Debugging Java classes based on IProgramBaseEx

I developed my own class implementing the IProgramBaseEx interface.
MyOwnClass is being loaded and its run method is executed.
The code throws some runtime errors maybe due to some logical programming errrors:
I can schedule a program object that has been created through the CMC
and view its output as the content of a processes InfoView instance;
from there I am able to see the exceptions thrown.
I would like to enter a debugging session using JPDA under Eclipse 3.4;
the Tomcat process is running with debugging args under VmWare,
and I can attach to the remote process from Eclipse, which is running on my workstation (not whitin the VmWare machine);
[at least I can see all those ORBacus daemon threads from Tomcat for BOEXIR2 SP5].
My problem:
The debuggger process does not suspend on breakpoints
(e.g. right after entering the implemented IProgramBaseEx.run() method).
Maybe this is a class loading problem?
Any hints on how to stop at breakpoints in MyOwnClass are appreciated...

Program Objects are run by the Program Job Server, and not the Web App Server.
I personally don't know of a way to alter the Job Server child process spawn command-line, to be able to set JVM properties for remote debugging.
I usually old school it, as you do.
Sincerely,
Ted Ueda

  • Issue with Java Class based DataControls.

    Hi,
    I'm actually working with JDev 11.1.1.3.0.
    And we got a requirement to build a search page which should create a dynamic query. And we are not using ADF BC in this project.
    Instead, writing some ServiceDelegates(Java Classes) which internally calls EJB services to do CRUD operations.
    Finally, created DataControls using these Service Delegates to design UI.
    Now one thing is clear that .... we are using java class based service delegates.
    *Issues
    =======
    1. I have a table with 4 columns, in which 2 columns are of type selectOneChoice.
    2. Now, based on first selectOneChoice selection ... second selectOneChoice should display corresponding values. It is something like this. First select one choice contains all KEYS. Based on the KEY selection second select OneChoice should display VALUES corresponding to the KEY.
    3. I have around 20 KEYS in the first selectOneChoice.
    4. User can add rows to the table as many as they want.
    5. For each row, the first selectOneChoice is same(contains same keys).
    The issue is, For the first time(when user logs into the screen ....) the table will be displayed with one row which contains 2 selectOnechoices and 2 inputText boxes and a ADD button at the end of each row.
    1. User selected a KEY from first selectOneChoice. Hence, second selectOneChoice populates values corressponding to KEY. And user clicked on ADD button.
    2. Now the first row was like that only. And a new Row got added to the table.
    3. In the second row ... Now user selected a different KEY in first selectOneChoice. And the second selctOneChoice displayed values corresponding to KEY selected.
    4. This is also fine. But now, when user tried to click on ADD button to add THIRD ROW ... the table got added with a new row.
    5. Here is the problem.... From here onwards, whenever any new row get added to the table ... the first row's second selectOneChoice values are setting with values of second row's secondSelectOneChoice.
    6. Finally ... what i'm trying to do is, the second selectOneChoice should not get affected/refreshed because of adding a new row.
    If it is not clear ... please share your email address. I can share the sample code with you.
    This is an high priority task given to me.
    Please let me know your comments ASAP.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Kiran Konjeti

    You could try the following to see where the class was loaded from.
    System.out.println(ResourcesAndRatesForm.class.getProtectionDomain().getCodeSource());

  • Debug java class called from CF?

    I'm experiencing different behaviour with a Java class called from a CF page to the same class called directly from Java code.
    Is it possible for me to step into the Java class and debug it in CF builder if I attach the correct Java source?
    Pressing F5 (step-in) on the line that the method is called just skips straight over.

    This page does many things that are typical of a web page like displaying information and presenting rich and graphical controls
    but some of this controls are connected to a java application, launched from the web page or viceversa.I don't get this "launched from the web page" business. Is that a requirement or are you describing an existing system? Or are you describing somebody else's system whose architecture you want to imitate? Or are you using the word "launched" simply to describe the action of starting an applet?
    It still isn't clear to me what you are trying to describe. But at any rate if you want a Java program to run in your browser, that's an applet. Note that applets can interact with Javascript code in the page they are embedded in. Or if you want to download a Java application which acts as a separate application, i.e. it still runs when the browser is closed, you can use Web Start for that.

  • Debug java classes

    Is it possible or how to debug or profile imported java classes in Forms ? How to monitor this classes : how much memory / cpu they are using .

    Hi,
    there is no option in Forms to monitor imported Java files. One reason is that Forms only generates PLSQL wrappers for Java methods, but doesn't do anything with the Java classes itself. To profile Java classes, use the Java profiler in JDeveloper in a stand alone execution of the Java. It should behave the same if called from Forms or in stand alone

  • Is there a way to create a Java class based on what's defined in a schema?

    I have a set of schemas that define what messages I will get as an XML stream (sent as UDP packets). Is there a way to parse the schemas into a set of java classes that match the fields in the schema? If so, next think would be to feed a string or byte array to instances of these objects and have a method that parses it and fills all the fields. But is the first part possible? Somebody linked http://www.cafeconleche.org/books/xmljava/chapters/ in another thread, but that seems to be for regular XML, not schema, unless I'm confused which is entirely possible, I'm new to XML and using it in Java in this way.

    For future reference, [Java API for XML Binding|http://www.dummies.com/WileyCDA/DummiesArticle/Building-Custom-Code-with-Java-API-for-XML-Binding-JAXB-.id-1489,subcat-BUILDING.html] (JAXB) allows for [generation of Java classes|http://www.oracle.com/technology/pub/articles/marx-jse6.html] from XML Schema (or even DTD) using its xjc compiler.

  • How to produce Java class from xsd programmatically?

    As titled, I want to generage Java class/interface from xml schema via a program. There is a tool "xjc" that can do this manually.
    I saw a sample that generates xsd file from Java class programmatically, I am figuring out if there is such a API to do the similar thing vice versa.
    Thank you in advance!

    You may want to check out this Java EE 5 Tutorial: http://docs.oracle.com/javaee/5/tutorial/doc/bnbah.html
    It has an example of generating JAXB Java classes from an XML schema.
    Can you provide a sample xsd schema and the resulting Java class/classes you want to have produced?
    XMLBeans can use an xsd and generate Java classes for containing/manipulating XML objects, though I don't think that is what you are wanting.
    You can also write an XSLT stylesheet that generates Java classes based on parameters that you provide to the stylesheet but there is no xsd schema involved. We used this at a major national bank to produce Java classes for batch processing of files sent/received between the bank and third pary companies. The Java classes generated were used to read/write delimited files, xml files and fixed format files to/from Java bean classes with the necessary getters/setters for manipulating the data.
    Without a sample of what you are trying to doi it is hard to offer much help.

  • Securing Web Services based on simple Java Classes

    Hi @all!
    We`ve got the following problem.

    We can`t use this menu because it has got a javascript bug with methods returning

    Hi Michael,
    Could you use transport level security, SSL [1]?
    I'm not sure what limitation you are experiencing with the console? Is
    there a traceback? Have you contacted customer support on this issue?

  • Windows classpath vs java.class.path error in QuickTime based applet

    Hello
    I've spent days reading and searching the internet, and I'm still stumped why some Windows installations are not able to run my QuickTime for Java based applet even though QuickTime is installed (the specific error is: java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: quicktime/QTException). I have some additional details and a question that might spur someone to an insightful nudge.
    On a Windows system that fails:
    echo %classpath%
    .;C:\Program Files\QuickTime\QTSystem\QTJava.zipWhich is where QTJava.zip is found on the (faulty?) system, but java.class.path is just:
    java.class.path = C:\PROGRA~1\Java\jre6\classes
    Of the dumped system properties, only java.library.path makes any mention of the QTSystem folder (or any other QT or QuickTime related items).
    java.library.path = C:\Program Files\Safari;.;C:\Windows\Sun\Java\bin;C:\Windows\system32;C:\Windows;C:\PROGRA~1\Java\jre6\bin;C:\Windows\system32;C:\Windows;C:\Windows\System32\Wbem;C:\Windows\System32\WindowsPowerShell\v1.0\;C:\Program Files\QuickTime\QTSystem\
    I ran across one thread (elsewhere) where the user was having problems with loading some classes from a complex JAR environment, and a solution was to write a custom class loader. After doing so, the user got the same error "java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: quicktime/QTException" that was resolved by extending the custom class loader to include .zip files. I'm not sure if the solution is relevant, or if he simply broke something in his custom class loader that would have worked otherwise. I've not written a custom class loader and not sure where to begin, so before I ventured down that path I was hoping someone might shed some light as to if this is a dead end or potential solution. This is a signed applet (QuickTime now requires it, even if you are only playing files of the same server) and it does work on several Windows machines and all tested Macs.
    Thank you,

  • Forms 10.1.2 - Imported Java Classes are not running on JNI.NEW_OBJECT call

    Hi All,
    I've created a java class to call a webservice. This has been developed and tested in JDeveloper and works ok (using JDev Wizards - so it's generated code). I've created the JAR from it, imported the classes into Forms Builder and have my package and imported the java exception_ class too.
    So, everything compiles and looks good. When I run the application I can see in the console that my JAR is included in the loaded list. When I call the class (basing my code on the Forms Webservice example here on OTN) it doesn't work. I get the error ORA-6503 - function returns no value.
    I can step through the code in debug and it's in the generated constructor "new" function when the JNI.NEW_OBJECT is executed. I can't see into that so I'm a bit stuck ... I don't whether it's my java that is now failing or the system is failing to call it :
      FUNCTION new(
        a0    VARCHAR2) RETURN ORA_JAVA.JOBJECT IS
      BEGIN
        args := JNI.CREATE_ARG_LIST(1);
        JNI.ADD_STRING_ARG(args, a0);
        RETURN (JNI.NEW_OBJECT('oracle/forms/atrium/wsexport/proxy/AtriumExportWSSoapHttpPortClient', '(Ljava/lang/String;)V', args));
      END;Has anyone any experience or pointers for me ?
    Are there any extra JAR files I need to include in the CLASSPATH ?
    Forms Builder is 10.1.2.0.2, the Application Server is 10.1.2.3 and it JDeveloper 10 compiling Java 1.4. All on a Windows platform.
    TIA
    Steve

    Not sure if this is exact the document you are searching for, but this one works for me:
    http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/developer-tools/forms/webservices-forms-11g-094111.html
    It's for 11g, but I don't think there is much difference to 10g.
    Did you add your Jar file also to the classpath in the environment file of your webconfig?
    cheers

  • How to use java classes of DC1 in DC2

    When I was trying to use a java-class from another DC, I stumbled into an error I didn't expect:
    java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: com/company/application/utils
    This is what I did to get this far:
    1. Created an empty Web Dynpro DC (DC1), to be used as a utilities library.
    2. Added a Java class to the webdynpro project.
    3. Added the class to a public part of type compilation.
    4. Created a second Web Dynpro DC (DC2), which is supposed to consume the class from DC1.
    5. Added a DC-usage relation, so that DC1 is in DC2's used DCs. In this usage-relation built-time and run-time were checked
    5. Used DC1's class in DC2's component controller
    6. Built both DCs and deployed them
    7. Ran the application in DC2.
    When I run the application, the application dumps a stack trace at the moment that and object is created based on the class in DC1.
    Any idea how to get this working?
