Debug many forms in Oracle 6i

I do not write very good English. I hope that I can describe my problem.
I would like to debag my application in Forms 6i. The application has many forms and would like to follow the code execution.
Unfortunately, in the Form Builder (version 6i) I can debug only one form. I would first form will run in debug, and then set a breakpoint in another form. Is this possible in Oracle Forms 6i?

ifrun60.EXE your_form.fmx record=collect log=c:\log_file.logBetter known as "Forms Runtime Diagnostics", this will produce a log file of everthing that occurs in the Forms Session. I suggest you start with one Form and then review the log file to familiarize yourself with the log file output. This log file will include everything from rendering an item on a canvas to querying data to execution of triggers and program units, but it is very criptic. It is also very useful and I have solved numerous issues using this method, but it is not an easy method to use since the output is difficult to follow. Like I said, log a single form; look at the log file and make sure you can follow the change of events and then run your application.

How to debug a form module (Oracle 11G Forms) through URL.
My server OS is Unix. So i could not able to do the Debug Forms from the Form Developer.
It is displaying a message that "Cannot find the module". Becuase the system is trying find out the module in Unix system instead of ma local system(Windows).
I need to debug ma module through URL.
I can place the fmb and fmx in predefined form path in Server.
Please help me out to solve this issue..

This is a little unclear. If your goal is to use the Forms Builder Debugger while running your form on a Unix machine, this can be done. However, the form must first be in running order. So before trying to attach the debugger you must first be able to start it without the debugger. For example:
    http://yourServer:OHS_port_number/forms/frmservlet?form=yourFMX
Once this is properly running you can turn on debugging. If your form won't even start, then using the Debugger isn't going to help you because it is designed to troubleshoot coding problems and not configuration problems.
So, do this to use the Debugger:
    http://yourServer:OHS_port_number/forms/frmservlet?form=yourFMX&debug=yes
This will display a dialog box with some information. Do not click on OK yet as you will need this information to enter into the Forms Builder. Now, open the Forms Builder and click on Debug > Attach Debug. You will be asked for the information displayed in the dialog where you attempted to start the form. Enter it here (in the Builder) then click on ok in both places. To display the Debugger (in the Builder), click on Debug > Debug Console. Then from its toolbar click on the buttons related to what you want to monitor. Including a break point in your application code is often a more helpful way to use the debugger.
Most of this information is explained in the Forms Builder Online Help
    Forgot to mention...
To debug runtime issues, refer to the Forms Deployment Guide here (this assumes you are using 11.1.2):

  • From MS Access One-to-Many Form to Oracle Express

    Hello, hello,
Firstly, I am new at Oracle and interested to really getting into out, however, I am a little ancy to get going. I'm looking for some sharp direction that could direct me to exactly what I need to do right now and then I can do further study, etc.
I have a MS Access database with many tables, queries, etc. But I set up a fancy form whereby I could scroll to the name (let's say EMPLOYEE) and then I have about 10 different forms (a tabbed interface because there were so many) show up where I could input data about that employee specifically. Then when I scroll to the next person, all of the subforms would change accordingly.
Thus, ultimately, what I would like to do using Oracle Express and APEX is to set up a page where I have a region which will pull a list of employees and act as a menu, then when someone select an employee (i.e., not only me) then all information, from numerous different tables pulls up and is visible, editable and can be added to. There could be a region for addresses, a region for links, for notes, for photos, for a list of articles, or whatever.
I hope you track with what I am looking at. In Access I have numerous tables, then I create a monstrous one-many relationship thingamajiggy and ka-boom, things all fit together in a form, and subforms. All editable by me, but hardly available for anyone else. I know Oracle is the way to go, so...
Can you assist me by explaining what I need to implement in Oracle? I am not clear on JOINs and what's the right one to use, how to adequately connect all of the dots, etc. Do I need to set up fancy queries, create SQL statements or what?
    Thanks.

Thanks. I don't think my question is strictly APEX related.
Rather, I am trying to determine how to create a "one-to-many" relationship (to use MS Access terminology) in Oracle Express. And then solve how to add data to them.
I can create a view which links two tables together where I can add data, but I want to be able to be adding data to several tables all linked together from the same primary key. One row per person (or employee) won't handle this, particularly if you want to add more than one row of data about the person in a table.
For example, if I had a restaurant with four employees (a cook, a waitress, a baker and a cleaner), my employees table would only have four rows. But now if I wanted to record the types of desserts the baker could make, that would take up more than one row. Therefore, from the baker, it would have to link to another table where I could input data about the different desserts. Typical one-to-many relationship. But the baker can also make different kinds of bread, thus another table with several rows. Perhaps the baker is so good, I may want to have yet another table for his different supremely delicious and famous pies (apple, pumpkin, pecan, etc.) which is now another table. The options are endless, but they all connect to the baker.
As a result, someone could come to my application and ask what can the baker do, and it will pull up a table of desserts, a table of pies and a table of breads.
Once I figure that out and can link many tables together using one primary key, then I presume I can easily move into the web application aspect. But for now, I am not quite there yet.
If someone can at least direct me as to what this is called in Oracle and give me a little direction, then I will feel more confident in moving forward. Thanks again!

  • How to find users machine / IP who is accessing forms through Oracle AS

    Dear Gurus
We need to know the users machine / IP who are accessing forms through Oracle 9i Application Server, how can we find that?
    thanks in advance
    regards
    Mehmood

    Mehmood,
Set serverURL=/forms90/f90servlet/session in the Forms Web configuration default section or add it to the URL to start tracing host name and ip-addresses from clients. The output appears in the servlet log file application.log. sessionperf , perf and debug are the other options instead of session.

  • Identify forms in Oracle forms Builder

    Hi every one,
I am very very new to Oracle forms and Oracle Builder, how can we find the complexity of a form and also a report, I have the access to the Oracle forms builder and Oracle report builder, Can any one help me how to move further and, how to identify. It would be really great thing, If any one helps me As soon as possible.
    waiting for your suggestions.
    Thanks,
    raki

Is see you double posted this thread, and the other one is also a bit vague.
It is not such a straightforward task to specify complexity. You have to have a good working knowledge of the system. I can give you example about one of our forms. It looks really simple: type in some identifier, and it will show you all open invoices of a customer, Press a button for full or partly payment of the invoices and receipts will be printed.
This involves many things in the background, like checking the financial system. It looks simple (one when-button-pressed trigger), but is very complex indeed.
If you want to migrate from Forms to Apex, you should properly plan it. If you have no experience at all in your company for such a project, you might want to contact a specialized company.

  • Debugging PL/SQL in Oracle

    Hi there,
I'm needing some help on features of Oracle PL/SQL and the Oracle server. Does oracle provide a way for a user to debug SQL and/or PL/SQL statements? I'm currently using Oracle 8x and looking to probably use Oracle 9 or later version in the future. I don't use Oracle directly very much (it's our database server to a PowerBuilder 8 application) so I'm not aware of all its features. Thanks alot for any feedback and info you can give. :-)

You can monitor the activity in the database with many features, with oracle 8.X, you can turn the trace on, and generate statistics for every sentence which is sent to the oracle server. In the other hand you can use 3rd party tools, for example, Patrol Module for Oracle but you need some infraestructure for using it, or you can try with the Oracle Expert which is part of the Oracle Tunning Pack or you can use SQL Lab (for tuning the statements you suspect are not as perfect in performance as you could wish), sql lab is from quest software.
Trancing users with sql_trace=true can generate a lot of information taht you can format and analyze it with tkprof utility. This is kind of heavy work, but if you do not want to buy another tool, this is an option.
    Hope this helps.

  • Make form in oracle 12 c

    hi al ,
i just shifted from oracle 10 g to 12 c after installing  jdeveloper suite i want to make forms and report like in 10 g  how can do it ?

Before going much further, I recommend you read the following:
    http://blogs.oracle.com/shay/entry/10_commandments_for_the_otn_fo
Keep in mind that almost all Oracle products using product names that include something like "10g", "11g", "12c", etc.  So when you post something and simply say "I'm using 10g..."  This doesn't tell us anything.  You could be referring to the database, Application Server, Forms, Reports, Designer, or one of many other products.  When posting, be sure to use product names AND versions.  A version number should include a set of at least 3 numbers.  For example, 11.1.2, 10.1.2, 11.2.0, etc....
As for your question, I can only guess as to what you are asking.  It seems like you are saying you downloaded and installed JDeveloper 12.1.x and think you can build Oracle Forms or Oracle Reports applications with it.  If this is correct, you cannot.  Jdeveloper is for developing Java applications.  Information about the latest Oracle Forms vesion can be found on the Oracle Forms OTN page here:

  • Help for designing the same forms like Oracle form!!!

    Hi everyone!
I am working for some projects and now I want to make a form like Oracle form, there are some features in Oracle form that I don't know how to do the same so I would like to ask someone here. Please help me to design form like the form I mention below. I mean when I open my form, it must be the same with Query Material after that I press Enter then it must be the same Material Workbench form. Please help me!!! Thanks in advanced.
Inventory => On-hand Availability => On-hand Quantity, it will display Query Material Form then Enter after that it will display Material Workbench.

Hi, welcome to the forums. Please take a few minutes to reveiw the following:
    <ul>
<li> Before posting on this forum please read
<li> 10 Commandments for the OTN Forums Member
<li> Announcement: Forums Etiquette / Reward Points
    </ul>
If you follow these general guidelines, you will greatly increase your chances of getting a solution to your question in a shorter period of time. While your questions may make sense to you - when you post a question here, you have to remember that we do not have the same point of reference as you. You can't assume we will understand vague references like *"I want to make a form like Oracle form"*. I've seen so many different UI variations in Oracle Forms that a blanket statement like this has no meaning. The only thing that limits the funtionality of a Form is your imagination.
Perhaps, after reviewing the aforementioned articles, you could provide us with some basic information like your Oracle Forms version, Browser and version, OS and version and a more detailed description of the type of functionality you are trying to emulate. With this information, we (the Forum participants) will be better able to help you.

  • Can you "debug" a form when running on the App. Server?

We recently got a project to do defect fixing of a Oracle Forms 10g application.
They have given us each developer a VM with an app. server, source code etc.
Problem is, we cannot run the form using the Form Builder.
They want us to always make changes to the form, deploy in the app. server and run the form using the Application Menu.
Problem is, how can we do line-by-line debugging in a situation like this?
Normally, we would press the "Run form debug" button to run the form in Forms developer in debug mode.
    What is the solution?
Should we ask the owners to give us permission to run the form from Developer?
Or, is there way to do debugging a form when running from app. server?

    user12240205 wrote:
So Craig, why is it prompting me with a File Open dialog box when it tries to run a DB procedure?
What does the Forms debugger supposed to do? Run it and bring back result?
Because Forms doesn't know how to load the object so it is prompting you to open it.  However, since the Forms debugger can't read the source of the database program unit (procedure, package, function) - you can't debug it from Forms.  At least, I've never been able to do it and I've tried making Forms open a source file for a database program unit.  It basically boils down to the fact that Oracle Forms can only debug objects that are within the scope of the Forms runtime/builder and database program units are not contained within the Forms objects (eg; Forms binary, PL/SQL Library or Menu Module binary).  I recommend you "Step-Over" any call to a database program unit when you encounter them in the Forms debugger.  The database program unit will take longer than normal to run, but it will eventually finish and take you to the next line of code to be executed.

  • How to make a billing forms in oracle forms 6.0?

hi,i want to make a sample billing form in oracle forms.my fields details

    selling_price number(5);

    total number(6);
i have no idea about billing application.if i want to make "subtotal" and "total" as database item?,i only want to show the total price on "total" and "subtotal" fields.i will make "total" field as single record item.and set all others are 10 records displayed.please help me further.i want sellingprice*quantity=subtotal.at last i want to get subtotal+subtotal+n(sum of all subtotal)=total.total is a single display field at bottom.if we entered all items i want to show the total at bottom.i know my concept is so stupid.please help me to make a proper forms.real thanks for reading my question.

I think you've got worse problems than building the form.
First you need a proper data model. Billing will involve more than one table, with master - detail relations and that kind of very nice things that a database can achieve.
Then, once you have designed a datamodel that fits your requirements, you will have to build the form with the builder. It is not a hard tool, but needs a minimum learning.
Don't take me wrong, but I don't think you can come here and ask such a generic issue.

  • How can i debug a Form in 6i environment

I want to debug a form in 6i environment. WIth trace utility can i do it?if yes pls help me in this

Why not just use the "Run Form Debug" toolbar button or Program => Run Form => Debug? Just simply type "break;" in the trigger or Program Unit you want the Debugger to break in and step through the code to see what is happening. Running the Form in Diagnostics Mode as Draji suggests is an excellent option as well, but reading the output file can be a bit daunting and doesn't let you "See" what your code is doing. The Forms debugger is an excellent tool. It is well worth learning how to use.
You can also turn Debug Messages on - which basically just displays an alert with the name of each trigger that executes. You can turn on the Debug Messages from: Tools => Preferences => Runtime tab => Debug Messages checkbox.
    Hope this helps.

I should have said in the ticket that this is version 11.5.10
It was close to giving me the answer I need. It gives me the following details. Unfortunately it doesn't give me the underlying sql. I hhave tried using v$session and sys.v_$sql but the sql is over 1000 characters long so I dont get to see the table/object being referenced.
    I appreciate the feedback.
