Default typeface in Acrobat 9

When I start Acrobat 9 on my laptop and bring up the text box tool, the default typeface is Helvetica 12pt in red. I know there is a way to change it because Acrobat 9 on my desktop is set to Helvetica 9pt in black, which is what I want to use on the laptop; I just can't recall how to do it.
Advice would be appreciated.

After you change it to the color and size you want, right-click the text box and select "Make Current Properties Default". To change the font and color, bring up the Properties bar by clicking Ctrl+E.

    How do you set the default magnification for Acrobat.  All documents that I open enlarge to 174% and are too big.  I see how to change the size after the document is open by going to File/properties/initial view and saving this setting.  I want all documents to open at 100% when they are first opened.  Can I set this as a default view?

    Hey Kris,
    You might go to Edit> Preferences> Zoom
    Do this without opening any particular PDF so that it applies to the program itself and not just one document.
    Try this and then let me know.

  • Can I change the default typeface in a document?

    Can I change the default typeface in an Illustrator CC document? (I wouldn't use Meridian to win a bet.)

    Open one of your new document profiles located at
    /Users/YOURNAME/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Adobe Illustrator CS6/en_US/New Document Profiles/
    Edit the normal character style and save. Now when you create a new document choose that new document profile.

  • Changing Default Font in Acrobat 7 and/or Acrobat Reader 9

    Anyone know how to change the Default Font in Acrobat 7 and/or Acrobat Reader 9?  Whenever I open a PDF document the text defaults to a Times New Roman or basic font.  Can we change the default font?

    The fonts are defined as part of the created PDF. If you mean something else, then please explain. A PDF is designed to replicate the document it was created from and thus the fonts are defined by the originating document. If you do not have the font and it is not embedded, then Acrobat tries to find a close version to substitute.

    No. The font is determine by the person that created the pdf.

  • Cannot change from default printer in Acrobat X by code

    pp.printerName = "\\\\print server\\printer"; works flawlessly in Acrobat 9 Standard but will not change from default printer in Acrobat X Standard unless run in the console. I've checked the printer names through the console and they are listed correctly. Javascript enable menu items is checked. I've even tried creating trusted functions (which still work flawlessly in Acrobat 9, but not in Acrobat X). All other printer settings in Acrobat X change as coded once the printer is changed manually.
    Any suggestions?

    function printFullPEng() {
    var pp = this.getPrintParams();
    var pSize = this.getPageBox("Crop");
    if (pSize[1] > "792") {pp.printerName = "\\\\print-server\\HP Designjet 4000 HPGL2/RTL (Copy 1)";}
    else {pp.printerName = "\\\\print-server\\TOSHIBA 4520C PCL6 - Engineering";};
    pp.NumCopies = 1;
    pp.pageHandling = pp.constants.handling.none;
    fv = pp.constants.flagValues;
    pp.flags = (fv.setPageSize);
    this.print(pp);
    This is tied to a menu button. As I say, it works flawlessly in Acrobat 9, but will not change printers in Acrobat X.

  • How do I set the hand tool to be the default tool in Acrobat X?

    I want the hand tool to be the default tool. The select tool is very annoying. This is a recent change - even last week the default tool was whatever tool I had used last. Now the select tool is always selected which is very frustrating. How do I set the hand tool to be the default tool in Acrobat X? I am running Acrobat Pro 10.1.4 on Windows 7.

    I can see that it would be frustrating that you can restart PS with most last used tools, but not the Move tool.  But I just checked and that does indeed seem to be the case.  The obvious question is why you would like to have the Move tool selected when opening PS, and is there another route to achieve your ultimate objective?

  • Default Typeface Randomly Substituted for Chosen Typeface when Scrubbing or Rendering?

    In Premiere CC 2014 (latest version) I'm dynamically linking to an AE CC 2014 (latest version) comp where I'm doing my type layout and animation.
    Once the AE comp loads in Premiere, however, at random intervals the type appears to switch from my chosen typeface to Arial or Helvetica or whatever the default typeface is in Premier when a typeface is missing. Then it switches back. It happens when scrubbing or rendering.
    I've tried rebooting, restarting the app, purging cache, and re-linking. I get the same issue when I try to render it directly out of AE too. Typeface switches back and forth.
    Anyone, have any suggestions as to how I can get the text to render with the typeface I've chosen instead of it randomly switching to the default and back?
    Thanks.
    EDIT: The problem I'm describing is more or less identical to the problem described here: AE CS3 Font Switch Glitch When Previewing/Render : Adobe After Effects

    Ok, problem could be maybe elsewhere than I thought.
    I found slim does this when I start it manually by rc.d script.
    When I disable it from daemons in rc.conf and try to start it by hand after clean boot it did exactly same behaviour.
    What's different if it start from daemons or by rc.d script? I thought it did the same thing?

  • Can I set a default folder in Acrobat?

    Most of my PDF files are in one location.  I would like to be able to set that location as the default folder in which Acrobat will look when I want to open a file.

    You can not reset the default, but you could place a short cut to the folder in the default folder.

  • PDF Portfolio Toolbar Default / List View / Acrobat 9 Pro

    Is there any way to have Portfolio Default to the list view?  Thanks, John

    The file I am working with is a .doc file. It gets changed to a prn file when I execute the Macro I currently have defined - in an attempt to save it is C:\temp\temp.pdf.  The resulting file gets named C:\temp\temp.pd, but it is in actuality a prn file - can't be opened by Adobe Acrobat.  The suggestion above of subsequently passingthe prn file off to a Distiller directory to generate a pdf probably will not work because of timing issues. Here's some more background on why and what I am trying to do:
    This activity is happening in a program running in a batch mode.  This program is using OLE to open Word documents, add watersmarks and other details, then save the changed Word doc as a pdf to c:\temp\temp.pdf.  The program then, expecting the temp file to be where it is, sends temp.pdf to a Document Management System, changing the name in the process to something more meaningful.  Additionally, in some cases, an additional Word doc is created on the fly which must also be saved as C:\temp\temp.pdf and is immediately thereafter procesed in a similar way - sent to a Document Management System.
    The above work just fine when we used Acrobat 5.0 with PDF Writer 5.0.  The fact that PDF Writer would always write its output to C:\temp\temp.pdf (as an actual PDF file) was controlled through a registry setting (PDFFileName).  WIth Acrobat 9 Pro, this registry setting no longer works as it did in 5.0.  The switch to Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro is necessitated by the need to process documents with Chinese characters.  I've seen some references to PDF Maker and perhaps this is a product that needs to be added to this process, but I can't find complete information on this product.

  • Adobe Customization Wizard X doesn't set Adobe Reader X to be default when customizing Acrobat X

    I've recently started working with Adobe Customization Wizard X.
    I've got Adobe Reader X customized and it's already installed all computers. Now, I'm working on customizing Adobe Acrobat X. During the customization, I only have the following 2 options:
    1. Installer will decide which product will be the default
    2. Make Acrobat the default PDF viewer
    Choosing the 1st option, makes Acrobat as the default PDF viewer. In other words, I don't get an option to keep Adobe Reader X as the default on the existing computer.
    Found a blog in Adobe site which suggests running Adobe Reader installation again after Acrobat is installed. Although it works, it just isn't a good solution (my opinion).
    http://blogs.adobe.com/pdfitmatters/2011/03/installing-acrobat-x-and-reader-x-on-the-same- machine.html
    Can you advise what're the registry setting that I can set during the Acrobat X customization so that it doesn't become the default PDF viewer.

    Hi Ben,
    Here's what I am trying to accomplish I had Acrobat Standard v10.1.4 scripted so I can deploy it to a Citrix Server (XENAPP6) via SCCM 2007 I have at least 50 licenses of Acrobat Standard deployed to 50 users. All of our Citrix Servers have Adobe Reader v10.* installed as our default pdf viewer. There are other apps that are deployed to this Citrix Server and I wanted to make sure that pdf files open on Adobe Reader instead of Acrobat Standard.
    I had to change the installer tables directly so I don't have to get it re-scripted to use this command line. Is it a best practice not to change the isntaller table?
    msiexec /i "\\source\Acrobat10\AcroStan.msi" transforms="\\source\Acrobat10\AcroStan.mst" LEAVE_PDFOWNERSHIP=”YES” /qb /norestart
    Thanks a lot for your help I'm looking forward to hear from you.
    Regards,
    William

  • Change default opening to Acrobat and not Reader

    How to do? I have opened several pdfs via right click, Open as Acrobat Professional. It doesn't default to that preference. When I double click on a pdf, it always opens in Reader.

    Disable Reader in the task list (it tends to run in the background and capture the PDF. Also, right click on the file and select open with - chosing Acrobat. If that does not fix the problem, you will have to go back into Explorer and fix the file associations.
