Default install

Having trouble loging in for the first time.
I just installed the latest release from 10.2 on windows, tried admin/admin without any success. I noticed that only one of the htmldb services is running- dbcontrol, ascontrol is not running and gives an error when I try and start it.
thanks,

first try trashing prefs.
If that does not work.
Uninstall Photoshop and reinstall.
If that does not work.
Use the CS3 Cleanscript.
that will delete and remove all CS3 now reinstall.

  • How can I reboot a default install of arch remotely?

I set up an arch box at school today, and it was the last day of school. I got it all set up the way I wanted, including openssh and the proper entry in rc.conf.
Imagine my expression when I realized that I forgot to start sshd, and didn't reboot the box.
I would like a way to use another box at school to reboot the arch box. I removed the default deny all in hosts.deny, and installed some stuff. I didn't reboot the box or start the daemons. Everything I need to start is in rc.conf, so a reboot is all that should be necessary.
Is there a security hole that I can use in the default install that will allow me to reboot the box?
School's out for summer break and I can't get back to the server room for a while.

You will have to use the social conditioning security hole for this one.  Call up the secretary/janitor/security person and ask them to power cycle the box.

  • Invalid signature when trying to install Photoshop CC extension using the Adobe Extension Manager CC and default installed Photoshop CC extensions won't load

I have a Creative Cloud subscription for Photoshop CC. All Creative Clouds products are updated to the latest versions. When I tried to install Tony Kuyper's TKActionv3 Photoshop extension using the Adobe Extension Manager CC on my PC desktop, I received an error message that the extension contained an invalid signature and wouldn't be installed. I had previously installed the extension on my laptop without any problems. At the same time, I also noticed the default installed Photoshop CC extensions (e.g., Adobe Exchange, Kuler, Mini Bridge, Behance) could not be loaded using the Windows/Extension command. I receive an error message that the command could not be completed because the extension could not be loaded. After contacting Tony Kuyper, he suggested that I try the steps mentioned in the following weblink: https://forums.adobe.com/message/6029768. The steps basically consist of uninstalling and reinstalling all the Creative Cloud apps associated with Photoshop CC. I tried the steps multiple times, but I am still having the same problems. I can find the default installed Photoshop CC extensions on my machine, so I don't know why they can't be loaded.
    Thanks for your assistance,
    Mark Curtis

    Hi Mark
You say everything is up to date?  And you have tried reinstalling all the CC apps?  Is Windows also fully up to date?  Hmmm...  That could be tricky.
What version of Windows are you using?  Have a look in Task Manager > Processes and see if 'CEPServiceManager.exe *32' is listed as running?
If not, I don't know where it would be installed from, and we'd need someone like Chris Cox to join the thread to tell us, but my guess is that it would install along with the CC Desktop Application Manager.  Windows 8.1 can be problematic, and a bit fussy about the order of things, and it is definitely worth adopting best practice when installing your CC apps.  That means restarting your computer, and right clicking the Desktop Application manager and running as Administrator.
How many CC apps are you running?  If just Photoshop, Bridge, Expansion manager etc. then - and I hate to say this - perhaps have another go at reinstalling, but run the Cleaning tool after uninstalling.
Use the CC Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems | CC, CS3-CS6
Try some other Extensions before the Tony Kuyper's TKActionv3.  GuideGuide is a favourite of mine, as well as Dmonzon tools, and maybe Russell Brown's Flypaper Textures.
I have to say that I have had problems with the CC Extension Manager a while back, but simply reinstalling just the Extension Manager fixed it.  Perhaps CEPServiceManager.exe *32 installs with Extension Manager?  Heck, maybe start with just trying that before reinstalling all your CC apps.
If you are still stuck, I'd risk sending Chris Cox a PM, but not until you triple check that your video card driver is up to date from the card maker's website.
Good luck, and be sure to let us know how you get on.

    Zhihong,
I received your e-mail with the questions below. I answered some of your questions: answers in red and underlined. In addition to posting in the forum, I also replied to your e-mail address, but the message was returned as undeliverable. What e-mail address should I use for sending you the log files.
    Thanks,
    Mark
    Hi Mark,
Here is a workaround to make the extension display again:
You can bypass the check for extension signature by editing the CSXS preference properties file, located at:
    • Win: regedit > HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/Adobe/CSXS.5
    • Mac: /Users/<username>/Library/Preferences/com.adobe.CSXS.5.plist
Add a new entry “PlayerDebugMode” of type "string" with the value of "1". And then restart Photoshop and try again. Please let us know if this work around can work.
And could you please help to offer following information for us to find the root cause? Thanks:
    1. Which PS version are you using? On what platform, Windows or Mac OS? Photoshop CC (64-Bit) 14.2.1 x64, Windows 7 Ultimate (64-Bit)
    2. The extension cannot be loaded since when? 5/25/2014
    3. What is the version of imslib.dll/.framework and PlugPlugOwl.dll/.framework? It locates at path like “C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CC (64 Bit)”. 7.0.0.145, 4.2.0.36
    4. Can you get the CSXS log and send it to us? Please add a “LogLevel” key with value “6” in registry (PS should be restarted for the log level change to take effect):
    • Win: regedit > HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/Adobe/CSXS.5
    • Mac: /Users/USERNAME/Library/Preferences/com.adobe.CSXS.5.plist
Then restart PS and the log file will be generated at:
    • Win: C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\Temp\csxs5-PHSP.log
    • Mac: /Users/USERNAME/Library/Logs/CSXS/csxs5-PHSP.log
    Thanks!

  • How to install MySQL 5 and remove default install

    Hi all,
I have some problems to make MySQL 5 works fine on Mac OS X server.
I have installed the package (http://dev.mysql.com/downloads/mysql/5.0.html) but a instance of the old mysql still running.
Can someone explain me how to remove the default install and make the new one works?
PowerBook G4   Mac OS X (10.4.3)   Mac OS X Server

"pwd in directory /usr/local/mysql return /usr/local/mysql"
I didn't really address this in my previous post, but this could be a problem. This seems to indicate that there is an actual directory named mysql in /usr/local. That shouldn't be the case. If it's empty, you should remove it and replace it with a symbolic link to /usr/local/mysql-standard-5.0.16-osx10.3-powerpc (assuming that's the version you have installed).
To create this link, cd to /usr/local and enter:
    ln -s /usr/local/mysql-standard-5.0.16-osx10.3-powerpc mysql
Or you may want to run the installer again. I would hope that the installer would not fail without giving you an error, and since creating this link is not necessary for the installation, it probably just ignored it, but the presence of the directory would have prevented it from creating the link, so it could have interfered with the normal operation of the installer.
Normally when you install MySQL it installs into the /usr/local directory, creating a folder with the full name of the version, e.g. "mysql-standard-5.0.16-osx10.3-powerpc" in the case of the current version. It then creates a symbolic link to that directory called "mysql" in the /usr/local directory. That's why, normally, if you cd to /usr/local/mysql and issue pwd it should give you the full path to the current MySQL installation directory.
The beauty of this system is that it leaves your current installation intact, so if you need to back out, because some of your applications are not compatible with the new version, you only need to re-point that symbolic link to point back to the old version.
It also allows you to transfer your data very easily. Even if you forget to extract the data folder from the old version before you installed the new one, your data is still there, safe and sound. (That's why I've been recommending leaving that folder alone until you sort out the problems with the installation of the new version.)

  • Why does the default install make a partition for boot?

The installer, if one lets it prepare one's hard drive, makes a partition for boot, and formats it as a second extended filesystem. I know that people debate the need for/desirability of a partition for boot, and I do not mean to revive that debate. Rather, I am interested in knowing why the Arch developers, like the developers of some other distributions, such as Gentoo, but unlike some, such as Slackware, call for a boot partition, with ext2fs file system, on a default install. Should Arch users interpret this as a recommendation? Also, why is the partition quite a bit larger (although tiny compared to the available space on hard drives these days) than seems necessary?
    Thanks.

I've looked at a couple of books and a fair number of internet posts on this, and I must say that these responses are a good deal more concise and clear than what I have come across. I did find it interesting that the Slackware on-line manual doesn't make any effort to encourage it. On the other hand, what you guys are saying sounds sensible enough.
I have both Arch and Gentoo running, sharing a boot partition, which I set at 50MB. I'm using 25% of it, which is why I ask about size - obviously not in terms of overall capacity, but in terms of need.
Why not a lot less - say, even if one is considering dual boot, 20MB? And where do numbers like 32MB come from (the Arch, and indeed Gentoo, default, also referred to by T-Dawg)? Why not use round numbers?
Does 32MB have some rational/irrational/astrological/lucky 7 connection to 64MB RAM, sort of like designating 128MB as swap instead of using numbers like 120MB or 125MB or 130MB?
As you probably know, in Gentoo this stuff is done on the command line in fdisk, and I found it quite odd to be told in their manual to tell fdisk that the boot partition should be 32MB (assuming a single operating system) and swap should be 256MB, especially since fdisk and my hard drive took these numbers with a grain of salt and conspired to adjust them to slightly different numbers complete with decimals. Arch, on default, does the same.
Then I find out that with two operating systems, I'm using about 13MB out of 50MB (or rather 49.9MB, as fdisk and my hard drive decreed)
To change the subject a bit, I think that it is a good idea that the current version of Arch .08 would create, on the default track, a /home partition. There are some nice ideas in the install dialogue, including in the section on setting up a hard drive.

  • Very simple question, how do you configure windows 8.1 to use a SF card as the default install location for software applications?

Very simple question, how do you configure windows 8.1 to use a SD card / external drive as the default install location for software applications? Primarily interested in apps installed from the windows store. This should be available in the settings
charm within the windows store. This must have been overlooked in the development of windows 8.1 or is a bug.

The registry method does not work with 8.1.  I found this out the hard way.  Doing it on 8.1 will leave you reinstalling the OS if you didn't do a SRP beforehand.

  • Default install plugins PS CS5?

Can anyone give me a list of the default plugins installed in PS CS5 on a Mac? I did a manual drag and drop of all my old plugins only to realise that most were incompatible (32 bit v. 64 bit etc.) and without going into a re-install of PS I would simply like to revert to the "default" installed ones. I cannot find the old useful "install log" for CS5. thanks and cheers! sam

Thanks very much for taking the time to answer that one Simon but I hate to say that I already knew that answer. What I was really looking for was perhaps a screenshot or text version of the plugins folder of PS CS5 in an expanded hierarchy, just post install, so I could see what the default install of plugins was. I won't go into why I wanted to see this but suffice to say it's for my own particular form of madness!!       Your input however was appreciated. thanks again and cheers! sam

  • PS Default Install under Admin instance

Is the default install really under the Admin instance for App Server? I find this hard to believe since if I have to restart the portal server (to accept new authlessanonymous users), I have to do it from the command line?
    Why was this decision made?
I would think you would have the portal under it's own instance, then admin under another?
We tried to get it working under another instance and it wouldn't work, any ideas or comments on this?

The SUN installers in general are not robust. They assume that you want to install everything in the same instance (the DAS instance at that!) I recently attempted to install Sun Portal 7 into a seperate instance using Sun Application 8. The installer asks for the location of the instance root and docroot. (It diodn't even bother to ask if I wanted to deploy across a cluster). The install completed. I loged into the DAS console just to find that the targets of the war files was 'server' (the DAS instance) and all JVM configs were applied to that instance and not the instance I setup. However, the server policy and docroot were updated on the one I setup and not the DAS instance. Very disappointing.

  • How do you change Metro apps default install location?

I can't seem to find an answer for this any ware, I have a 120gb ssd drive that I use for my os, and some programs. I have another 1.5tb drive that has most of my applications and data. Since space is kind of limited on my ssd drive, I would
like to change the default install location for metro apps (Microsoft store apps, or what ever it's called) to point to my larger hard drive. I don't see a way of doing this myself, so I figured I would ask here. I also work for a company that
sells custom built computers, and this is a very popular setup, but I can see this quickly becoming a problem with this type of setup. Any help would be greatly appreciated :D

Here is what I did. I must warn that I haven't had any issues on my own machine doing this, but you might, so proceed with caution. Also, it's always a good idea to create a restore point before
    starting.
    1. Create a folder on your other drive that you want the applications to install to. I used the same location on my system, only on the other drive.
    2. Now open up regedit, and go to this location.
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Appx
    3. Now right click on the "Appx" folder, and go to "Permissions"
    4. Click "Advanced", and click "Change" at the top to change the owner.
    5. Type in "Administrators" for the owner, and click ok, then ok again.
    6. This should take you back to the regular permissions window. From here make sure "Administrators" or your user name have "Full Control", and click ok.
    7. Now double click on "PackageRoot", This should bring up the String Editor.
    8. Change the "Value Data" to the new folder you created, and hit ok, and close the registry editor.
    9. Lately, give your machine a reboot, and you should be all set.
Give me a click if you found this helpful :D
    I
did this to no avail.  I am getting error message "this app couldn't be installed" error code 0x80073cfd.
    I
am doing this on a Windows Surface RT.  Here is what I did:
    1. refreshed Surface to original setup
    2. uninstalled all preinstalled metro apps (could not uninstall store and IE)
    3. updated all windows updates (there's 3 and they are time consuming)
    4. Created the same folders on my SD Card (\Program Files\WindowsApps\)
    5. took ownership over appropriate registry item (HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Appx)
    6. Changed the drive letter for the "PackageRoot" (from C to D on my device)
    7. Shut down (full shut down) and restarted my device
When I got back in, I tried to install the metro apps and I got the above error.
    Any thoughts as to why?

  • Android, default install location does not have any effect

I have Just5 Spacer 2 phone running Android 4.4.2 and since I can not root it (the only application I found was supposed to support it was SRS Root, but I only managed to get partial root through it) I thought I'd at least be able to set default install location for applications to external storage, but apparently, despite the fact that adb shows those changes I made, phone continues to install to internal storage.
    [dainis@arch platform-tools]$ ./adb shell pm set-install-location 2
    [dainis@arch platform-tools]$ ./adb shell pm get-install-location
    2[external]
    Any suggestions?

By digging deeper and deeper I found a few posts/pages somewhere (didn't save sources for some reason) mentioning that this stopped working somewhere at around Gingerbread.
Those who know - is that true?

  • Renaming default install of cfusion

    Please help.
I have two web servers running Windows 2003 R2 NLB and
ColdFusion MX 7.0.2 multi-server configuration. I am trying to set
up a CF cluster between the two and have found that I must rename
one of the CF installs. I have renamed the
    {jrun-root}/servers/cfusion directory to
    {jrun-root}/servers/cfusion2 and have modified the
    {jrun-root}/lib/servers.xml file to show:
    <server>
    <name>cfusion2</name>
    <directory>{jrun.home}/servers/cfusion2</directory>
    </server>
Once this is done, however, I am unable to start the
Macromedia JRun CFusion Server service (nor either of the
ColdFusion ODBC services). The cfusion-out.log shows:
"JRun server "cfusion" does not exist, the server root null
was not found. Please verify that the C:\JRun4\lib\servers.xml file
contains valid data for this server."
I've seen where others have mentioned changing the default
install of cfusion to cfusion1 and/or cfusion2, but no one who has
encountered problems while doing so. Is there something I've
missed? Are there more files that I need to change?
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

do not cluster the cfusion instances
Create an cf instance on each machine, each having different
    names, and cluster those instances.

    Regards,

I can't open any of the links you provided. Anyway, you need to set up caching rules in the config for whatever you want to cache, whether it's html files or gifs or whatever. Either that, or you need to use surrogate-control response headers.
If you haven't already done so, my suggestion is that you read the relevant sections of the documentation and then follow up on this posting if you have further questions.

  • Weaknesses of default install

    Hello,
I have heard good things about Arch (it's like slackware, it has many Haskell packages, etc.) and as I had some time to kill I commenced the install
The install process went rather smoothly (one of the best GNU/Linux installers I have seen, but I'm mostly experienced with BSDs) and after some while I had the system installed.
So far my experiences are rather negative:
    * the default install has no nc, telnet
    * apropos doesn't work,
    * a minor annoyance that "vim" isn't to be found, but vi is vim (I'd prefer vi symlinked to vim, not vim renamed to vi),
    * there is no iptables
pacman is rather ok, afer reading the man page you can do everything you want (but I'd still prefer some "examples" section at the end of it).
Maybe some of these "weaknesses" are just perceived not real ones? For example, is there an analogue of telnet?

    Yay!

If memory serves, one can be installed from the initial installation cd (it's just not selected by default)

Also as previously stated, they are definitely NOT the same thing.
zomg wrote:* there is no iptables
In fact there is iptables, it's just not part of the core install. The core cd is designed to give you a minimal build system from which you can build your system how you see fit. Unless you're building a computer for the NSA, FBI, or some other government agency, what would tthe point be in having iptables setup while you're installing?
zomg wrote:pacman is rather ok, afer reading the man page you can do everything you want (but I'd still prefer some "examples" section at the end of it).
PACMAN FTW!!! Seriously though, I thought there was an examples section somewhere, and if there isn't one there certainly should be... we'll have to look into that.
zomg wrote:Maybe some of these "weaknesses" are just perceived not real ones? For example, is there an analogue of telnet?
Almost any (perceived) weakness can be corrected simply by doing exactly what you did and bringing it to the community's attention. In most cases we can point you in the right direction. If it's a legitimate weakness/bug/missing feature/whatever, a TU or Dev will look into fixing it (or you are welcome to submit a fix/patch/update on your own).
I hope that mine and the previous responses have helped you and that you will enjoy your stay with us. If you have further issues, please feel free to address them to the community!

  • Could someone explain why default install has policy violations?

Installed 11gR2 today. Totally default install - see my steps in the Installation forum - and immediately, EM is reporting 7 policy violations.
Execute Privileges on DBMS_LOB to PUBLIC
Profiles with Excessive Allowed Failed Login Attempts
    Restricted Privilege to Execute UTL_TCP
Execute Privileges on UTL_FILE To PUBLIC
Execute Privileges on DBMS_JOB to PUBLIC
    Restricted Privilege to Execute UTL_SMTP
    Restricted Privilege to Execute UTL_HTTP
I wonder why these are not automatically closed on a new install.
Backward compatibility doesn't really cut it in my mind - any DBA worth their salt would be closing those holes or explicitly enabling the privs with eyes wide open. I'd think, since they are listed as critical, these would simply be documented and closed by default - possibly with a script to reopen, just like the 'CONNECT/RESOURCE/DBA' roles were handled (at long last).
    Just wondrin'

No but they have changed the default profile so that not everything is unlimited.
Perhaps what we need is one more screen in the dbca during installation that gives the user the following choices:
    1) 12g Security: No CONNECT, RESOURCE, or DBA default roles, password_verify function installed, default auditing of sys, execute on risky packages, procedures, and functions not granted, etc. [DEFAULT]
    2) Legacy Security: Hope you're really comfortable with nothing but passwords
Why make those who are trying to be responsible do all the heavy lifting. Force those that are willing to put their organization's at risk make an explicit decision to do so.

im new to dreamweaver and diving in the deep end obviously. I guess the idea of doing this on my localhost is all about practicing locally before tackling a real world scenario on a production web-server in the near future.
    I have just installed
    1. WAMP server on my Win 8 localhost
    2. Opencart on this server
I would like to edit the existing "Opencart" default website that i have just installed on my WAMP, Things im interested in doing...
    1. making changes to the opencart template
    2. altering the website structure (eg pages, images etc)
Is dreamweaver able to do this? (i am assuming that i may use a variety of adobe products for the task...eg photoshop etc)
    If yes...
how do i go about getting it into dreamweaver (and synchronising dreamweaver with the localhost WAMP "Opencart site")
    If no...
what program is best suited for tackling this task?
I have signed up for the adobe cloud so i have access to quite a number of adobe products.
    kind regards
    adam

OC uses model & controller files (fragments) to connect all the various parts together on the server. Design View in DW will be little value since this is all about working with code.
