Default views in search page

Hi,
I have a search page, and I have a requirement:
when user log on, he should be able to see the default result list(e.g cases). If user is an employee, he should see all his cases. If user is a manager, he should see all his cases and the cases of employee reports to him.
Here are the solutions I think about:
1. configure default view: but when configuring default view, we are only allowed to select a 'user name' staticlly, and there is no way we can know the user name before user log on the system.
2. execute query in processRequest(), so when user log on, he can see his default result list before push 'Go' button. But it doesn't seem to meet OAF standard.
Can anyone give some suggestions?
thanks
Lei

Lei,
Use approach 2. Read the user name in controller and pass it to an invoke method in AM which will do the additional where clause addition based on username and execute the query.

  • How to put a default value in Search Pages

    Hi Guru's,
I've been trying to look for a way to default the Parameters of a search page (i.e. in Opportunity search, component BT111S_OPPT i want the search parameter PROSPECT_NAME defaulted to a certain value). I've tried using both INSERT_SELECTION_PARAM and ADD_SELECTION_PARAM but they only append the existing parameters and don't change the already existing parameters.
Any suggestion would be much appreciated.
    Regards,
    Marc

    Hi Jon,
Thanks for your suggestions. I've tried using the Getter and setter methods in Attribute PROSPECT_NAME in the opportunity advanced search (component BT111S_OPPT) , but the program never passes thru them. The query that I'm working on by the way is a dynamic query.
As for the article, it is indeed helpful but in context it suggests that you manually build up the search parameters from scratch. Although I'm only working on 4 initial search parameters, I'm still open for more elegant solutions.
    Thanks,
    Marc

  • Change default view across multiple page libraries using the same content type/types?

I am the editor for a large SharePoint publishing site with approximately 130+ subsites. Based on our content, I've create two diffferent default views that will come in handy as we move to a distributed authorship model. (I'm thinking specifically about
the Quick Edit/Excel-like feature to make quick changes to page/document metadata.)
The authors/content owner/editors have NO experience with SharePoint, so while the benefit of using views is that they can be tailored to individual needs, I'd like to start them off with something that is VERY easy to change on the fly. It's either that
or, as just a power user in the CMS, go to each individual page and document library and change it manually, which could take days, if not longer. Thanks!

    Essentially, yes.
That said, I am using SharePoint 2013, and I just now realized that I posted this in the legacy SP forum. You'll have to excuse me -- this is my first time posting:)
Basically, I have two different "ideal" views based on two different site templates. These two site templates account for over 100 publishing subsites. The view has 18 different metadata that will make editing/making changes to article pages much
easier for content owners because they will be able to go into the page libary>ribbon>library>quick edit and edit the metadata as if it were an Excel spreadsheet. This comes in especially handy for things like rollup order between primary, secondary,
tertiary pages within a subsite.  Ideally, it would be nice to be able to add that view as an option within the CMS (similar to the way you can add a view style).
I hope that makes sense. Also, I'll repost the question to SharePoint 2013. Much appreciated!

  • SP2013 Set default views across multiple site collections (powershell)?

foo and change the default views within the page libraries to a set of 17 metadata.

    Hi Ryan,
As I understand, you would like to change default view for page/document libraries via powershell.
Firstly, you need to get all page/document libraries in the site, then add columns to default view.
Here are some articles for your reference:

Perhaps it’s a design feature to speed up the Organizer launch.
    I am sure it is.
    - The normal use of the Organizer is not the folder view, it's the thumbnail view with an organization based on categories and folder. That way you should forget completely where your pictures are stored. Anyway, the folder view in the Explorer is not a map of the location of the different bits of your file, it's only a logical representation. That's easy to see when you are doing a defragmentation.
    - The folder view is useful even for those using normally the thumbnail view, but that is only for rare cases when you must change the folder organization, for instance moving files to another drive. The folder view is here to prevent you from changing things from the explorer and outside of the Organizer.
    - The new folder list view, which you find 'funny' is there to help better organizing using tags. Its huge advantage is that such a view is created extremely quickly by extracting the last subfolder in the media table : it's the way the database sees the folders, based on its own content,  totally ignoring the complex folder organization of your disk with media files or any unrelated other kind of data. You should use it in many cases, the main purpose being assigning tags when you have assigned descriptive folder names. I had suggested such a solution to prevent the long standing bugs in the folder view of previous versions.
    So yes, the purpose is:
    - to speed up switching modes
    - to help folder organization fans to migrate to tags organization
    - to hopefully get rid of the old folder organization bugs

  • In Initial View, can you set defaults for Navigation tab, Page layout, and Magnification?

    Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro V9.4.0
    Win7 Pro x64
Problem: In Initial View, can you set defaults for Navigation tab, Page layout, and Magnification?
Every time Acrobat scans a document, I have to go to Initial View to set Navigation tab, Page layout, and Magnification. It does not remember the settings I last used.
    Thanks in advance.

  • [BOXI 3.0] default viewing action on listing page

on the CMC in Applications - InfoView - Properties there is a setting called
default viewing action on listing page
    the two options are
      View the object
View the latest successful instance of the object
If you select the second of these two options then double clicking on a DeskI document that has not been scheduled will not open it!
Surely the latest instance should be the file itself if it has no instances?

    Hello Andrew,
That assumes all users are generally given On-Demand viewing and refresh rights, which in many deployments they're not.
For consistency the "Latest Successful Instance" means scheduled instances only.
    Sincerely,
    Ted Ueda

  • Hierarchy Viewer - with a separate search page

I would like for my search page to be separate than the one that contains the hierarchy viewer component.
But, when a click on a row in the table produced on the search page, I would like it to trigger a search on the page with the hierarchy viewer based on the selected data.
    I am using version 11.1.2.3.0.
Can you direct me to a example or documentation that could help?
    Thanks

    Hi,
why don't you use a View Criteria, drag and drop it as a search form, then after querying the search form, navigate to the next page where you have the hierarchy viewer based on the same top-level ViewObject? This then will show the filtered data from the first screen. However, what it doesn't allow you to do this way is to filter on a second node level of the viewer

  • How can i set SINGLE PAGE. ENABLE SCROLLING as default view?

how can i set default setting for view? I would like to set DO NOT SHOW GAPS BETWEEN PAGES. SINGLE PAGE. ENABLE SCROLLLING as default view.

For viewing PDFs without embedded IV options you can set values under Preferences > Page Display, but if a file has the zoom or scroll mode defined in its properties, those will always win over the application defaults.

  • Search Page question - view criteria

    Guys,
I am in the process of creating a search page. I need to change the search criteria on the page load. is it possible? (is this good practice to change view criteria dynamically of the search page or is it s good practice to create different search pages for each view criteria?)
    Little more detail:
In entity edit page user selects the process---> based on the process i need to apply search criteria (before search page loads) --> user selects the entity and i need to show confirm message before calling stored procedure.
    Thank you guys in advance...

How do you navigate to the search page? Usually you have an initialization method that runs before the page is displayed. In the initialization method you apply the criteria values and you execute the View object query.

  • Include view checkbox in search pages

Have you noticed that in the new EHP3 release webui search pages, there is a checkbox which says "Include View" next to "Save search As". Any idea what it is for or how this can help users?

    Hi Sandeep,
While Saving Search options through saved search it there was a standard component holds the searched values.
By using including view option in which component view you implemented search, that information will also be save.
This will be a better way of searching in EHP 3.0
    Thanks & Regards,

  • How to default business purpose on address search page in Quoting

    Greetings!
When I click on Select button on Shipping and Billing information tab on Quote Details page, it takes me to address search page with all the addresses regardless of business purpose I'm looking for.  I would like it to be specific to the business purpose that I am searching address for, i.e., show me Bill To addresses or Ship To addresses only.  I am able to select a value in Purpose field on address search page and search again, but can I default a value based on the Select button for Bill to or Ship to?  How can I do that?
    TIA

  • I do not view NPD BU under Category Tab in Activity search page

    Hi there,
    I'm using Agile PLM 6.1.1.0_Release_12
I'm not able to view NPD BU under Category Tab in Activity search page.
    1) I created 2 NPD BU
    - Italy
    - International
    2) I created some Activity template with Italy and International as BU.
The issue is that when I search Activity Template by Category system does not display any results.
Moreover I'm not able to add an activity template in a project template.
Could you kindly explain me why? I hope my question is clear.
    Thank you very much.
    Best regards,
    Stefano

I tried this on my local 6.1.1 build and it appears to work.   Go ahead and submit an SR so support can investigate.

  • How do you make a Pages document default view larger?

I can't figure out how to make my Pages 5.1 default view larger than 125%. I would like to change it to 150% as a default for all documents. Is there a setting somewhere?

Although there is a setting for default page zoom in the Pages v5.1 plist file, setting this manually to any custom value, whether directly in the plist file, or via the Terminal, does not stick in subsequent Pages usage. This could be set and was retained in Pages ’09 v4.3, which you may still have installed in /Applications/iWork ’09.
Other than the last sentence as an alternative, your only current recourse is to set zoom manually from the toolbar.
