Default Font in Acrobat 7 and/or Acrobat Reader 9

Anyone know how to change the Default Font in Acrobat 7 and/or Acrobat Reader 9?  Whenever I open a PDF document the text defaults to a Times New Roman or basic font.  Can we change the default font?

No. The font is determine by the person that created the pdf.

  • Problem with a signature field available in Adobe acrobat and absent in READER

    Hello
    i just created a couple of pdf forms with adobe acrobat 9 standard and authorize the people who will fill in these forms to sign them. My properties are correctly done and i can clearly see that signing is allowed from adobe acrobat. I tried to sign it and it worked.
    I asked someone to fill in the doc and sign it with adobe reader and although he could filled it in. no option were available to sign on his end. It clearly stated in the security properties that signing is not allowed.
    i ask my colleague to follow the procedure but it didn't work. http://tv.adobe.com/watch/acrobat-x/how-to-digitally-sign-a-document-with-adobe-reader/
    Do you any suggestion for me knowing that these docs need to go public very soon.
    Thanks in advance.

  • After the 6.0 update, my font for my xfinity email and on other websites changed to a random font, how do i change it back or set the default font to one that i can read?

    after the automatic download happened, the font changed to some script font i have. i removed that font, then it defaulted to another not so good looking font, and it has done that each time i disable the font. why is it doing this, but more importantly, how do i fix it so it is a basic font like arial?

  • HT2513 ICal works great but the fonts are small and hard to read unlike Outlook. Any suggestions?

    I have a MacPro and use ICal. I loke OUtlook because I can see it better and it is frankly more pleaseng to the eye. And the fonts are large enough. Of course, other than than Outlook is a nightmare on the lack of syncing etc...
    I am resigned to using ICal but is there a way to change it's look? Or an emulation program that will use ICal but present it better on the screen?

    Many of your points are totally legitimate.
    This one, however, is not:
    …To put it another way, the design of the site seems to be geared much more towards its regular users than those the site is supposedly trying to "help"…
    The design and management of the forums for more than five years have driven literally dozens of the most valuable contributors and "regulars" away from the forums—permanently.
    The only conclusion a prudent, reasonable person can draw from this state of affairs is that Adobe consciously and deliberately want to kill these forums by attrition—without a the PR hit they would otherwise take if they suddenly just shut them down.

  • How can users who have Acrobat Reader only save scanned pdf files so that the text on them is searchable using ctrl-F?  I just use the recognize text with ocr feature in the full version of Acrobat and this seem to do the trick. Reader doesn't work!

    Our users have scanned pdf files they want to be able to search using ctrl-f.  I got them to be searchable by doing a recognize text using ocr with Acrobat Professional vesion 8.  They want to know if they can make the files searchable with Acrobat Reader only or if they need the full Acrobat Professional software to make the files searchable.
    Thanks for the help!!

    To clarify a bit they need to have Adobe Acrobat, not Adobe Reader. Reader has not been associated with the Acrobat name for 3 or more versions. The process you are asking about is a creation process - the purpose of Acrobat - and NOT a reading feature.

  • Collision Acrobat and Reader

    On my sytem there is XPP, Acrobat 5, Reader 9 and IE7. When I click a PDF file located somewhere on my computer it opens - as desired - in Reader 9. However, if I click a link in IE7 to open a PDF file online, it opens in Acrobat 5. But in most cases I get an error, because Acrobat 5 can not open PDFs created with new versions.
    For compatibility reasons I have to keep the Acrobat 5
    How can I "convince"  IE7 / XPP to open PDFs online with Reader as well
    Thanks for an hint

    That's easy uninstall Acrobat and re-install Reader.
    There are widely known issues with having Reader and Acrobat on the same Windows system. Adobe recommends you only have one, due to the issues having both cause.

  • Change default font size

    Hi there!
    I have a problem with my macbook pro MC700. I got 23' monitor, keyboard and mouse connected to it, but system fonts are too small and it's hard to read em, how can I change font size? In windows7 even default fonts are bigger and there is an option to control em making even bigger for easy read and so on, where these settings in mac os x 10.6.8?

    For things like filenames, you can adjust that in the View Options screen for the Desktop or any active folder. You can access View Options via the View menu, or by pressing Command-J
    There is no setting to adjust the size of the font used in the menubar.
    Some programs allow you to adjust default font settings - check in the Preferences for each program for that setting.

  • Mozilla Firefox Default Font is Segoe UI

    My font change to italic then bold so fix it with downloading a font of windows and putting it to the font folder. After that restarted my computer and all font problem are back to normal but in Mozilla Firefox the problem is still there. YouTube title on videos are bold and the font is Segoe UI and when I check the default font in Firefox it is set to Segoe UI. When I change it back to the normal default font Times New Roman and click OK. Nothing happens and when I check it again in the option the default font is still Segoe UI. I tried the reset default on the troubleshooting mozilla and still the default font is Segoe UI. Can't change back the default font to Times New Roman. Need help!

    Hi Sleepingmonster,
    Thank you for contacting Mozilla Support. Since you have already reset Firefox and tried to change the default font from bold and the font is Segoe UI to Times New Roman and Youtube is still showing bold and the font is Segoe UI lets troubleshoot.
    Check the settings in the browser:
    *Tools > Options > Content : Fonts & Colors > Advanced
    Check the font to see if it is working or corrupted:
    [http://browserspy.dk/fonts-flash.php?detail=1]
    Check if there are any viruses that may be affecting the font:
    *Microsoft Security Essentials [http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/security-essentials-download]
    Please let us know if this solves your issue! :-)

  • Changing Default Font in Acrobat 7 and/or Acrobat Reader 9

    Anyone know how to change the Default Font in Acrobat 7 and/or Acrobat Reader 9?  Whenever I open a PDF document the text defaults to a Times New Roman or basic font.  Can we change the default font?

    The fonts are defined as part of the created PDF. If you mean something else, then please explain. A PDF is designed to replicate the document it was created from and thus the fonts are defined by the originating document. If you do not have the font and it is not embedded, then Acrobat tries to find a close version to substitute.

  • Acrobat 8 --- remarks and markups --- default font setting

    Dear readers,
    In acrobat 8 pro, pdf from customers contain markups for remarks.
    These have the default font ArialMT.
    You should be able to change the default font using the menu:
    change / preferences / general, items "new document" and "remarks".
    Unfortunately, this doesn't help; default font is still ArialMT.
    Is this a bug or can you only set a default for NEW documants or NEW remarks ?
    thanx, JL

    yes
    thanx for your effort.
    sorry i did not mention this.
    do you know this problem from earlier versions ?

  • Set default font type and size in formcreated using Acrobat X Pro

    I have a word document that I used Acrobat X Pro to create a PDF and then a Form.  The Form has over 200 text fields.  Is there a way to globally set the font type and size to one type, for instance Arial 10 so that when someone opens the Form and fills it in, the global font type and size is preset

    Are you talking about fields that you create manually or field created with the Form Wizard? Exactly what version of Acrobat are you using? What OS?
    In any case, using a script is a quick and easy approach:
    for (var i = 0; i < numFields; i++) {
        var fName = getNthFieldName(i);
        var f = getField(fName);
        if (f.type === "text") {
            f.textFont = font.Times;
            f.textSize = 9;
            // Other properties go here
    I use this type of thing all the time to quickly alter a form. Such a script isn't added anywhere, just executed (e.g., JavaScript console). Over time a developer can build up a collection of utility scripts that can do all sorts of things to dramatically speed up development. It would be bad if this option were not available.
    If there is a bug, it should certainly be addressed, so don't think I'm arguing against that, but I'm not seeing it on any of my systems. I can successfully set the default field properties by selecting "Use Current Properties as New Defaults". The Form Wizard does not use these defaults, but that's a different matter.

  • SWF Export, no font showing in Acrobat and zoom border problem (Acrobat & Reader) - Indesign CS6

    Hi Everyone,
    If anyone could help me on this that would be great, I've spent hours on the forums and manuals to no avail.
    I'm making an interactive PDF brochure in Indesign for one of our new products and I'm having issues (actual or perceived??!!) with the SWF export and PDF creation.  I'm placing animations and video in the INDD, exporting it as an SWF (with the text option as Flash Classic Text) and then opening the SWF (not importing to a word doc or anything, just opening the SWF) with Acrobat using the advanced options to import the video resources and to enable the content when the page is opened.  I then save the file as a PDF.  In the PDF everything works as it should, the animations, the buttons, the video plays and so on.  Great.. hmm not quite.
    The trouble I am having is that all the content of the SWF when viewed in Acrobat seems to be getting rasterised/flattened - is this correct?  After the SWF is opened, Acrobat indicates no fonts in the fonts tab in the document properties so when the SWF is zoomed in Acrobat, or the saved PDF in Reader, the font gets pixelated and the document is not searchable/text can not be highlighted.  The images are not selectable either - it is as if the entire page has been flattened to one image.  Is there a way to stop this so that the SWF opened with Acrobat retains the font and individual images like a normal PDF?  Do I have to open the SWF in Flash first to set some parameters or something?  Is there something I am doing wrong when exprting the SWF from Indesign?  I think I have tried about every possible export combination.  When I open the .HMTL (exported at the same time as the SWF from Indesign) in a browser, the same happens.  All the animations work but the text appears to be rasterised/flattened/not searchable.  Sorry if I'm not using the correct terminology.
    I have tried importing the SWF back into another new INDD and exporting that as an interactive PDF but then the video does not work.  I suppose I could try exporting all the individual animations as SWFs, importing them all and trying to get them to work with the video but I can see that will take quite some time and does not seem to be a guaranteed solution from what I have read on the forums - video playback being the issue.
    Another problem is that when the SWF, or saved PDF, is zoomed in Acrobat/Reader between approx 150% and 210% a thick white border appears in the document and the content is squashed into the middle creating a slightly pixelated and narrow page.  When I zoom out from the page I get a small white line on the right hand border at around 70% zoom.  Please see images.  Does anyone have any idea why this is happening and what I can do to fix it?
    On another, sort of related topic, my timing panel went blank yesterday and was not showing any animations in documents that it had been used to order and synch animations on page load as well as new documents.  The panel was blank.  I updated to V8.0.1 and the panel sprang back into life - hope that helps anyone else finding the same problem.
    I am not very familiar with Indesign/Acrobat/Flash so I guess all the above could be what I'm doing or I could be asking  really dumb questions - apologies from a newbie.
    Best,
    Emily

    Hi All,
    I have now pretty much solved all the issues by creating the SWF in Flash rather than Indesign.  I would advise anyone looking to create an interative PDF with animation and interactivity to go with Flash from the start.  While Flash is a little more involved to create the same effects as Indesign, the extra time taken will ensure a more controllable and better looking PDF in terms of text quality, scalability and so on.  Plus you will not spend days trying to get video to work along side imported SWF etc in Indesign.  One of the best controls in Flash is being able to set the stage.scaleMode for the document so the PDF still looks crisp when zooming, no white borders etc.  So, create the .fla, export to .SWF, open the .SWF with Acrobat, modify the advanced settings to enable start on page load and save as a PDF.  If you don't know Flash, I didn't a couple of days ago, watch a couple of tutorials on Youtube.. buttons, tweens, embedding video and you'll be ready.  Don't be put off by ActionScript, there are really handy Code Snippets in CS6 that do all the heavy lifting for you.
    Sorry Indesign!
    Best,
    Em

    I don't know if your on a Mac or a PC.
    So you need to locate the Font cache file for Acrobat (make sure Acrobat is quit) and remove to Trash/Wastebasket.
    and empty. The open Acrobat back up and the font cache file should rebuild.  If your on a Mac the simpliest way is use a Utility called fontnuke and have it remove all Font caches.
    Font cahces frequently corrupt  as they are in constant use.  Mayb Windows machines have something similar as Font Nuke.
