Default email address in Ical alarm

Hi all. I am having problems setting the default address in alarms in Ical. The situation is like this:
-I had 2 emails, "a" and "b", setup in my address book, both in my account (word "me" overlay on my picture).
-When I wanted to configure an email alarm quickly in Ical, I had, in the drop down menu, the options "send email to "a" 1 day before"..."2 days before"...etc.
-So I went into address book and deleted the "a" email since I now just use "b".
-What happens is that the drop down menu still refers to "send email to "a"", but when I click on it, the email it appears is in fact, "b".
I was wondering if this is a bug, or that drop down list if configured elsewhere. Or is it some kind of history.
Thanks.

My wife's having pretty much the same problem on her Snow Leopard MBP - two addresses for "me" in Address Book, iCal displayed the first but sent to the second. She then deleted the first "me" address in Address Book, then iCal displayed a blank address in the Alert menu and wouldn't send an alert ...
Is there a way to rebuild iCal's links to Address Book or maybe delete which plist file? Have tried rebuild permissions, deleted any instance of that first address in Mail's Previous Recipients list, also deleted that first address in another entry in Address Book.
Thanks for any insights.

  • Adding a new email address to iCal alarms

This is probably very simple: but how do I add a completely new email address to the alarms? Each time I try to add a new alarm, it gives me the options that are already created - and I need to add a whole new email address. Help, please!

    dixiebelle,
    Welcome to Apple Discussions.
Select (click) the "alarm" field in the event Info window, then choose "Email" from the drop down menu. Click and hold that selection, and you will then be presented with all of the email accounts which are listed in your Mail application, and your "My Card" in your Address Book application.

  • I can't seem to sync my calendar on my iphone to iCal because the default email address associated with my calendar on my iphone was to an old work email address that I no longer have.

I can't seem to sync my calendar on my iphone to iCal because the default email address associated with my calendar on my iphone was to an old work email address that I no longer have. When I go to ICal it asks for the username and password which I no longer have. The calendar is still on my phone (even though the email account is on my phone but doesn't work) Is there a way to copy my calendar to a different email address on my iphone? I have now set the default email account for the calendar to a current email address but I still can't figure out how to merge my iphone calendars, copy the iphone calendar to iCal, or save my iphone calendar to my mac. Also, I read in ITunes to check "sync to ICal" but my  ITunes under my iphone and info just says "Sync Calendars" which doesn't transfer it to iCal when I sync my phone.

  • Choosing from which email address an ical invitation comes from

I have several email addresses and would like to choose each time from which email address my ical invitation comes from. Now it always comes from my work email address and I definitely do not want that. I went into my card in the address book and saw that my work email address was the top email address so I deleted that and entered it in again, hoping it would then be at the bottom but no, as soon as I saved my contact card the work email address sneaked up to the top.
How can I choose (without fiddling with the contact card) from which email address my ical invitation comes from?
Hope there is someone out there with a solution

I'm at work so I am not on my Mac but if memory serves me correctly, the email is sent from your default email address which is set in Apple Mail's preferences. Currently, I have my default send address set to "whichever account is selected".
So, in Mail if my MobileMe email address is selected, the invite is sent from MobileMe. If Gmail is selected, Gmail sends the invite.
Give that a try and see if it works.

  • How to set default email address for input

    G'day all
Summary: I'm sick, it's difficult to type, and a combination of autocorrect, default Shift key settings for input fields and my iPad completely ignoring my default email account is making it laborious to input my email address. Help!
(Edit: I had a micro-brainwave and checked my "Me" card in Contacts, since I have Safari set to autofill from that card. My default email address is not listed first in the card. I've now put it on top, Gmail second and "me.com" last. I'll comment later on if I see this help with point 3 below.)
    Details:
I love my shiny new iPad2. I really do. But autocorrect is driving me crrrrrazy when I try to input my email address.
Typing in general is an issue for me, because I am disabled and have difficulties with coordination and movement. On my laptop (MacBook Pro mid 2009), I used TextExpander. It lets you set an abbreviation for any text, so you can just type that abbreviation instead of the whole thing, and TextExpander automagically inputs the whole thing for you.
I have a long email address, because my ISP has quite a long domain name. So only typing 4 characters (my abbreviation) instead of the whole 23 characters was a big help for me.
    Enter the iPad.
I need to use the iPad now, because my laptop is now too heavy for my legs (and I do occasionally need a full-on laptop, so the MacBook Air isn't the solution). The iPad in general has been great for me. The simplification of the interface (while annoying at times, e.g. not being able to view full headers in an email) saves brain cycles, so I can read for longer.
However, where on my laptop I only needed to input 4 chars for my email address, on my iPad I have to input the whole 23 chars. How many places online are you asked to input your email address? Way too many. Safari may eventually catch up and record some of them, but currrently, I'm using too much of my day's energy just on trying to input my email address. (Note: this post is written on my laptop, so I can use my abbreviations.)
TextExpander is available for iOS, but due to Apple's current refusal to allow integration with its apps, TextExpander isn't allowed to input stuff directly. Just like with the indispensable password program 1Password, you have to switch from Safari to the other app., search for and select and copy the text you want, then switch back to Safari, select the field and press Paste.
    Grrr.
I may get desperate enough to go through those steps each time, if things don't improve with my email address. My problems are:
    1. Very few email-address fields in webpages currently have the appropriate settings to instruct the iPad keyboard not to start with the Shift key down. This means every time you try to input your email address, it will start with an upper-case letter.
Half the time I don't notice until I've got part-way through typing my address, so I have to delete all those chars and start again. About a quarter of the time, after deleting, I don't notice that the Shift key has been activated again, so I go through the whole process again.
    2. Even when the email-address field turns off the Shift key, or when I remember to do it myself before entering text, autocorrect will insist on changing the first letter back to upper-case, because my username is also my first name. Cue more deleting and getting confused.
    3. This is the big one: once my username is up there, autocorrect insists on entering my "me.com" email address. This is the email address I use least. When I laboriously (again) delete this text and start again, it will either insist again on "me.com", or input my Gmail address. That is the email address I use second least. Autocorrect never inputs my main email address, set as my default account in the Mail-Con-Cal Settings. (This is a POP-only account.)
    4. Even if I do manage to input my whole email address correctly, autocorrect will insist on capitalizing the first letter of the domain name (which is also a location). Cue yet more deletion and retyping.
Are there any ways to avoid wasting so much energy on trying to input my email address?
Is there any way to set the default input email address? Or to tell the iPad/Safari that an email address field doesn't require the Shift key?
I've had my iPad for nearly three months now, using it for my day-to-day activities, and I've been hoping this problem would gradually go away, that the software would finally catch on to my main email address (from the default account) which I have input over and over (and OVER) into email-address fields.
    Evidently not.
    Any ideas?
Thanks in advance for any help you can offer.

As Roosevelt suggested, you can turn off Auto Correction in the keyboard settings. Go to Settings>General>Keyboard>Auto Correction>Off.
This will also turn off spell check (unfortunately) and there is no fix for that. Auto Caps can also be turned off as well and so can the keyboard shortcut for the space/period. Frankly, all of these features drive me nuts and I wish the iOS allowed for more control, but it does not.
As fars as typing your email address, be aware that even if you type your email address in all caps it still works. So if Autofill insists on capitalizing the first letter in your name in the email address - and it will insist on doing so - you can just let it go as is and it will still work. Doesn't really get to the heart of the matter but it would save you the laborious deleting and retyping.
Having said that, when the Auto Correction suggests a word or wants to set a capital latter, you can tap the "x" in the pop up suggestion to ignore that word, cap, whatever. The dictionary is then supposed to "learn" your word if you refuse that suggested word enough times. This is another feature that seems to have a mind of it's own at times since sometimes it may take more than a few attempts to get the Auto Correct to not come up and instead allow your chosen word to be freely typed as desired.
Lastly, with regard to your correct email address popping up, that is another case of if repeated time and time again, It should be another case of the iOS "learning" through repetition that your default email should popup when you begin entering the address.
You could try to rectify all of this by resetting all of your settings and clearing Autofill but you would be starting all over again which is something I think you would rather avoid.
    Settings>General>Reset>Reset All Settings
    Settings>General>Reset>Reset Keyboard Dictionary
Settings>Safari>Autofill -tap names and passwords>Clear all
As Roosevelt suggested, submit feedback, and I hope you find some resolution to this.
Quick Note - I originally typed this post on my iPad and when I read a few of the words that were substituted by auto correct - I quickly turned to my iMac to change the words. I do feel your pain with regard to auto Correct!

I have read the help info, but I can't find how to change the default email address, to the one that is my adobe I'd?

Adobe Reader for iOS doesn't set the default email address when you email a PDF.
It's found in the Settings app:
Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > Mail > Default Account

  • How can I change my default email address?

I'm changing to a different ISP, but the default email address in TB is lodged with the old ISP. How can I change the default to one of my Gmail addresses?
    Thanks.

From the menu bar select '''Tools-Account Settings'''
Select the account to make the default.
At the bottom of the account list is '''Account Actions-Set as Default'''
No menu bar? Press the alt key.

  • Why is one of my other email addresses trumping my default email address when I reply to emails?

    Good morning.
I have several (4 different) email addresses imported into my imac mail program. I have gone through the settings and configured the program to best of my ability. I have set one email address as my default account. For some reason when I compose a new email message...the mail program will use one of my other email addresses (non-default email address) instead.  Do I have something set up incorrectly?
    Thanks
    Alex H.

open up your mail preferences and in the composing section there is place to choose the default email address for composing new messages.
if you have several email accts though whatever acct you're in replying to the message will always default as the reply from address since that is the address it was originally sent to.

  • User's default email address for use with Answers

How to use user's default email address for use with Answers?
When I was referring to the Admin Guide I found the below description for email session variable.
Can somebody please help me with this.
Contains the user's default email address for use with Answers. If the delivery option of Answers is enabled, an email device using this address will be created for the user upon first log in. Users can override this address by changing their account settings in Oracle BI Presentation Services.
    Thanks,
    Swetha

I think the documentation is wrongly saying that it will be used by Answers. The email will be used by Delivers, the BI Scheduler component.

  • How to set Default email address(TBU if email of approver is not available)

    Hi,
We are using oracle purchasing (11.5.10). We have observed that whenever a requisition goes for approval, it goes to a definite email id, in case a member in the chain does not have the email specified in "Users". Can someone please assist where do we set this default email address?
    thanks
    abbas

Actually the notification PO APPROVE PDF should error out (MAIL_STATUS as ERROR) as the email is not found. I am not exactly sure on how we can redirect but am sure that you can forward the notifications to a generic user account like testworkflow (this is typically done by DBA).
If you are OK with customization of POAPPRV WF then try modifying the Notify Approver Business event to pick a generic email address when a fnd_user email address is not found.
Keeping these things aside is it not a easy way to query for the null email id's in fnd_user and update them appropriately?

  • Cannot make default email address to work

I have two email accounts configured into my iPad. One a pop account and the other gmail account. I have set the default email address to be from my pop account. Whenever I send out an email, even from a reply to my pop account address - the out going reply shows my gmail address, instead of the default pop account address. I have tried almost everything to get this to work properly - but just can't.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks
    cammot

Try going to the default account Settings > Mail and delete the account you have specified as the default.
Then Settings > Add account and reenter the information by hand. Make sure you enter the outgoing server information carfully, user information such as password, and then specify that as the default.
When you enter the password, watch the characters as you type, they appear in plain text for a second or two before becoming dots.
    See if that helps.

  • Can You set a Default Email Address when sending Emails

I have multiple email accounts set up. When I compose a new message, it always uses the send address of the message that is selected in the open window. Is there anyway to set a particular address as default or better yet don't pick an address and force me to select one from the pull down list?
    Doug Eaton

    Hello Doug.
Copied from Setting the account your email is sent from.
If you have set up multiple accounts in Mail, when you create a new message, the account the message is sent from is the one associated with the currently selected mailbox. If the current mailbox is listed in the On My Mac section of the mailbox list and is not associated with any particular account, then your message is sent from the first account listed in the Accounts pane of Mail Preferences.
You can select a different account to use to send the mail.
To send a message from a different account, choose the account from the Account pop-up menu when you're composing the message.
To change the order in which accounts are listed in the mailbox list, drag the account names into the order you want. You can also rearrange the account order in the Accounts pane of Mail Preferences.
Tiger Mail includes a default email account selection when selecting New to compose a new message regardless which mailbox is currently selected.

  • Aattach as email option in Acrobat X Standard doesn't send to the default email address in Outlook

I am running Microsoft Office 2010 Proffesional + and in Outlook I have two separate (not aliases) email accounts that are attached to the same .pst file.
When I open a pdf file with Adobe Acrobat, and try to "Attach to Email", Adobe opens up Outlook and creates a new message like it's supposed to, but it does not select the default email account as the sending account.
I've tried removing the secondary account and then re-creating as new, but I still get the same result. I also created a new profile and configured both email accounts but didn't worked. BTW i have installed the most recent updates for both OS (Win 7)and Acrobat
    Any ideas?
    Thanks in advance

Sorry totally my fault - no issue at all... more a problem with the tester! users with an external email address are receiving the email it just seems when the email is sent from Apex standalone is appears in the inbox but when it is sent from within an iframe it is sent straight to the junk mail by the email client... still a little strange there is a difference in behaviour but at least it doesn't totally fail as I first thought.
