Default Value using SQL

Hi,
How can I default a value in a descriptive flexfield by source of transaction? I am trying to update an invoice flexfield by source but it won't let me perform an update query as follows:
update ra_customer_trx_all cac set attribute15 = 'Ready' where bac.batch_source_id = 1052
Any ideas?

This forum is not appropriate for DFF related query. Post this query in "Oracle Application" related forum.

  • Default form value using sql with bind variable

    I wish to create a form based upon a table with a foreign key. I wish to add a field to the form that is an uneditable text field with a default value using sql of 'select name from other_table where other_table_id = ?' where ? is a bind variable defined by a hidden field which is the value of the foreign key identified at runtime. How can this be done?
    null

    I don't think that will work. I have multiple people accessing the Portal at the same time with the same login (or lack of as public will be the most common user). I could set it easily enough as the value is passed to the form by a link object, so I could add it to the before page plsql block and set the value. But I am uncertain how it will behave in a multi-user mutlitasking environment.
    Maybe I should describe what I am looking to accomplish. I want to create a display above a form that will list static details from other tables (i.e. when editing a user's phone number, which is in one table, you want the user to see the person's name, which is in another table, and the form is based upon the phone table) ...
    Just as I am thinking about it, I thought of an idea. I could put some specific code in the before displaying page plsql section to query the database and use htp to output the information for data not in the table the form is based upon. I will try this and see how it works. It would have been nice to have just created a field that is not editable and had a default value, but this should work as well.
    Let me know if you see any problem with this or if you have any better suggestions.
    Thanks for the fast response.

  • Deafaul Value using SQL query

    Hi
    I'm trying to make a default value using Computations;
    when I create computation,
    I select
    Computation item: PXX_TEST
    computation type: SQL query
    computation Point: I tried all
    Computation: select X FROM Y WHERE X= '1'
    This is the way to get Default Value ??
    I need to display the value when the page is open
    Thanks
    MM

    MM,
    You can use the default value attribute of the item to set a value if the item's source produces a null. A computation (before/after header) can work too, but it's possible that the item source and Source Used attribute (Always/Only) are interfering with your computation so you might want to try setting Source Used to 'Only...' if you have a computation setting the item.

  • Set initial value using SQL

    Hi,
    How do I set the 'initial value' property of a default value using an SQL statement?
    Any help appreciated,
    Rob

    Hi Kevin,
    you are right. It is sometimes confusing for the users, but it is - as you said - like setting the initial value, of course you can do some more complexity there.
    One big problem is. If you want to set the initial values in a detail record of a master-detail relatioship depending on the master-record, you CAN'T use it. If you change the master record to a record which doesn't have a detail, the WHEN-CREATE-RECORD trigger fires before the master-record really changes. That means, the detail will be initialized with data from the old master-record (the one you were in, before changing the master record). Stupid thing.
    I never tried the WHEN-DATABASE-RECORD trigger, I even don't know how it works. I think I have to check what it is doing.

  • Page item default value using PL/SQL

    Hello,
    I'm trying to set a default value for a text field page item in a form.
    I'm using this PL/SQL Function Body in the Default section:
    begin
    select ("DEPT_CODE"|| ' ' || DEPT_NAME) from MyView where UserID = :G_USER_ID;
    end;
    I get the following error:
    PLS-00428: an INTO clause is expected in this SELECT statement
    Any help is appreciated!
    thanks,

    Matt
    I'm using this PL/SQL Function Body in the Default section:
    begin
    select ("DEPT_CODE"|| ' ' || DEPT_NAME) from MyView where UserID = :G_USER_ID;
    end;Well, that's not a PL/SQL function body. This is:
    declare
      x varchar2(4000);
    begin
      select ("DEPT_CODE"|| ' ' || DEPT_NAME) into x from MyView where UserID = :G_USER_ID;

  • Setting default value using pl/sql

    I am having trouble writing the correct syntax for either a pl/sql expression or function on the default value section for a checkbox item. I share the same form for showing data in edit mode and creating new records. When the instance is a new record, I want an item called P12_ACTIVE to be set to Y (yes).
    I have tried several variations like:
    begin
    select distinct 'Y'
    into :P12_ACTIVE
    from VMS_PROSPECTING_ITEMS
    where order_id != :P12_ORDER_ID;
    end;
    -OR-
    declare defaultvalue varchar2(10);
    begin
    if not exists (select *
    from VMS_PROSPECTING_ITEMS
    where order_id = :P12_ORDER_ID) then
    defaultvalue := 'Y' ;
    end if;
    return defaultvalue ;
    end;
    -OR-
    as a pl/sql expression....
    select distinct 'Y'
    from VMS_PROSPECTING_ITEMS
    where order_id != :P12_ORDER_ID;
    end;
    Dawn

    This is my LOV definition for the item:
    STATIC: ;Y
    If I put Y as the default value, then the check box is always marked, even when the record is one that was edited; therefore potentially changing the active status incorrectly. I would like one of my examples to work right. My second example throws this error:
    Error ERR-9131 Error in PLSQL function body for item default code, item=P12_ACTIVE
    ORA-06550: line 3, column 8: PLS-00204: function or pseudo-column 'EXISTS' may be used inside a SQL statement only ORA-06550: line 3, column 1: PL/SQL: Statement ignored.

  • Setting a Default Value in SQL Query Report

    Hello:
    We are using a SQL Query Report to provide a mass update to a table. We are using the apex.collection and having it display a number of records in a SQL Query Report for mass update. We have 14 columns in the report, for which the first 11 are populated via the collection. The remaining 3 are open for input but the individual making the updates. We've were able to provide a default value for 2 of the remaining 3 columns using a named LOV's - however the fourth column we would like to default a sysdate - but we are not successful.
    We've attempted many things but none seem to work, including adding that column to the collection and assigning it a default sysdate value. We've also tried changing the settings in the report attributes --> Tabular Form Elements by setting the Display as to: Datepicker, Default type to PL/SQL Expression and setting the default to sysdate. We've also tried caputuring a date on the previous page and loading it onto the report page and trying to default the date column to a page item default.
    I'd appreciate any help.
    Thanks
    FYI - we are using version 3.2

    use as default
    to_char(sysdate, 'dd/mm/yyy') where the format is your application or item date format

  • How-To populate SELECT LIST default value from SQL Query

    OK, I've done my homework, and did not find my answer in the Forum, so here it is.
    I have a Page that displays fields from a SQL Query. The Page also has below that radiogroups, checkboxes, and Select Lists to allow the user to change values in the fields that are displayed at the top of the Region. I am able to pre-populate the radiogroups and checkboxes by performing a SELECT in the 'Source value or expression' of the Source area of the Page Item.
    However, I am unable to do the same for the Select List fields. Their default value ends up being the first value in the LOV ('-- None --' for NULL values). Source Used: Only when current value in session state is null. Source Type: SQL Query. Also, when I first go into the Page when running it, and check the Session State values, they are all null, so I don't understand why the field is not populated by the SQL Query statement as the radiogroups and checkboxes are.
    Any suggestions??? I've tried all sorts of combinations.

    Thank you for the suggestion.
    I had considered that, but cannot do so, because we are using Oracle Application Express more for development than for data containment.
    We have all our data in an Oracle 10.g DB which is separate from the OAEX server, and the OAEX app will reference that data via VIEWs and DB LINKs. We are doing so primarily as an added data security layer, where the data is housed separate from the app, in case the Web site is ever compromised. The data that can be viewed is restricted to a subset of the actual data that is available.
    Since the data is on a separate server, (I assume) we will not be able to set the source type to Database column, because (I asume) that is dependent upon the data being housed by the OAEX server.
    That still leaves me with having to populate the field with a SELECT statement from the Oracle DB. This unfortuneately is almost a show-stopper for me because of down-stream processing data requirements. Have not been able to come up with contingencies yet.

  • Setting Default value with SQL Query as Data Model

    Hi All,
    I am developing report based on SQL query.date set as 'SQL Query'. I have created two params start-date and end-date. I am fetching records from database between these two dates.
    I want to populate sysdate as a default values. I do not want to use datatemplate approach i mean using beforeReport trigger.
    Thansk,
    Vara

    Hi Vara,
    To set the default value for one of your parameters to SYSDATE you need to enter:
    {$SYSDATE()$}
    in the Default Value text box
    Is this what you require?

  • Populate SELECT-OPTIONS default value using CALL FUNCTION

    Hi Experts,
    I would like to populate SELECT-OPTIONS s_currm default with value in w_currm, however, it doesn't seem to work.  Can you please advise what the correct syntax is.
    Note that CALL FUNCTION 'GET_CURRENT_YEAR' is working correctly and populating w_currm (as I can use it in a SQL SELECT statement), however, it does not seem to work for SELECT-OPTIONS s_currm.
    Thank you for your time.
    Code snippet is as a follows:
    REPORT  Z_DOWNLOAD_BSIS_TEST.
    *Data Declaration
    DATA: w_currm TYPE BSIS-MONAT.
    *Define current fiscal month
    CALL FUNCTION 'GET_CURRENT_YEAR'
      EXPORTING
        BUKRS         = 'X999'     " Company Code
        DATE          = SY-DATUM   " Date to find fiscal year for
      IMPORTING
        CURRM         = w_currm.   " Current Fiscal Month
    SELECT-OPTIONS s_currm FOR w_currm
                   DEFAULT w_currm. " The default value is NOT being populated (appears blank)

    Hi Venkat.O,
    Thank you for your clear response.  I have implemented your suggestion and it works, however, I now have a new problem.
    Each time the report is executed or the "multiple selection" button is clicked the selection fields are populated once again with the default (low) values.
    For example, when report is first opened the s_curry field displays '2010'.  Clicking "multiple selection" results in another '2010' being populated.  After executing the report the selection screen is populated again with '2010' (so we now have '2010' listed 3 times in the s_curry field).
    How do I prevent the default values from repeating?

    yes Srini
    as we dont have any option via personalization to set the default values ,it can be done through controller extension ,
    in processRequest method of extended controllere get the control for that particular field where u want to set the default value and set the value using fieldbean.setValue(pagecontext,value);
    in case of any particular case ,please post in the forum

  • Can you set a default value using Data Mover Scripts?

    Hi,
    We're going through a upgrade of PS Fin 8.9 -> 9.1. We've found some existing tables with new columns that are marked as NOT NULL so we're having trouble migrating the data using DMS.
    Is there a way to Export the data from 8.9 and when importing into 9.1, set a default value for the new column using DMS?
    A specific example would be the PS_SOURCE_TBL where EXCHANGE_RATE_OPTN is new and NOT NULL.
    Thanks for any assistance.

    What you could do is first rename the record to be imported
    IMPORT SOURCE_TBL AS PS_SOURCE_TBL_ORG;
    Then write a insert/select script from PS_SOURCE_TBL_ORG to PS_SOURCE_TBL defaulting column EXCHANGE_RATE_OPTN
    Insert into PS_SOURCE_TBL (COLUMN,COLUMN,COLUMN,COLUMN, EXCHANGE_RATE_OPTN)
    select PS_SOURCE_TBL_ORG (COLUMN,COLUMN,COLUMN,COLUMN, 'defaultvalue');
    And then drop table PS_SOURCE_TBL_ORG to clean up your database.

  • Fill default value with SQL query or by an other way

    Hello everyone,
    I use Jdeveloper 11g and Weblogic.
    when I click on create button, I would like fill id_employee field automatically with the current user. I think there is a possibility in default value but I don't know how.
    My query is: SELECT Employee.ID_EMPLOYEE FROM Employee WHERE Employee.EMPLOYEE_NAME = :userName
    userName is a bind variable with this value: #{facesContext.externalContext.userPrincipal.name}
    If there is an other way I accept. Maybe with createwithparams, I tried but I didn't success.

    Hi,
    if using ADF BC, you the create with params operation of the Viewobject to create a new row. On the created action binding, use the right mouse button to create a "NamedData" entry. Set the name of this entry to the name of the attribute you want to add teh default value to. In the NDValue field use EL to reference the authenticated user

  • Setting a default value for SQL based LOV

    Hi There,
    Is there a way to set the default value in an LOV. Like lets say the LOV gets distinct to_Char(date_field,'YYYY') from a table. I want that the highest year is the default value. Currently, since I have the null option also, when the page loads, the lov is always null. I need to change it manually.
    Thanks,
    Sun

    You can easily set the dynamic item defaults
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E23903_01/doc/doc.41/e21674/bldapp_item.htm#HTMDB28287
    for example select the default type as PL/SQL Function Body and enter the following code
    declare
    v_return date;
    begin
    select max(date_field) into v_return from your_table;
    return to_Char(v_return,'YYYY');
    exception when others then
    return null;
    end;
