Deadlocks with J2EE and OC4J10.1.2

I have a Stateless Session with a method that is doing an insert into a table. The transaction type is set to "Required". No explicit commit or rollbacks in the method (i.e.: managed by there container).
The connections to the 9i Database get done through the connection pool.
I keep encountering deadlocks on this specific insert statement on a regular basis.
Any ideas on what could be causing it or how I can investigate this scenario and trace the problem?

Hi
The images are missing here. So, It throws Exceptions.
Have u make the images to jar and make it available to JWS.
Like...
ur JNLP code
<jar href=\"jar/images.jar\" /> this tag will embed under resources.
ur Java Code
ClassLoader cl = this.getClass().getClassLoader();
ImageIcon ic = new ImageIcon(cl.getResource("urimage.gif"));
Try this.
All the best.

  • HA Solution with J2EE and ABAP Stack

    In the Planning Guide is written that if DB2 data sharing is used, each application server connects to only one database server at any one time. There is a mechanism called sysplex failover that automatically redirects an application server to another database server in case of a failure. Sysplex failover is currently not available for a SAP J2EE system.
    Let’s assume that DB2 Member A fails. The ABAP Stack A is doing automatically a reconnect to DB2 Member B. The J2EE Stack A isn't able to do this. So what happens now with the new incoming http requests over the WebDispatcher/ICM? The J2EE Server on A is basically running still well, because only DB2 member A is down.
    a) Does the MSG server realize that DB2 Member A is no longer available and informs therefore the WebDispatcher that incoming requests should be send to J2EE Server on machine B?
    b) Doesn't the MSG server realize this situation and therefore the WebDispatcher will furthermore load balance the requests between J2EE server A and J2EE server B?
    Thanks for your help and clarification?
    Roger

    Sorry, I haven't had time to answer your questions and unfortunately won't have in the forseeable future.
    I'm using read only, so I do not know about RW, except that AD requires SSL and probably some settings on the AD server as well as the account you are connecting with.
    BTW. The answer to the original question is that it is not possible to mix ssl and non-ssl connections to LDAP

  • NetBeans With J2EE versus Sun One Studio Enterprise

    What is the difference between NetBeans with J2EE and Sun One Studio Enterprise?
    Which of the two would be more appropriate to use for creating GUI applications? Which one would be more appropriate for an EJB based web application?

    Sun One Studio is Netbeans with additional "enterprise" functionality. As thing now stand, S1S is 1-2 releases behind NB, due to the time required to add the additional functionality. The added stuff is useful for large systems, and Sun supports S1S - but not NB.
    Depending on your specific requirements, either one might do the job.
    Both are now free, and it appears that they will stay that way.
    And both can use Application Server and Tomcat (or JBoss, etc in the the case of NB 5), and both work with J2EE.

  • Object vs Class base authorization concepts with J2EE/JAAS

    Hello,
    I'm evaluating J2EE and JAAS and I'm wondering how I can implement my business model using these techniques:
    As far as I understand JAAS, it's a class based authorization architecture. What I need is an object based architecture, specially when using CMP entity beans.
    Is it possible to design an object based access control based on JAAS and (perhaps) CMP entity beans?
    More detailed:
    Let's look at a simple (web-) application: A database contains only a table with documents, a document consists of an ID (primary key) and some plain text.
    I've got two EJB, one for editing documents and one for reading documents.
    Now I can easily design my application with J2EE and JAAS:
    An "editor" role with access on the edit bean and a "reader" role with access on the reader bean.
    The document class could be easily implemented as a CMP entity.
    BUT: What happens if I need a restriction on WHAT documents a user/role can edit/read, in other words, if authorization is not controlled by the EJB (code/class based) but by the ID (primary key/object based).
    E.g.
    User1 should have read access on Doc1, but not on Doc2.
    User2 should have read and write access on Doc2, but not on Doc1...
    As far as I understand JAAS, it's not possible to solve this problem using JAAS. If this is right, then I have to implement my own authorization system, JAAS could only be used for authentication. In this case, JAAS is just a tier in the security concept, just like different database users with restricted access to different tables and fields.
    If I'm right, then it's not possible (or possible but it makes no sense) to use CMP entity beans, because I can't use the "automatic" authorization pattern (I have to call my own access control system before invoking the entity bean, and so my clients loose some of their "leightweight").
    Regards,
    Jens

    Hi,
    I have study JAAS with J2EE for the last two months, don't know whether my ideas can help you. I believed JAAS was designed for java programmer who wanted to have security implement in there application but do not want to write the security themself. JAAS provided a robust system so that someone else can come alone to plug in the security module and security would be implemented.
    Base on your problems, I think what you should do is to have what know as a security access level implement in your object. When you uses JAAS to verify username & password, you can get user's access level as well maybe from LDAP server attribute, store in your principal. So whenever you want to check whethere you're a editor or author.
    You have to identify what is business logic and security logic access level is a business logic, therefore you will have to implement in your application tier. There is no perfect solution, but having these module will save you lots of coding and flexibility.
    Cheers,
    ps: Please correct me if my view are wrong.

  • J2ee and j2eeadmin missing after the installation of java_ee_sdk-5_04-windo

    Hello,
    I'm newbie with J2ee and I would like to test JMS technology.
    I have installed java_ee_sdk-5_04-windows.exe on my windows machine and I read the JMS step by step tutorial.
    The problem is that at a certain step there is a ligne saying
    Starting the JMS Provider
    When you use the J2EE SDK 1.3.1, your JMS provider is the SDK. At another command line prompt, start the J2EE server as follows:
    j2ee -verbose
    Wait until the server displays the message "J2EE server startup complete."
    The problem is that there is no j2ee.exe or j2ee.bat on my machine. I first checked under C:\Sun\SDK\jdk\bin and I also did a search on the full harddrive.
    Few lines below I have to use the command "j2eeadmin -listJmsDestination" but again this j2eeadmin is not present on my machine.
    How is it possible that these files are not present on my machine after installing java_ee_sdk-5_04-windows.exe?
    How can I solve my problem?
    Thanks in advance for your support.
    Alain.

    hello Philipina,
    I had the same problem when i was trying to do what in that tutorial.
    (exactly at this moment i bumped into your post searching for JMS stuff)
    The thing is j2ee sdk 1.5xx is a whole lot different than 1.3xx and there are no j2ee -addJmsDestination etc.
    Please consult the documentation of your JMS provider to set up administered objects.
    that's as far as i got to :(

    and this work fine...
    but I have try connect with another database
    (postgresql 7.4) to recovery some data
    and the local container of jdev is not recognizing
    the postgresql driver...
    where I do to make the internal container
    work with jdbc postgre driver ?

    To configure the the PostgreSQL JDBC driver:
    1. Select Tools>Preferences in JDeveloper.
    2. In the Preferences frame, select the Database Connections node. Select Library New button.
    3. Select the Registered JDBC Drivers field New button.
    4. In the Driver Class field specify org.postgresql.Driver
    5. Select Library field New button.
    6. In the Create Library frame specify a Library Name, and add the PostgreSQL JDBC jar file pg74.215.jdbc2.jar to the Class Path field.
    The PostgreSQL JDBC driver library gets added to the Preferences frame.

    <i>True, the application property service is apparently not to be used for a real-life scenario</i>
    You can definitely use the application property service in production scenarios - it's used by other components in a standard KM install, i.e. out-of-the-box.
    <i>in our case it forced the server down with deadlocks. </i>
    This should definitely not happen! Did you get SAP support to take a look at this? Was it the most popular documents report that caused this, or some other custom code? There should be no such problem with this service, since it's been around for quite some time and in production use.
    <i>
    Even if the code sample is not to be used for real-life scenarios it could at least make use of something else than the application property service which isnt't optimal for this use.
    </i>
    The application property service is good for a lot of scenarios, so it is realistic to use in in real-life scenarios. The only time I have seen this approach (storing the number of hits on documents in the database) fail is in very high-load scenarios.
    <i>Could you provide me with a link to the documentation for the logging framework?</i>

  • Problem with HttpURLConnection and HttpSession.

    Hi,
    Problem with HttpURLConnection and HttpSession.
    I created a HttpSession object in my main class and then called a URL via HttpURLConnection.
    I tried to access the same session object from the servlet called by the URL . but the main session
    is not returned a new seperate session is created.let me know how can we continue the same session in
    the called URL also which is created in main class.
    Thanks
    Prasad

    You are not supported to create a HttpSession by java client. Only J2EE web container can create it.

  • Help with WindowsDesktopSSO and AMIdentity.getAttributes

    Hi guys and girls,
    I need some help from you experts.
    I successfully setup, thanks to this guide
    http://blogs.oracle.com/knittel/entry/opensso_windowsdesktopsso
    and a lot of trial & errors and googling a Kerberos authentication between OpenAM version 9.5.2 and an Active Directory Server.
    When I navigate to openAM page (from a domain machine) http://<openAMhost>:<port>/opensso, it doesn't ask for credentials ...
    and I can see, with ieHttpHeaders, kerberos data exchange.
    Without creating an Active Directory DataStore (pointing to the same domain where I use kerberos data) in openAM,
    when I navigate (from a domain machine) to /opensso/idm/EndUser page, it always gives me:
    "Plug-in com.sun.identity.idm.plugins.ldapv3.LDAPv3Repo encountered an ldap exception. LDAP Error 32: The entry specified in the request does not exist."
    Since my aim was to get user information from a web app ... I thought I could have done this with an agent/SDK call as I usually do with "classic" authentication.
    Now I created a J2EE Agent (on openAM) to protect one of my application deployed on a JBoss 4.2.1-GA server.
    Agent configured with default options and these changes:
    Agent Filter Mode: J2EE_POLICY
    User Mapping Mode: USER_ID
    User Attribute Name: tried both with employeenumber and uid
    User Principal Flag: enabled
    User Token Name: UserToken
    FQDN Check: tried both with enabled and disabled
    WebAuthentication Available : Enabled
    In my application WEB-INF/jboss-web.xml looks like this:
         <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
         <jboss-web>
              <security-domain>java:/jaas/AMRealm</security-domain>
         </jboss-web>Usually, when I authenticate with "classic" (internal datastore) login, I can get user attributes programmatically with a code like this:
           private String getCredenzialiUtente(HttpServletRequest request)
                String                 SSOUsername      = null;
                SSOToken               ssoToken      = null;

                    if ( ssoToken == null )
                          throw new RuntimeException("Unable to Get: TokenForUser");
                    AMIdentity amid = new AMIdentity(ssoToken);
                    if(amid == null)
                       throw new RuntimeException("Unable to Get: UserIdentity");
                    SSOUsername  = amid.getName();
                    System.out.println("######### USERNAME FROM SSO: " + SSOUsername);
                    Set<String> info = new HashSet<String>();
                    info.add("uid");
                    info.add("givenName");
                    java.util.Map mappa = amid.getAttributes(info);
                    if ( mappa != null )
                        java.util.Set insieme = mappa.keySet();
                        java.util.Iterator it = insieme.iterator();
                        while ( it.hasNext() )
                            String n = it.next().toString();
                            System.out.println( n + " ==> " + mappa.get(n) );
                    else
                        System.err.println(" DAMN - NO ATTR ");
              catch (Exception exception)
                exception.getMessage();
                exception.printStackTrace();
              System.out.println("OUT getCredenzialiUtente: " + SSOUsername);
              return SSOUsername;

    I thought it could be because I didn't setup LDAP DataStore ... so I set up Active Directory Data Store.
    While in openAM console (from outside domain) I can see (from Subjects tab) Active Directory users and relative information
    (like FirstName (=givenName), Surname (=sn), Full Name (=cn), etc.) ... when I try again with idm/EndUser (from a domain machine)
    I get the same error:
         Message:Plug-in  encountered an ldap exception.  LDAP Error 32: The entry specified in the request does not exist.What should I do now ?
    If you need more clarifications ... just ask :)
    Thank you in advance and sorry for the big post.

    P.D. By the way, my OpenAM configuration does not create any "amAuthWindowsDesktopSSO.log" :(
    I setup, from opensso/Debug.jsp message level for Authentication ... but it still doesn't create this log ... can you please tell me how to let openAM write it ?
    Again thank you

    Weird enough, changing to ADAM data store (and not "standard" AD datastore) solved the problem :D
    I still wonder why since both plugins share the same java [implementing] class...

  • How to use j2se 1.4 logging features with j2ee 1.3

    Hi,
    We have developed an EJB that will run in the j2ee 1.3 container of weblogic 5.0
    We would like to use the logging features of j2se 1.4 in our ejb.
    Can this be done ?
    How do I install and use j2se 1.4 a long side of j2ee 1.3 ?
    Is this a recognised configuration ?
    Many Thanks,
    Mark.

    Is it possible to install j2se 1.4 on the same machine
    that is running weblogic with j2ee 1.3 ? Yes.
    If it is.... How do we do it ?Just install it in different directory - the installer will do this for you by default anyway.
    How do we protect our code running in the j2ee 1.3 container from
    mistakenly using the classes provided with j2se 1.4 ?Thats what PATH and CLASSPATH environment variables are for. Read the tutorials on the left there for more information.
    Do we end up with 2 separate VMs one a implementing
    j2ee 1.3 and one a j2se 1.4 ?You end up with as many as you run.
    Every time you run java (java.exe on windows, just plain java on UNIX) you run the version of the VM that's on your PATH.
    It's quite normal to have (on the same machine) a 1.3 VM running Weblogic and a number of 1.4 VM's as clients of that Weblogic installation.
    I think I'm right in saying that 1.4 VM's are (in some cases) regarded by BEA as supported clients of a Weblogic server running in a 1.3 VM, but you'd have to check their e-docs site for exact details.

Set original project-->properties-->flex server to standalone with coldfusion as server.  After setting web root, Root URL and Coldfusion root folder app works fine with CF. Sometime during development, flex server gets set to J2EE and CF access halts.  Go back into project-->properties-->flex server and reset server to 'standalone' with original settings.  click Apply or OK and assume that it is reset but it does not.  Go back into flex server settings and it is still J2EE.  I have seen this issue before and can not resolve it or find any other threads where there is a resolution to this.  My only way to continue is to start a new mobile project, import the files and continue.  This is not an acceptable way to design any mobile project!!  HELP!!

  • J2ee and mysql

    hi guys, pls pardon if this has been asked b4...
    is it recommended to use j2ee with mysql? are they fully compatiable? if not, what database should be use with j2ee?
    thanks!

    Is your JdbcRowSetImpl this?
    http://developers.sun.com/prodtech/javatools/jscreator/reference/docs/apis/rowset/com/sun/rowset/JdbcRowSetImpl.html
    If so, then I notice there is an insertRow() method. Before you call that method, though, you have to call moveToInsertRow() to prepare, then call setInt() or setString() and so on to fill in the data.

  • Urgent! Serious problem with J2EE Classloader!

    Hi all,
    I'm having a serious problem with j2ee Classloading.
    I have "inherited" a J2EE application where all business classes (invoked by the EJB) are placed in the Application's Server classpath (Weblogic 8.1.4).
    Very bad because every time a class is changed the a.s. must be restarted.
    So I re-enginereed the package putting the business classes in a jar that is referenced by the EJB's MANIFEST file.
    This way all the classes would be loaded by the EJB classloader and no need to start/stop weblogic.
    Unfortunately it's not such !! I discovered that all business classes are loaded via REFLECTION
    Object objCommand = objClass.newInstance();
    Object[] param = new Object[1];
    param[0] = aDataContainer;
    objDataContainerReturn = (DataContainer) objMethod.invoke(objCommand,param);
    and the application server cannot find them using the standard J2EE Classloader mechanism.

    Caused by: java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: irma/utility/log/LogPrintStream
    at irma.business.service.LoginService.login(LoginService.java:79)
    On the other hand they're found if I put the classes on the application server classpath.
    Has anybody got advice for this ? Should I refactor the application giving up reflection ?
    Thanks a lot in advance.

    Reflection uses the classloader as well so it should work fine.
    A common cause of a NoClassDefFoundError is something in a parent classloader that refers to something only available in a child loader.
    For instance, do you have any of your application classes which are in the $CLASSPATH but reference something that is only (now) in the business.jar in your ear?

  • How to master good design with EJB and JSP?

    I use JSP to calling EJB. But the .jsp file is complex and it's difficult to maintain...I just want to work higher efficent with EJB,JSP and JavaBean. I want to know is there a good design with EJB and JSP? and is there any good material about MVC for EJB,JSP and JavaBean?

    You should read the J2EE blueprint available on this website. Better download the PDF, and print it for yourself so you can read it anytime.
