Debugging Webflow on Portal 4.0

Hi,
does anyone know how to enable debugging for webflow.
I have tried adding the following line to debug.properties
com.bea.p13n.appflow.webflow.servlets.internal.WebflowServlet=true
and I have tried putting the debug.properties file in every possible location
without success.
Are there any other properties in start scripts, environment etc that have to
be set?
We are running wlp4.0 and have a separate directory structure for our application
(i.e. not the installation directory)
Thanks,
Mikkel

Or, BEA Support told me to use this approach:
usePackageNames: on
com.bea.campaign.internal.CampaignManager
com.bea.campaign.internal.ScenarioManager
com.bea.commerce.ebusiness.discount.mgmt.internal.DiscountPersistenceManager
com.bea.p13n.appflow.pipeline.internal.PipelinePersistenceManager
com.bea.p13n.appflow.webflow.internal.WebflowExtensionPersistenceManager
com.bea.p13n.appflow.webflow.internal.WebflowPersistenceManager
com.bea.p13n.management.data.repository
com.bea.p13n.management.data.repository.persistence.JdbcPersistenceManager
com.bea.p13n.management.data.repository.PersistenceManager
com.bea.p13n.management.data.transport
com.bea.p13n.placeholder.internal.PlaceholderPersistenceManager
com.bea.p13n.property.internal.PropertySetPersistenceManager
com.bea.p13n.rules.manager.internal.AggregatingPersistenceManager
com.bea.p13n.rules.manager.internal.RuleSetPersistenceManager
com.bea.portal.admin.internal.persistence.delegate.JdbcPersistenceManager
com.bea.portal.admin.internal.persistence.delegate.PersistenceManager
com.bea.portal.admin.internal.persistence.delegate.PersistenceManagerFactory
com.bea.portal.manager.internal.persistence
com.bea.portal.manager.internal.persistence.PersistenceManager
com.bea.portal.manager.internal.PortalPersistenceManager
com.bea.portal.manager.internal.PortletPersistenceManager

Try the following in your debug.properties file (in wlportal4.0 directory):
usePackageNames=on
com.bea.p13n.appflow.webflow.servlets.internal.WebflowServlet=on
If you want to debug the entire package give:
com.bea.p13n.appflow.webflow.servlets.internal=on

• Debugging the STS Portal screen

Hi Guys,
Is it possible to debug the STS portal screen? I want to check what makes the buttons (such as reject/approve/send for revision) gray and available?

Each user gets a different view of this screen depending on authorizations and customising.
'Ordinary' planners should be authised only to see their relevant organisational entities in the STS; (role assignment should include object R_STS_PT). In which case the allowed or required buttons will be enabled unless the entity is locked. (Check the 'Present status' link from Details screen).
Super-users should be authorised to see an overview of the whole planning organisation (assignment should include object R_STS_SUP). In this case some buttons on the detail screen may be greyed out until activated using the 'Edit' button. Or check the 'Present status' in case of other users already locking the item.

Hi,
SE38 - program editor . You started posting Webdynpro ABAP.
However if you type in for example WD_THEMES or your program and press the debugger button should bring you to the debugger. IS this happening?
Normal debugging with out portal.

• Is struts the preferred way over webflow for portal 7/8?

Hi:
I am a newbie learning more about the portal server product. I notice that
webflow is no longer included the document bundle of portal server 7.1 and 8.1.
Can I safely assume that the trend is to move to struts instead of using webflow?
Also, how does the portlet JSR fit in?
Thanks,

• Debugging in SRM portal

Hi,
I am getting exception while creating PO from SC in some case and able to create PO for some SC cart. During this process it executes BADI implementation for BADI 'BBP_DOC_CHECK_BADI' . I am getting exception during execution of BADI.
Could you please tell how I could put breakpoint and debug in SRM through portal.
Thanks and Regards,

Hi
Please give system details - version and support packs.
For the time-being, dea-activate the active custome BADI Implementations (if any) [Name starting with Y or Z] in the SRM system using SE19 Transaction.
Then repeat the process of debugging.

May the problem be that AMSDK need additional configuration for datastore?

Yes, copy config is enabled in all organisations.
I also tried to create an ldap data store instead of amsdk, but same behavior.
I have "fixed" the issue through a hack now by creating my own ldap login module, simply copied the original one and replaced LDAPPrincipal with my own version. It returns now a correct dn for the user in portal instead of the username only.
Works this way. Alas, it is just a hack...
As far as I can see, the problem is in the IDRepository. Its somewhat:
If (username is a DN) return username;
else return UniversalID;
This universal ID is then used by ps to get desktop information and since it is not a valid dn in ldap the desktop servlet cannot proceed...
I guess the problem does not appear in your environment. Maybe it was introduced with update 1? Do you use update 2?
Thanks, Chris

• Parsing a portlet in Portal

Hi all,
I have a requirement and we are trying to look for an approach that doesn't need development or at least not a huge development effort.
The scenario is the following. We have a portlet deployed in a JBoss server. This portlet is consumed by Webcenter Portal.
The portlet gives the following markup:
<div>form question</div>
<div>key</div>
Apart from that, there is an xml file sitting around as a static file. That xml contains relationships 1:1 with a key and a text.
When a user accesses the portal page with the portlet in it, it is desired that the key is substituted by its correspondent text value in the static xml file.
Is there any feature in webcenter that can parse a portal page and do that substitution?

I have added more memory and swap. I took example1.xml, filled in the parameters and ran psconfig on it. The following is the output I got:

BTW, I recreate the key by using your suggestions. and now portal server was configured, up and runningAs suggested we've also recreated the cacao keys:
cacaoadm create-keys -f The VM we're using was from a template Solaris 10 VM, so we had to change the hostname. As suggested, we also performed a sysuncofig, and also recreated the cacao keys (as above), then installed Application Server, AM SDK (remote) then Portal Server.
We have been in contact with Sun support, and they have told us to put the machine in DNS (rather than just the hosts file), which we have also done.
Any ideas?
FYI
# hostname
ps1
# domainname

• LMS 3.2 : issue with custom portal : high CPU

Hi,
Customer has a big issue with LMS.
When he connects to the standard portal, it works fine.
pdshow seems ok.
But when he wants to work with custom portal (portal.jpg), it makes a long time to display information and when he wants select something it hangs.
CPU is very high. He must stoped/restart LMS to have a normal CPU.
I asked him to :
- restart LMS, he made at 14h30
- CPU was ok and he worked with standard portal withou problems but when he tried to put debug for portal CPU increase at 15h30:
Common Services -> server -> Admin -> CS Log Configurations: debug on CiscoWorks Portal, CiscoWorks portlets and CS Home
Process which takes a lot of CPU is tomcat, you will find pdshow.txt, stdout.log and stderr.log.
He tries to go to the custom portal but it hangs, you will find logs from debug : CSHomePage.log and CSPortal.log
he sent me AAD.log because there was " high severity alert".
Many thanks for your help,
Elisabeth

The most obvious problem is that DfmBroker is down. Check to make sure tcp/9002 is not in user, then try a server reboot. See if the AAD problems go away (and perhaps the CPU problem will as well). If not, post the NMSROOT/objects/local/logs/broker.log.

• Debug from one machine not working , why ?

I created standard debug configuration for portal:
remove java application type ... , and it works immediately after portal is restarted, (connecting fast).
but after disconnect and try to run debug again, studio againg newer complete step "establishing connection"
on other maching same debug working every time , connecting with no problems.
for what reason on my machine debug may working only one time?
thanks in advance

Dear Vladimir,
sometimes debugging with J2EE can bring you some surprises.
You have to be careful on how to you disconnect from your previous debug session.
Pay special attention that you click on the "Remove all terminated launches"
