Grant debug connect session to user
I understand that if DBA hasn't granted following option to "user" following way:
grant debug connect session to user;, then "user" wil lget following error when she tries to debug:
ORA-0131:Insufficient Priviledges
Debugging requires Debug connect session system priviledgesIs there any explanation why DBA decides to not grant such privilege? Maybe such privilege slows down something? Maybe it can create security "hole"? Maybe there is another good explanation?
The "user" in this example was Schema/Account ment for Development personell who developes functionality, but it doesn't matter i think what kind the "user" is.
so why you think i don't have such privilege, what bad could such privilege when granted give? Its just that You have not been Granted that Privilege. Mostly in what ever shop i have worked Such grants are given on request Base.
Debugging is a Developers Right and no one can denie it.
But i never use any debugging tool. I only relay on my Instrumented Code. -
DEBUG CONNECT SESSION system privilege
Hi everyone. It's my first post to this forum so I'd like to say hello :)
I'm completely new to PL/SQL language. I'm using PL/SQL Developer and I want to make a simple testscript but when I launch it communicate appears
Debugging requires the DEBUG CONNECT SESSION system privilege
could You tell me how to set that? Greetings. P.in the xp:
start>run>cmd
in the cmd console:
1. set oracle_sid=<bobens_83-here_goes_your_db-name>
2. sqlplus /nolog
3. conn sys as sysdba
4. sqlplus may asks for password - if it does, bobens_83, supply the password that was chossen during the install process.
5. grant DEBUG CONNECT SESSION to =<bobens_83-here_goes_your_db-username>
6. exit sqlplus
7. exit cmd
in the xp:
try to debug using PL/SQL Developer.
Have fun,

Granting system privileges DEBUG ANY PROCEDURE and CONNECT SESSION in 10gXE
I am using Oracle DB 10g Express Edition and trying out SQL Developer. Whenever I want to debug a procedure I got the error:
This session requires DEBUG CONNECT SESSION and DEBUG ANY PROCEDURE user privileges.
But I don't see these privileges to grant in the XE GUI for users.
Does anybody know if this is supported in XE.
Thanks.Hi
Use SQL*Plus (or the apex interface), logon as dba and type this sql statements:
grant DEBUG CONNECT SESSION to <username>;
grant CONNECT SESSION to <username>; -
Difference between connection, session and process
Hi all,
Can anyone please update me on the difference between connection, session and process.
Thanks in advance,
- SriI got this useful note by googled in net. It describes session, connection, process gracefully.
A connection is a physical circuit between you and the database.A connection
might be one of many types -- most popular begin DEDICATED server and SHARED
server. Zero, one or more sessions may be established over a given connection
to the database as show above with sqlplus. A process will be used by a session
to execute statements. Sometimes there is a one to one relationship between
CONNECTION->SESSION->PROCESS (eg: a normal dedicated server connection).
Sometimes there is a one to many from connection to sessions (eg: like
autotrace, one connection, two sessions, one process). A process does not have
to be dedicated to a specific connection or session however, for example when
using shared server (MTS), your SESSION will grab a process from a pool of
processes in order to execute a statement. When the call is over, that process
is released back to the pool of processes. -
Hi,
What are all the options to increase the Max. No. of connections(Sessions) & Processes in Database?
Also, I would like to know How we have to validate the count to fix the No. of connections based on the Database Health?
Kindly clarify me on this.
Thanks,

Also, I would like to know How we have to validate the count to fix the No. of connections based on the Database Health?Check v$license.SESSIONS_HIGHWATER value. That would give you an indication of highest possible load on the database. In case of a brand new setup (with no information about the number of concurrent users), you need to start with a reasonable value and revise if needed. -
OraOLEDB.Oracle provider create connections (sessions).
Hi all,
I have Link server between oracle and MSSQL with following versions,
Oracle – 10G
MSSQL – SQL Server 2008 R2
Link server provider=N'OraOLEDB.Oracle'
After created link server then without actually doing any queries or anything oracle side create 100 or 120 connections (sessions) from this SQL server to oracle server. Any idea on this?
Thanks
Tharindu DhaneenjaAlright, so it's not that. It's possible the OLE DB provider isn't installed, depending on how you installed the Oracle client.
This link has a little windows script that can list all the known OLE DB providers. That should tell you if its installed and SSIS isn't finding it, or if it's not installed at all. http://www.motobit.com/help/regedit/sa117.htm -

Adobe Connect Session only works after 5:00 pm
I have a bizzare situation where my adobe connect session only works after 5:00 pm. I have two other users who tried this and the session just hangs and then there is an error . But when both of us try after 5:00 it works fine. We are using IE 8.0. Also this will work fine in firefox at any time of the day. We have to roll this out to 2,000 users and need to get this working during the day.
Thanks
Aurangzeb NisarSo there is a troubleshooting error that occurse.
Then I go through the adobe connect test results and it fails at adobe connection test.
So here is more details:
Now I can get it to work when I use the content outside the Saba LMS that I am using.
But when I use it through the LMS then I get an connect error.
"Adobe connect connection test" Unable to connect . This only happens through IE 8.0
When using firefox through Saba LMS it works fine. -
What's the best way to capture speech as text in live or recorded Adobe Connection sessions?
Hi
What's the best way to capture speech as text in live or recorded Adobe Connection sessions?
We would like to have a transcript of the presentation. Is Adobe Connect compatible with Dragon speech recognition software - or is there a preferred Adobe product or method?
We use PCs running Windows 7 Enterprise.
thanksThe class java.util.Date is not itself deprecated, however several of its methods are.
For converting string -> date, you should use the class java.text.SimpleDateFormat. That allows you to specify format strings such as MM-dd-yyyy hh:mm:ss for converting date -> string -> date.
If you are wanting to set day/month/year on the date object directly, instead of the Date methods setDay, setMonth, setYear, you should instead use the java.util.Calender class:
calendar.set(Calendar.MONTH, 4);
The calendar can then be converted to a Date object by calling calendar.getTime().
If you are going to use the date as part of a sql query, I would recommend using a Prepared statement, and the java.sql.Date/java.sql.Timestamp class as well.
To convert from java.util.Date to java.sql.Date)
jva.util.Date utilDate = Calendar.getInstance().getTime();
java.sql.Date sqlDate = new java.sql.Date(utilDate.getTime());cheers,

A problem of using Connection session in Oracle9iAS Report
I used Oracle Report6i Before. Report6i creates a database
connection each time a user sends in a report request. So, each
time the users send in request, they will have different connection
session.
But in Oracle9iAS report, things become different because Report9i
is using the connection pool. It looks like, different users if
they used the same database login ID will use the same connection.
This means all these users will be in same connection session. Then
if these users are trying to run a same report which uses some session
temporary table for reporting, they will interfere with each.
For an example,
1) user A and B are going to run a report named rep_AB
2) In rep_AB, a temporary table named t_table is used to store
the query result for reporting. But this temporary table never
get committed, so it's only valid for the current session. This
is what I actually want.
3) User A and B use the same user ID to login database
4) When report server receives the request from A, it contructed
a connection for A
5) After get connected, User A begins to write into temporary table
t_table in his session.
6) Then comes the request from user B. Report server finds out user
B has the same user ID, then assigns him the same connection used
by user A. So user B gets into the same session as user A.
7) User B begins to write into table t_table, but user A is going to
output the data in t_table as reporting result.
Then eventually, both user A and B give out the wrong report because
actaully they have interefered with each other.
Is there any workaround for this case? Any information and help is
appreciated greatly.

Flash CS publish app to wifi debug connect in one action
I am pretty sure I have gotten this to work before.
I wants to deploy an android app to a device via usb/flash pro, and have it automatically open to a waiting remote debug session in Flash IDE via wifi.
However publishing direct launch via USB closes the remote debugging console. (debugger was waiting to connect at that point).
I usually need to publish to device, close the app, launch remote debugger, and re-launch app to connect.
Am I missing something? I swear I have done this before.
I don't like usb debugger because slight movement of the wire/physical connection sometimes drops the session.Hi , I am having the same question,I am having a MAC and XCODE programme.
Can any one helps me to let the XCODE opens non MAC files for instance flash ipa.
I am new in XCODE , could you help step by step so I can open the flash IPA CS5 file.
I will learn Xcode, but I want to publish some Apps made by flash since I spent long....Time...
Then from now I will start from the scratch using XCODE. I think it is easier as some developers adviced me.

Monitor database connections/sessions
Hi, i would know if anyone has suggestion on how i can monitor the number of connections to the db from a particular host?
From the oracle client's oracle enterprise manager console, i can go network->database->instance->sessions, i can see the which remote host is the connection coming from and what program is using the connection.
From the OS level i could do a primitive `ps -ef | grep ORACLE_SID ` to see and count the total number of connections.( but i cant see which remote is the connection coming from)
I would like to achieve the purpose of remotely monitoring of the DB, if there are too many sessions coming from a particular host, running a particular program, send out alerts.
Are there any oracle commands or OS scripting that i can use?Potentially, you could query the v$session data dictionary to get this sort of information for active connections. You might also want to audit connections and query the audit tables.
Of course, unless you're trying to monitor a problem that is very particular to your environment, I'm not sure how useful the sort of monitoring you're proposing would be. Knowing that there are a larger number of connections from a particular host than normal wouldn't seem to be a particularly interesting event.
