Defective mp3 - horrible cust serv

I wish i had read some of the horror stories with sony customer service BEFORE I purchased something from them!
I purchased an MP3 player as a present in the beginning of december. When opened it was non functioning and I went to the web site and opened up a case before the end of the month which was clearly within their 30 day period. I was supposed to get contacted and nothing. Since then every time I call I get a different story. It's been like the other stories on this forum. I get promised a call back and after a week or so NOBODY CALLS! When I talk to someone and pressure them to try to get my money back I get transferred to someone else. I have been even told that I have to pay for repair because of item damage! It's never been working to be able to damage it! I think Sony customer service is a joke.
WARNING to anyone before you buy, sony customer service is terrible and they make it as hard as possible to return items and they will never return your call when they tell you. Don't ever get off the phone with them. Look at other posts in this forum and you'll see they have the same problems. It's been over 2 months and I have a mp3 player that is no good and I don't want anything to do with the company.

    Have you run this report before you reset the internet settings, logoff and then back?
    Did it take effect only reboot the computer without reset the Internet Explorer?
    I have take a test on my lab machine, Windows Server 2008R2 DC, Windows 7 client with Internet Explorer 11.
    Everything works fine. I didn't need reboot or reset Internet Explorer.
    Thus I suggest you use build a test environment -> one Server and one client without any other Server or setting to check the result.
    Alternative, you could push the related registry to achieve this:

    I need to upload mp3 files to a server. This was possible in FireFox version 6, but I unfortunately upgraded to version 10.0.2. Now it just says "connecting" and "sending request" without any results.

    I'm not sure what you mean by REMOTE server. The only server settings I am aware of are the ones in Dreamweaver. Here they are:

    FTP Address = same numeric value on 5.0 & 5.5 port 21

    Password = same on both
    Root directory = is blank (I have tried it using / with no luck as well)

  • CF tag to determine duration of mp3 file on server

    I need a way (a custom tag, probably?) for CF to determine the duration of an mp3 sound file on the server.
    I found a 2000 tag by Lewis A. Sellers III (aka Min) called CFX_AudioInfo that was written for CF 3.1 and Windows NT... that was my first CF server, but today I need something newer... anyone knows Mr. Sellers? Or some other pointers for me?

    Hi I had the same problem but i manage to solve it.
    First of all you have to install the mp3 plug-in and as u mentioned that u already did that.Make sure the mp3plugin.jar file is inside the lib/ext of the jre you are using for your project and one imp thing is first register the plug-in by issuing the command
    java com.sun.media.codec.audio.mp3.JavaDecoder
    It will modify the jmf.properties binary file.Once your done with this put this updated jmf.properties file in your project folder.After this your code should run perfectally.In case of any problem.Post it.

  • Can't create iTunes acc! - Anyone else from Puerto Rico?- Cust Serv $uck$!

    I've been trying to create an account for iTunes, mostly to download the album artwork to my library. But I haven't been able because iTunes billing system will not recognize my credit card, giving me different error messages such as "information does not match with bank's records", "please give use a US issued credit card", "fields were omitted", etc. I've been trying to get some assistance from the customer service representatives but all they do is give me some canned messages and basically say that Puerto Rico is not a "state" of the USA and that we, Puerto Ricans, cannot download music from iTunes, even though I know a lot of people in Puerto Rico that can, with credit cards issued locally.
    If you are having the same problems, please post here to show them that it's not an isolated situation, even if you are not from Puerto Rico.
    This is my first post, so if I'm breaking any rules or anything similar, I would appreciate that you contact me so I get the chance to amend things.

    What's up with you people? Stop using the same canned messages and read the whole conversation, PLEASE!
    That's almost the same answer Vanessa gave to my initial e-mail. Then, Andres apologized because Apple does consider Puerto Rico part of the United States and even includes Puerto Rico as a "state" in the fields of registration for MyInfo and iTunes.
    Puerto Rico is a territory of the USA and we, Puertorricans, are considered citizens and residents of the USA, so far that the same rates apply to the USPS Post Office, that we don't need to get through customs in domestic flights, that we don't needed a passport to get in and out of the USA until the new Patriot Act provision that started now on January 1st, 2007.
    Will someone really get to this and answer all my questions in their rightful way?
    So far the service seemed to be good because you were answering in a timely manner, but I just figured out that all you are doing is using canned messages and/or doing some "copy/paste" to your "concerned and dear customers".
    PLEASE get through with this and get me a complete answer.

    Thank you very much for going further in your review and reply to my initial concern.
    I was able to create an account through the MyInfo page. I was able to log in to iTunes, but it then asks me for my billing information. I'm trying to register two credit cards I have from a local bank. I was not able to register any of these. The system keeps telling me that the bank information is not the same as the one I entered. I tried several variations and none was accepted. I'm trying this with my bank statement on hand to match the information perfectly and I even called the bank to confirm if I have all the correct information, as in their systems, which they confirmed.
    It appears that iTunes will not accept my credit cards in any way, even with my bank assisting me with the different variation that iTunes may be asking for.
    Is there any way you may help me to register my credit card to my account? Because, after all, having an account created through the MyInfo page did little since I still can't download album artwork nor purchase music.
    On the other side, I tried using my Paypal account which is Verified and with a Confirmed address, but iTunes says that it cannot verify the account.
    It appears that iTunes has some kind of problem with accounts from Puerto Rico.

    Thank you very much for your reply to this concern, but this answer does not convince me since the iTunes registering page adds Puerto Rico as a "state" of the USA in the drop-in box / field, plus I know a lot of people here in Puerto Rico that have an account registered in iTunes with a credit card issued by a local bank that are able to make purchases.
    My main interest in having an iTunes account is being able to download the CD’s artwork, which, apparently, can only be done if I have an account registered in iTunes. As an option, is there any way to create an account without having "purchasing" privileges for this matter?
    I am really disappointed with the service and options restricted by Apple for this matter, specially when they have so many authorized dealers and resellers in Puerto Rico, which is not a "Channel Island" but a USA territory or property, with USA citizenship, with USA residency, USA currency, with USA post office, with USA customs, with USA courts, etc. Another question, since it was not offered as an option, if I buy iTunes gift cards, which I can buy almost anywhere here on the island, can I use it for purchasing purposes or would I not have this privilege because I live here?

    To the previous user, thank you for anything you may do to help with this, but I understand that I clearly stated that I was not expecting help from a customer service representative but to get a number of people going to the same or a similar situation which may be later used as an example to Apple for them to work with this.
    Here's an update on what's being going on so far...
    Man, I am still NOT satisfied.
    I talked today with my bank regarding this situation and they told me that they have had several concerns with other customers about this and that they have done everything in their power before to make sure that iTunes works, accepting their credit cards, but that it's iTunes billing system the one with restrictions to accept these cards; in other words, that their cards are okay in their systems to be accepted by iTunes, but that iTunes refuse to accept them.
    I believe that either Apple is discriminating against Puerto Rican customers, Puerto Rican banks or they are just not willing to go the extra mile to solve this billing situation.
    So far it seems that you do not understand my principal need, which is downloading album artwork, not buying music.
    I just received my iPod and am hesitating to open it because of all of this.
    Again, service has been poor and attention to details worst.
    If there's nothing else you may do to help me, I would appreciate to be forwarded to a supervisor or manager or director to present them this concern.

    Greetings, and thank you for the help so far.
    Still, I am being unable to register my credit card. When I enter my VISA's security code (either of the two I have), which consists of three digits from the back of the card, the system gives me a message saying "Please enter a valid Security Code".
    I tried, just in case, to use a dummy security code, such as 123 or 000 or 999 and the system gives me a message saying "Credit card processing is temporary unavailable. Please try again later".
    It's funny and/or weird to me because I never get the message "Credit card processing is temporary unavailable..." when using my VISA's security code, nor I get the message "Please enter a valid Security Code" when using a dummy security code.
    What's up with that? Any further help you may provide me with this?

  • NAS server with mp3s and Itunes for Mac & Windows. How to keep all running?

    a)I have mp3s on the server (a NAS Hard Drive) when I run I-tunes even after selecting a a folder in the network hard drive tries to move the music on my local macbook under the i-tunes music folder location, this happens usually when I get I-tunes updates and re-installation. Is any way to stop I-Tunes to move files? I have no space in my Mac for all the mp3s.
    b) what is the best way to share the music files between two computers with I-Tunes, one being a Mac and the other a Windows? This, without screwing the files.
    c) I-Tunes generated a lot of duplicates. My guess is the same song may apply to different albums. Any way to correct this problem, so no more duplicates?

    If you want cross-paltform comaptibility limit the fonts to OpenType or Windows TrueType formats, both of which work on both Mac and PC. To avoid missing font warnings the fonts must either be installed on each computer, or they must be in a folder named Document Fonts in the same location as the .indd file they are to work with. Packaging the file will build taht folder for you.
    the rest of the stuff in your list won't help you. .idml would allow you to open on an older version, but does nothing for your situation. Embedding the links will keep you from having missing links, but so will packaging, and embedded links will make the file much larger and harder to work with.
    For goodness sake, don't even think about outlining the text. It stops being text when you do that and you can no longer edit it.
    And finally. do yourself a big favor and don't attempt to actually work on your file directly from the flash drive. Copy the whole package folder to the hard drive, work on it, then copy back. You don't want to know how many files are fatally damaged by write errors on flash drives.

  • How to download a file from a server

    I have a question with a general design implementation. Hope anyone more skilled than me helps me.
    I want to do an application based on an android client and a java server. Local wifi transmission, no 3G.
    Basically, the client must connect to the server and request a file to download using a code.
    How can I do that?
    Things I know:
    * I must create a background thread in the client to create a file in the SD card and update a progress bar using a Handler to communicate with the UI thread.
    * The server must be multithread and non-blocking.
    * The file is a binary file like a mp3 audio. So the server has to:
    1. Send information about the file: name and total length.
    2. Open the file, read and send bytes while it does not reach the end.
    * The client has to:
    1. Receive the information about the file and create an empty file.
    2. Read bytes and dump them into the empty file. Update progress bar.
    3. When all bytes are recieved close the file.
    I have knowledge implementing a client and server in C (very awful) but I am beginning with a real client-server application done in java.
    Questions:
    * How can I download a binary file like an mp3 from a server to a client?
    * Where I have to put my server application? I supose that I must create a jar, save it on a folder and execute it at PC start-up, right?

  • Clients cannot update from WSUS server - error 8024400E

    Alright, so I'm troubleshooting our WSUS server and seem to be stuck. I am running WSUS 3.2.7600.226 on Server 2003.  The client I have been using for testing is Windows 7 x64, but we have this issue on all clients (XP, 7 x86, and 7 x64).  I started
    with an error of 800B0001 and after googling installed KB2720211 to fix it. Now I am getting error 8024400E on clients when I attempt to update. I followed a technet walkthrough and verified that my WSUS settings are all correct (at least regarding iis,
    registry, gpo settings, and file system permissions). I am able to download CAB files from the WSUS server by going to the proper address in a browser. Here is a snippet from my WindowsUpdate log on my client:

    While you're definitely on the right track, the Office2003SP1 update really has not been an issue since WSUS Service Pack 2 was released in October 2009 (and really, the Office2003SP1 update that was the cause of this was replaced long before that even,
    so you probably don't even have the defective update on your server).
    However, the error is generally associated with the presence of defective update(s) on the WSUS server, so the first thing to do is address any potential issues caused by a failed install of KB2720211.
    If the error still persists after verifying that all other aspects of the server are fully operational, review the list of not-Declined updates on your WSUS server and make sure that:
    All Expired updates are Declined (and then run the Server Cleanup Wizard and let it delete the expired updates).
    All approvals for older revisions have been removed (and then run the Server Cleanup Wizard and let it delete the older revisions).
    All approvals for superseded updates have been removed. (And then, when they report as 100% Not Applicable, decline them, and then run the Server Cleanup Wizard so that it can delete the files associated with those updates).
    Once all of the potentially problematic updates have been removed from the view of the Windows Update Agent, and if this error then persists, we can evaluate it from a more focused perspective.

    Windows 7 uses .wav (wave) files for the sound events. The default folder that Windows 7 uses to store the sound files in is located at C:\Windows\Media.
    You cannot use a MP3 file but there are lots of (WAV to MP3 converters) available on internet which can help you to convert MP3 to wav  serving your purpose of changing system sound.

  • Save streamed MP3 file?

    Our app includes a music player which streams MP3s from a server. We would like to be able to stream the MP3, and save it to a cache on disk once it has fully downloaded.
    I am using the load() method of the Sound class to stream the MP3 so that playback can begin before the file is fully downloaded. I can listen for the Event.COMPLETE event to indicate that the MP3 has finished downloading, but the Sound class offers no way to access the original file and save it to disk (the extract() method returns uncompressed sound data which is much too large to write to the disk).
    Is there any method to download an MP3 file that will allow us to stream the MP3 file as it is downloading, and save it to disk when the download is complete, without downloading it twice?

    Unless you can find an MP3 encoding library that could take the extract() data and convert it back with minimal effort, I think your only option is to save the mp3 using the File and FileStream classes. One thing you could try is to use a File object to download the file, and while it is downloading, you have the sound object play the data contents of the File object downloading the mp3. I just tried a quick test locally and it worked on my desktop. You will have to try it from an actual server to know how well it can work in that environment, but it is at least worth a shot.

    What this code is doing is creating a File object with, in this case, a path to an MP3 in the same folder as the test FLA I created. This would be a path to your server stored MP3. Then you setup the event listeners for progress and complete. I used progress to know that the file had actually started to be downloaded to then trigger the initialization of my Sound object. Depending on someones network connection and the size of the MP3, it could be a good idea to use progress to know that the file has gotten X percentage done before trying to play the file.
    For testing purposes in my progress event, I just checked to see if the Sound object had been initialized yet, and if it hadn't then set sound equal to a new Sound object with the File.url property for the URLRequest() and then told it to play.
    Once the File object dispatched the complete event to indicate that the download finished, I created a new File object for the purpose of saving it to the filesystem using the FileStream class. Using FileStream to save the file allows for no user interaction to save the MP3.
    There may be better ways to handle my method, but I can't think of any at the moment. As far as I know, the second File object, which I named "saveFile", is required in order to actually save the downloaded MP3 object because Im not too familiar with File manipulation. The only downside I can think of is that you have a copy of the MP3 is memory and would need to null out the File object that loaded the MP3 to free up memory.

    My guess is that there is no real issue to have a bunch of ODSI (oidldapd + oidmon) on many machines running against the same DB instance

    Hi,
    I understand that the following error message was thrown out when creating a maintenance plan that will run on remote servers.
    This Maintenance Plan cannot be distributed because it has tasks using connections to other SQL Server instances.
    Go to target server and select to defect from the master server. Then try to re-add the target server on the master instance.
    Browser to create the connection and check if the instance name for target server is visible. If no, make sure that the master server always has to be the same or lower version than the target.

  • Complaint - trying this as cust service phone line...

    I have 3 complaints - none of which I've been able to resolve despite numerous calls to all the various BT call centres:
    1. I've been billed £129.99 for an engineer fee which I never agreed to (which is a breach of contract, illegal etc.).  Joined BT in Nov but broadband and phone didn't work, eventually BT agreed to send an engineer out.  They said this MAY cost £129.99 if the fault is with our house, I said that if the charge is needed - don't do the work and instead cancel my BT contract as I do not want to pay £130 to join BT.  Engineer came out and said fault was not with us but with the BT connection bit, so I said go ahead and do the work.  Broadband and phone totally sorted, but 3 months later - a random charge of £129.9 which I have not agreed to.
    2. So this made me eventually decide to get the compensation for the Nov-Jan period I had a poor service.  But apparently I can only have one weeks compensation as they're only recognising the time from when the engineer was despatched as the time of 'logging the issue'!  Surely if an engineer had to sort out the connection it shows it was never set up properly, but that seems to sensible for Bt cust serv.
    3. The awful, awful cust service experience.  I explained that the 2 points above demonstrate the confused BT response - i.e. if it was an internal fault with my house resulting in a £129 charge, then surely the monthly payments for Nov - Jan should be refunded as the service can't possibly have been working?! But no one can sort this for me.  Cust service = just keep ignoring and 'escalating' to managers who don't call you back.
    So if I just stop paying and move to Sky, can I claim breach of contract for this nonsense?
