs only the tablespaces are read-only?
    thank you!!!!

    Hi,
    yesterday we got this error again(in fact twice) and we were able to get the trace file. It says this is NOT oracle error. i was wrong in suspecting Oracle. This is the trace file details. i dont know how to debug this. Any help appreciated.

  • Max number of concurrent users?

    I'm in the process of creating a web site with Cold Fusion and
    Oracle. One concern involves the lack of web hosting services
    that run Oracle on their servers. So, to get around this
    problem, I was considering replicating an Oracle lite database
    and putting it on an ISP's server. My thinking is that there
    would be little need of DBA functions and I can run it on any
    server I choose. But ....
    1. Would Oracle 8i lite support a lot of concurrent users?
    2. What other factors would I have to consider if I set it up
    as a distributed DB ?
    Any help on these thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

    ORA-12012: error on auto execute of job 83
    ORA-00060: deadlock detected while waiting for resource
    ORA-06512: at "ARADMIN.CMS_CUSTOMER_DETAILS", line 3
    ORA-06512: at line 1
    Regards,
    Nikhil Mehta.

    Look at your alert.log, search for messages such as this:
    Wed Jun 16 15:05:58 2010
    Global Enqueue Services Deadlock detected. More info in fileSearch for the .trc file mentioned and opened it, it should have all the info you need.
    Even on the error you posted, you already have some very important information:
    ORA-06512: at "ARADMIN.CMS_CUSTOMER_DETAILS", line 3In short, you have another job, or a query that runs at the same time as your job which wants to do some DML on rows of that table and at the same time your Job wants to do some DML on another set of rows tha table the query has locked first.
    As in:
    a) Query/Job X Locks some rows of ARADMIN.CMS_CUSTOMER_DETAILS.
    b) Your job locks some rows of ARADMIN.CMS_CUSTOMER_DETAILS.
    c) Your job wants the lock on the rows that X has locked first.
    d) X wants the lock on the rows your job has locked first.
    e) Deadlock.
    So if I have something you want, and you have something I want, we are both "deadlocked" thus LMD comes in and kill one of us to resolve the impass. It's probably killing the X job/query and so that's why your job is still executing successfully.
    So you have two options:
    1) Identify the X Job/Query -- either stop it or change it's execution time
    2) Your job - either stop it or change it's execution time

  • Deadlock victim to the server

    Hi, all-
    One of my users got a red error message at the bottom of her screen when adding an order.  She could not write down all of it before the message disappeared, but she got "deadlock victim to the server".   SAP did not add her order at this point.  She then waited a bit and hit Add again - it then took the order.
    What does this message mean?  Should I be concerned?
    Thanks,
    Shelby

    Hi Shelby ,
    If I were you ,I would be concerned .
    I am not sure where to troubleshoot but I would sugeest you to start from sql server
    1.Sql server - database -has it increased significantly
    if it is shrink the database - use Admininstrative guide
    2.  If it start occuring , detach and attach your database
    3. Make sure your sql server service is started automatically
    4. Also issue might be coming from addon if you have some .
    Before you do anything ,please make sure you have a full backup  and test it in your environment .
    Thank you

  • Concurrent users problem ADF JDev 10.1.2(1811)

    Hallo,
    I've posted it earlier on JHeadstart forum but this forum may be better for this problem.
    We have ADF(JHeadstart) application with uix view. Application is created with JDev 10.1.2(1811) and run on IAS 9.0.4 with WebCache enabled, DB 9.2.0.4.
    We have problem with concurrent users.
    Application creates rows by inserts to view and instead-of trigger. Only inserts are allowed and every VO i configured to allow only "while new" modifications. When one user uses application it works fine, but when many users do same actions something strange is happend. It looks like sessions mismatch or sth.
    After LOV validation or JBO exception(from validation trigger) form returns and display error messages but users get in forms values they don't entered(they look like values entered by another users). Also form is in strange state - some fileds are made readonly. Non-visible fileds like fk were validated against mendatory.
    Regards,
    Kuba

    To tell you the truth I'm using a combination of 10.1.2 and 10.1.3 since the beta is still lacking the capability to handle BC4J. I'm waiting eagerly for the final release.
    As regards that document I followed the instructions to setup the 10.1.3 and followed the same guidelines to apply the same settings on 10.1.2 which has a different screen to setup the libraries. maybe I just missed out some jar files in the library setup in 10.1.2

  • Find the number of concurrent users in system at a given time

    Hi All,
    We have the ECC system in which we need to set up monitoring alert which should tell the following things.
    1.The  number of concurrent users looged  currently in the system.
    2. List of  transaction per hour or user activites with the counts
    I want to know whether we have any standard report , function module or tcode through which we can achive this.
    A quick response will be appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.

  • Error while migrating users using CSSImportExportUtility

    Error while migrating users using CSSImportExportUtility
    I'm tring to export all user and group information from a Hyperion Shared Services 9.2.1 by using CSSExport.bat
    When there was only native directory in HSS, i can export these information successfully.
    But when I enabled NTLM external user authentication following error occurred:
    Exception in thread "main" java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError: getOSVersion
    at com.hyperion.css.spi.impl.ntlm.NTLMProvider.getOSVersion(Native Metho

    e)
    at com.hyperion.css.exchange.CommandUtility.run(Unknown Source)
    at com.hyperion.css.exchange.CommandUtility.main(Unknown Source)
    I searched reference documents on the web, found this article: (http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E12825_01/epm.111/readme/mdm_111110_readme.html)
    Troubleshooting Tip: If HSS is configured for an NTLM provider, DRM services may not start due to error: "Exception Emdm_Exception with message 'Could not Initialize CSS. Error: 'getOSVersion'."
    You may receive the following error after clicking the "Enable CSS" button in DRM Console: “LoadLibrary("C:\Hyperion\Master Data Management\mdm_ntier_css_validator.dll") failed - The specified module could not be found.”
    To resolve both of these conditions, update the Windows System Path on the Data Relationship Management server with the applicable JRE and CSS pathing below.
    NOTE: Reboot the Data Relationship Management server machine after making any changes to the Windows Path.
    NOTE: Ensure that only one JRE version and one CSS version are referenced in the Windows Path.
    ? For HSS 9.3.1:
    %HYPERION_HOME%\common\JRE\Sun\1.5.0\bin;%HYPERION_HOME%\common\JRE\Sun\1.5.0\bin\client;%HYPERION_HOME%\common\CSS\9.3.1\bin;
    ? For HSS 9.3.0:
    %HYPERION_HOME%\common\JRE\Sun\1.5.0\bin;%HYPERION_HOME%\common\JRE\Sun\1.5.0\bin\client;%HYPERION_HOME%\common\CSS\9.3.0\bin;
    ? For HSS 9.2.0.3:
    %HYPERION_HOME%\common\JDK\Sun\1.4.2\jre\bin;%HYPERION_HOME%\common\JDK\Sun\1.4.2\jre\bin\client;%HYPERION_HOME%\common\CSS\9.2.0.3\bin;
    ? For HSS 9.2.0:
    %HYPERION_HOME%\common\JDK\Sun\1.4.2\jre\bin;%HYPERION_HOME%\common\JDK\Sun\1.4.2\jre\bin\client;%HYPERION_HOME%\common\CSS\9.2.0\bin;
    I found these is no directory "%HYPERION_HOME%\common\CSS\9.2.0\bin;" exists but "%HYPERION_HOME%\common\CSS\9.2.1\bin;"
    I configured PATH by setting to above, and tried CSSExport again, still failed.
    Than I disabled the NTLM is HSS, tried CSSExport again. It was successful.
    So I am convinced that the problem caused by NTLM or PATH environment variable or some files associated.
    Does anybody know the solution ?

    I recommend you upgrade at least to 10.1.0.5. 10.1.0.2 comes with the very first version of csalter.plb, which has not the current implementation. From and to which character set do you try to migrate?
