Decide the path at run time

II have a property file in my application. And I have to specify the path in code for that property file.
But in code if I use
"String curDir = System.getProperty("user.dir");"
to find the path , in that case the path available is the path where code is.
But build is installed on different location and at that time property file is not available on that location.
Ex- Build is created at
D:/Test/DevBuild
In this case property file path in compiled java file is "D:/Test/DevBuild/propertyfile"
Application is installed on C:/App
But the compiled java file has different path for property file, so when application runs it will not be able to find property file.

You can let the application take the path to the configuration directory as an argument. Another option is to add the property file to the classpath of the application and load it as a resource.

    How to create the pages at run time in smartforms????

    Hi..
    You cannot create pages at run time, however you can decide based upon conditions and using commands in Smartforms, which page needs to be displayed next.
    Those pages should be created beforehand.

  • How to change the skin at run time

    I am using jDeveloper 11.1.1.3 for ADF.
    My UseCase: i want to give a dropdown for skins. User should be able to select the skin at run time and it should be loaded. Please let me know how can i achieve it.
    Zee

    As per usecase, looks like you have the LOV containing the different skins.
    You can ensure that the application is skinned according to the selected value in the LOV.
    Ensure that you have a session scope variable that is set, whenever you change the LOV.
    For more details, look into this link http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E14571_01/web.1111/e10140/skinning.htm
    Thanks for your reply, but then...... what will be the skin loaded by default before the user selects the skin - drop down. Do i have to set something default before hand .?Define the LOV such that there are no empty elements. i.e the first element in the LOV is selected.
    In the Managed bean, if the session scope is not set, return the skin family for the first element. This would be the scenario when the application loads.

  • Display the Columns in the grid at run time

    Hi,
    My Query is returning fix number of columns in the output.I dont want to Explicitly set the columns i want to see in the display template(display columns field) rather i want to show the number of columns in the grid at run time selected by the user.
    Any Suggestion.
    Thankyou in Advance.
    Nikhil

    Here's is what i came up with:
    YOu can run one query to get the list of all columns from a table using the following SQL code:
    SELECT COLUMN_NAME
    FROM INFORMATION_SCHEMA.COLUMNS
    WHERE TABLE_NAME = 'Customers'
    Once you do that you can run the query for your table with the selected columns with the following applet property code:
    function MyFunc(){
                   document.MyApplet.getGridObject().setDisplayColumns('CompanyName,City');
                   document.MyApplet.updateGrid(true);
    User the following to extract all selected rows:
    selRows = parseInt(myGrid.getSelectedRowCount());
    You then itterate through the iGrid to extract the value:
    for (var i=1; i<=selRows; i++) {
         selRowNum = myGrid.getSelectedRowAt(i);
         selDate = myGrid.getCellValue(selRowNum,1);

  • How to change file location path at run time in OWB 10g

    Hello all,
    We want to load several files with the same name but from different folders into a single table.
    The information about the paths is stored in an oracle table.
    Is there any best practice to achieve this?
    Our approach is to loop on the number of sources and execute the mapping after changing the location path. We found how to make the loop, and have the apropriate OMB command to update the location path, but we are still looking for a way to call this OMB plus command in a process flow or a mapping. Any idea?
    We also succeeded in loading the file from an unregistered location, which is necessary to be able to update the path, but I'm not sure this is really the best approach. Any advise?
    Thanks in advance for your help!
    best regards
    Cedric.

    Hi,
    I can provide you with an idea on this, dont know if it will work or not.
    Suppose, you need to load 5 files in different folder locations into a single table. Call the mapping 5 times in a process flow. If you log in to the database, and go the table all_directories in your target schema, you will find an entry for the actual path of the file you are trying to laod. I think if this path is updated before each run of the mapping, you can load all files into the target table. Only thing you have to do is call a procedure which will update this record in all_directories table with the different locations each time you want and then plug in this procedure before each call to the mapping in a process flow and see if it works or not?

  • How do I identify an executable's path at run time?

    I am developing an application for deployment as an executable
    via an installation package. This application will need an
    accompanying initialization file which will store user configurable
    defaults (such as the root path to his data and other sundries).
    I am familiar with the configuration (.ini) VIs, as well as the
    application configuration file which resides in the same directory
    as the executable (application_name.ini) which the run-time engine
    automagically finds and loads.
    The problem arises when I want to add a custom .ini file (or possibly
    add custom entries in the application's existing file; can I do that?):
    How do I identify the path to the file (which is the same as the path
    to the executable)?
    I have no final control over where the user installs his copy, so I
    cannot use a hard-coded path to this file if I want this configuration
    file to reside in the same place as the executable. I don't want the
    application to not work simply because the user chooses to install it
    somewhere other than the default place.

    I hate it when after an hour's searching I post a question
    and then find the answer ten minutes later...

  • Variable to hold the value at run time

    Dear Friends,
         I have a requirement in customer ageing report to select a particluar record from the cube based on the record selected by the query. Is there any option for holding a value of the dimension selected by the query in to a variable at run time. kindly let me know if am not clear.
    Thanks
    Prem

    you want to :
    Exeute a query - this will select a particular record and this is to be used to select another reord from a cube. I assume that the seletion from the cube will also happen through a query - then try using a prequery - have a variable on the query on the cube which is filled using replacement path from the previous query..?

  • Crystal ActiveX Runtime Lib: Change text data source path at run time.

    We have some PCs running Crystal Reports 10 and some running CR 9 and 8.5. For each PC, we set up a System DSN ODBC data source (in Control Panel - Administrative Tools) for pulling data from text files to
    generate reports.
    Recently we wrote some routines (see the Visual Basic example at the
    end of this message) to change the path of the data files at runtime.
    According to the Crystal Reports Technical Reference Guide, we may use
    the method LogOnServer() of an Application object or an DatabaseTable
    object. However, we find that this does not work: the PrintOut()
    method only pulls data from the default path as configured for the
    System DSN, not from the path passed as the third parameter of
    LogOnServer(). It does not return any error message.
    We have also tried to use SetTableLocation() method, and it still does
    not work.
    Would any experts examine our code below and advise what we are missing? Thanks.
    For the following VB example, we have:
    System DSN Name: AP_WORKSHEET
    Driver: Microsoft Text Driver
    Database Directory: D:\0ood2 (i.e. the default path)
    Crystal Report Document: D:\3g\run\Vision\apcyto\Reports\crBlockWS.rpt
    (Which specifies that the data source text file name is BlockWS.txt)
    Purpose : We would like to read the data source text file from
    D:\0ood1 instead of the default path.
    Following is the code of the VB macro:
    Sub test()
    Rem In this version of the subroutine, we call
    Rem DatabaseTable.LogOnServer() and "Rem"ed out
    Rem Application.LogOnServer() and SetTableLocation().
    Rem We have un"Rem"ed each of them and "Rem"ed others and try to run.
    Rem In all runs, data are pulled from the default file
    Rem D:\0ood2\BlockWS.txt instead of D:\0ood1\BlockWE.txt.

  • Labview- Excel template path at run time(to build .exe file)

    I am new to labview and I have one doubt in it. I have one main.vi file where I use local drive path to invoke one excel template, Now I have to convert this .vi file in to .exe file. So now I cannot give the local drive path to invoke the template because the client will not have the same path as mine. So what I did is I created one project. Under this project I created one virtual folder which contains the excel templates. My doubt is how to give path for the excel-template in main.vi file. Please let me know if you guys know. thanks in advance.
    Thanks & Regards
    saamy

    Hi again.
    Here is a strategy I always use when I create a project:
    Create a folder named for example "My project". In this folder I create new folders called "Bin", "Doc", "Data" and "Img". I put my main Vi in the "Bin" folder and for example the excel template in the "Data" folder.
    I then create a project in LabVIEW and I add the "My project" folder into this project as an autopopulating folder. This means if I add a file in i.e the "Bin" folder it will automatically come up in the project.
    When I create my Main.vi and want to use the excel template, I simply add a folder path constant to the "Data" folder on my computer. I don't care about the LabVIEW project file.
    After I'm done programming and I'm happy with the result I need to prepare the VI for being converted into an .exe file. This means I have to remove all the path constants and add the application folder node mentioned above. I have to know what folder hiearchy I want the installer to create. In this example we can use the folder where the .exe file will be and then a sub-folder named "Data" where the excel template will be. The path will be like "the_folder_where_the_exe_is\data\exceltemplate.xlsx."
    When I create the .exe file I can add which files that will always be included. Here I add the Data folder containing the excel template. After that I create an installer where I add the folder where the exe file is, which I just created.

    Hello there,
    May be what I am asking about is kind of weird, but here is the Q:

            select EMPNO, ENAME, deptno
            from emp
            where deptno = 10 ;
    emp_rec  emp_cursor%rowtype;  then inside the loop through the data fetched by this cursor, I need to update some records, which might match the criteria of the cursor, by trying the following code segment:
    open emp_cursor;
          loop
            fetch emp_cursor into emp_rec;
            exit when emp_cursor%notfound;
            "PROCESS THE RECORD'S DATA "

          close emp_cursor; but the run never shows the record of employee 7566 as one record of the cursor, may be this is the execution plan of the cursor,
    but for the mentioned case, need to re-enter those updated records to the cursor data, to be processed, ( consider that the update statement is conditioned so that not executed always)
    any hints or suggestion
    Best Regards,

    Not possible. You'd have to close and re-open the cursor in order to pick up any changes made to the data after the cursor was opened.Then close and re-open it to get any changes made while processing the second iteration, then close and re-open it to get any changes made while processing the third iteration ad infinitum :-)I'm not claiming there are no downsides to the process :-)
    On a serious note, though, the requirement itself is exceedingly odd. You most likely need to rethink your solution so that you remove this requirement. Otherwise, you're likely going to end up querying the same set of rows many, many, many times.
