Debug server side action script

Hi, I want to debug the server side action scripts code, such as set the breakpoint, display the local variables in run time, etc. The trace() is not that efficient. Does anyone suggest a better debug tool for server side action scription? Thanks,
Regards,
erwin

I am using the flash media server. The admin console can view the log/status. What about setting the breakpoint and displaying the local variables? Thanks,

  • Server-Side Development/Debugging???

    I've been devloping JSP/Servlets and Beans for over a year now and have never been completely happy with my development environment. Currently, I'm using a text editor, .bat scripts for builds and system.out.println() for debugging. I'm looking into emacs as the editor, ant for the builds, but am unclear on a good approach for debugging server-side applications. Any suggestions?
    -thanks

    You can get development environments that allow you to debug servlets and JSPs, but I don't know of any that are free like your current setup. I'm using VisualAge for Java (Enterprise Edition), which debugs those things quite nicely, but I'm glad that I didn't have to pay for it myself. There are more products you could look at besides VAJ.

  • Weirdness involving IE, JSP, data scraping and server-side redirecting

    I have a JSP script that validates inputted data. Upon successful input, it will
    1) set a cookie
    2) Do a data scrape to a URL that points to a servlet that performs server-side actions based upon query string data that is formed from your input
    3) Redirect back to itself to ensure cookie availablity and further actions.
    If you run this script on Netscape or Firefox, all is well.
    If you run this script on IE, while [2] works, it seems to be performing [2] twice, because the actions are duplicated (the actions in [2] consist of placing info into flat files so you can see what is going on).
    Does IE have a problem with data scraping + server-side redirection (I am using response.sendRedirect()) that I don't know about?
    Thanx

    The problem is that right after having logged in, while you're still in the filter, the beans managed by JSF haven't been put into any scope yet. (The faces servlet hasn't been called yet, so it hasn't had the chance to instantiate the managed beans, put them into the appropriate scopes etc.) So it is request scoped? Just create one yourself. I however don't see any benefit/reason for having the logged in user in the request scope ..

  • Error 408 on saving server side script

    When I save my server side scripts via the azure portal I receive an error 408 on one of my mobile services account. The same problem occurs when trying to create a new custom api, for example:
    The following API was not created: 'user'. Error 408
    At first I thought there was a problem with the azure service, but it seems to only occur on this one specific mobile service. I think it started after I added a dependency to the package.json file. But that could have been coincidence. The exact same dependency
    doesn't cause any problems on another mobile service.
    Looking at the deployment logs I do see an error occured during deployment, however I have no idea what caused it:

    I've been trying to save my scripts for the better part of a day, so any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Second day and I still can't save my scripts and thus not able to continue my work. Is there anyone from microsoft that could shed some light on this problem? For some reason adding dependencies to the node.js project stops it from being able to deploy.

  • Server side script not running on stand-alone XE

    Hello,
    In my application I created a Server side script (AJAX) which presents a select-list based on other fields on the page. The very same application runs on a 10g+APEX3.0.1 database AND on a standard XE+APEX2.1 database, which are both accessed via a HTTP-server. The application with the script runs fine on this platform (XP).
    I have two other XP-machines on which I also installed XE+APEX2.1. Both are stand-alone versions NOT accessed via a HTTP-server. I installed exactly the same application which runs on the platform with HTTP server on both of the machines. While testing the correct functioning, I noticed that everything works ok, EXCEPT the server side script which gives me a better select list. Instead of this I get the old-fashioned version of the select-list which is not able to use the value elsewhere on the page.
    I found a similar problem on the XE forum (Re: Server side scripts features ) but it doesn't answer my question how to get the script working on a standalone version of XE (= without access via a HTTP-server).
    Can anybody please help me?
    Thanks & regards,
    Jan.

    Carl,
    Thanks for your suggestion to install FireFox and the Firebug tool (which I wasn't aware of).
    After having looked at the problem for hours, I found what I think is the problem: the htmldb_html_elements.js script.
    As already mentioned, the properly functioning XE on my local PC is accessed via a HTTP-server, as well as the 10gR2+APEX3.0.1 version also running on that PC.
    On the laptop, not running HTTP-server, I get the message: <br>
    <FONT COLOR="RED">$x is not defined <BR>
    <FONT COLOR="BLUE"> f_21_select_kpn<FONT COLOR="RED">(<FONT COLOR="BLUE">input<FONT COLOR="BLACK">#P21_GBREKNR 405<FONT COLOR="RED">, "P21_KOSTENPOST") <BR>
    <FONT COLOR="BLUE">onblur<FONT COLOR="RED">(<FONT COLOR="BLACK">blur <FONT COLOR="RED">)
    </FONT><BR>
    That is in the 'Console' of Firebug.
    When changing to Script I do see a remarkable difference.
    On the PC there the following text is found in the first lines of htmldb_html_elements.js:
    /*htmld_elements will contain the lower level html access js*/<br>
    var gDebug = true;<br>
    var gkeyPressTime;<br>
    var gLastTab=false;<br>
    var gRegex=false;<br>
    var ie=(document.all)?true:false;<br>
    if(ie){document.expando=true;}<br>
    var gDebugWindow = false;<br>
    /*<br>
    $x functions have to do with either single elements or array of elements<br>
    $v functions have to have to do with manipulating values or interaction based off a value<br>
    $xml function have to do with manipulating xml values<br>
    $a functions are based on ajax<br>
    $d functions are specific dhtml constructs<br>
    */<br>
    /* begin $x functions */<br>
    function $x(pNd){<br>
    try{<br>
    var node;<br>
    ...<br><br>
    On the laptop however the first few lines are:<br><br>
    /*htmld_elements will contain the lower level html access js*/<br>
    <br>
    var gDebug = true;<br>
    var gkeyPressTime;<br>
    var gLastTab=false;<br>
    var gRegex=false;<br>
    if(document.all){document.expando = true;}<br>
    // Elements //<br>
    <br>
    function html_GetElement(pNd){<br>
    try{<br>
    var node;<br>
    switch(typeof (pNd)){<br>
    ...<br><br>
    I think that the difference is in these two scripts.
    But why are the scripts different: it is the same XE that is installed on the laptop and the PC.<br>The answer I found in the images/javascript directory of APEX3.0.1 which is located in the APACHE directory-tree (you have to copy the images to APACHE when you use the HTTP-server). And indeed: the htmldb_html_elements.js has exactly the same text as what I see in Firebug on the PC. So XE on the PC is using the javascripts in the image-directory of APACHE on the PC and not the XE-version of the scripts, embedded in XE.
    <br><br>
    So the answer seems to be: copy the APEX3.0.1 versions of the script over to the PC and try to get them into the database. Or...???
    <br>
    Can it be loaded into the database? Will XE accept it?
    <BR><br>
    Would be nice to have answers if the conclusion I found is the right one and if it can be fixed by loading the js into XE.
    <br>
    Best regards and thanks for your help so far.
    <br>

  • Updating form with server-side scripts

    Hi
    For security reasons, we want to do a web service call with only server side scripts. That way we have full control over the access to the wsdl and no problems with the security.
    However, if I try to run the scripts on server-side I get no update of the data in the form... so what to do to solve that problem? Anybody with experience from that?

    To make a small update I've been messing around with various different things to be able to achieve the goal. One of the initial problems was that the Designer actually manages to create two different SOAP addresses, one of them is the correct and secure way and the other one is direct to the data source, which would be an unsecure and blocked route. That changed things a bit when I realized that.
    But still, the problem remains. If I run the script Client-Side, it works but is not an acceptable solution. If I run it Server-Side, it can't read the data and doesn't recognize the call to SOAP.connect()...
    Does anybody have any experience in webb service connection with server side scripts?

    The script is fine (at least i assume u want the timer working with no errors). The thing is that u can't put any code nor apps on the edge node. Put it on the origin and hook up your edge to that origin.

    Someone has any tutorial or document link when migrate from FMS 3.5 to Fms 4.5.

    If you are talking about Server-side script - your server-side script should work as it - if its working in 3.5 it should work without any changes in 4.5

    the php errors don't seem mahor although they seem to have i have another iisue or are the related
    but that aside
    If I move the include file to the same level as the pade with approprirate include statement no problem it works
    if i move it to a subditrectory  then it doesn't work
    summary
    i can get SSI to work for page on the root level using Includes from a subdirectory
    but on other level I must have the include in the same directory with the page
    any thoughts??

    Your menu links are inside an include file.  There should be nothing else inside that file except the list tags, classes & hyperlinks.  Links are relative to the parent page(s) in which they will occur.
    All supporting scripts and CSS go inside the parent page -- in your case, the Template.dwt file.
    Local Files Panel:
         -Includes
              menu.html
              footer.html
         +Styles
         +SpryAssets
         -Templates
              main.dwt
         about.shtml
         contact.shtml
         index.shtml
         services.shtml
    Problems will occur if you use document relative link paths with pages that are located inside sub and sub-sub folders. Obviously, you want to avoid doing that.  For best results, keep all your site pages at root level.
    Hope this helps,

  • Receive Action Script Error #2130

    My system is running Windows 8 and IE10. I have continuing problems installing and using Flash Player. I have read and reread the online procedures, checks, and solutions without much luck. Most recently after several failed attempts I was able to download the latest version of Flash Player for Windows 8 with Internet Explorer. My email account is with Outlook, which defaults to MSN.com when I sign out. When the MSN.com homepage appears I shortly receive an error message that says there is an Action Script Error #2130 and a list of affected files, including flash. I am unable to perform any other functions while this message is displayed. The message block gives me two options: Dismiss or Continue. The error message clears when I click either option, and the MSN.com homepage seems to operate normally. However, there are other issues with MSN.com which I have addressed to their support. Basically, if I click on a news headline in order to read the full article, the screen that appears is mis-formatted and unreadable. Ihave a screen capture of the error message noted above. I have tried the solutions suggested in Adobe Support, but they did not resolve the underlying issues. Please help, /hugh
    I noticed a related RE: discussion on the side of my question. When I went there I followed staff instructions to another person with similar problems. When I checked my installed version, I saw that it was the latest version for my system, but also saw debug at the bottom of the page. I then proceeded to uninstall Flash Player as staff instructions said to do. After I received the message that uninstall was successful, I again checked my installled version. It was the same as before including that it was the debug version. I repeated this action several times with the same result. Don't understand what this new problem is or how to proceed from this point.

    Thanks Pat - Sorry if I have been terse. This is not a good time for me as my Old Man [not my Father] is in failing health and requires a lot of care. Didn't need the added burden of two known problems in my computer system which no one seems to know the answer to. At least part of the problem with my email/MSN.com went away. At present I do not get an ActionScript Error #2130 when I sign out of my Outlook email account, which defaults to MSN.com. The other problem with MSN.com is still present, but so far I have not received any support from their techies, just several boilerplate messages.
    However, you are helping with my problem with Flash Player. I discovered it when trying to find the cause for the ActionScript error. I went to Adobe Support Center and began with the several guide sheets I found there. When I did the steps to find the installed] version, which by the way are contained on several different sheets, I found the version of FP installed was not the latest version. I am aware that as I have Windows 8 and IE10 changes should come down from Microsoft, so I was surprised. I tried Update Windows but there were no updates available other than an optional update to install Bing Desktop which I have installed several times, but it remains on the list as an optional update that has not been installed. As I have thought and said many times since I upgraded to Windows 8, it should have been more thoroughly debugged before they rushed it to the retail market. But that too is not an Adobe problem.
    I tried all the procedures and checks on all of the Adobe FP guide sheets I found on their support center website several times before to my surprise when I redid the steps to find the currently installed version the lastest version of FP: FP 11.7.700.169 was shown as the installed version. This was over a week ago and after I found Guide Sheet: Adobe Flash Player Support Center/Downloads at: http://www.adobe.com/support/flashplayer/downloads.html. In addition to providing a path to download the latest version of FP, it provides a list of critical updates and downloads to correct known problems in Flash Player. I downloaded every update I found that seemed to apply to my system.
    I then checked to see if the Flash Player Action Script error message was now cleared. To my dismay it was not. Ever since I have been trying to correct that problem. It was not until after I posted this question here and you started to respond and discovered that although the latest version of FP is now installed - it is the DEBUG version, which you have told me I must uninstall and then install the standard version. That is where I learned that even though I am able to download the Adobe Flash Player Uninstaller and run it and get a message that the uninstall was successful, when I check using the Find Version procedure, I am told the latest version of FP is still installed and it is the DEBUG version.
    I have tried reinstalling the latest version, but this procedure does not work either. When I click to download Flash Player all I get is a blank Adobe box on the screen. It asks me to select a region. I select the US, There is a DOWNLOAD tab at the top which I also select. Then nothing happens. This tell me something is not working properly with this procedure.
    So I am stuck at a point where Adobe Find Version procedures tells me the latest DEBUG version of Flash Player for my system, FP11.7.700.169, is installed in my system and working properly,but I am told I must uninstall the DEBUG version and install the standard version of FP. However, the Adobe Flash Player Uninstaller does not work on my system and the Adobe Flash Player Installer does not work on my system.
    On the other hand as far as I have been able to determine Flash player is working properly as I am able to view videos on various websites, including MSN.com. And after deleting several Flash Player files I searched and found, the FP ActionScript Error #2130 has apparently stopping showing up when I am defaulted to MSN.com when I sign out of OUTlook email. I am so confused, irritated, and frustrated. I agree someone from Adobe Support should take a look at what I am reporting and determine if I have an Adobe Flash Player problem, and if so, FIX IT!
    Thanks again for taking the lead Pat, /hugh
