Declaring namespace and Parameter in PDF template

Hi,
I am using PDF template for generating reports. is there any limitation on declaring these objects in PDF template? when I try doing that the report gives form proccesor error.
Thank in advance

Hi,
If you are working in XML Publisher reports.
Before calling the report, you have to set the propery class of parameter.
<parameters>
<parameter name="p_cpu_make" type="character" defaultValue="AMD"/>
</parameters>
Properties prop = new Properties();
prop.put("xslt.p_cpu_make", "INTEL");
Thanks.

  • Configuring XML subnodes and attributes in PDF Template

    Hi,
    Does anybody know how to configure non-unique XML sub-nodes or XML attributes in a PDF Template? For example, my xml is of below format:
    <my-main-node-1 my-attr-1="xyz">
    <value>my-value-1</value>
    </my-main-node-1>
    <my-main-node-2 my-attr-1="abc">
    <value>my-value-2</value>
    </my-main-node-2>
    I want to configure a pdf template textboxes to hold the values
    (a) my-main-node-1@my-attr-1
    (b) my-main-node-2@my-attr-1
    (c) my-main-node-1/value
    (d) my-main-node-2/value.
    Thanks in advance,

    Can someone on Apps 11.5.10.2 who has applied the patch (I believe it upgrades the server version to 5.6.3) check and see if the behavior I described is the same on their system?
    Or can someone tell me if this is expected?
    Thanks again.

  • APT - getting declared variables and parameter names

    Hi,
    I would like start using APT, but if I am not mistaken, there are severe limitations what you can do with the tool. How is it possible to get the declared name of variables or parameters and methods from the apt tool?
    @someAnnotation
    public void someMethod(A para1, B para2) {...}I would need to get the name of the method and the name of the parameters to generate new sourcecode (AspectJ -Source), how is this possible? Without the names I cannot call the method from another place right?
    Where can I find the planned features for APT? It is a pitty that the tool is in a way very powerful and in another so limitated because you cannot extract the sourcecode or names.
    Regards,
    Klaas

    What about getSimpleName? This method is defined on
    declarations.You know, ParameterDeclaration is a Declaration ...
    All of the declarations returned by
    the mirror API are for elements that exist inside
    classes, not inside methods.Huh? Parameters are an integral part of methods and methods are elements that exist inside classes (or types in general). What's your point?
    The apt API does not expose any information about the
    interiors of methods or constructors.Oh boy. For a ParameterDeclaration getSimpleName() will return the name of the parameter, e.g. suppose you are "scanning" a standard main method:public static void main(String[] args) {...}and you already have the ParameterDeclaration instance representing the sole parameter of the method, then getSimpleName() will return "args".
    BTW - this has nothing to do with exposing interiors. Just try it.

  • Draft proposal: Namespaces and CSS

    Hey all,
    This is a draft proposal for how we'll update CSS support to handle
    disambiguating classes via namespace. Feedback appreciated here for now so
    when we get to the formal mini-spec we can rush it through.
    Keeping in mind that most folks have indicated they don't use Type selectors
    much in CSS...
    - Namespace qualification is now required for type selectors in CSS style
    declarations.
    - Gumbo will use the CSS3 suggested syntax for declaring namespaces and
    prefixing type selectors. For the most common component namespace the
    default namespace can be used (ignore the actual namespace url value):
    @namespace "http://ns.adobe.com/flex/spark";
    Button { color: #990000; }
    Otherwise, prefixes can be specified for each namespace:
    @namespace "http://ns.adobe.com/flex/spark";
    @namespace cx "com.mycompany.*";
    Button { color: #990000; }
    cx|MyFancyButton { color: #000099; }
    - The namespace mappings that are currently used to map MXML tags to
    ActionScript class names will also apply to CSS3 type selectors. These
    mappings draw information from configured manifests in flex-config.xml,
    swcs' catalog.xml files, and local package namespaces (e.g. how in MXML you
    use xmlns:c="com.mycompany.*" to scope the package name for your custom
    component). Note that namespace/prefix mappings defined in MXML do not
    apply to the enclosing CSS.
    - Type selectors that are either not qualified by a namespace or do not
    resolve to an ActionScript class linked into the Application cause a warning
    at compile time.
    - The version compatibility flag forces the compiler to ignore type selector
    prefixes. This allows Flex 3 applications to continue to use type selectors
    without namespaces.
    - The runtime will only match against fully qualified class names going
    forward. When the compatibility version flag is set for Flex 3 or earlier,
    it only matches against local names.
    - When updating from Flex3, applications will either have to run in
    compatibility mode, or qualify their CSS type selectors using namespaces. We
    continue to discourage type selectors anywhere but the root application
    file, and a warning will be given if type selectors are used outside of the
    root application.

    Is modifying the default namespace per file allowed or will it always be
    the spark namespace?
    Scenario 1.
    Styles1.css
    @namespace "http://ns.adobe.com/flex/spark";
    Button { color: #990000; }
    Styles2.css
    @namespace "com.effectiveui.controls.*";
    SearchButton { color: #990000; }
    Scenario 2.
    File com/effectiveui/controls/SearchButton.mxml
      @namespace "com.effectiveui.controls.*";
    SearchButton { color: #990000; }
    Are these valid?
    Are class selectors scoped to the default/custom namespace and then just
    ignored by the style manager implementation, or are they always compiled
    into the global space?
    Do you expect Flex Builder 4 will provide autocompletion and namespace
    insertion when defining type selectors in css files?

  • Barcodes in PDF template

    I have a requirement to produce output for a document in France. I have scanned a copy of the document and produced a pdf template which works fine. My problem is that the requirement includes a barcode. I have tried simply specifying a field with a barcode font, which produces nothing and the barcode tool in Acrobat. This comes up with a message referring to a need for an extra licence and appears to be mode for 2d barcodes.
    Does anyone have any experience of generatinf barcodes on pdf templates or any ideas where I might be going wrong?

    Mike
    PDF templates do not support barcode fonts in the same way as RTF templates. I have to admit, not having tried it Im just thinkning out of the box. But you ought to be able to hightligh a field in the Adobe form and set the font to a barcode one on your client. The key will be to ensure that the PDF engine can access the font on the server. And thereby hangs a tale - does the PDF engine 'look' for fonts when processing a PDF template. I'll drop the dev team a mail to ask.

  • Can a PDF template be created with editable and non-editable areas?

    Hi
    Sorry - probably a bit of a newbie question but i can't find an answer to this anywhere. Hope i'm also posting in the most relevant forum - apologies if i'm not.
    I have been asked by a client if i can create (from an existing illustrator CS4 file) a PDF template with restricted editable areas - two to handle text for email and physical address and one to allow logos to be swapped. All other items and text need to be locked. Is it feasible to create this from the Illustrator file (or InDesign, Acrobat Pro etc) and if so how? and what software would the client need in order to do the edits and then save as a final version for print?
    Hope that makes sense and that someone can help.
    thanks in advance, Tom

    Thanks for the reply Niall.
    I ended up chanigng the numeric field to a decimal field instead, and added the following display pattern: num{zzzz9.99'%'}
    So although the user can't enter a % symbol into the field, a % symbol automaticaly populates when the user enters a number.
    My criteria involved ensuring that a user could not enter a number with more than two numbers after the decimal, so I also set a trailing digits max of 2 (in the Obect > Field settings)
    This is the FormCalc formula I used in the "calculate" event to calculate the salary increase amount request: (DecimalField1 * NumericField2) *.01 + NumericField2
    This formula is meant to calculate the salary amount a manager is requesting their employee's salary be increased to.

  • Adobe Acrobat as a server to create PDF using PDF templates and field values

    I'm writing a web page to create a PDF using fields that we ask for them in the screen.
    My idea is:
    1. Ask for field values (text values and a photo) in my web
    2. Run Adobe Acrobat to load a PDF template (PDF form) and mix with the field values
    3. Create a final PDF mixing values and template
    4. Show to document to the user in his client web browser. I guess the only way to do that is to create the PDF on a server with Adobe Acrobat Pro and send to the user browser a JPEG that will represent the  PDF: If I do this operation in the PDF visor at the client browser, the problem is that it will will be mandatory to install Adobe Acrobat in each cliente because only this visor can manage javascript.
    Can you tell me if this idea is correct? It is possible to use Adobe Acrobat on a Server to create PDF when some proccess needs?

    and what other Adobe product o procedure can we use to do that?
    I only need to create a PDF mixing PDF Templete, field values and javascript.
    Thanks for your help.

  • How to take parts of a web page and feed into a PDF template to create a PDF

    Interesting quesiton that I think was what LiveCycle was for: How can someone take parts of a web page or xml document (say by id name or a specialized tag) and feed the chosen items into different regions inside a PDF template?
    Basically, can you identify areas on a page and then tie them to place holders in a pdf template (with high res graphics say) and create a PDF?
    Please note: this is not about converting a whole webpage to a pdf, but select portions of it.
    Anyone have experiences in doing this? So far, it appears to require a toolset like LiveCycle or Adlib to utilize only selected items and not the whole page.

    The lack of answers is likely due to folks having no clue. What you have asked is not really the purpose of either Acrobat or LiveCycle, but that is not to say it can not be done. A starting point is to bring a WEB page into Acrobat as a PDF. This can be done by printing from the browser to the Adobe PDF printer, using PDF Maker with IE or FIrefox, or simply creating directly in Acrobat. Those are the normal ways to get things from a web page to a PDF.
    That said, it is not what you asked. You are asking about being able to parse parts of the web page. That is a lot more work and may not be directly possible, though with JavaScript it might be possible. I suspect that if it is possible you would require a lot of extra programming to allow the material selection. It may be the folks in the SDK sub-forum can help.
    Being I have no clue how to implement what you have asked (and probably no one else either), I can only suggest some things to look at or other places to inquire. If you think the XML of LiveCycle would help, then you might try the LiveCycle forum.
    In terms of your post, I really don't remember seeing the original, but that was right near the end of the semester and I was not checking the forum very much. There are various reasons folks may not reply, typically because they have no clue. Templates are also somewhat specialized and there are not many posts about them. My guess is that the template aspect may have had a lot of folks skip the post. In any case, I have tried to give you some thoughts.

  • Will buzzword allow to upload word template, edit and convert to PDF.

    Hi,
    we have a module in our project where we need to Upload a word template - Edit the template - and save the changes - and attach exisitng uploaded files (for e.g. Word, excel and pdf file) and convert the word template along with the attached file into single PDF.
    So is this possible?
    Can any one help me in this?
    Is there any free download?

    Hello,
    Buzzword is an online word processor that will absolutely allow you to upload a word .doc, edit it in Buzzword format, then export as a PDF. The one part that you can't do with Acrobat.com is to merge files - so you'd either need to merge the word .docs first and then upload, or use Adobe Acrobat desktop software if you need to merge PDF files. There is nothing to download as this is an online tool. Basic accounts are free - you can sign up at www.acrobat.com.
    Please let me know if you have additional questions or concerns.
    Kind Regards,

  • Creating an offline PDF template for upload and submit

    Hi Gurus,
    I'm very new to Adobe Interactive forms and will need your advise.
    From the tutorials, when we create a offline PDF application that can upload a PDF for submission, we were always given the sample template PDF file provided by the tutorial. (travelrequest.pdf)
    Now I need to create my own offline PDF template by myself so I can integrate to my WD program to include uploading the offline PDF template and submitting to backend.
    the offline PDF must be editable and save via acrobat reader.
    Any further notes or documentations that I can follow up to? Cos most of the doc I found doesn't teach me how to go about creating the PDF template for offline use in the first place...only the backend and WD integration which I already know.
    Please help! Thanks!
    ps: points will be generously awarded to answers.

    Hi Jansen,
    As far as I know the WAS 620 only supports to output your Forms and Scripts to PDF Format but they are not interactive.
    The Adobe Interactive Forms Solution is only available from WAS 640. You can design your forms either in ABAP transaction SFP or in NWDS(Netweaver Developer Studio) Form Designer.
    For craeting forms in WD ABAP, have a look at the links below:

    I've just read a footnote in the API documentation which indicates that the transformPDF function cannot be used for this purpose:
    "GS_Enterprise said on Nov 24, 2007 at 12:03 PM :
    Please note that the parameter "inPdfDoc" for transformPDF assumes that the stream content is an XFA-based PDF, and that it's not an XFA-based PDF with a PDF background (also known as "XFA foreground"). In other words, this function does not convert any input PDF to PDF/A, but only those PDFs generated from an XFA template which does not include any static PDF content as a background."

  • Spawn page, PDF template in Adobe X

    Hi all, I am working on a PDF form where the user needs to be able to add more pages if they still have info to enter.  After researching this a bit, it seems the best way to go is to define the page as a PDF template, then copy that template to a new page when the user presses a button (using javascript). I am not a programmer at all, but I found this forum post: http://acrobatusers.com/forum/javascript/duplicate-current-page-5-times
    That gave me some code to work with, but the code doesn't work for me, even with the corrections and taking out the comments.  Any advice on how I can do this?? Thanks to anyone who responds.  Here is the code I am currently working with:
    function CopyPage(nPageNum, nTimes) {
       // create template from pagevar
       t = this.createTemplate({cName:"myTemplate", nPage: nPageNum });
       // hide
       templatet.hidden = true;
       // spawn nTimes pages from templatevar
       t = this.templates;
    var T = t[0];
       // get first templage
       for (var i =0; i < nTimes; i++)  {
          T.spawn({nPage: this.numPages, bRename: false, bOverlay: false });
       // remove the template
       this.removeTemplate({cName: 'myTemplate'});
       return;
    } // end CopyPage function
    // code to call CopyPage functionCopyPage(5, 1);

    You cannot use the createTemplate method in a script that's attached to a button. You would have to create a folder level script, or better yet, make the page a template at design time so you don't need to do so at run time. If you know in advance that you want to possible create a new page, this is what you should do.
    Also, when spawning a new page with fields, you should set the bRename parameter to true. Otherwise, the values of the fields on the different pages will be the same, which is probably not what you want.
    Let's say that you made the page on which your button is a template, and gave it the name "myTemplate". A Mouse Up script that would add a single duplicate page after it would be:
    // Get a template object from an existing template
    var t = getTemplate("myTemplate");
    // Spawn the template on the page following this one, and rename the fields
    t.spawn({nPage: pageNum + 1, bRename: true, bOverlay: false});

  • Definition of PDF template position

    I have a PDF form, where templates can be deleted and added via buttons. The PDF form consists of 2 categories, template category 2 and template category 3. How can it be done that template category 2 is only added at the last page of category 2 and template category 3 only added at the last page of category 3? Can the position of an PDF template be clearly defnined?
    I would would be grateful for any kind of information!

    In the examples the templates are being placed after the last page. But instead of using a page number the number of pages property was used. The parameters are passed to a method by fixed positions unless you use a special notation to allow the use of parameter names.
    Example 1:
    var a = this.templates;
    for (i = 0; i < a.length; i++)
    a[i].spawn(this.numPages, false, false);
    Can also be written as:
    var a = this.templates;
    for (i = 0; i < a.length; i++)
    a[i].spawn({nPage: this.numPages, bRename: false, bOverlay: false});
    "this.numPages" is a number and it is the number of pages in the PDF at the time the line of the script is executed. So if one has one page in the form and one hidden template the first time the script is run, the value will be 1, if run another time the number will be 2. You need to remove that string of text and insert the number or a variable that has the number you want to use.
    var a = this.templates;
    var nPage = this.numPages; // variable for zero based page number;
    for (i = 0; i < a.length; i++)
    nPage = this.numPages; // update the page number for the loop processing;
    a[i].spawn(nPage, false, false);
    For Acrobat JavaScript there is no "calculateNow" statement. It does not even to appear to be available to JavaScript.

  • Native SQL Performance Difference Between Hard-Coded Value and Parameter

    Hi,
    I have a native SQL (Oracle) query (fairly long & complex with a few sub-queries) that returns in under a second in both ODSI and using an external SQL tool. This query has a hard-coded value for a particular column, namely, a date column.
    When I modify the ODSI function signature so that I pass in a parameter and then replace the hard-coded value in the native SQL with the appropriate parameter binding notation (i.e. '?'), the query takes much longer (2-30 seconds). The duration of the query depends on how many records are actually returned, so it must be running a separate query for each of the results (i.e. the more results returned, the longer the query takes to return).
    What can I do to keep the duration of my ODSI query low while allowing for the parameter?
