Default value on prompt

Hello Experts !
User wants Previous period (one period before to current period) and Year to be defaulted on the fiscal year period prompt selection.
Can we do this?
Thanks
Jason

There is a standard variable for fiscal period called Previous Period of Current Fiscal Year (SAP Exit) 0P_PRFP1 . Activate this variable and use this variable in the report. Also, activate the variable current fiscal year and use it in the report.
Thats it.

  • Default value of prompt based on another request

    Hello:
I have a requirement where I need to set default values of prompts based on another request.
The prompt is a Date Prompt.
I tried it using presentation variable, and writing sql query, where is says " WHERE promo_id= @{variable}"
but it is still not working.
Please let me know the workaround for this issue.
    Thank you.

How is the End Date determined for your BETWEEN operator? I would assume that is variable. Also, is the second report on another dashboard page or on the same page? Assuming both reports are on the same page, do the below. If not, you can use the same prompts on the second dashboard page. Set the scope to "dashboard" and the selection the user makes carries to the second page.
The easiest way is to have 3 Dashboard prompts: Promo_ID, Start_Dt, and End_Date. Set these prompts to PVs: pvPromoID, pvStartDate, and pvEndDate, respectively.
Filter report one on pvPromoID and pvStartDate.
Filter the second report on pvPromoID and use pvStartDate in the filter of the Date column of report two. Assuming the BETWEEN values are variable, then you can write the following on the Date column of your second report:
    "Table Name"."Date ColumnName" <= '@{pvStartDate}' AND Table name"."Date Column Name" <='{EndDate}'
And on your Promo column, use the filter "Table Name".Promo = '@{pvPromoID}'
When the user selects the Promo ID, Start Date and End Date from the prompts, both the first and second reports will be filtered accordingly.

  • How to show value from another Object as Default value from Prompt

    Hi,
I am creating a web Report with the following filter :
Enrollment Date FROM :   01/01/2011 12:00:00 AM  (Default 1st day of previous month)
Enrollment Date TO :     01/02/2010 12:00:00 AM    (Default: 1st day of current month)
There are values for Enrollment date from 01/01/ 2004 till today but user want to have a default value as in brackets above.
When I select prompt option for 'Enrollment Date' all the dates (from 01/01/ 2004 till today) are shown as usual. Database is Oracle and I am able to create Objects in Universe that show the default required dates, but not sure how I use them in the prompt. Is there any way or workaround?
    Nanda Kishore.

If i Understand Correctly you requirement you want to set a default value for date in prompt but user should have the ability to change these values if the want ?
In order to implement this you can create a Object in Universe with definition
    Date Choice - @prompt('Default or Custom Date','A',{'Default','Custom'},mono,constrained)
Then use this along with the date prompt in query filter as follows.
          Set Data choice =Default
            Date1= Default Date
            and
            Date2= Default Date
      OR
           Set Date Choice=Custom
            Date1 = Prompt
            and
            Date2= Prompt

  • Give a default value to prompted column

    Hi Experts,
In one of my reports I added a filter on a column (col 1 possible values Y or N).
The request is embedded in a dashboard page that has a prompt for 'col1'.
I would like when the user doesn't select anything from the prompt that the value Y is applied as a filter to the report
    Is it possible?
    Regards

Yes, if in your report you set col1 = Y then it will return Y's UNTIL the user selects another value in the dashboard prompt. This is default behaviour, if on the other hand you didnt want the 'Y' to be over-ridden by the dashboard prompt, you would use 'protect filter' to prevent this behaviour.

  • Hide value in prompt ?

I am working on a report in Webi XIR2 SP4 and I would like to hide the value for a special prompt during user is filling in it like a password : is it possible to replace characters with points ("****") for exemple ?
I see that something like tihs exists in Crystal Report but I found any options about it in Business Objects / Web Intelligence / Designer.
Do you have an idea ?
    Thanks for your answer.

    @Prompt
You can use the @Prompt function to create an interactive object. You use a @Prompt function in the Where clause for an object. It forces a user to enter a value for a restriction when that object is used in a query. When the user runs the query, a prompt box appears asking for a value to be entered.
@Prompts are useful when you want to force a restriction in the inferred SQL but do not want to preset the value of the condition.
You can optionally define default values for prompts. A prompt containing default values behaves in the same way as a Web Intelligence prompt with default values.
The syntax of the function is as follows:
    @Prompt('message','type',[lov],mono/multi,free/constrained/primary_key,persistent/not_persistent, [{'default value':'default key'[,'default value':'default key',...]})
The syntax is described in the following table:
    Syntax  Description
'message'  Text of the prompt message. The text must be enclosed between single quotes, for example, 'Choose a Region', 'Pick a time period', or 'Choose a showroom'. The text appears in the prompt box when the query is run.
'type'  Data type returned by the function. It can be one of the following:
    'A' for alphanumeric
    'N' for number
    D' for date
The specified data type must be enclosed in single quotes.
lov  List of values (optional). You can specify two types of list of values:
Hard coded list. Each value is separately enclosed in single quotes and separated by a comma. The whole list is enclosed in curly brackets. For example, {'Australia', 'France', 'Japan', 'United Kingdom', 'USA'}.
Pointer to a List of Values from an existing object. You invoke the target lov by double clicking on the object containing the lov that you want to use in the Classes and Objects panel. This gives the Class name and the Object name, separated by a backslash. It must be enclosed in single quotes. For example: 'Client\Country'.
mono  User can select only one value from the list of values.
multi  User can select multiple values from the list of values.
free  User can enter a value, or select one from the list of values.
constrained  User must select a value from the list of values.
primary key  Use the primary key parameter with "free" or "constrained". The user enters a value or selects from the list of values. If the primary key parameter is present, the entered or displayed value is not used to generate the query. The associated key value from the Index Awareness column is used.
persistent  When refreshing a document, the last values used in the prompt is displayed by default.
not persistent  When refreshing a document, no values used is displayed in the prompt by default.
'default value':'key value'  The default values parameter is used to define default values presented to the user.
You can define multiple default values.
The syntax for each default value is: u2018valueu2019:u2019keyu2019.
The colon ( is the separator between the value and the key.
When refreshing a document these values are displayed by default but if the persistent option is set, then the last values used in the prompt are used instead of the default values.
If you specify the primary key parameter in the prompt definition, then you must provide the key value(s).
Note: For each of the optional parameters, if you omit an argument, you must still enter the commas as separators.
Example: Using @Prompt to restrict countries
The object Country returns values for the countries of resorts. If you want to restrict the returned values to resorts for only one country, you would need a separate object for each resort country in the universe. However, using the @Prompt, you need only one object as follows:
The user is prompted to enter the name of the country, and the returned values are the resorts from that particular country, as shown below:
When a query is run in Web Intelligence, the following prompt box appears:
Example: @Prompt syntax with default values
@prompt('Enter value(s) for Customer with IA:',
    'A','Customer\Customer with I A',
    Multi,primary_key,{u2018Bakeru2019:u20191u2019,u2018Brendtu2019:u20192u2019})

  • WEBI Date values in prompt list

    Hey, guys!

  • OBIEE 11g Prompt's default value doesn't work with a presentation variable

Hi, I'm using OBIEE 11g and I have two dashboard prompts (Product Name and Product Number). Theses prompts are hierarquical, so the values that are displayed in the Product Number prompt have dependency with the values chosen on the Product Name prompt. This I was able to do, but now I want to put a default value on the Product Number prompt. The steps are:
1 - The user chooses the value for the Product Name Prompt and by doing that the Product Number prompt is automatically filled with the correspondent value.
But unfortunatelly this is not working, after choosing the value for the Product Name the default value for Product Number is not displayed (when you open the prompt the values displayed are correct and already filtered considering the Product Name but the prompt is not automatically filled with the default value).
    What I did is:
On the Product Name Prompt I've created a Presentation Variable called PROD.
On the Product Number Prompt I've selected:
1 - For the "Choice List Values" field I've checked the option "Limit Values by All Prompts"
2 - For the "Default Selection" field I've chosen the SQL Results option and enter the following SQL:
    SELECT "Products"."Product Number" FROM "Sample Sales Lite"."Products" WHERE "Products"."Product"='@{variables.PROD}
    What am I doing wrong?
    Thank you,
    Carla

Sorry I was wrong in my previous thread.
Actually your approach is not correct, Product Number choose constraint that will show as per the selection of Product Name.
Coming to default value for Product Number you are going for sql override that is okay but not work with variable, instead of setting default values for product number set that to product name.
if not you need to go for 2 different prompts
Prompt 1 Product Name hit GO
Prompt 2 will work based on as you defined earlier with variables
    Hope this helps

  • How to include a default value in Dynamic cascading prompt from 2nd Level.

    Hi,
I use Command Object in 'Datbase Expert' to create 'Custom Tables'  and use these tables to fetch LoVs. I use Dynamic Cascading Prompts in the reports.  I have a peculiar requirement using DCP.
There are Four Levels as in the Example:
      Continent
       Country
       State
       City
In the Custom Table, requirement is to create an additinal row with '' that represents 'All Values selected' for that level starting from second.  and The default selection should be '' . I defined that '*' means 'All Vales Selected in the report' This si not a problem. But the problem how to show a default value in a Dynamic Cascading Prompt i.e. how we can make sure in an default value can be selected in DCP from Second Level?
how can the examples 1,2,3 can be achieved detaisled below beacsuse we need to show a default value in Casacading Propmt
    Eg of Schedules with DCP:
    Schedule 1
      Continent: Europe
       Country: *
       State: *
        City:  *
      Schedule2:
       Continent: Europe
       Country: England
        State: *
         City: *
    Schedule 3:
        Continent: Europe
       Country: England
        State: Greater London
         City: *
    Schedule 4:
    Continent: Europe
       Country: England
        State: Greater London
         City: City of london

You won't be able to have a true "default" value in the various cascading levels, since there aren't default values in a dynamic cascading parameter.  That being said, I've created a sample report in Crystal Reports 2008 that has a Command-driven DCP with '*' values for the 2nd and 3rd levels of my 3-tier DCP and have accounted for them in the record selection criteria.  You can find the sample here at https://www.box.net/shared/mav5qp337j

  • How to assign a default value when there is no prompted value

    Dear all,
I create a filter and it's value is relate to a prompt. If the prompt is not fill I found that all record is selected.
How did I assign a default value so that when I didn't fill some value in to the prompt and still can get the result by
    the default value I set?
    Thanks a lot!

Are you using dates for between or some character column?
    Post your example.
Instead of between use to is equal prompts, so u will have then 2 fields one for date from a nd one for date to. Everything is the same as I wrote just repeat steps...
You must put 2 separate fields if you are using date between and you want to have default variable for both.
Column formula for the first calendar date prompt:
case when 1=2 then TIMES.TIME_ID else cast ('1.1.1900' as date) end
    and for the second:
case when 1=2 then TIMES.TIME_ID else cast ('1.1.2900' as date) end
Now you set up default repository variable for both prompts.
Presentation variable you put in the set presentation variable on each prompt:
    p_date_from
    p_date_to
And in Answers filter will be like this:
    *TIMES.TIME_ID between @{p_date_from}{VALUEOF("rv_test_date_to_char")} and @{p_date_to}{VALUEOF("rv_test_date_to_char")}*
or you can put a different default variables
    *TIMES.TIME_ID between @{p_date_from}{VALUEOF("rv_test_date_to_char_from")} and @{p_date_to}{VALUEOF("rv_test_date_to_char_to")}*
I posted similar in my blog:
Date between in filter and title when using presentation variable from calendar dashboard prompt or drop-down list in OBIEE

When I prompt the user in a SQL statement then I can declare a default value like in:
    SELECT *

But when I define a variable this does not work:
    define tablename=nvl('&tablename','test123')
How can I setup a default value here?

Is there a way to define a default value DIRECTLY in SQLplus DEFINE command (and not later when the value is used in SQL statement)?no, there is not for DEFINE but you can use ACCEPT:

  • Set default values in date prompt

    Hello,
I have tried everything I can find in the forum to resolve a very daunting task. Thanks in advance for all your help.
We have Crystal Server 2008 with Tomcat and IIS.
I have several reports that use start date and end date  as parameters. When the user launches the report date prompt dialog box appears where you user can input the values. Typically (75% ) the user is always looking for yesterday's data however at times he/she would want to pick different date range to review the results. The requirement is to set the default values in the dialogbox to be currentdate-1. Any help is greatly appreciated.
    Paul.

What we do for all of our reports is have the date parameters be text fields that allow something like PD for prior day, PM for prior month, CM for current month, YTD for year to date, etc.  We then have crystal functions (and database functions; one for start dates and one for end dates) that translates the characters to real dates.  If the text entered does not match one of the "mnemonics", it is assumed to be a date, and it is treated as such.  This allows using the same report for scheduled daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, etc. and ad-hoc runs without any other special coding.  In your case, you'd set the default parameter values to PD.
Our mnemonics are of the form [PY]{P|C}{D|W|M|Q|Y}[DOW][{+|-}n], where [PY] is optional to specify a prior year date (for comparison reports), P=Prior, C=Current, D=Day, W=Week, M=Month, Q-Quarter, Y=Year, [DOW] is optional, and used with [PY] to specify that you are looking for the same day of week in the prior year (if CD=8/24/09, PYCDDOW=8/25/08), and the +n or -n allows you to add or subtract days/weeks/months/quarters/years (depending on the interval used) to the date.

  • How to create a prompt with default value as current_date?

    Hello
I'd like to create a prompt on the dashboard that has current_date as the default value. Is it possible to achieve so?
    Please provide any pointers..
    Thank you

Unfortunately, no. Presentation variables are declared in a dashboard prompt (see page 44 of this link http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B40078_02/doc/bi.1013/b31767.pdf)
Any other type of workaround would not be worth the trouble of asking the developers to create the variable for you. One note, the current date may very well already be defined and just not known to you. Can you ask your developer if he/she has a variable that contains the current date or how long it would take to create one for you?
As a whole, it would be nice to have a set of "date" repository variables if you run Requests based on common date ranges (e.g., first day of current month, last day of current month, first day of quarter, last day of quarter, most recent end-of-year date, etc.) These can be very useful in automating reports so they don't require prompts. Of course, it depends on your organization and what you use OBIEE for...
We have built many such variables and it has been very valuable to the users and report builders. Just a thought...

  • Default value in dashboard prompt

    Hi,
I have created 2 dashboard prompt one is projectnumber another one is date which is in 'MON-YYYY' format.
My requirement is date prompt default value one month before a current month.
Example if it is February 2012 it must displayed as JAN-2012
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi RR,
    Edit the Prompt.
Under Default Selection select SQL Result and place the following query:
    SELECT concat(upper(CAST (MONTHname( TIMESTAMPADD(SQL_TSI_MONTH,-1, CURRENT_DATE)) AS CHAR(3))),concat('-',cast( YEAR( TIMESTAMPADD(SQL_TSI_MONTH,-1, CURRENT_DATE)) as char)))
    FROM "OBIA"
Try this.. I think it will solve your issue.

  • Using a Sql Result in Default Value of Dashboard Prompt

    Hi,
I Create a Dashboard Prompt, this have two dates, the initial and the last for a period to filter. I need to set the default value in the fist and last date of the previous month, for example, if today is 20th of november the default value of initial date has been 1th of October and the last date has been 31th of october.
I used in default the option 'SQL Results' and use the next sentences:
    SELECT TRUNC(add_months(sysdate, -1), 'MM') FROM dual;
    SELECT TRUNC(last_day(add_months(sysdate, -1))) from dual;
But when I try to use the dashboard prompt the result is:
    State: HY000. Code: 10058. [NQODBC] [SQL_STATE: HY000] [nQSError: 10058] A general error has occurred. [nQSError: 27002] Near <(>: Syntax error [nQSError: 26012] . (HY000)
SQL Issued: SELECT TRUNC(add_months(sysdate,-1),'MM') FROM dual
When I try to use only select sysdate from dual; the result is:
State: HY000. Code: 10058. [NQODBC] [SQL_STATE: HY000] [nQSError: 10058] A general error has occurred. [nQSError: 27004] Unresolved table: "dual". (HY000)
    Thanks for your help.

Thanks for your help. Finally I solve this issue of
    this form:
    1. I Create a Initialization Block with the next
    sentences:
    SELECT TRUNC(add_months(sysdate, -1), 'MM')
    INITIAL_DATE ,TRUNC(last_day(add_months(sysdate,
    -1))) END_DATE, To_char(TRUNC(add_months(sysdate,
    -1), 'MM'), 'YYYYMM') PERIOD FROM dual;
    2. Then I Create three Repository Variables and
assign the Initialization Block to this
    3. In the Dashboard Prompt I use the "Server
Variable" Option in the default and call the three
    variables.
    Thanks again
