Decrypting SSIS packages to a file directory

Hi!
I have several hundred SSIS packages that are decrypted. I want to decrypt all the files to a file directory and I have
the password. How can I decrypt all the packages from the SSIS framework?
Regards
User77

I assume you have 100s of packages that are encrypted with a password in presumably MSDB (SSIS 2008?).
Well, regardless, use DTUtil http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms162820.aspx to copy them (via a script) to file system specifying the /Dec <password> key.

  • Query SSIS packages details from file system

    Hi All,
    I have around 500 packages (SQL 2005) deployed in file system & all this packages are running on daily basis via SQL agent. Now I need to migrated all 500 packages into SQL server 2008 R2.
    There is no inventory to track which package belogs to which team and any other information.
    Now, I need a method to query the pakages connection string details with database respective. Is there any method?
    Thanks

  • SSIS Package - Create LGX file

    Hi All
    Does anybody know if it is possible to validate and save an LGF file through an ssis package. I tried using the admin task (validate logic) but it does not seem to re-process the LGX file.
    Regards,
    Byron

    Validate is not creating the lgx file. But you can use lgf file instead of lgx and the validation it can provide you the information if the logic from that file is good or not.
    Lgx file is creating when you are doing validat and save (and save option is the one creating the lgx file).
    I hope this will help you.

  • Getting XML data of SSIS Package (which is located in File System) from a query

    Hi,
    We have around 200 SSIS packages deployed to File System. These pacakges are being scheduled using SQL Agent job.
    So, currently I have a list of all the packages and their respective File Path.
    Note : **They are NOT deployed to Server**.
    Now, my task is to search all the packages which has a specific connection in it.
    From the below blog, I got to know we can achieve this by querying the XML data of the SSIS Package.
    https://www.simple-talk.com/sql/ssis/-exploring-ssis-architecture-and-execution-history-through-scripting/.
    But in the above article they are getting the XML definition of the Package from msdb(as it was deployed to server).
    In my requirement, SSIS Packages are in File System. Is there any way to to get the XML definition of these packages using a query.
    Please let me know if the above requirement is not clear or if any further information is required.
    Thanks

    Hi Visakh & Praveen,
    Thanks for the response.
    @Visakh: The query provided by you gives the information about all the connection strings in the package.
    @Praveen: The query in the link provided by you lists the values of all the properties of the package like MaxerrorCount, CreatorName, CreatorDate and other properties.
    I think, we may have to slightly modify this query to get the connection string values
    Praveen, nice to hear from you after a long time and that too in this forum !! :) Hope you are doing good.

    Query should return only one value. Instead it is returning more than one value. Check the query result in ssms.

  • Can't change the connection string of SSIS package with derived columns?

    We upgraded SQL server 2008 to 2012, copied and converted all SSIS packages from Visual Studio 2008 to 2010.  When I opened a package in VS 2010 and tried to change the connection string, in the local connection managers, if the data source is another
    SSIS package B(.dtsx file) with derived columns, I can't change the connection string of package B. When I opened the file connection manager editor for package B and tried to locate a dtsx file in another location, saved the change, reopened the project.
    Package B still pointed to previous file.  Other packages without derived columns work fine. Any thoughts?

    We are using the package deployment model and refer to other packages in the same project. If
    we changed the path of package B (with derived columns) to "D:\Visual Studio 2010\xxxx", and refer it in package A, in the A's connection manager, the connection string of package B is still its previous location  "D:\Visual
    Studio 2008\xxxx". When we ran the package A in the SQL server agent, the data source is still
     "D:\Visual
    Studio 2008\xxxx", so how can I change it to "D:\Visual
    Studio 2010\xxxx"? Why has the package C (without derived columns) no such problem? thanks.

  • Executing an SSIS package from TSQL without using xp_cmdshell?

    How can I execute an SSIS package from TSQL without using xp_cmdshell?
    I have a web-app which calls some SQL which executes my SSIS package (a DTSX file, but stored in the server). But the security policy for my application won't permit me use to xp_cmdshell.
    I want to do this:-
    DECLARE @returncode int
    EXEC @returncode = xp_cmdshell 'dtexec /sq pkgOne"'
    Is there another way for executing a Package without going to the command line (e.g. is there some other system stored proc)?
    Thanks

    Whoa - don't go taking my words as saying "it should work".  I never said that - I just said I know less than you :)  I'm assuming that since the CLR is .Net, and you can launch a package from .Net code, you may be able to do so from the CLR.
    But... I also know that CLR has lots of restrictions on it, and some of those may cause you to be unable to run it from the CLR.
    One thing I will say - I've never heard of anyone doing this.  That's got to tell you something about:
    Whether it can be done at all... although I think I'd have heard/seen something about how it's not possible.
    Whether it's a good idea... maybe other routes are less trouble.

  • SQL job containing a SSIS package

    Hi,
    I'm trying to run a job that executes a SSIS package.
    Some of the blocks in the SSIS package refers to files stored on network folders.
    Each time i run the job manually i get an error message saying that the file can not be opened because it is already opened or because i have no permission to access it.
    If i move the file to a local folder and change the SSIS package accordingly than the job runs fine.
    what settings should i change in order for the job to be able to access the network folder?
    Thanks, Udi

    Hi
    Check the account which executes the job has access permission on the network folder.

  • How to make SSIS packages automatically read the input file from a path?

    Currently I am using a SSIS package to read data from a .dat file and load it into SQL Server tables.
    I am placing the input .dat file on the desktop. In the connection manager -> Browse option, I am pointing this file to create connection.
    The file naming convention is like - aSNAP_Data_20140926_P-2014-09-26_07.02.36
    However, I need the SSIS package to automatically read the input file from a folder which is located in a remote server. This folder has lots of files where input files are added on a daily basis with the date value in the file name as mentioned above.
    I want to schedule the SSIS package to run daily and take the latest file in the folder based on the date.
    Please let me know how to do it. Any help would be highly appreciated.....
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi SQL_SSIS_Dev,
    According to your description, you want to get the latest file from a path to a SQL Server table. After testing the issue in my environment, we can refer to the following steps to achieve your requirement:
    Create two variables, VarFolderPath stores the folder path in which our files exist, VarFileName hold the value of most recent File Name.
    Drag a Script Task from SSIS Toolbox to Control Flow Pane, then select “User::VarFolderPath” as ReadOnlyVariables, select “User::VarFileName” as ReadWriteVariables.
    Then Edit Script with the C# code below:
    Add “using System.IO;” into namespace.
    Add the code below under Main function:
    var directory= new DirectoryInfo(Dts.Variables["User::VarFolderPath"].Value.ToString());
                FileInfo[] files = directory.GetFiles();
                DateTime lastModified = DateTime.MinValue;
                foreach (FileInfo file in files)
                    if (file.LastWriteTime > lastModified)
                        lastModified = file.LastWriteTime;
                        Dts.Variables["User::VarFileName"].Value = file.ToString();
    Drag a Data Flow Task to Control Flow Pane and connect to Script Task.
    In the Data Flow Task, drag a Flat File Source with a file in the source folder as all the files have same structure as the File name.
    Add the property below the Flat File Connection Manger expression:
    Property: ConnectionString      Expression: @[User::VarFolderPath] +"\\"+ @[User::VarFileName]
    Drag an OLE DB Destination that connect to the Flat File Source, then configure a table to store the data.

  • How to create a dynamic SSIS package for multiple flat file destinations

    Hi,
    I have to create a ssis package which has single data flow task and inside that I have 23 source (sql- select * from - statements)- destination (flat files, 23 distinct) connection.
    Now for each product I have to create separate SSIS package (i.e. if prod=abc then these read select * from abc_tables and 23 abc_ txt files)
    I want to do it dynamically, means only single package and inside that variables will take select * values for each source-dest connection (so i believe 23 variables) and same for destination flat files.
    Let me know. :)
    ANK HIT - if reply helps, please mark it as ANSWER or helpful post

    Sorry It seems you're contradicting yourself. you say I know my source and dest structure and the you're
    asking all I want is to have a dynamic structure
    what does that mean?
    and reading your next sentence
    I want to run a package for 5 products, instead of creating 5 ssis packages with 23 source- dest connection, I would
    like to have one with only 23 source- dest connections
    What I feel is what you're looking for is to  have a looping structure to loop through each of the 5
    products.
    In that case what you could do is this
    1. Create a object variable in SSIS
    2. Use a Execute SQL Task to populate the variable with all available products (I think you'll have a master table for that). Set ResultSet property to Full ResultSet and then in ResultSet tab map Object variable to 0 th index
    3. use a ForEachLoop container with ADO .NET recordset enumerator and map to object variable. Create a variable of datatype same as that of Product identifier field to get individual values out
    4. Inside loop create your data flow task with 23 source destination connection. In the query part use a parameter for product field and map it to the variable containing product value to get only data for the product.

  • How to execute an SSIS package on a scheduled basis from remote server and pass in input files

    I have an application server and a db server.  My db server has all things SQL Server stored on it (DBMS, SSRS, SSIS, etc.)  I have several nightly batch process SSIS packages (dtsx files currently) that will pickup an input file and import them
    into the database.  I would like to execute all batch processes from my application server as I have quite a few other ones as well that do other stuff outside of SQL Server via powershell.  My question is how to do this?  Is there away to execute
    them remotely via DTexec.exe, should I set them up as Agent jobs and somehow pass in the file names\location (how?), create and SSIS catalog, etc.?
    I need to easily be able to see if the packages execute successfully or not and if not capture the detailed information of why they failed from the remote server so I can use that to drive my process flow logic in the batch processes.

    Hi Jason,
    According to your description, you want to execute a package on a schedule and receive notification when package ends with error in the job.
    After testing the issue in my environment, we can directly add the package in a step of a job, then add a schedule and set the Alert and Notification property in the job to achieve your requirement. For more details, please see:
    Create a Database Mail in the SSMS.
    Right-click the SQL Server Agent services to Enable mail profile, then select the appropriate Mail profile.
    Under the Operators folder, create an operator with the correct E-mail name.
    Right-click the Jobs folder to add a new job.
    In the Steps pane, New a step with SQL Server Integration Services Package Type to run the package.
    In the Schedules pane, New a schedule for the job.
    In the Alerts pane, New an alert with SQL Server event alert, then enable Notify operators option with an operator in the Response pane.
    In the Notifications pane, enable Email option with same operator and When the job fails selection.
    Then when the package fails, the job would be failed and we can receive the error message in the mailbox.
    Besides, please make sure the account that execute the job has correct permissions for the file, for the folder that contains the file, and for the database.

    You need to split your data and create (at least 5) worksheet targets.
    For example if you have a ROW_NUMBER column you can use for instance a
    Conditional Split for something like:
    ROW_NUMBER % 5 == 0 for Case 1 (excel 1)
    ROW_NUMBER % 5 == 1 for Case 2 (excel 2)
    ROW_NUMBER % 5 == 2 for Case 3 (excel 3)
    ROW_NUMBER % 5 == 3 for Case 4 (excel 4)
    ROW_NUMBER % 5 == 4 for Case 5 (excel 5)

    yes, I am able to create the file to D: , but didn't check with the C:.
