Debug logging for ConnectByDN

Our client app is seeing ConnectByDN fail under some circumstances,
despite always using the same DN and tree as inputs. I suspect
something rotten in our connection management, but need some more
data to debug this further. Is there some debug logging that I
can enable on client or server that would shed some light on what's
going on with the failed connection?
We're running the client as a Windows service in a NetWare 6.5/
eDir 8.8/GroupWise 7 environment.
Thanks in advance,
John

John
I'm not aware of any debugging options. Watching with Ethereal might reveal
something. But I've always found connecting via the path to the domain to be
more reliable than connecting via the domain object. So I routinely read the
"NGW: Location" attribute of the domain object, and attempt to connect
directly via the path if connection via the domain object fails.

  • Debug logging for mod_ossl

    Hi,
    I tried to set log level for mod_ossl to debug, but the actual "logging depth" of mod_ossl messages seems to only go as far as the "trace" level. That is:
    even when log level is set to debug, the actual log only shows "trace" (od higher level) messages, there are no "debug" mesages.
    Has anyone else come across anything similar? Is that a
    bug, a feature or just my mistake?
    ias version: 9ias903,
    settings:
    Directive:
    <VirtualHost blahblah... >
    SSLLogLevel debug
    </VirtualHost>
    Will be grateful for any kind of input....
    Thanks,

  • How to collect debug logs for custom module only in EBS by AppsLog.write?

    Hi,
    Customer is trying to retrieve logs for their custom module (XXKCZ) and
    put it to /log/kcz.log by using AppsLog.write() method. (refer to sample code below)
    Customer has set these profile values in the application level and removed the values
    in the site level. But the file /log/kcz.log is created but does not have any lines in it.
    Is there something wrong to the coding of AppsLog.write?
    Application Name "xxkcz"
     FND: Debug Log Enabled "Y"
     FND: Debug Log Module "xxkcz%"
     FND: Debug Log Level "UNEXPECTED"
     FND: Debug Log Filename "/log/kcz.log"
     ---- [Sample Code starts] ----
     Package jp.kaikei.oracle.apps.xxkcz.util.server;

     import oracle.apps.fnd.common.Log;
     public class CommonLog{
     public void initLog() {
     AppsContext appsCtx = new AppsContext();
     AppsLog appsLog = appsCtx.getAppsLog();
     appShortname = "xxkcz"
     message ="Message started"
     CLASS_NAME = "jp.kaikei.oracle.apps.xxkcz.util.server.CommonLog";
     String moduleName = appShortName + "." + CLASS_NAME + ".initlLog;
     appsLog.write(moduleName, message, Log.UNEXPECTED)
     ---- [Sample Code ends] ----
    Any advise?
    Thanks.

    May be some initialization is missing,
    I have created my own writetoFile method,
    if you want you can try this,
    * Method to write the debug messages into a File
    public void writeFile(String debugMsg, String userName)
    String logDir = (String)this.getOADBTransaction().getProfile("XXPO_OA_PDT_PDT_DEBUG_DIR");
    BufferedWriter out;
    //DateFormat dateFormat = new SimpleDateFormat("dd-MM-yyyy HH:mm:ss");
    Date date = new Date();
    // if(logDir ==null)
    // logDir = "/ebsgld/ebsgldcomn/temp/";
    String fileName = logDir+userName+"-pdt_log.log";
    //createDiag(XXPO_APP_SHORT_NAME,"[AM]fileName "+fileName);
    try
    out = new BufferedWriter(new FileWriter(fileName,true));
    out.write("\n\n" + debugMsg);
    out.close();
    } catch (IOException e)
    //System.out.println("exception in Writing the log file "+e.toString());
    //createDiag(XXPO_APP_SHORT_NAME,"[AM] Exception in Writing the log file "+e.toString());
    //Only start and end file
    if(debugMsg.indexOf("##########")!=-1)
    String impFileName = logDir+userName+"-pdt_imp_log.log";
    // System.out.println("File Name is "+fileName);
    try
    out = new BufferedWriter(new FileWriter(impFileName,true));
    out.write("\n\n" + debugMsg);
    out.close();
    } catch (IOException e)
    createDiag(XXPO_APP_SHORT_NAME,"[AM] exception in Writing the log imp file "+e.toString());

  • Is there a debug log file for iTunes "Add to Library" failures?

    I have an odd movie file (mp4, h264, AAC) that iTunes will not import. I transcode, tag and import videos all the time but this one fails silently on import. I've tried the drag n drop, import to library and auto-import folder methods. Nada. It plays fine in the standalone quicktime player, so it is somewhat compatible.
    Does anyone know if and where iTunes logs these failures? I've been poking around the console app logs but cannot find anything. I'd love to know why it is rejecting it. I suspect it is a compatibility issue.
    Thanks
    Drew

    Thanks for the reply Jim. Yes I did notice this option, it wasn't too attractive to me as it claimed the 2.5gb 720p file would be 5.5Gb after this processing! A gave it a shot anyway, but keep getting an error - "This operation cannot be completed (OSStatus error 38.)". Have to google that one some....
    It's not the end of the world if I can't import this one into iTunes. But it did make me a little surprised about the seemingly complete lack of debug logging for the application. With Apple's focus on user experience, the completely silent rejection of this file, with no feedback or error message is not right.
    Cheers
    Drew

  • Functional fnd debug logging

    Hai all,
    Am following one sr for which oracle advised to enable fnd debug logging for AP and to upload the FND debug logs .. so am following note 458371.1 .. So I enabled the profiles at the user level.. and execute a plsql proc with some runtime parameters ( as per the requirement from oracle).. and when am checking user_dump_dest for the FND logs I couldn't able to find any.

    Kai,
    You need to disable logging profile options in the application. For more details, please refer to this thread.

  • Need help to enable trace/logging for java debugging CRM 5.0 WebShop

    Dear experts,
    I'm new to sap, and i'm working on CRM 5.0 WebShop J2ee application with nwdi.
    I have to add a new functionnality, which has to call a custom FM in CRM. This FM has been tested and is OK.
    I have read the 2 files SAP_ISA50_DevAndExtGuide.pdf and ISA50_DevAndExtTuts_v1_0.pdf which have explain to me the process flow and organization of the framework.
    By helping me with the tutorials, I wrote all the files for my functionnality, from the jsp with the form, to the custom business backend with the call of the FM with parameters and JCo connection. (+ custom BOM, custom BO, BE interface, BE CRM implementation)
    Everything builds without error, and I deploy the application on my test env.
    Then I go to my webapp, I call the custom jsp with form, I put values, then I validate the form, but my FM is not called, and I don't know where is the problem, because I can't see a trace of the process flow, to know where is the error.
    By searching in this forum I found 2 notes that explain how to activate debug trace for all the application, one note for systems before SP11 and another for systems with SP11 and higher. But I don't know how to see the patchlevel of the system (I went to system information of the j2ee server and the on ly thing I can notice is below the server0 properties : Kernel Version:  7.00 PatchLevel.
    In these notes I read about Visual Administrator : I found this directly on the server with remote desktop, but the progress bar at the bottom of the window don't arrives to 100% and I can't see the properties and values of the parameters for the Log.
    I went to XCM too, and set appinfo and logfiledownload to true, then went to Logging into e-commerce administration console : in the Log configuration tab, I can create new configurations but the effective severity automatically sets to error, even if I set All or Debug manually ; in the session log tab, i tried to launch the application, then start log, then validate my form, then stop log, but I can't find anything about the trace of the process flow in the generated file.
    Please help, I have to finish this for end of week and I'm alone ...
    PS I'm french, and don't speak very well English please excuse me.
    Thank you very much.
    J. Lag.

    Yes. I did edit the torrc file since I wanted the log to be store in that file. Indeed
    ## Logs go to stdout at level "notice" unless redirected by something

    ## you want.
    ## We advise using "notice" in most cases, since anything more verbose

    ## Send all messages of level 'notice' or higher to /var/log/tor/notices.log
    #Log notice file /var/log/tor/notices.log
    ## Send every possible message to /var/log/tor/debug.log
    Log debug file /var/log/tor/debug.log
    ## Use the system log instead of Tor's logfiles
    Log notice syslog
    ## To send all messages to stderr:
    #Log debug stderr
    I missed the file systemd uses to choose who's the process owner.
    Course, I could edit /usr/lib/systemd/system/tor.service such that root will become the process owner; or, I could add the user I use everyday in the root group, then change the permission of /var/log/tor/debug.log such that it will be writable also for the folks in the root group.
    Yet they both seems to be a bit unsafe ...
    What is the best choice, to you guys?

  • Ways to activate debug log on JavaFX 8 / support for bug reports ?

    Hello,
    Since, there is to much time until next march, I've downloaded the JDK8 u 87 and started to play with JavaFX 8. Very nice things, but I am going into a lot of obscure bugs
    * For example, when closing an application that does only CSS styling I keep getting this exception when closing the window:
    java.lang.NullPointerException
         at com.sun.glass.ui.View.notifyRenderingEnd(View.java:352)
         at com.sun.javafx.tk.quantum.PaintCollector.done(PaintCollector.java:308)

         at com.sun.javafx.tk.quantum.QuantumRenderer$PipelineRunnable.run(QuantumRenderer.java:129)
         at java.lang.Thread.run(Thread.java:724)
    This happens 15% of the time. The same story ( but different exception ) for a simple application for playing with sliders.
    I would open some bugs but 2 things come to my mind:
    * are there any ways to activate debug log so that developers see a bit more that just a stack trace?
    * I saw on JavaFX 2 jira that you can't attach files to an issue, so basically how can I report stuff that prove things if I can't attach any file?

  • What is the extension for debug log file name?

    Hi,
    1) Please let me know what is the extension for debug log file....
    is it .dbg or .log ?
    in one of the sr the service engineer asked to put .log as the extension is this correct?
    here is what he said...
    a) Enable the following Profiles at user level:
    OM: Debug Level = 5
    INV: Debug Trace = YES
    INV: Debug Level = 11
    INV: Debug File = [directory value from above query]/logfilename.log
    (make sure that you have write permission for this file and directory)
    WSH: Debug Enabled - Yes
    WSH: Debug Level - Statement
    2) do the end-user (for whom trace is enabled) need to have read and write permissions on the directory and the log file?
    Thanks

    (make sure that you have write permission for this file and directory) It is what you set in the value of "INV: Debug File" profile option (according to the above value, it will be logfilename.log).
    2) do the end-user (for whom trace is enabled) need to have read and write permissions on the directory and the log file?No, just make sure the directory is writable by the oracle and applmgr users.
