Declaring properties for classes

Hello all,
I need to declare a property for an entire class in a Flash
Actionscript 2.0 file (.as).
Regularly, I would use the line "falling = false", but it
says that that can't be used to define a class or as part of a
function. How can I declare "falling" as a property?
Any help appreciated.

PS - class properties should always be private as well:
class someClass
private var falling:Boolean = false;
function someClass()

• Error editing task sequence: Failed to load dynamic properties for class "SMS_TaskSequence_ApplyWindowsSettingsAction" From XML into WMI

I've started getting an intermittent error editing my Windows 7 OSD task sequence. Sometimes I can open the TS to edit, but when I try to apply changes I get the error. Other times I get the error when trying to open the TS. If I try again
right away, I still get the error, but if I wait a few minutes and try again sometimes it will open the TS.
The error reads:
ConfigMgr Error Object:instance of SMS_Extended Status{Description = "Failed to load dynamic properties for class \"SMS_TaskSequence_ApplyWindowsSettingsAction\" from XML into WMI";Error Code = 2147943746;File = "e:\\qfe\\nts\\sms\\siteserver\\sdk_provider\\smsprov\\ssptspackage.cpp";Line = 3454;Operation = "ExecMethod";ParameterInfo = "SMS_TaskSequencePackage";ProviderName = "WinMgmt";StatusCode = 2147749889;}
Coinciding with this error, I show the following entries in the TaskSequenceProvider.log file:

I exported the task sequence and checked in "object.xml" for the "ApplyWindowsSettingsAction", to see if there was something odd in the xml, but I don't find anything that jumps out as being wrong. Here's the section of XML for
that step. I've removed identifying info, and replaced it with a generic term in bold.

Is there any other log I should check for a clue on this issue? What could be causing this error?

Thanks for sharing that! I tend to save contacting MS support until after I've exhausted other options. I'm always afraid that I'll spend the $500 to open a case and then it turns out to be something simple that I would have found if I had just
kept working on it myself a little longer.
It looks like that link is for an update released in February as KB3023562. I downloaded and installed it. I'll try opening/editing/saving the task sequence a few times today to see if the issue is resolved.
After I had already installed it, I thought to look up that update in configmgr. The update is listed as superseded by 2 other updates. The newest of those is KB3046049, which just installed last night with the other March patches, so it's possible
that I didn't need to install KB3023562 after all.

Following situation. In SCCM we have one Standalone Primray Site Server and two Site Server. The two site server are also SMS Provider. MDT 2012 was installed on all three Servers and the Config Manager Integration was run. When starting the Console
on any of this server and editing an MDT Task Sequence, it occasionally pops up an error "An error occured when loading the task sequence". TaskSequenceProvider.log File throws a lot of errors:

• How to access variables declared in java class file from jsp

i have a java package which reads values from property file. i have imported the package.classname in jsp file and also i have created an object for the class file like
classname object=new classname();
now iam able to access only the methods defined in the class but not the variables. i have defined connection properties in class file.
in jsp i need to use
statement=con.createstatement(); but it shows variable not declared.
con is declared in java class file.
how to access the variables?

• Declaring Argument as Class of Enum That Implements Interface

I'm trying to declare a method parameter that is the class of an enum which implements a specified interface. I can't figure out the required syntax, or if this is even possible.
Here is the interface:
public interface Describer { String describe(); }_________________________________________________
Here' s an enum that implements the interface:
public enum DeviceProperty implements Describer {
TYPE("Device Type"),
USE("Device Use");
private String description;
private DeviceProperty(final String description) { this.description = description; }
@Override public String describe() { return description; }
Here's my unsuccessful attempt to declare the method parameter:
public <E extends Enum<E extends Describer>> void addChanges(final Class<E> properties) {
final EnumSet<E> set = EnumSet.allOf(properties);
for (final Enum<E> property : set) {
// Do something with the property
The problem, of course, is that addChanges() doesn't compile. If I remove "extends Describer" it compiles, but then I can't detect compile time errors (i.e., an enum which doesn't implement Describer).
Is what I'm attempting even possible in Java? If so, I'd be very grateful if someone could explain the correct syntax.

Nothing is being returned at all. The method return type is "void".OK.
Then I understand that <E extends Enum<E extends> & Describer> is a more detailed definition for the parameter type Class<E>, right?
And your method iterates over all the constants defined in the passes enum type.

• Declaring top level classes instead of subclasses

I seem to have misunderstood something very basic.
It's always better, where possible, to declare the top-level class instead of the sub-class, right?
Ok, then why do I have the following problem?
I declare, from the JavaMail API the following:
Message theMessage = new MimeMessage(session);instead of declaring directly the subclass like this:
MimeMessage theMessage = new MimeMessage(session);but when I use a method which is only found in the MimeMessage class I get a compile error.
[javac] 189.           theMessage.setSubject(subject, "iso8859_1");
[javac] <-------------------------------->
[javac] *** Error: No match was found for method "setSubject(java.lang.String, java.lang.String)".
Have I really misunderstood something so basic?? Surely the compiler knows that theMessage is an instance of MimeMessage??
Any clear explanation to explain why I get this compile error would be gratefully received. I have been faithfully declaring top-level classes instead of subclasses in my code, but if the compiler doesn't let you do so, then what's the point?

Ok, my confusion was started by an article on the
Collection classes which stated that:
Map theMap = new HashMap(); was better
programming practice.
Yep.
But the Map class is an Interface, right? - Whereas
Message is a normal class with subclass MimeMessage.
I think that's where my confusion started.Well, this isn't really a class vs. interface difference. It goes to which class (or interface) is the "highest" (closest to Object) and still has all the public interface you need.
There are cases where you'll declare a variable to be of a base class type like Message.
You just need to get into the habit of separating the left side of the = from the right side. On the left, you put the bare minimum that completely meets your needs. You say, "I need a List" or "I need a Map" or "I need a SortedMap" (a subinterface of Map) or "I need a Message" or "I need a MimeMesage".
Then, on the RHS =, you decide which particular class best implements the public interface that you said you need (by declaring it on the LHS). "For my Map, I'll use a HashMap." "For my Message, I'll use a MimeMessage." "For my MimeMessage, I'll use a MimeMessage".

Thanks.

Kevin,
I could not get this to work on my installation; perhaps you can review and "run with it" or someone better with CSS can assist.
The gist of it is there is a class .sapzencrosstab-DataCellDefault.sapzencrosstab-DataCellAlert1Background to define the status symbol for the alerts
Based on your Exceptions in the BEx query, Good 1 is .sapzencrosstab-DataCellDefault.sapzencrosstab-DataCellAlert1Background
Good 2 is .sapzencrosstab-DataCellDefault.sapzencrosstab-DataCellAlert3Background
etc... Bad 3 (red symbol) is .sapzencrosstab-DataCellDefault.sapzencrosstab-DataCellAlert9Background
I tried the following custom CSS on the crosstab, note using IE (which now we can no longer use until Microsoft patches)
myAlerting.sapzencrosstab-DataCellDefault.sapzencrosstab-DataCellAlternating{

• Sun ONE Studio 4 aka Forte: How to set the output path for classes ?

Help !
Beginner's question:
Sun ONE Studio 4 aka Forte:
How to set the output path for classes ?
As default, the class files are created in the same directory as the
sources.
In opposite, both JBuilder and Together support that there is a tree
with the sources and another tree with the classes.
The first answer I got was "not possible with Forte, but just if you write your own "ANT Build script" !
a) Please point me to a ready-to-use ANT script for this purpose, if such is available
b) Is using ANT instead of the MAKE as comfortable ? Besides the separation of sourcecode and classes, I would like to keep everything else to be the same, i.e. I dont want to edit the ANT file if I enlarge the project by directories or files.
Tia
Sincerely
Rolf

You can set S1S's options to place newly created .class files in a specific location.
Identify the compiler that is being used - Open the S1S's Tools/Options window, expand Editing and select Java Sources. Note the Default Compiler value. (If it's one if the Ant options, you use Ant to specify this option, not S1S.)
Open the S1S's Tools/Options window, expand Building/Compiler Types and select the appropriate compiler.
The Properties tab of the compiler has the property Target, which sets the filesystem where the compiler output is directed. If you choose <not set>, the .class files are written to their source directory.
When you set the Target, your change affects all classes that use this compiler.
Very few options can't be set in S1S; the challenge is finding out where they're set!

• UML modeling for class diagrams, could not generate code for modified diagr

Hi,
I'm using Java studio Enterprise for creating class diagrams and generating code from the UML using round trip engineering. I'm able to create class diagrams and generate code from the diagram. I tried modifying java code for classes and saved it. Now if I try and modify the diagram its not updating the java code associated with it.
Please suggest the workaround or so.
Thanks
Sunita

Maybe the linkage between the source and model class element is broken. Try to expand the class element from the project tree to see if a source file artifact node (under the class that displays the pathname as the name of the node). If not, that's why. Then, the workaround is to manually add the pathname to the java source file. Here are the steps:

• [svn:fx-trunk] 11575: Put default style declarations into one class per application or module.

Revision: 11575
Author:   [email protected]

Log Message:
Put default style declarations into one class per application or module.
Generate all the default styles in one class instead of a class for each style. The name of the style class will be based on the application or module name. An application named ?\226?\128?\156foo?\226?\128?\157 will have a style class named ?\226?\128?\156_foo_Style?\226?\128?\157. The idea is to allow applications to be compiled with different themes and get their owns styles. Currently this is not possible because a global style in both themes will have the same class name, _globalStyle. Whatever class the top-level application loads the sub-applications and modules will have to use the same class because of the flash player first-class-in-wins rule. Now each application and module will have their own style class.

• Hello...Java is supporting mutiple datatypes declarations in for loop

hello,
is it possible to declare more than one data types in a for loop...i think java is supporting multiple declarations in for loop..am i right
class check
public static void main(String[] args)
for(int i=10,float k=10;i<5;i++)
System.out.println("Hello World!"+i);
regards,
j.mouli

Hi,
no, that doesn't work because java unlike c++ does not
have the comma operator ",". So you need to declare
the 2nd variable in the body of the loopNot strictly correct - its true that it won't work in this case, but false that Java doesn't recognise the comma.
If your two variables were of the same type you could use something like
for (int i = 0, k = 10; i < k; i++)
However, the initialisation must take place in a single statement, so you can't use multiple types

• Converter-for-class

Is converter-for-class or any other "-for-class" attributes required to match against subclasses of the specified class, or just the class itself?
It you specify converter-for-class as Object, is the converter required to apply to every subclass of Object (i.e. every class), or just to those properties with a runtime value of exactly Object?
Thanks.

Hello BalusC,
thanks for reply. I'm definitely use JSF RI 1.2_13.
The problem is, that the converter-method public String getAsString( FacesContext p_ctx, UIComponent p_comp, Object p_value ) is never called.
But the other method public Object getAsObject( FacesContext p_ctx, UIComponent p_comp, String p_value ) is called.
BalusC, which JSF implementation do you use?
regards, Joerg

• Setting styleable properties & pseudo-class state to controls in JavaFX 2.2

Hi All,
Greetings!
Can anyone please let me know how to create or set styleable and pseudo-class state properties for custom controls developed with JavaFX 2.2.
I found a very nice wiki regarding this. (https://wikis.oracle.com/display/OpenJDK/CSS+API+to+support+custom+UI+Controls)
But this seems to be with JavaFX 8 version. As i cannot find PseudoClass in the current version of JavaFX 2.2.
Thanks & Regards,
Sai Pradeep Dandem.

There is no public API in 2.2 for adding adding styleable properties and pseudo-class state to controls in JavaFX 2.2.
The implementation between 2.2 and 8.0 changed significantly in terms of API, class names, etc. The model is roughly the same, but if you implement something in 2.2 using the private implementation APIs, it will not work, and may not even compile, in 8.0.

• Javax.xml.bind.JAXBException: Unable to locate jaxb.properties for package ...

I want to marshall a java content tree (generated with jaxb api) in xml stream
in an EJB.
Generated classes are archived in a jar file containing its jaxb.properties, when
I test it
in a classic java process it runs well.
When I try to do it in an EJB with weblogic 8.1 I get the following error:
javax.xml.bind.JAXBException: Unable to locate jaxb.properties for package
I've checked:
- jaxb.properties is in the archive file
I've tried to put the jar file in the classpath of the server in the starter script.
I've tried to put reference classpath in the manifest of the ejb jar and of application
ear.
I've tried to put both reference in server classpath and ear/jar manifest.
I still doesn't run.
Any idea?
Thanks a lot
Franck

Add the directory of the generated classes in the classpath.

• JAXB: Unable to locate jaxb.properties for package com.globalrefund.jaxb

When I package my classes into a jar and try to run my app with
java -jar myapp.jar
I get "Unable to locate jaxb.properties for package com.globalrefund.jaxb"
Everything works fine when I run my app by setting the classpath followed by "java com.globalrefund.MainClass".
"jaxb.properties" is in the jar in the directory "com.globalrefund.jaxb". I use JRE 1.4.1.
What's wrong?
Regards,
Bernhard

a little additional info:
It works when I put jaxb.properties in the directory com.globalrefund.jaxb and let classpath point to the root of the directory structure.
If I create a jar containing exactly the same directory structure and add the jar to the classpath it does not work.
Looks like JAXB cannot read jaxb.properties from a jar?!
Any ideas?
Thanks
Bernhard
