Decoding a DTS file with X-fi xtreme mu

Hello, I got some .DTS files
I want to use the internal decoder of the X-fi xtreme music to decode it but I hear nothing. I have to use software decode, like VLC Media player, but.. **bleep**! I want the X-fi decoder to work with these files...
You know what program should I use to liste this files decoded with the internal DTS decoder of the X-FI?
thank you.

Ok, I've read the thread you mentioned and I have been able to send a .DTS file to my external decoder (logitech z5400) perfectly... and playing it with VLC player via software decoding... but how can I test the internal DTS decoder of the x-fi with this .dts file?
Ok now another "problem"...
I have a full DTS CD-Audio (not individual DTS files).
I think there are 3 options to play it:
-Using external DTS decoder sending the signal via spdif passthrough.
2-Using X-fi internal decoder (xtreme music model)
3-Using software decoder (Power DVD or VCL player)
I have only been able to listen to that CD with option 3.
optio ... If I try to play the CD with powerdvd and option SPDIF on, the external decoder identifies the sound is DTS but no sound plays at all...
option 2... another again I don't know how to try this using the X-fi internal dts decoder.
Thank you for your time.

  • Trouble getting SPDIF with Xi-Fi Xtreme Audio

    -Trouble getting SPDIF with Xi-Fi Xtreme Audio? Hey guys,
    I'm going crazy here, bought today a <span class="smallColor8">Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Audio PCI-Express, the idea was to go toslink from card digital out to my receiver and to bitstream dolby digital and DTS... as I said that was the idea...
    <span class="smallColor8">First problem, the CD was broken, no biggie went to the website and got myself the drivers - XFXA_PCDRV_LB__04_0000.exe? I installed that, rebooted and was welcomed by the updater application, I went to check what was there and most of it seems unecessary, I found a bit strange that it was telling me I needed the file I just installed, but I selected everything that was critical and launched the +250mb update (yuck) and I was very happy to see it was downloading at 30kbps (...)
    <span class="smallColor8">After installing all that and rebooting I went in the control pannel to look for the SPDIF option but couldn't find anything relevant so went to read the manual and the first thing it says is click the decoder tab... and well I don't have a decoder tab, it's simply not there...
    <span class="smallColor8">I thought I made a mistake, so I uninstalled everything, by the way this thing is a freaking nightmare to uninstall properly and this time went step by step making sure I wasn't missng a point and guess what I spent another 2 hour downloading at year 992 speeds, but got to the very same result, the decoder tab is not here.
    <span class="smallColor8">So far it has been very frustrating but I'm some of you guys will make it all ok with a simple fix :P
    <span class="smallColor8">I run windows XP SP3, already gave you sound card I use and driver I downloaded, If you need anything else just ask, I'll be around

    First you talk about DAC, this is precisely what I'm trying to avoid, this is a 50$ card, I have a 7'000$ receiver I obviously want the digital to analog conversion to be done by the receiver, same goes for the decoding, actually I never expected a card this cheap to decode anything, I just want it to send the digital sound bit per bit (or bitstream) to receiver, it will do the DAC and Dolby/DTS decoding and of course it will do it much better
    A card with a 48kHz-only DAC, that also puts out SPDIF, will put out 48kHz SPDIF in sync with the input, which means unless audio operations are attempted on a 48kHz encoding before it is sent to the card, which will destroy the encoding, it will be passed through without alteration.
    The specs on the card's DACs don't look that bad. I for one wouldn't assume that those functions on your receiver are going to be that much better, and Dolby/DTS decoding is either done right or doesn't work at all. If I were you, I'd do a comparison test before making that particular assumption.
    So what you're saying is simply using the card even though I don't see anything related to SPDIF should be enough and applications will take care of the bitstream, I use AC3filter with reclock and indeed I can select the audio device, but it ain't working at all.
    There may be a problem with the AC3filter/ReClock combination. To check this, you could try playing a DVD with an "ordinary" player that has an SPDIF output selection.
    When you say it ain't working at all, what exactly is happening?
    BTW, if you are using AC3filter to make AC3 on the fly, you are probably doing extra encoding/decoding steps using a lossy encoding just to use your receiver's decoder, to which I personally would prefer using the card's analog outs connected to a receiver's multichannel inputs, unless comparison testing unexpectedly demonstated the extra encoding sounded better to me.
    You keep saying this *basic card*, I was under the impression that creative was only doing basic card, if there's another model that will work out of the box to bitstream digital sound, please give me the reference number, I'll be happy to throw this card out my window and get one that works
    An audio cable can do DD/DTS passthrough. Like a cable, your card is simple enough that its hardware will do passthough if fed a valid 48kHz encoding. CL's smarter cards have onboard mixing and use hardware sample-rate-conversion techniques any of which can destroy an encoding. These cards have to be put in a special mode which bypasses all that to accomplish passthrough successfully because by default they will destroy encodings.

  • [SOLVED] unable to play mp3 or flac files in mpd, .dts files play fine

    I had a perfect running mpd setup before I tried to fiddle around with some dependancies to get xbmc-svn to compile without errors. I installed some AUR packages (ffmpeg-svn, x264-git, libva-sds, libvpx, libid3tag).
    After that I started to experience trouble with mpd, it start fine and says it plays audio files just fine but whenever i play a mp3 or flac file the progress bar just looks like it's playing the file but I hear no sound. Whenever I play a .dts file i hear the sound correct.
    I'm very curious to why this happends.
    I rolled back the packages mentioned above but the issue remains unsolved.
    My setup: pc is connected to receiver by hdmi cable using the latest alsa version with digital passthrough over hdmi, currently using mpd-git from AUR

  • Can't Import DTS files to project

    Hi, there,
    I passed through a lot of warning and error messages basically due to some kinds of bugs in the temperates ( PGC error, OPS error 0X00000020 ) and not supporting MPG audio files ( End of file error ) I could work out, but there is still one I can't fix.
    When importing DTS files to Encore DVD 2.0, I have the message
    " DTS audio is supported in this version of Encore, but not during the preview, It cannot be played during production, but will be written correctly to DVD, etc...."
    I click ok then this other message pop-up:
    " The software that's used to decode the media is not available on this system. Installing the correct decoders for the files you are working with may help to correct the problem. "
    Then it stops to import
    I download all codecs for DTS but it doesn't solve the problem.
    I haven't seen any problem of that kind im the forum comments. So everybody can import DTS files to a project.
    Please, it would be great if someone can tell me how to do it.
    Thanks a lot.

    I ripped the streams from movies (NTSC and PAL) into big files M2V, audios AC3 and DTS using DVD Decrypter.
    No problem to reimport the M2V and AC3 files but I got that warning message since the beginning.
    Then I install the codecs K-Lite Codec pack i downloded from the Internet. It didn't solve the problem.
    I've got those OS Errors while using the Mod Soccer Submenu. psd temperate when I tried to delete it because of a "end of file" error message when burning as DVD files on the hard disc.
    Those warning desappeared immediatly after I restarted the computer and deleted that temperate from the project menu and replaced it with an other. I am not the only one who's having problem with that specific temperate.( Read from other users comments )
    PS: I can't use Adobe Encore DVD 2.0 with my desktop because the processor is an Athlon XP 2600 ( SSE2 not supported. What a pity! )
    I hope You've got enough info and can advise me what to do.
    Thanks a lot.

  • Can anyone tell me why iTunes don't let me drag&drop DTS files?

    hello,
    can anyone tell me what should I do to be able to play DTS audio files with iTunes (Windows 7).
    I connected my PC (via optical output) to a 5.1 receiver and everything is ok until I try to drag&drop DTS audio files to iTunes and try to playing them, with VLC ther is no problem playing those files.

    so basicaly, even if I'm a big fan of iTunes (and all the Apple devices ), there is no way to play DTS files through iTunes . now I'm force to use other players for that, maybe in the future, Apple will take this matter in consideration and do something
    DTS files also will not play on iPod, iPad, iPhone and Apple TV. I am afraid I see little chance Apple will every add support to iTunes for DTS files.
    The best I can suggest is that if you have an Apple device and hence need to use iTunes, you can either convert the DTS files, or use iTunes for your other media and Windows Media Player for the DTS files. You could also set WMP to be able to play the MP3, AAC, or Apple Lossless files you have in iTunes.
    Note: WMP is not really up to the job of handling AIFF, WAV, or Podcast files.
    Yes it really is possible to get WMP to play Apple Lossless files. I have my entire collection in Apple Lossless and with the right addons I have WMP12 in Windows 7 able to play Apple Lossless, to put them in the right Music section, and to also automatically read the meta-tags in Apple Lossless files including the embedded artwork.
    By using both iTunes and WMP you could have iTunes handle the syncing to your Apple device, and use WMP to play files.

  • XML file with an attached MIME encoded ZIP file

    Hi all,
    I'm new to SAP WAS and MIME encoding/decoding, and I'm trying to generate an XML file with an attachment which is also MIME encoded.
    1) I have dummy files (1.jpg, 2.jpg) and I'm trying to zip these files into one zip file (files.zip).
    2) I'm trying to MIME encode/decode this zip file.
    3) I'm trying to attach this MIME encoded zip file to existing XML file.
    Which FMs could I use to accomplish this?  Your help is very appreciated.
    Thank you.
    below is a file example that I'm trying to generate.
    MIME-Version: 1.0
    Content-Type: multipart/mixed;
         boundary="--XXXXboundary text"
    Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit
    This is a multi-part message in MIME format.
    --XXXXboundary text
    Content-Type: text/xml;
         charset="utf-8"
    Content-Transfer-Encoding: 8bit
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
    <abc/>
    <def/>
    --XXXXboundary text
    Content-Type: application/octet-stream;       name="files.zip"
    Content-Transfer-Encoding: base64
    Content-Disposition: attachment

    Just create an applet (extend JApplet)... add a JTextArea to it....fill the text area with the text from an XML doc.
    To get the text of the XML doc just do something like..
    File xmlFile = new File("<path to xml file>");
    FileInputStream fis = new FileInputStream(xmlFile);
    byte[] bytes = new byte[(int) xmlFile.length()];
    fis.read(bytes);
    fis.close();
    String xmlText = new String(xmlBytes);
    textArea.setText(xmlText);
    ...try something like that (assuming..i understand what it is u want)

  • Work flow for syncing separate Audio files with Video files in FCP

    It may be too late for me to use this workflow that I want with my current project, but I need to figure out what it is anyway for future reference.
    Right now I'm editing a movie which is near completion. When we recorded the movie, the camera's deck recorded reference audio from the sound guy at 48k @ 16bit. This audio also went through an additional set of preamps which added a small amount of noise. So we don't want to use the reference audio because of it's low resolution and less clean audio. The sound guy recorded straight to his deck at 48k @ 24bit, besides the better resolution, his audio is noticeably better.
    The camera deck and 'clapper' (I think that's what you call it) were not connected or synced. So the video files and the soundsguy's audio files are slightly different lengths, but at least have a 'clap sound' to manually sync to. And I don't mean that the audio and video files won't play in sync with each other, I mean that the soundguy always started recording before the camera, so his audio files have slightly different start and stop times.
    Could I have synced the audio files with the video files before I started editing this project? If so, could it have been in the way that the soundguy's audio would be connected to my video files while editing? What would that procedure have been?
    My current workflow right now is I have my finished sequence, I change the bit rate to 24 in Sequence Settings, and start manually dragging the soundguy's files to the sequence for every little edited clip. This is going to take forever, there are 99 scenes in this movie. Anyway, at the end of the day these sequences are exported as .omf files and imported into Pro Tools for audio post production.
    I was not thinking to figure this out before I started editing the movie, this is unfortunate, a newb move in a decent production.
    Anyway, I don't know if there is a standard for this situation or if I just opened up a can of worms for many possible workflows. Please comment if you have experience in this area or please refer me to any reading material.
    Thanks for your time!
    -Monty

    The normal workflow (besides manually syncing up before editing!)
    is to have ' some ' way of auto syncing the clips.
    So you must have common timecode.
    With external audio, you can slave the cam's TC to the TC output of the BWF recorder.
    Then you can use BWF / QT merge (one of my apps) to sync them, or use Sync 'n Link.
    (another third party application)
    If it is not possible cause you're shooting with a cam without a TC input, you can record the TC output on one of the audio tracks of your cam, and use FCPauxTC reader to decode the beeps and translate that to QT TC, and again use the former tricks to sync them.
    It is difficult when you have never done it, but very easy once you get the hang of it, and it saves a huge amount of time to do it right from the start.
    Have a look at the FCP aux TC reader here:
    http://www.videotoolshed.com/?page=products&pID=26
    Sync 'n Link can be found here:

  • Flat Files with BAM(Business Activity Monitoring)

    I am using Flat File in my receive location and i am getting XML File in my send location.
    Now I want to check the StartPortTime, EndPortTime with the help of BAM.
    But I am unable to get these values in BAM portal. Is it possible to track flat files(txt files)through BAM.
    Please provide me any solution as soon as possible.
    Thanks in advance !

    Hi Prakash,
    In related to your other forum post on similar question:
    http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/a5fbff38-bff9-412a-bf02-9c0a816e52e2/flat-files-with-bam?forum=biztalkgeneral#4c53c118-fda3-44b7-8c42-5f65e034a813
    There is no difference to flat-file schema and standard schema in terms of BAM tracking.
    I understand that you were not able to see tracked data for flat-file schema in “BAM portal”. Can you try to see the data directly in BAM SQL-tables/view rather
    than through BAM portal? Try to query the SQL-view - “bam_YourActivityName_AllInstances” (replace YourActivityName with your activity name)
     order it by LastModified column. See whether your data from your flat-file has been tracked in the SQL-tables.
    If you still not able to view the data in the above SQL-view:
    Check event-log: check the eventlog for any warning. Generally BAM errors
    are logged as warning.
    Check
    TDDS_FailedTrackingData:
    Check
    TDDS_FailedTrackingData table. The TDDS_FailedTrackingData table gets populated whenever there is a tracking failure
    TDDS_FailedTrackingData.
    Enable TDDS: I hope you have enabled
    BizTalk Host/Host Instance configured to run
    “Tracking Data Decode Service (TDDS)" in your environment, because you can see data from other Receive Locations.
    Check deployment & restart host instance/IIS:
    Then only thing I would doubt is about your deployment of Tracking Profile of the flat-file schema. Ensure the Tracking Profile for the flat-file schema has been deployed properly.
    Also ensure you have restarted your host instance or IIS (if it’s under isolated host) for your deployment to take effect.

    Hi,
    I'm agree with amavhsrma, we do need more information about your problem. We couldn't provide any suggestion with single log file.

  • Import DV AVI Files with 5.1 Audio

    To my surprise, Encore would not import DV AVI files from Premiere with 5.1 Audio. I much prefer to do my transcoding in Encore rather than in Premiere so I don't have to guess how much disk space will remain after menus and other content. Also, I think Encore transcoding is more efficient than Premiere.
    Yet, cheaper and less sophisticated applications such as Nerovision will import DV AVI files with 5.1 audio, and give you 5.1 DVD's.
    Which leads to another question, why does a cheaper application just give you the Dolby Digital 5.1 Audio, while a fee has to be paid to Surcode to get it in the Adobe applications?

    You cannot create a 5.1 Dolby Digital file in Encore, so the answer is an emphatic "YES" to the planning & budgeting.
    You really should be doing this anyway, as it is a real eye opener. There are some superb Excel spreadsheet bit budgeting tools, as well as a simple enough manual method. It should be detailed in the FAQ.
    As far as DTS goes, you'll need an encoder again. The only plugin version I am aware of is for Steinberg's Nuendo & Cubase systems, but both DTS and SurCode make them.
    The SurCode DTS-DVD encoder is dated now - 5 years or so - and the Nuendo one sounds better. Having said that, the DTS-PSE sounds even better, as well as having DTS-ES and DTS 96/24 capability (both of which are DVD Legal).
    Even better are the soon-to-be-released DTS-HD SAS & MAS encoders.
    These are primarily for the Blue-ish type discs, but also cater for so-called "legacy" encoding as well, and the detail is even better than the DTS-PSE version. You can hear the difference in the detail where the top end sounds more natural & open. Whatever version you get will make Dobly Dirgital sound dull & muddy by comparison.
    Quality can be improved by feeding the encoder with 24 bit audio too - this also applies to Dolby Digital.
    Bitrates for DTS are either 754 kb/sec or 1509 kb/sec, and come in 2 flavours:
    Compact (.cpt) and Padded (.dts) - either can use the lower bitrate, and there is no difference in audio quality between the CPT and DTS flavours. I recommend using the higher bitrate personally.
    Both types are supported in Passthrough mode in Encore - that is to say they import, and multiplex correctly but cannot be previewed.
    Hope this helps.

  • Failed to decrypt protected XML node "DTS:Password" with error 0x8009000B "Key not valid for use in specified state

    we have developed packages to do the followings
    Extract data from DB2 Source and put it in MS Sql Server 2008 database (Lets Say DatabaseA).From MS Sql Server 2008 (DatabaseA)
    we will process the data and place it in another database MS Sql Server 2008 (DatabaseB)
    We have created packages in BIDS..We created datasource connection in Datasource folder in BIDS..Which has DB2 Connection and both Ms Sql Server connection (Windows authentication-Let
    say its pointing to the server -ServerA which has DatabaseA and DatabaseB).The datasource connections will be used in packages during development.
    For deployment we have created Package Configuration which will have both DB2 Connection and MS SqlServer connection in the config
    We deployed the packages in different MS SqlServer by changing the connectionstring in the config for DB2 and MS SqlServer...
    While runing the package we are getting the following error message
    Code: 0xC0016016     Source:       Description: Failed to decrypt protected XML node "DTS:Password" with error 0x8009000B "Key not valid for
    use in specified state.". You may not be authorized to access this information. This error occurs when there is a cryptographic error. Verify that the correct key is available.

    Hi Surendiran,
    This is because the package has been created by somebody else and the package is being deployed under sombody else's account. e.g. If you are the creator then the package is encryption set according to your account and the package setup in SQL server is
    under a different user account.
    This happens because the package protection level is set to EncryptSensitiveWithUserKey which encrypts
    sensitive information using creator's account name.
    As a solution:
    Either you have to set up the package in SQL server under your account (which some infrastructures do not allow).
    OR
    Set the package property Protection Level to "DontSaveSensitive" and add a configuration file
    to the package and set the initial values for all the variables and all the connection manager in that configuration file (which might be tedious of-course).
    OR
    The third options (which I like do) is to open the package file and delete the password encryption entries from the package. Do note that this is not supported by designer and every time you make changes to the connection managers these encryption entries come
    back.
    Hope this helps.

  • Failed to decrypt protected XML node "DTS:Password" with error 0x8009000B

    Hi,
    I have developed several SSIS packages with the last Beta of VS2005 / SQL Server CTP. After the public release I tried to uninstall the CTP-Versions to install the msdn finals but this time I got lost and was not able to satisfy the requirements of the final setup of VS2005. So I decided to install the whole pc again and after some hours I had a clean machine (XP with latest SQL Server 2005 Standard and VS2005 Professional).   Now I have tried to open my SSIS-Project but getting the following error:   Error loading ImpNetqNewsRss.dtsx: Failed to decrypt protected XML node "DTS:Password" with error 0x8009000B "Schlüssel ist im angegebenen Status nicht gültig.". You may not be authorized to access this information. This error occurs when there is a cryptographic error. Verify that the correct key is available.
    After some “googleing” I found this thread: http://forums.microsoft.com/msdn/showpost.aspx?postid=22739&siteid=1   If I’m right the solution should be to use a Package Password, but I can’t figure out where I have to go enter/change a password. I even can’t remember I that ever used a password on my old installation for a dtsx-package??   Any help is welcome…   Regards, Dirk

      Let's Say your package name is MyPackage
      In Visual Studio  Go to Control Flow Tab.
      Righ Click on an empty area inside the window not clicking  "Data Flow Component" .  pop up menu click the the properties to get to the properties window of MyPackage package.
    Under the Security Area -> You will see
            ProtectionLevel              -- Change that to EncryptSensitiveWithPassword
            PackagePassword          -- enter password->  temp
    This should do the trick however to be sure:
    Below you will connection managers:
    Database Connections (if more than one preform on all)
      Double Click your connection to get the property pages. Click "ALL" under the Connection Link on Left Side. Scroll Down to Security Area.
      Provide the followings:
       Password  (for the sql userid being used)
       Persist Security Info  = True
    Save the Package and connect to SQL Integration Srvices in SQL Manager  (To Server e.g; DBServer (Integration Services)
      Stored Packages -> MSDB -->  Right Click --> choose Import Package
      in the property dialog box
                  Package Location :   File System
                  Package Path  -- Choose the location of your dtsx file.  (MyPackage.dtsx)
      Leave everything default.
      Click OK.
      Dialog box will appear asking for the Package Password
      Provide the password-> temp
      You have successfully imported the package called MyPackage.
      In order to create a job.
      In the job Step->
           Type:  SQL Server Integration Services Package
           In the General Tab:
                     Package Source :  SSIS Package Store
                     Server : DBServer  (Where we stored our package above)
        Click the button for the package:  Choose your package  (MyPackage)
       Click OK :
        It will ask the package password again :  temp
                    Package has successfully been loaded to Job Step.  Now you can schedule and do a test run on the job.
      Thanks for the patience of reading for those who are expert.

  • How to modify DTS packages with minimal changes?

    Hello All,
    Our client have around 500 DTS packages. Each package loads the data in a file into SQL Server 2000 database. Due to some changes in thier transaction systems, now we will receive more than one file (as of now 2 files) with same structure (and different
    file name) that needs to be loaded into same table in SQL Server 2000. In the destination we are expected to add a new column which identifies from which file the particular record was loaded. Currently, the DTS packages have a configurator task which is configured
    with file name (using INI file).
    We are expecting to do this with minimal change in DTS packages so that the existing functionality is not affected.
    Please suggest me with some inputs to achieve this?
    Thanks in advance.
    Ganesh S

    AFAIK, only manual changes available in DTS for its packages being binary objects.
