Deadlock when deleting from rsstatmanpsa during DSO activation

We are experiencing intermittent Oracle deadlocks during DSO activation in our BI system.  The deadlocks occur when the following SQL statement is executed:
      delete from rsstatmanpsa where
             partnr >= l_s_status-rnr_sid and
             psa     = l_s_status-dta.
This is at line 83 of the SET STATUS method of class CL_RSSM_STATMAN.  (See below for runtime error details.)
When these errors occur the background job for the DSO activation is cancelled with the message ABAP/4 processor: DBIF_RSQL_SQL_ERROR.  Strangely, when this occurs as part of a process chain, the status of the process variant does not get updated until/unless someone displays the process chain log, at which point the status changes and follow-on events are triggered.  In other words, the process chain does not seem to be receiving word that the DSO activation process has abended, so we do not receive alerts that a problem has occurred.
Has anyone else experienced this issue?
Thanks,
Bob
P.S.  We are running BI 7.0, Patch Level 15 on Oracle 10.2.0.4.0
Runtime Errors         DBIF_RSQL_SQL_ERROR
Exception              CX_SY_OPEN_SQL_DB
Error analysis
An exception occurred that is explained in detail below.
The exception, which is assigned to class 'CX_SY_OPEN_SQL_DB', was not caught
in
procedure "SET_STATUS" "(METHOD)", nor was it propagated by a RAISING clause.
How to correct the error
Database error text........: "ORA-00060: deadlock detected while waiting for
resource"
Internal call code.........: "[RSQL/DELE/RSSTATMANPSA ]"
Please check the entries in the system log (Transaction SM21).
If the error occures in a non-modified SAP program, you may be able to
find an interim solution in an SAP Note.
If you have access to SAP Notes, carry out a search with the following
keywords:
"DBIF_RSQL_SQL_ERROR" "CX_SY_OPEN_SQL_DB"
"CL_RSSM_STATMAN===============CP" or "CL_RSSM_STATMAN===============CM008"
"SET_STATUS"
If you cannot solve the problem yourself and want to send an error
notification to SAP, include the following information:
1. The description of the current problem (short dump)
To save the description, choose "System->List->Save->Local File
(Unconverted)".
2. Corresponding system log
Display the system log by calling transaction SM21.
Restrict the time interval to 10 minutes before and five minutes
after the short dump. Then choose "System->List->Save->Local File
(Unconverted)".
3. If the problem occurs in a problem of your own or a modified SAP
program: The source code of the program
In the editor, choose "Utilities->More
Utilities->Upload/Download->Download".
4. Details about the conditions under which the error occurred or which
actions and input led to the error.
The exception must either be prevented, caught within proedure
"SET_STATUS" "(METHOD)", or its possible occurrence must be declared in the
RAISING clause of the procedure.
To prevent the exception, note the following:
Information on where terminated
Termination occurred in the ABAP program "CL_RSSM_STATMAN===============CP" -
in "SET_STATUS".
The main program was "RSPROCESS ".
In the source code you have the termination point in line 83
of the (Include) program "CL_RSSM_STATMAN===============CM008".
The program "CL_RSSM_STATMAN===============CP" was started as a background job.
Job Name....... "BI_PROCESS_ODSACTIVAT"
Job Initiator.. "ALEREMOTE"
Job Number..... 05302800
The termination is caused because exception "CX_SY_OPEN_SQL_DB" occurred in
procedure "SET_STATUS" "(METHOD)", but it was neither handled locally nor
declared
in the RAISING clause of its signature.
The procedure is in program "CL_RSSM_STATMAN===============CP "; its source
code begins in line
1 of the (Include program "CL_RSSM_STATMAN===============CM008 ".

Walter,
Thanks for the suggestion.  This is the same recommendation I just received from SAP.
We are currently in the midst of regression testing for a major release, so cannot implement these corrections immediately.  I'll post again after we implement the corrections and let you know if they solve our problem.
Thanks again.

    I have seven(7) podcasts on my iPhone 4 that iTunes will not delete. iTunes copies them from the phone to the library and will not delete them from the phone when deleted from the library. I have replayed the podcasts over and over and they still won't delete. Podcasts are WSJ Tech briefings.

    This happens to several of my podcasts whenever an updated iOS comes out. You can delete the episode directly from the phone by swiping it from left to right. That seems to fix the issue (they drop off the phone and dont reappear on iTunes). It's as if iTunes stops tracking the play count for some shows.
    Hope this helps!

    Why are my emails not deleting from all devices when deleted from one?  I have iCloud mail set up and turned on. I have ipad2, iPhone 5 and a Mac desktop. What am I doing wrong?  Thank you.

    It depends on the type of email account you are using, not on iCloud.  If you are using an IMAP or exchange account, when you delete from one device, it is deleted from all devices.  If you are using a POP (POP3) account, it won't.  (iCloud email, Gmail and Yahoo are all IMAP accounts.)

    Hello,
    You need to tell us what the email service is. BES? BIS -- and, if so, what email provider? If BES, then see your BES admins. If BIS, then expect it to function in accordance with this KB.
    Otherwise, you can try the following steps, in order, even if they seem redundant to what you have already tried (steps 1 and 2 each should result in a message coming to your BB):
    1) Register HRT
    Homescreen > Options > Advanced Options > Host Routing Table > (it does not matter which line is current) > Register Now
    2) Resend Service Books
    KB02830 Send the service books for the BlackBerry Internet Service
    3) Batt Pull Reboot
    Anytime random strange behavior or sluggishness creeps in, the first thing to do is a battery pop reboot. With power ON, remove the back cover and pull out the battery. Wait about a minute then replace the battery and cover. Power up and wait patiently through the long reboot -- ~5 minutes. See if things have returned to good operation. Like all computing devices, BB's suffer from memory leaks and such...with a hard reboot being the best cure.
    Hopefully that will get things going again for you! If not, then you should try deleting and re-adding your BIS conduits for the affected email accounts.

  • Request Deletion from Write-optimized DSO

    Hello,
    With the new Write-optimized technology, it is possible to delete manually "older" requests from the W-O DSO.
    Could anyone of you think of an automated process to delete "old" requests from a W-O DSO (not the entire content , the most recent should still be available.
    For instance : delete everyday the request older than 7 days.
    Already checked solutions :
    - Selective deletion at the administration level of the DSO -> cannot be repeatedly scheduled
    - Copying the Selective Deletion generated program to make one's own program and schedule it (system cannot "remember" the generated program)
    - Diverse SAP Function Module -> do not work for this scenario (like RSSM_DELETE_REQUEST, only for cubes, RSSM_PROCESS_REQUDEL_ODSO or    RSSM_DELETE_REQUEST, where you need to specify the Request number
    - We do not want to include a delete job in a routine at the Transformation level.
    - We do not want to complicate the Data Model by creating a new intermediate DSO allowing to flush the DSO at each load..
    Any other ideas??
    We are on Version 7.0, SP 13.
    Many thanks!

    Hi ,
    We have worked on similar business requirement .We wrote a report program in SE38 and running it via a process chain .
    If you want i can help you to write code for same .
    It will be a two step process :
    1.deleting request from RSICCONT so that it get deleted from manage tab.
    2.deleting data from active table of that WDSO .
    Code for Program :
    data  :v_time  type c length 17,
              v_date like sy-datum .
    ( N) = 7  put no of days here before which you want to delete records
    v_date = sy-datum.
    subtract 7 from v_date.
    concatenate  v_date   sy-uzeit  into v_time.
    delete from  rsiccont where icube = wdso_name and timestamp LT v_time .
    delete from  wdso_active_table_name where rstt_tsmp LT v_time.
    It will do your work .

  • Deadlock when delete rows with blob.

    Hello
    I have the following issue. I try to clean a table that contains a BLOB column.
    To do this I use SQLDBC I create a statement that contains the LOB column, I fetch the line, load the Blob. and before fetching the next line, I send a delete request. and I fall in the deadlock.
    If I fetch the next line before sending the delete request there is no deadlock, there is also no deadlock if i do not request le LOB column in the select.
    In fact when I made select with LOB, there is the follwing line in DOMAIN.LOCKS
    SESSION;TRANSCOUNT;PROCESS;USERNAME;DATE;TIME;TERMID;LASTWRITE;LOCKMODE;LOCKSTATE;APPLPROCESS;APPLNODE;SCHEMANAME;OWNER;TABLENAME;TABLEID;ROWIDLENGTH;ROWIDHEX;ROWID;

    when i send the delete request the following lock appears in DOMAIN.LOCKS. A exclusif lock on the column I want to delete. It's ok
    SESSION;TRANSCOUNT;PROCESS;USERNAME;DATE;TIME;TERMID;LASTWRITE;LOCKMODE;LOCKSTATE;APPLPROCESS;APPLNODE;SCHEMANAME;OWNER;TABLENAME;TABLEID;ROWIDLENGTH;ROWIDHEX;ROWID;

    TABLENAME;TABLEID;H_TERMID;H_PROCESS;H_APPLPROCESS;H_APPLNODE;H_ROWIDHEX;H_ROWID;H_LOCKMODE;H_DATE;H_TIME;H_LOCKTIMEOUT;R_TERMID;R_PROCESS;R_APPLPROCESS;R_APPLNODE;R_ROWIDHEX;R_ROWID;R_REQMODE;R_DATE;R_TIME;R_REQTIMEOUT;

    The database request a tab_exclusive lock on tableid 0000800000046918 but there is already a tab_share lock on this.
    Do you why there is a lock on the table :  tableid 0000800000046918 ?
    How to avoid this lock using SQLDBC ?
    Thanks for you help.

    Hello,
    Here is code that explain my issue.
    I create a table like this :
    create table "ESKDBADM"."DBM350_AUTOTESTXML"( "MSN" INTEGER not null, "DIST_FILE" BLOB, constraint SYSPRIMARYKEY primary key ("MSN"))
    And then I try to delete row with the following program. I do not understand why the request SELECT Msn, DIST_FILE FROM DBM350_AUTOTESTXML set a share lock on the tableid : 000080000004691D.
    I do not find this tableid in the "SYSINFO"."FILES" table.

  • Deadlock when deleting a not linked data record in a parent table

    Hello, who knows about this problem with Oracle 10g:
    Our installation of Oracle 10.2g behaves different from Oracle 9.2 concerning locking of data records:
    To prevent that different users edit a complex data record at the same time and store it, the user has to put
    the data record into the "edit mode" and we lock it with "Select CharFieldZ from TableX where ID = 1 for UPDATE NOWAIT".
    In this data record references (= foreign keys) to other tables are used; with foreign key constraints we
    prevent those data records of these tables from being deleted, which are used in data records of tableX: on
    deleting such a record Oracle gives an error message ORA-02292, which the application translates for the
    user: "You cannot delete this record, because it is used somewhere else".
    Now when locking data record A under Oracle 10.2g, which contains a foreign Key upon data record 1 of tableF,
    and trying to delete data record 2 of tableF, a deadlock appears, even when this data record is not used
    anywhere else.
    Further conditions:
    - Data record 2 was created before locking of data record A.
    - In the same session tableF was opened for reading before.
    Is there a parameter, which leads Oracle 10.2g to return to the former behavoir ?
    or: how is it possible to prevent a deadlock anyhow else ?
    Thanks in advance

    I'm not aware that the locking mechanism did change between Oracle 9i and 10g. Can you provide a simple and reproducable example?
    You current description is very "uncomplete", e.g. this statement would lock the full table, but I think that is not what your application does.
    Select CharFieldZ from TableX for UPDATE NOWAITAs Peter already mentioned you should check if there are any other differences between the databases. Let me mention just a few points that I can think of at the moment:
    * indexes
    * FK constraints with DELETE CASCADE
    * higher oracle block size (can lead to more ITL locks)

  • Delete messages from server when deleted from iTouch doesn't work

    Hi everybody,
    Two questions really...
    One is that with my 2nd gen iTouch I was able to set IMAP settings and it would show all of the folders (other than Inbox) that I have created on my mail account. The 4th gen iTouch doesn't seem to let me see the sub-folders.
    The second is that I have my account set to delete messages from the server when they are deleted from my Inbox, but that simply doesn't work.
    This is withe the iTouch 4 and OS 4.1 (8B117)
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks

    Is it possible that I have the wrong Server Port entered? I didn't fill in that field at all. I think it was filled in automatically. I guess I would have to contact my hosting company's support team to know what the server port is.

  • Delete mail from server when deleting from mail

    I like Mail.
    But - the ONE feature I miss from Entourage is this:
    Delete mail from server when deleting the trash
    Mail can be set to delete messages from the server -- after downloading to the local computer. OK - BUT - I read my email from 3 computers. I want to keep the messages on the server - unless I delete them after trashing - and to read them on 3 computers.
    The BEST way is to delete when I trash them -- NOT when I read them.
    Using the mail program to see all messages on the server and to then delete them one-by-one is a major PITA.
    How can I tell Apple to add this feature?

    Use the "When moved from Inbox" option that should do it. If you trash it then it goes, if you move it goes... HTH

  • Error When Deleting From A Trigger

    When I use a trigger to delete from my Oracle Spatial table, the triggering delete statement will fail if the Oracle Spatial table has a spatial index.
    Details:
    Tables CHEV_WELLBORE and CHEV_WELLBORE_SDO need to stay in sync. CHEV_WELLBORE_SDO has an sdo geometry column plus foreign keys to join back to CHEV_WELLBORE. When you delete from CHEV_WELLBORE, my trigger is supposed to delete the related row from CHEV_WELLBORE_SDO. When I execute the DELETE FROM CHEV_WELLBORE (one row), it processes for a minute or two then fails with an End Of Communications error. If I try the same thing without the spatial index on CHEV_WELLBORE_SDO it works fine. Can anyone see what I'm doing wrong here?

    Hi Andrew,
    AllFieldsLocking isn't designed for this since you have an object that's composed entirely of primary data. You should make use of any other of TopLink's locking policies to make this work. For instance, try useChangedFieldsLocking(), pessimistic or any of the optimistic locking strategies available from within TopLink for this to work based on the design you have outlined.

  • Pop3 email won't delte from outlook when deleted from iphone

    When i delete an email from my Iphone, it doesn't delete from Outlook on my home computer.  It is a pop email account.

    Maybe you've already tried this but have you checked what your SMTP and (in case of) IMAP settings are? Which ports you are using etc.? I had the same problem with my email from my website/domain but it appears that not every provider uses the same ports. (standard in Mail is 25, i needed 2525 for example)
    Hope this helped.

  • Photos deleted from Ipod when deleted from Computer

    Hi everyone,
    After I download my photos into the ipod (60gb)I usually delete them from the computer.
    The next time I connect the ipod to download new pictures, the ipod deletes the old ones and adds the new ones. Is there a way I can keep all my photos on the Ipod after deleting them from the computer?Thanks Rebel1622

    Are you serious? I have the exact same problem and do the same thing other guy did. Surely there is some way to manuallly add new photos and not have the photos on ipod that were deleted from the computer deleted from the ipod as well automatically???? If that's true, that's nuts. No wonder I've never used Apple products till now.....

  • Tour not deleting messages when deleted from BES/Outlook

    I was hoping this annoying problem would go away when I upgraded from the World phone to the new Tour on Verizon.  Not so much.  It worked great after activating my BB with our corporate BES.  Now a day later when I delete a message in Outlook, it will not automatically delete on the BB so I have to delete everything twice.  I get all new messages syncronized on both, but deleting would be nice as well.  Any clues?  On the world phone, deleting would never work in both directions. i.e. delete on phone won't del in Outlook and vice versa.  At least with the Tour it does seem to delete in Outlook if I delete on the phone but not the other way around.  Thanks for the help.

    Is it a hard delete in outlook? (aka Shift Delete)

  • Slow response when deleting from PSA or overlapping requests

    Hi
    We have experienced slow response times when the 'delete' jobs are kicked off from the process chain to delete PSA data as well as overlapping requests from cubes in the past two weeks. When displaying the processes via SM50 it appears that the job is not running, however in SM37 the status of the job is 'Active'. Eventually it does finish, but sometimes it times out. Any suggestions?

    Hi
    When it completes it does the correct deletion of the overlapping requests. It only cancels without a shortdump. Here is a job log of one of these jpbs:
    14.02.2006 05:47:45 Job started
    14.02.2006 05:47:45 Step 001 started (program RSPROCESS, variant &0000000670942, user ID ALEREMOTE)
    14.02.2006 05:47:54 FB RSM1_CHECK_DM_GOT_REQUEST called from PRG RSSM_PROCESS_REQUDEL_CUBE; row 000214
    14.02.2006 05:47:54 Request '437,729'; DTA '0PM_C01'; action 'D'; with dialog 'X'
    14.02.2006 05:47:54 Leave RSM1_CHECK_DM_GOT_REQUEST in row 70; Req_State ''
    After the last step, that is where the entire job comes to a halt. It stays like that until we manually cancels it or it finish some hours later. We have recently uploaded patch level 28 on BW 3.0B, and am not sure if that could be the cause.
    Thanks :->
